A few dollars more and you have the perfect case. By the way the case for the Air2 is different than the case for the Air.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from iPad air 2 I have been a big fan of otter box I am on my 4th Ipad a;; of then have been or are still in an otter box case I have passed them down. but I have to say the one I just purchased for the Air 2 fits good but it does not sit well in stand it falls out a lot I have never had this problem before.

The case does make the iPad a little heavy but I am OK with that because it is do durable. I also like how the stand is also a cover for the front of the iPad. That was your iPad is completely protected form damage during travel. I waited for the color grey because everyone has a black case and I like to be different.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love This Case ! I have been using this series of cases to protect my iPhone 4, iPhone 5s, and now my first iPad ! Granted they are a bit on the bulky side. BUT THEY DO PROTECT YOUR EXPENSIVE TOYS ! I had my iPhone 4 for 3 days, I knocked it out of the holster and hit the floor. I was terrified after hearing about the front and back glass being shattered on iPhones. To my surprise there was no damage at all. When I upgraded to iPhone 5s I bought the same case. I got the teal hard case with the dark purple rubber outer shell. My iPhone 5s has been dropped from a 24ft ladder on 3 separate occasions. The first time I was in a panic. I picked the iPhone up and not a single issue with the iPhone. Just a slight ding on the hard shell. The issues I had with the rubber outer shell stretching out of shape on my iPhone 4 case have been resolved. Have had the same case on my iPhone 5s for almost 2 years and no issues at all. I got the black iPad Air 2 case and very happy. It was difficult separating the hard shell to slip the iPad in. But once in place it provides a snug fit. The outer shell was hard to get on too, but once in place it provides a seamless unified feel. Haven't dropped my new iPad Air 2 yet, but I feel secure that it will be protected completely. Looking back I should have gotten the purple case, to match my iPhone 5s ! You can't go wrong with this case !

I have another on the way to protect my business iPad as well. Only wish they had more a color combination, like on the older iPad versions.

I would like to see a small design change when you remove the cover to take a picture you need to leave it laying around. If the cover had an opening for the camera then there would be no chance of forgetting it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my Otter Box I had one for my iPad 2. Had to wait for the new iPad Air 2 case, and meanwhile had another brand case -- dropped the iPad twice, twice the case broke. My Otter Box is so fabulous, I feel that my iPad is fully protected and safe. If I drop it, the case gets scratched. That's it! The only negative is the port covers are really tight and hard to open, but I assume with more use they will loosen up.

This case needs more room on the finger print button, as your thumb will most of the time not work for fingerprint unlocking. The other issue would be the cover corners, which should be bigger and thicker to cover more area. In the past it always broke there. So yea only 2 major issue but I still will and always use Otterbox.

Easy to assemble. Easy to attach cords and cables. One small but important problem..... The case makes it hard as heck to turn off your iPad. The button to turn off the iPad must be depressed for an extended period. The case makes this task nearly impossible

I have to peel back the rubber part of the case to line up the on button with the hole on the case. When I bought the ipad and case I put it together that put it on the charger. A couple days later when I went to use it I found that the pins that hold the stand were broken and I had already tossed the sales receipt and packaging.I know a lot of people love these cases but I paid alot of money for a piece of junk

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fish mouth power port Fabulous product and design EXCEPT, the power port opens UP, and overnight recharging with the flexible port open creates a "fish mouth" in the silicone edge right next to the power button, the round button on the face of the iPad which after only a short time results in a PERMANANT gap "fish mouth" in the edge seal. I expect this to WORSEN with time, and shortly to be a SERIOUSLY damaging flaw, allowing dirt to accumulate and eventually will catch on something and ruin the entire edge seal. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DESIGNED FOR THE POWER PORT TO OPEN DOWNWARDS, NOT UPWARDS

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy but with MAJOR flaw This iPad cover is very sturdy and will protect my device. The MAJOR flaw is that I am unable to charge my iPad with the cover on. The cover pushes on the cord disconnecting it. This cover is way too expensive for me to be removing every time my iPad needs a charge. Very disappointed.

It doesn't add much weight at all to the IPad. It is easy to pop on and use. I love the kickstand that comes with the case. I would definitely recommend this product.

I like how they have a shell to protect the screen when they bring them to school on BYODD (bring your own device day). I don't have to worry about books in their backpack damaging the screen. The built-in screen protector is great too.

I had dropped my phone and I Pad and they were never damaged. I could not wait until you came out with the new Otter Box for the I Pad. I had a cover and when I went to replace the cover with the Otter box discovered the cover was cracked. It had only been two weeks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great case Bought this to keep our new iPad 2 safe, first day went bouncing down stairs - not a scratch. since then has been attacked by rogue coffee and suicidal leaps on to tarmac drive. Ipad is fine. Also case is great as a prop for kitchen as a recipe book, cover in four and egg and wipe clean after - cant do that with a book. Also reading is great and as for resting on lap when playing bubble witch need I say more! May be heavy but given that case also holds iPad at good viewing angles its not an issue

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OtterBox cover for iPad 2 Air I recently changed from a Blackberry Play Book to a iPad 2 Air. The cover on my Blackberry lasted years with only minimal damage (caused by me). I decided to get the same cover for my iPad and it is up to the standard expected from Otterbox. The one disappointing feature is that they do not put a camera slot on the protective cover, this would allow the camera to be used when the protective cover is on the back of the unit. This feature was on the black berry play book Otterbox cover.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Case But! The build of the case is good but the built in protector screen needs improvement. It has a rainbow effect were its not sitting just right on the screen. Also the delivery of the product is very slow. From the time you purchase the case it take a few days before it is even shipped. The power button is hard to push but I do like that it is easy to assemble and take apart if needed. Overall I think it does protect the iPad very well. It would be nice if you could swap colors like you can some of the phone cases. At this time there are not a lot of iPad Air 2 cases so as it stands I might be in the market for another case.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My expectations were exceeded Otterbox really protects my iPad. While the iPad was charging our dog got tangled in the charging cable and then ran towards me. The iPad was catapulted at least six feet from the kitchen counter where it was charging and dropped the height of the kitchen counter. The iPad was intact! It's hard to describe the impact received by the iPad but I can say tha I expected to see a broken iPad.

