Product Reviews
Targus Screen Protector w/Bubble-Free Adhesive iPad® mini - Instant savings is rated 2.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very disappointing Just purchased and applied this product to to my Nikon camera screen. Air bubbles remain under "protective" film; the squeegee provided to squeeze out the bubbles scratched the film. Looks awful. I have a beautiful camera, but the Targus shield is a detraction. The shield is coming off and staying off. Do not recommend this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I thought this product is scratch resistant We bought this today for my wife's new iPad because it said it's scratch resistant, bubble free, finger print resistant but after applying it and using the application card the card scratch the screen protector. It also makes the picture blurry when taking photos.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply the best... This is the best screen protector for the iPad so far - period.I hope Targus will stick with me here - while I'm referencing another product I'm doing it so that I can point out the benefits of the Targus brand screen protector.Other products that I have tried tend to be thicker than the Targus screen protector. They are almost plasticky and rubbery. More like those static cling decals you can put on your car windows. In fact, other brands have that same type of texture. It resembles a stucco texture with irregular slightly raised areas throughout the decal. This texture on the other brands causes friction on your fingers and that is NOT a pleasant experience when you are dealing with a touch screen device. If your fingers are dragging and squeaking across the screen then your experience using Apple's amazing iPad device has been degraded. And I'm referring to the "invisible" or "clear" products and not the anti-glare products. Gosh, I can't even imagine using one of those anti-glare special protectors - its probably like having glue on your fingers!I've tried 2 competing brands simply because at the time each was purchasedn my local big box store didn't have the Targus brand on the shelves. Once I saw the Targus screen protector I had to give it a shot.I'm glad I did...Because, in contrast to those other brands, the Targus product is super thin, truly invisible and the surface texture is "like glass". It is less static decal-like and more like a high quality film. Putting this screen protector over the iPad's glass screen, you cannot even tell you've got a screen protector on it. The thinness and lack of any texture allow your fingers to slide easily across the screen, the way they were meant to. That's because the Targus product appears to be made of a higher quality type of filmNow, the reason I've given 4 stars in the features category is because Targus advertises this screen protector as a bubble free application which DOES NOT need fluid. I tried to apply it as per the instructions. But I could not get it lined up properly and when I got close I didn't have enough hands to apply the film evenly and not get bubbles. It may be designed and marketed as easy to apply without fluid, but in my opinion you should take a trick from your local auto window tint shop and use a lubricating fluid. I made my own with dish detergent, water and a little spray bottle. Once I did this, I was able to position the film properly, in the perfect position because you can move the film around on the screen a whole lot easier. Don't drown your iPad screen. You just need a little mist. When you have it in the right spot, squeegee out the fluid, soak up any excess with a microfiber towel and behold the exceptional Targus screen protector on that gorgeous iPad retina display. However, DO NOT DO THIS!! Doing so would go against Targus's instructions and recommendations; if you drown your device to ruination they aren't going to be replacing it for you. Do so at your own risk. Furthermore, for all I know there's a special adhesive on this screen protector and I may have just ruined it. But I'm going on two weeks of solid daily use with this protector and I don't have any bubbles. The protector isn't curling or peeling up anywhere as though the adhesive had been ruined... your mileage my vary...Once I put this screen protector on, got it positioned properly and squeeged it, I was rewarded with an awesome screen protector. This one, again, has a super low friction build quality. And you've got to have that with a touch screen. It surely will protect my screen against scratches, apple juice stickiness, body oils, etc. This screen protector is like butta. Slick and slippery and so clear it just disappears on the screen. You can't even tell it is there. With competing products, you can FEEL the screen protector and you can SEE the edges because they are thick and not completely clear. Now, don't get me wrong here. The Targus product is advertised as having anti-glare properties. And as such you don't have a glossy glassy finish like a naked iPad screen would have, but it's pretty darned close. If you showed it to someone who had only demo'd an iPad in a store they'd have no idea there was a screen protector on your gadget. It is THAT good....But, the best part by far is that this screen protector REPELS finger prints! If you are using your iPad naked right now then you know that the iPad loves fingerprints almost as much as it likes to be touched. Use your device for a couple hours and it gets really dirty with swipe marks all over the place, finger prints, etc. And those prints pick up dust, so you wind up with a screen that's barely visible. HA! Not so once you apply the Targus screen protector. You'll see a very significant (like 80%) reduction in visible fingerprints on the screen. Not to mention that the Targus screen protector is at least $10 less than competing brands that I've seen at brick and mortar retail. It's worth that and then some.I've recommended this to everyone I know who has, or is thinking of getting, an iPad. It's that good. Of course, I also recommend the fluid application hack, but again, do so at your own risk.As a con, I've noted that the Targus screen protector is only available as a bundle with the Targus A7 sleeve. However, when I was in my local big box store today I did see that these are now being sold on their own which is a big plus. When most people see a screen protector bundled with a case or sleeve the impression is that the screen protector is a cheap freebie just thrown in to entice people to buy the sleeve. That is nearly always the case in my experience. That's a shame because the screen protector is a hit in its own right. Now that it is sold separately, it's a no-brainer to pick one up.I hope Targus will come out with the exact same product for the 4th gen iPod Touch that I picked up. As it is, I'm stuck with the other thick and sticky brands.
