Product Overview
Main Features
  • 2400W PowerVerter APS Inverter/Charger
Reliable Power Source for Uninterruptible Emergency Backup Applications Tripp Lite's APS2448 3-function DC-to-AC inverter with auto line-to-battery transfer and integrated charging system serves as a standalone 48V inverter or an extended run UPS. Supplies up to 2400 watts of continuous 120V AC power from a 48V DC bus or battery set. When optional-use hardwire input AC cable is energized, commercial power passes through to connected equipment and the battery set is recharged via 3 stage, 30 amp charging system. In UPS mode, the APS system responds to blackouts and brownouts with an uninterrupted transfer to battery-derived AC output. Includes a set of high current DC input terminals for simple installation (user supplies DC source and cabling). Reliable large transformer design with efficient PWM sine wave output and frequency control powers resistive electronic loads or large inductive motors, compressors and other items with high current needs on startup. Supports an unlimited amount of runtime with any number of user-supplied batteries connected. Highly adaptable to a variety of applications and site conditions with adjustable charger settings for wet / gel battery types and selectable line to battery power transfer voltages

Key Buying Points:
Functions as a 48V standalone AC power source or an extended run UPS system

Includes hardwire AC input and auto-transfer to enable battery charging and automatic UPS support for blackouts & brownouts

2400 watts continuous output power; provides up to twice this rating for momentary startup of inductive loads

Runtime is dependent upon site supported 48V DC bus or by the size and number of user-supplied batteries 48 volt configuration

Hardwire input and output connections supported, DC input terminals for 48V battery connection

Converts 48 volt DC to 120 volt AC

Carries UL safety approval

Frequency control for operating stability

Advanced 30 amp, 3-stage battery charger and selector switch for gel or wet cell batteries

Resettable circuit breaker protects APS against system overload

Switch allows user to select between off, auto-invert and charge-only settings

6 diagnostic LEDs indicate AC present, on battery, overload, & battery voltage level (high, medium, & low)

Configuration switches to allow the user to select the high and low voltage for the unit to automatically transfer from AC power to battery backup

Coated internal circuit boards offer continuous operation in humid environments (0-95%, non condensing)

RJ45 port allows connection of APS remote switch (part# APSRM)

Allows unlimited runtime capability by allowing the use any number of user-supplied batteries

Product Reviews
Tripp Lite Inverter / Charger 2400W 48V DC to 120V AC 15A Hardwire UL rated is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've been using these UPS's for over 15 years I have found the Tripp-Lite UPS to be reliable and dependable. Once it is installed, I rarely have to do anything other than clean the dust and spider webs. I have purchased over half a dozen units in the past 15 years. I Live in a location where I have to make my own power so these units are in us 24/7/365. If the UPS fails I'm in the dark and there is no waiting for the power company to turn the power back on.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Out of box failure first unit was an Out of Box Failure (OBF). Tripp Lite support worked with me and verified the failure. They sent a replacement quickly. The replacement works great. Sending back the failed unit was difficult, UPS would not come pick it up. Wanted me to take it to a drop off point over a hour away. Finally able to stop a drive on the road who took it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Over 2 years and very reliable. I have two of these units at my house, I have them connected to a large stack gel batteries. They are back up for the freezer and furnace and a few other things. I have them running in UPS mode and so far I have not had a single problem with either unit. I never can tell when they switch over to battery except for the other lights go out. I really like the 48 volt DC version because they only pull 50 amps at full load but the way I have them set up they take about 18 amps DC as a pair when everything is on to keep things working when the power is out, I am lightly loading them. You never know when you might need to add something. They are very easy to set up the dip switches for different modes which I really like as an option. My only complaint, the charge voltage for gel batteries is about 55 Volts, it keeps the batteries really full but shortens their life considerably. I have an external charger running 53.5 volts, I get years out of the batteries and the run time is not noticeably less and I buy fewer batteries. I do recommend having a good ground at the inverter and surge protection on the AC Mains.