This was the first time I went for protection for my ipad air 2 and all I can say is WOW. It still feels good in the hand but you can feel that its taking care of your investment. I unfortunately have dropped it once or twice and cringed but nothing every happened. I only wish Otterbox made something for my MacBook Pro!!! Keep up the great work!!!!

Was a little difficult to figure out how to take the pieces apart but then was relatively easy to put back together. Should have cleaned the screen of the Air 2 before putting it together and had to take everything apart and put it back together again. Would prefer to have the hard cover attached and folding rather than snap-on. Even though it is heavy and defeats the purpose of the lightweight Air 2, it is well-made, feels solid, and protective.

When I called, Otterbox immediately agreed to let me exchange it for the "glacier" color. The process was quick and seamless and the representative couldn't have been easier to work with. I bought the case to protect my iPad when I'm managing search and rescue missions in the Colorado mountains. Once on, it's very protective and doesn't interfere with operation of the iPad. To install it, read the directions!

I cracked the screen on my first iPad so I wanted to protect my new one from my rough handling. This does that. One negative is the added weight but at least I don't have to worry about my iPad.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My fifth Defender case I have put Defenders on all of my devices for a couple reasons, beyond the obvious protection benefits. That is two iPhones, three iPads, and an iPod Touch, so far. Secondarily, it protects the devices from even minor wear and tear, preserving re-sale value. I've even delayed getting a new device, until a Defender was available, so as soon as I got the device, I could immediately protect it. But the biggest reason is that it just makes the devices more comfortable to hold and use. I'm not one who needs the device to be as compact as possible, rather I'd like to be able to use it without concern for it slipping off of a stand, or my knee, or out of my hand. And with the case in place, the edges of the devices, particularly the iPads, put less pressure on my hands, making it more comfortable to hold on to for extended periods of time. The only suggestions I might make would be to offer a version of the case without the built-in screen protector and make the case more compatible with glass screen protectors. (On my last two devices/cases, I've removed the factory screen protectors, added glass screen protectors to my devices, and put them into the Defenders. This is the best combination, in my opinion.) And make available iPad silicone skins in various colors, so I can customize the case, like I was able to do for my iPhone6. Love these cases.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can use improvements. I use the defender series for my iPhone so when I saw that one for my iPad air 2 was aviaviable I thought why not. Here are some flaws I see. The first layer, the rubber part, is not easy to remove from the hard shell. Also the rubber part near the charging port was already loose out of the box. It does not grip to the hard shell fully as it should. The gap for the home button is not large enough for the fingerprint to recognize. If the bottom part could reflect the design of the phone that would help. It is a defender case so I'm reassured that my iPad won't break.

The instructor spoke very rapidly and I had to continuously rewind the video to understand the steps. I wanted to pull my hair out! After about 2 hours, I finally caught on. This was hard work! In my opinion, this product is not worth the price. It's durability is probably good but the time it takes to assemble is just not what I expected. I would not refer this product to a friend. I'd much rather have a simple leather foldable case instead.

It's the most protective cover I've seen and has options to view movies, etc. my so. Has dropped his iPad from his bed to a hardwood floor and it's fallen out of his backpack on concrete and the device was safe and screen in tact. It may. It be as sleek as other available cases but for safety it's worth every penny!

With school, clinicals, and casual use, it seemed appropriate to get the strongest, plus it had a stand. The stand was an issue from the beginning. It's made to pop out easily, but it's a real hassle to get it back in. Immediately I hated it, but it would defend so I was just cautious when I set it up to not break the fragile, tiny plastic pegs. After meticulous setup for 6 months, one snapped off and into my carpet, probably never to be found. Without it, there's no stand function. Anyone with less caution or children wouldn't last even a few weeks let alone a 6 months

The only thing I don't love about my Otterbox case for my iPad Air2 is that the corners of the base don't keep the iPad stable while turned to landscape/horizontally. They are also prone to cracking/breaking and could use a little reinforcement. 1 small annoyance does not outweigh all the other benefits of having a protective case, though. It's the only case I'll use. When anyone in my family gets a new device, we purchase Otterboxes at the same time. Better to be safe, than sorry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy install and great protection - Love the Color Although I liked the iPad Air 2, it felt flimsy and prone to breakage when I got it. It seemed to flip out of my hands. It was too valuable to just carry around and perhaps drop it. I waited 2 months to get the Otter Box case in a color other than black so I would not confuse it with my husband's. It was definitely worth the wait. Yesterday I took the iPad to the hospital where my Mom was a patient to amuse her by letting her watch 60 Minutes for a couple hours. I had no fear of her dropping it or someone knocking it over. The stand felt secure and was practical for several people to watch. Otter Box: My only recommendation is to allow mix and match colors to personalize the case. The Damson is good for me, but my sister likes Lime Green in anything. Good Job!!

The new iPad Air 2 Defender case uses a firmer outer padding layer, which fits tightly to the innner hard shell. The old silicone outer layer could get quite sloppy after extended use on the old iPad Defender, but this new case fits much more tightly to the shell. I'd say it's an improvement. only negative...the pink color...lol. I got this one in the Crushed Damson for the wife, as it looked restrained but looked like a womans color. Seeing it now, the pink hard shell screams way too brightly and she didn't like that pink at all but she kept it anyway as the dark purple cover does look sharp..

All buttons and connection covers align perfectly. The screen protector is tight with no wrinkles allowing perfect touch screen interaction and still allows the use of the "touch ID". Hats off to another great product OtterBox!

The stand idea is brilliant and right now I am typing this review without balancing the iPad in one hand and typing until whichever wrist aches first. There are a few annoying bits though... 1. The sound, no matter how high it is turned up, isn't great. I feel like it's being stopped by the case. 2. You cannot get to the headphone flap if the case is clipped on at the back. 3. I wish there was a hole in the case so that I could take a photo without having to take the protective lid off from the back. 4. It's nigh on impossible to put the case on WITHOUT taking a shed load of fluff with you. The look is great, the colour is great and the protection is great. I was so confident in the ability of Otterbox that I chose not to buy the insurance for the drops, trips and slips! I always use Otterbox for my phone so why should by tablet be any different?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything plus Wow. I just got my case in and I am really happy to say this case is the best offering from Otterbox I have every used. My last Otter case was for my IPad 3. It was a great case but kinda of big. This new case really fits the new iPad very well. All of the seams where the rubber meats plastic are tight. The profile is thinner, shorter and not as wide. The Cover/Stand does not have the magnets in it to turn off the device but I found in my other cases for the iPad 3 that the magnet cut outs were what caused the old cover to crack. The iPad air2 fingerprint reader works flawlessly with this case. This new cover design is solid and it allows for you to prop the device easily in 4 solid positions. All around this is a great fit for a great new device. I am very happy with the new design.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sealed Away When I bought iPad Air 2 for myself, I knew I would want the best protection there was on the market. There was no other that I would want, I always thought about Otterbox. I did of course consider a few others, but none were as good and versatile as the Otterbox Defender Series. The way it's all sealed up, even the ports are protected. Also the front cover is very good, I use it so much as the protector for the screen AND the stand. Makes things so much easier to type on, also watching for example YouTube videos with the stand is amazing. The screen protector itself is very good, doesn't make the screen any less sensitive. Now the only cons I could give this cover, the biggest one is installation. That was a nightmare to me, I was trying to pry it apart without breaking anything on it. The outer silicone cover was relatively easy to get off, but the inner shell was a total nightmare. I did get it apart, but not before my fingers were bleeding a little. Also you need to make sure there isn't any dist or dirt on the iPad screen or the inner part of the screen protector, because you don't want to pry it apart again. That brings me to my second con, that is the screen protector. It's a con and a pro, it does protect the screen from scratches, dirt and it doesn't lose sensitivity. The bad side of it is, that it limits the viewing angles a little. If you turn it, you get this rainbow effect that obscures the screen. Finally brings me to my last con, that's the price for it. It's very expensive, for that money you should be able to get free worldwide shipping. In conclusion, this is the best case for your new expensive tablet and I'm very very pleased with it. Only the installation was so hard, but you won't be taking it out from it anytime soon. I totally recommend this if you want the best protection, it certainly does it.

This case fits the iPad air 2 flawlessly. There is no loose rattle from a too large case or fear that the device will not fit into one too small. The screen protector is amazingly good it lays right on the screen causes no issues with use no air bubbles, looks better than the the sticker ones that you can put on and was much easier to deal with. All materials seem very durable and are easy to clean which is nice as I am smudge prone. Camera works great no sense that the lens is in any way blocked on either side. Feels very comfortable to hold, gives a nice grip and also makes you not,worry about bending the darn thing! I have two very small complaints about it. The port flaps you pull out to open for the headphones and charger are really hard to get pried open on mine, I worry I'm going to hurt the case and that part seems a little too frustrating. The stand has two angles and the high nearly vertical one is perfect but I found the low angle personally to be too low for my taste. These are really minor though. I got the grey and I love the color but I keep wondering if I would have liked the purplish one better but didn't want to wait for it to come out.

It definitely adds weight to the iPad but that's to be expected for such a high quality protection piece. It fits in snug and if your familiar with their cases, you just need to be careful with the side clips around the case. Using a flat screwdriver is not recommended as it can twist and bend the tabs. Just finagle it with your finger nail or wrap a thin cloth around the flathead and be very careful. Just take your time and be patient. Great product from a reputable Company....

Although they are on the pricey side of protective cases we have never had a device damaged due to drops or falls while using them. The rubber shell for my iPhone 5 case is starting to come apart but then it is over 5 years old and the phone itself looks brand new. Although the iPad cases provide fantastic protection they have one minor flaw. The hinging mechanism which allows you to use the lid as a stand breaks, making it useless. This happened in the exact same way on the iPad 1 case and the iPad 2 case. In fact this is reason for the recent purchase since the hinge became unusable. If it wasn't for this flaw I would definitely give it 5 stars.

However, the buttons do not work as smoothly as they did on my old iPad, which also had an Otterbox. The thumbprint works when it wants to. The volume buttons stick, and it is an effort to push them, the same goes for the on/off button on the top. It seems to me that the buttons do not line up properly.

I've purchased OtterBox cases for my IPhone's and they have been through many drops, dunks, lost and found too, with never a problem. After my IPad Air2 was given to me as a gift I needed a case to protect it. Believe me, I looked at everything that was available but nothing seemed sturdy or protective enough; but OtterBox had not come out for my IPad. It was worth the wait. It fits perfectly and is very safe. I like the inside case that has a great way to hold the IPad at a nice level.

The case completely changes the feel of it. It feels rugged and durable, instead of sleek and sexy. However, the peace of mind I have now totally makes the difference acceptable. I got the purple/pink and like the colors. My only suggestions would be to make patterned cases. Also, I would like to have the case actually flip open into the stand rather than have to take the cover off and convert it.

I have one for my phone and it has saved me a repair bill several times when I dropped the phone. I Love everything about the new IPad Air 2 Defender Series. I ordered the Crushed Damson, beautiful colors. The stand is great, I read and cook a lot so it comes in handy. I use recipes that are saved on my IPad or on the web, I set my IPad on the counter using the stand and I don't worry about spills or dirty fingers, it wipes right off. I have had no issues with button covers or the case. It was super easy to put on my IPad. I Love that it has its own screen protector built into the case. The screen fits nice and tight. Responsiveness of the screen is great, as a matter of fact I'm writing this review with it on and I have had no lag while typing. The Touch ID works perfectly (though I am wondering how that part of the screen is going to hold up, no problems yet though). The case is nice and sleek and it is a breeze, as with every otterbox product I have owned, to install. I actually prefer the plain black look and this is exactly what I wanted for a case for my new iPad. Screen is nice and clear too. So far this is one of the best accessories I have bought for the air 2.

I needed a heavy duty case and the other brands cases reviews were even worse, so I chose this one and hoped for the best. The defects others seem to have with their case were not present in mine. It is not difficult to use the audio or recharge plugs, other than what you could expect from a case of this protection. The on/off switch lines up just as it should, with no difficulty to use. Also the volume buttons line up just fine. I just wanted to put that out there because I was skeptical based on reviews. Keep in mind I really wanted I survivor case but the reviews were awful lol so I settled for this and am glad I did.

BUT, whoever thought the On/Off switch was adequately designed needs to explain why it won't work! I saw this mentioned as a "possible flaw" when I researched the case, but really, it's a real flaw and should be remedied soon. I'd suggest letting customers who relied on Otter Box to again do a great job to know when this problem is fixed and offer us some discount to get the corrected product. You guys are too good to let this mistake slip through the cracks!

I realize designing the case to be ultra thin and light, yet providing exceptional protective quality, makes the placement of some features more difficult. This doesn't seem to be good for the case nor for the charging cord. The fingerprint recognition feature letting in some fine debris is a logical result. Like my iPhone cases, I will simply gently wash this cover periodically. Those are the rare times I can actually read the inscriptions on my two fingerprint recognition devices anyway. I never use a new device until I have an Otterbox case for it. For example, I purchased my iPad Air 2 in November, but I waited until the pink/wine case was available in February before using the device.

I decided on the defender series case. Great colour, not the usual black or grey! Very easy to fit to ipad, with comprehensive instruction. This is when you realise how much protection is provided, as each fitting is followed by another, then another etc. I was worried that the inbuilt screen protection may not allow for fingerprint recognition, I was wrong, it works perfectly. The case also provides a stand for the ipad, the only downside of this is the angle is only available in landscape, the ipad can be leant against the stand in portrait, but is not as sturdy. Overall, the protection is second to none, the colour is unusual and 'girly'. I am very happy with this purchase.

One of my big complaints is that it took so long for the product to become available. I bought my iPad Air 2 before Christmas 2014 and have just now been able to order an otter box case for it. I was so worried about damaging my iPad because it took way to long for these to become available to purchase. It is a good product and I feel like my iPad is well protected.

I had a large drink on the table and the glass tipped over soaking my Ipad Air 2. There are a few minor changes that I would make, as in, not breaking a nail when I have to try to take it off, which isn't very often but it's a little ridiculous. And, I think it needs a place for a stylus but that's really all it needs. Well, and when you say purple, make it purple, not plum & it needs more options, like the cases have, choosing the inside & out, not just a few choices.

The Defender design has definitely improved over the years. But, this iPad Air 2 case lacks the magnets of the current iPad 2 to put the iPad to sleep. Also the cover can be difficult to get off. The port cover for charging is quite awkward. The stiff silicon makes it difficult to plug in and seems likely to ultimately tear.

The quality is great, as expected, however, unlike on my first one..for the iPad 2, there are some design flaws...Well, really just one. The part that is supposed to make contact with the power button doesn't always make contact. In looking at the extension on the inside of the rubber cover, it doesn't seem wide enough, so when depressing the button, it doesn't always work. There have been times I've needed to take the rubber cover off, to turn my iPad off. Other than that issue, great product...but having to remove the cover will be come annoying.

I have heard a lot of good things about these cases, and I can only say the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 4 OtterBoxes are very under rated. They are absolutely fantastic!!!! They fit these 2 iPads perfectly. They are doing a fantastic job protecting these devices. They definitely are worth the cost!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best case for iPad Air protection I purchased the iPad air in early Dec 2014 & found out the otter box air 2 case wasmt available yet. I tried other cases but they were horrible in every way you could think of. So I returned it & decided I would wait on the air 2 defender release & I boxed my iPad up until then. After finally getting the case about 3weeks ago I was happy I could finally use my new iPad air 2. The installation was easy & only took maybe 5-10 mins. So far I haven't had any issue with this case. It seems to be on par with the otter box case standards. I have only used otterbox cases for my apple products because they do what they say they will do...PROTECT your devices. I have not experienced the power button issue like some previous reviews mentioned. The finger ID also works without any issue. The only question I have is regarding the plastic case part around the speakers at the bottom. It's like it doesn't come out all the way like on previous cases therefore the rubber covering over that part is kinda flimsy. Overall I would highly recommend this case as its THE BEST case for the Air2 available, def worth the wait!

Very sturdy and love the different ways the stand works. I also have an otterbox on my iphone and love that as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost a true Otter Design perfect. Proctection, well not so perfect. Why do the corners of the inner shell have to stand out? For holding the displaycover you risk a crash without the "bumper". Was better on previous covers. Quality? It makes noises on the upper end. Just quiky, scratchy sound, like the inner shell is not tied enough. Around the backhole it's a bit loose. I got a iPhone 6 Defender case - it is way better in quality.

The first was for an iPad 3 that I used and NEVER suffered any damage to the iPad though it had been dropped a couple of times. So when I recently upgraded to a new iPad Air 2 it was a NO BRAINER that I would also protect it with a Defender case.

However I feel that the latch area which opens to allow the device to be charged should be opening in the other direction or removed all together, because it seems to me that it will burst after constaint opening and closing. Apart from my concern,Overall this is a great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fitting This iPad case is an enlarged version of the iPhone 6 case. Perfect fitting hard case with an outer rubber case. Fingerprint system and apple pay both work perfectly. My only complaint is the power switch is difficult to operate with the face shield/stand on the front or back of the iPad. If you attach the Latch you'll never be able to use the switch again.

I must say however, the instructions that came with it were not really detailed and I was not able to open it or apply it. I went online and got instructions. Also online had to use instructions for IPad Pro, the IPad Air was not helpful. Maybe revamping instructions included and online would be applicable.

The volume buttons did not line up and the protective screen did not fit close to the iPad screen. That made it difficult to swipe. Needless to say, it went right back to the store and I purchased the Otter Box. I did have to wait for the color I wanted. It was worth the wait. I love this cover. It fits the iPad very well and I love that it comes with a cover that you can use as a stand. It was very easy to install.

The additional "bulk" and added weight took the "portability out of the equation. upgrading to the "iPad Air 2" which is both slimmer and lighter than it's predecessor the choice of protection was a no brainier. The otter box is Minimalist to the Max!, 3way protection and it looks good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely color I like the durable nature of the otterboxes. However, unlike my previous otterbox I do have some negatives on this one. Love the color. In general this box seems better than most. Negatives: there is no covering over the main button; the plug over the charging port is deep, difficult to pull out, difficult to place the charging chord in or get it out; the plug also causes the frame of the rubber to pull away when you do get it open-- this is a weak point and I wonder how long it will be before the rubber gives out at that point; the cover around the logo on the ipad is not snug against the back but is inclined to gape a tiny bit. Even with the negatives, I have not found a case that I like any better, and I enjoy the color.

I purchased one from a rival company thinking it would protect my iPad Air 2, except it was only 2 pieces and it didn't feel secure. Dust kept coming into the case once I utilized the stand and I kept needing to remove it and clean my air. I just received my defender iPad Air 2 case. Perfect. Solid. Brilliant! Yes, it's bulky. I don't care. Most secure case and worth every penny. I only seem to have the power off button that are in the other reviews when I have the stand attached.

When I forgot about it and I saw it fly off my toolbox today at 50 MPH, hit the asphalt, bounce and roll, you can imagine my exasperation. That turned to elation when I opened a shattered and tattered Defender case to find my iPad unscathed and working perfectly! Thank you Otterbox!

My husband said that one of the guys at his work when asked how good is an Otterbox took his IPhone and threw it across the room and it fell on the concrete floor unharmed. I am not that brave, but I have peace of mind now that my IPad Air is nestled in an Otterbox. I bought the black case because it was available and did not want to wait for another color. I never had a problem with the old otterbox but the brand new one I purchased is terrible. Every time I close the stand the pin pops out and i have to spend 3 minutes trying to get it back in so i can secure the Ipad back into the case. Not user friendly.

This case has held up to lots of little ones playing on it, poking it too hard, and dropping it on a carpeted floor. I have had it for about a month now and it has held up wonderfully. All the openings have coverings to keep dirt out. There's a clear cover over the screen, the touch work perfect.

The iPad Air 2 feels alarmingly thin and flimsy but with this case you can feel confident of putting your pad in a rucksack or giving it to clumsier hands (kids, etc....).

I would have rated this all excellent but, unlike all the other otterbox products I have owned, this one does not give the sensitive touch on the screen as past products have. This is a disappointment as I use my iPad for presentations on a regular basis. Had it had the touch sensitivity as in the past this would have received 5 Stars. Even with this frustration I would recommend using the otterbox product. I know I still will.

Would definitely recommend this product to other parents, and particularly love the additional front screen protection. My son loves his new cover & thinks he has the best one of all. Extremely happy mum, and even happier son. Thank you otterbox!! p.s We haven't experienced any issues with on/off button, volume buttons or any other concerns. Recharge tab can be difficult to pull out at times, but nothing too worrisome.

I've tried other products but this fits perfectly. My only wish is Otterbox consider lowering the price a little bit and do something on the weight as part of improvement.

I am having trouble with the port of the charger. It is very difficult to open & once closed leaves a memory just below the home button cause it to bow out slightly. Otherwise I find this product perfect.

This will allow dust or other foreign matter to potentially damage the screen. In my opinion the old otterbox is better than the otterbox for iPad air2.

The case does add a little weight, but offers a snug fit and provides a comfortable, solid feeling. I m not ready to drop it two stories to test the claim, but know my iPad Air 2 has the best protection available. One note: if you already have a screen protector installed, remove it prior to attaching the Defender. You will eventually need to do so for best iPad results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One Flaw I purchased a new iPad Air 2 back in November of last year. I singned up to receive the new otter box for this iPad, it was still under production. I've had otter boxes for my phones but never for an iPad. A couple of my friends recommended them highly, so I decided to get one. When it arrived, I read the instructions and it fitted perfectly. I Run 2 Trade Shows every year and I use 2 different squares to take money from customers. Well guess what, when I went stick the square In, the plastic piece on the otter box got in the way. There was no way either one worked, now I'm mad. So I had to take all apart, go purchase the plastic sheen that goes over the glass, so customers would not scratch the glass. That part worked, and I could only hope that someone would not drop it. The show is over and I will put it back in the otterbox, but in couple of months I'll have to do the same thing. This is the only flaw that I'm disappointed in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A few hiccups but a overall good case I only have two issues with the case 1: the top cover screen protector isn't as tight to the screen as on my other devices... (iPhone iPad mini iPod ) so you have to push down harder to get the screen to respond, having to double and triple tap the screen. 2: I have issues with the silicone cover...at the sleep/power button. When you tap the button it goes to sleep alright. If you try and hold it down to power on/off it doesn't want to do it...I have to tweak the button side to side and sometimes it works...sometimes I have to take the cover off all together Other than this ...the case is like all my other Otterbox cases... I own 8

All buttons are easily accessible and function properly. My only complaint is that it doesn't fit properly on the back. It seems to be a little big because I have a large air bubble under the Apple logo that I can't remove and I've tried everything to make it snug. I bought the glacier color when it first came out so this may be a first run defect. The bad part is that I'm reminded of this defect every time I hold my iPad. Other than that, best case I've ever used!

There is no hesitation when using the touch screen. The cover snaps off/on easily and is a snug fit. I like the stand variations for propping up to view or display. I chose the pink/purple which is a fun color combo. I won't have to worry about transporting on airplanes, cars etc. This cover is as good as it gets.

I was glad to see that it didn't add a lot of thickness like some of the earlier models did. With the cost of electronics these days it doesn't make much sense to leave them unprotected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Port Dimensions slightly off I've owned 4 iPhone OtterBoxs in the past (and currently) and regardless of their ungainly appearance to some, and bulkiness I still love the things! This might be the most secure and best case I've had yet! Few small issues, but nothing I'm concerned at all about. Pros: Extremely solid build (better than previous OtterBoxs I've had) Still remains fairly thin (when not using the hard cover). Screen and home key covers have no issue at all with sensing properly. Not as ungainly in appearance and feel as I expected (and had in previous OtterBoxs). Extremely secure exterior mold! Cons: When the hard cover is attached on the rear, it becomes difficult to access the headphone, and power ports. Usually I have to take the hard cover off to access them (easier/faster sometimes). The port covers work border-line TOO well. Very secure fit, but almost too difficult to open/keep open. With the hard case attached to the rear, it creates and slightly annoying vibration when listening to the built-in speakers. This only occurs when holding it in your hand it seems, and with the hard case snapped on securely.

I have had great luck with Defender Cases for iPad 2, iPhone 4 and 6. So, I ended up ordering one direct and had it by the weekend. I like the feel of this case and enjoy the security of protecting my investment. I have accidentally dropped my phone a time or two and had no issues. All my i-devices still look brand new after using these Otterbox cases. All buttons worked well for me (including the iPhone 6 case.) I'll be buying an Otter Case for the next iPhone 8 or iPad Air 3 at some point down the road.

I cracked the case on my iPad 2 and it held together for over 2 years. When the case finally did break it was replaced very quickly with no problems. So when I got a new iPad and iPhone of course I chose Otterbox as the case. These cases also make it easier to hold on to the phone and tablet. Wouldn't buy anything else but Otterbox.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good protection but not so good functionality I have had this case for a few days now and I like the protection it offers but don't like how hard I have to press the screen to get it to respond to my touch. I also don't like how hard it is to get the corners to respond. I have to make several attempts to get it to work. Also, it would be nice if I could use the camera with the cover attached to the back but its not possible without any hole for the lens to see thru.

I've waited 7 months to write this review, just in case I grew to tolerate the things I disliked, or in case something unexpectedly went badly. Here's my story: I happily had my original iPad in Apple's own flimsy case for 3 years before I managed to crack the screen by dropping it on it's corner on the sidewalk. NEVER AGAIN. My iPhones have ALWAYS been "Otterboxed" so why not the new iPad Air 2 that I eventually ordered. I must begin by saying: My iPad is extremely protected and that's the point. I'm not unhappy. But people read reviews to learn more than that, so I continue . . . I had read the reviews for this case and found one that said the colors were awful, but how could that be? I had (and still have) the Symmetry in Damson and it's great! First issue: I wish I had listened because the pink it's sooooo very pink. Crazy bright pink. I'm not quite girly enough to like it. On the Symmetry the pink is rubbery and thus gets a bit dirty so it brings down the pink a bit I guess. But on this case, the pink is hard plastic and there is no changing it. It's been 7 months and it's not grown on me - I still wish I had ordered the Black (I don't think the Glacier was available at the time). Oh well. My fault. I love the purple - but grimace some at the pink. With that being said, when I carry them together from the back they look great! People have commented on my matching devices. Second small issue: The box itself attaches tightly and in no way rattles, but for some reason the back circle (around the apple symbol) is pulled away a good bit and makes me nervous. It also doesn't look as sharp as it could because of this - sort of an awkward fit. It's never changed - still the same strange space. I can push it tight but it bounces right back out. Third issue: I despised the stand from day one. I was accustomed to a magnetic flip cover and this was remarkably cumbersome. For awhile I left it behind but kept finding myself aching for a stand. Once I started bringing it with me, it grew on me. Stand PROS: It's very protective of the screen when it's on. CONS: You have to be extremely careful with the flip up stand to not break it. Also - it's only stands up in landscape mode. There is no way to hold it in portrait mode, which is annoying because some apps don't flip. Most annoying: You have to put it in the stand carefully or it falls over. I've grown accustomed to all these issues and it works well for me, though it still falls over if I'm in a hurry. Final thoughts: This week I found my stand broken and was angry at myself that I was careless at some point without realizing it, later to learn my husband did it by accident because he didn't realize it was so delicate. *sigh* So today I requested a warranty replacement. I'm hoping I get an entire unit as I have a few gouges in my screen protector I put there early on by my own carelessness (my dad's dog walked across it in the car). I've been looking around them for months and I'm tiring of it. Now... if the otters chose to send me the GLACIER replacement I would be happy as... well, an otter! But that's probably asking a bit much. Thank you for making a quality protection product - I am a repeat customer and will continue to be one. I sing the praises of Otter Box at every opportunity.

I received a Tablet for Christmas and immediately realized I needed a protector for it. Looked at various stores that sell phone protectors could not find one that I liked!! Immediately went to the Otterbox website and found the case that I liked, ordered it on Sunday, got it today; could not be happier with it!! Can't wait until I get my iPhone 6Plus as I have already picked out the customized Otterbox case that I want for it!! Absolutely the best!! Well with the price!! Will definitely recommend Otter products to people I know!!

Even the screen sensitivity is almost the same as without the case. The protection is top notch. Without the outer shell the weight isn't bad either.

The box cracked, but your company replaced it for free. I was very impressed. Now when we got our son a new I-Pad, I immediately bought another Otter Box to protect the pad.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love my Otterboxes This is my first Otterbox for a tablet. Others were for phones and they are wonderful. I have had the same experience this time. The cover that also acts as a stand is exactly what I need. I used to change out tablet covers depending on what I was using it for. All ports line up perfectly, and, as usual, the Otterbox is very sturdy. I don't mind a little extra weight for the quality. One tiny problem...in places where the screen cover touches the screen (as opposed to sort of floating there), I can see colors, kind of like tiny oil slicks, and there is NO moisture inside the cover. Only a mild annoyance that I can live with.

But the box does what it's suppose to do. The only thing I don't like is how difficult it is to open the power port. I just know that I'm going to end up ripping it off altogether as I have to use something to pry it open. So I end up not closing it at all. Think that may defeat the purpose. Possibly a design change?

Everytime we try to make the cover into a stand it pops out and has to be replaced. It' is only a matter of time before it will not go back together!!! little upset in that especially with the price of this product, would hope it lived up to expectations!! Without the defect I say it is excellent however. If I am contacted and problem resolved I will raise my quality rating.

Small negative is that there is no good way to incorporate a thin Bluetooth keyboard to improve the typing situation. Other products for the keyboard and iPad do not work out with the iPad in the Otterbox.

However there is one thing they need to improve on and that is the slot to turn it off and on!! The iPad is extremely hard to turn off so we have to take it out of the case to turn it off and the iPhone is hard also although after about 5 tries it works. Really wish that was improved on. But have to stick with it because it is absolutely the best in protection!!

I hated the wafer thin feel to the IPad Air 2 and was glad to get the protection and feel that the OtterBox was able to provide. As with all the Defender series items, it takes a bit to get everything disassembled in order to get the items inside, but once put back together, I always know that the item is well protected.

I have had many of these cases before with no problems. Possibly not check thoroughly enough before packaging. I would certainly recommend again.

It took me about 10 min to figure out how to install it though. The tutorial video helped. I removed the screen protection immediately upon installation because I think it makes the screen a bit less responsive and has some impact on the quality and feel of the iPad's screen. Without it it's still one of the best protective cases around. Also the case obviously adds significant weight to the device, but for me it's still worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ultra Protective The IPad Air 2 has few available cases at the moment (1/1/2015). This is the only option I'm aware of with serious protection for corners. My first iPad cracked on a corner from a fall to a tile floor, so that's my priority. The overprotection disadvantages are that it's difficult to remove the cover flap for power and headphones, and the case is bulky. I think the clear face cover and other port/outlet covers for are unnecessary. P.S. Mind that you remove the film of plastic over the home button before you install your case.

I was so excited when I heard Otterbox was making a case for the iPad air 2. Unfortunately it took about 2 months of waiting until it was ready to order(only the black was avaliable). I finally ordered it on January 1st 2015, and it took a week to be shipped to me. After waiting, and waiting I finally received it! Otterbox did an excellent job on this case's design. What really impressed me about this case was how thin they made it. Another thing that really caught my eye was the "mini" screen protector that went over the home botton/finger scanner, But it can still detect your finger without getting in the way. So if you are looking for a case that is high quality, and unbeatable protection; Go with the Otterbox defender series for the iPad air 2. You won't regret it!

The decision to purchase an Otterbox was, among other things, a cost savings measure. I was impressed that it came in my favorite color (purple(damson)). It is not nearly as bulky as I thought. It has a great screen protector, too. I think it is the best protection for my iPad. I recommend it to everyone!!

The one angle is amazing for typing and the other is great for movies or surfing the web! It gives me great protection, and that's why I bought the case. The only problem I'm seeming to have with it, the rubber material around the charging port and headphone jack is bending and won't stay back in its spot unless I push it in a couple times. I dropped my iPad about 4 feet onto a tile floor face down and was shocked …. No broken glass and my iPad is still perfect. I have a friend that didn't want to spend the money on one and purchased another brand. She dropped her iPad and it totally shattered..so do yourself a favor and get one...

I was happy when I could finally order the Otterbox. I like the option of the stand incorporated in the Otterbox. The flexibility in positioning the Air 2 is great, and was not available on the first case I purchased. The Otterbox incorporates a Cover for the screen. A feature also not provided in the first case. The cover is particularly important to me because I have cats who walk everywhere and I don't have to be concerned that they might scratch the screen, or do other damage at those times when I am not actually using the Ipad.

This case adds the necessary protection without being super bulky. The only thing that is irritating is trying to undo the charging port cover, but that is a not a big deal since I only have to charge the iPad every few days. I do wish these cases were more customizable like other cases Otterbox offers, but that's a purely cosmetic feature that has no effect on the function of the case.

Even the finger print reader is covered, and it still works great! BUT they left out one awesome feature from the other otter box iPad cases.. NO MORE MAGNET to automatically put it to sleep and wake it up :-( I had a Defender case on my iPad2 put it thru XXXX and back and the otter box shrugged it all off, and the magnet saved my batter life as it automatically put it to sleep when the HARD SHEL screen cover was installed. Now with no magnet, no more batter saving bonus :-( PLEASE PLEASE OTTERBOX bring that feature back and allow all of us early buyers the chance to update for a little to no cost please :-) :-)

I've used them for my iPhone and could not bring myself to use anything but OtterBox for my new favorite purchase - my iPad. The second I received it, I knew I made the right purchase. I investigated all other options and everything else just felt cheap. I bought crushed damson just to add a little color and I am quite happy. I do wish they would come out with more colors for the iPad air 2, but the quality makes up for the lack of colors. Very very happy with my purchase and there have been no second thoughts whatsoever...

I assume the weather had something to do with that, I hope. The glass protector I ordered was returned as it said it was not to be used with the defender case. I wish I had a option to get a black rubber. this purple looks horrible with this pink. Other then that this case is AMAZING. It's so skinny. I love this case better then I do the 6plus case. This is a much sleeker and lighter case. Other then wanting a black rubber. 100% on everything.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Adequate Case but.... I like the base/stand/screen protector which other cases do not have. However, the silicone protective cover falls away from the backing. So much so that you can put your finger between the Apple Logo and the silicone cover. Making it very easy for dust and dirt to get into the back of the case and work it's way to the front. My wife's iPad Air silicone cover stays firmly attached to the back. Not sure if this is a design flaw or what. I checked out another at the store after I noticed this problem and it does it too. I love Otterbox and have used them on all my devices but this one is a MISS for me.

For all previous models i used all kinds cases,covers, screen protectors etc,etc,etc. I used as well original apple smart cases and smart cover. So i ended up on a 4 month trip with my iPad Air, the result iPad air was bent a bit somehow, the screen later got cracked, no isurance from apple so i lost my iPad Air. Than i decided i need take it seriously protection of my new iPad, i was looking for something durable, i needed very reliable case. Browsed online, for refernce looked in internet for all kind of cases, reviews. When time has come make a choice i decided go for Otterbox Defender case for iPad Air 2. And i am in LOVE now, looks like I go with Otterbox for the rest of my life LOL. I always hold on to reliable things, i know that Otterbox is exactly what i need. The Defender case is very nicely made, iPad Air so thin and lightweight that after when you place it in the case it has exact weight that i need, it feels good in the hands and i dont have to worry about my IPad anymore at all. This case is a perfection, sweet combination with iPad's perfection makes me feel joy everytime i use my iPad. The guys who designed this case Thank you very much, i Love it. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disappointed I've bought Otterboxes in the past after thorough research and was very pleased, So I bought this product without a second though and was somewhat disappointed. The portholes for the charging port and headphone jack are difficult to open and have to be bent to an extreme angle to remain open. This puts excessive strain on my charger / headphones by the porthole flaps, and I'm concerned that this will wear out the flaps themselves in the long term. That being said, OtterBox is among the best protective cases for an iPad, period.

I have had ZERO problems with the case. I can toss it everywhere without worry! And the color is the best. None of that plain black you see in the stores.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great protection, difficult to install I just purchased an Otterbox to use on my iPad for work. I had an extremely difficult time putting the OtterBox on my iPad. In fact I had to ask someone else to put it on for me because I have arthritic hands. For protection purposes it works very well. I still have difficulty opening up the port to plug it in. Unfortunately I have to use my teeth or get someone else to help me. I understand it needs to be rugged but I’m having a really difficult time with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome case I bought this case right away. It's perfect. I will never use anything else on my iPad. I just wish they had built a quality iPhone 6 plus defender as good as this one. The 6 plus defender is horrible. I cut out the screen protector so I was able to use it without a bubble in the screen. I wish they fixed that case. I'm a long time otterbix user and the 6 plus case was a huge disappointment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Protection When talking protection this is the best case I've used. Yes, it's kind of bulky and a little heavy but I know my iPad is protected. The stand on the other hand is useless. I was able to get the stand to work it for the first day and it got to be too cumbersome to bother using. It just doesn't hold my iPad upright as well as I had hoped. If I'm traveling it's good for added protection but not as a stand. First time I've been disappointed by Otterbox. It's not a deal breaker but it would be nice to have a stand that works.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from iPad Air 2 This is my fourth OtterBox, and I would purchase one again in spite of a couple of problems with the new Air 2 Defender model. Firstly, it's very hard to take the cover off. My wife can't do it, and I have to loosen one clip at a time. Secondly, the cover for the recharging cord connector is also hard to open, and because of its stiffness, it will break off with use. This was also the case with my previous iPad Otterbox too. The power cord connector is a bit hard to reach when connecting the cord, but not as hard as my iPhone 6+ connector cover which I had to cut off to make work without lots of effort. But, in spite of these deficiencies, OtterBox is still the best out there.

I can usually offer suggestions as to how a company could improve a product, but I am truly at a loss - Otterbox has everything covered (ha ha).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from expensive, but worth the money I waited and purchased my otter box for my iPad air and it fits like a glove and appears to offer great protection. The on/off button, and the volume control buttons operate great, which was a problem in other brands of cases. The power port and the audio jack ports are extremely tight and secure. The protective cover also has a built in iPad stand with two levels of viewing angle. The new design incorporates access to the security finger print reader to activate the iPad. Also has little rubber bars in each corner so it doesn't slide on hard surfaces.

We have a 3 year old that likes to play games occationally and I never wanted him to touch the ipad air 2 before because I was so scared of it falling off his lap. This case fits perfectly and sound is still good. All holes seem to line up great. Sometimes my older kids can't get the protective flap open to plug it in but I appreciate the tight fit so that it doesn't stay open when not needed to be. I'd highly recommend this case!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the color, great product! I have only had my iPad Case for a few weeks now but I am definitely satisfied! I got the purple/ pink one and love the color. It's durable, feels secure, I haven't dropped it yet, but trust that it would be ok if I did. I feel MUCH safer taking it places now, knowing that it's protected and the screen won't get scratched if I throw it in my purse and my keys are in there too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stand needs work I LOVE the construction of the otterbox. My only complaint is the stand. It's very inconvenient that it's not built in to the back of the box. It's built into the lid and the iPad has to be placed on the stand once you put the stand up. It's also inconvenient that the lid is not attached. These issues make the case rather spendy compared to some of the other products out there that do offer reasonable protection for a lot less. The otterbox would dominate the market if these issues were resolved.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product..little tweaks needed I always have Otterbox Defender products on my phones and prior iPads. Power button does seem to be harder to push since it is to the back of the Air2. Hoping with use that becomes less problematic. Other than that, great product!

This case for my iPad Air 2 seems very well built, makes it easier to hang onto and looks like it will protect the iPad well. I like the various positions that the case provides and the typing position is just right.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from needs better design!!!! The case is a Great fit. but when you go to shut the ipad off the rubber button on the case doesn't stay on the button on the ipad long enough to shut it off. You have to remove the corner over the button to manually turn it off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Provides great protection My 5 and half year old twins use the iPad all the time and I don't have to worry about them damaging it. They only issue is the cover can be used as a stand and my son did break the pop up to that within a week. That is the only part that seems to be a little under on the super strong OtterBox quality.
