NETGEAR Dual Band 802.11ac Wireless Access Point (WAC104) is rated 3.00 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not a great signal, hard to set up I'm tech savvy and this is not that easy to use until you know how to log in to it. Using the 192.168.... or the website doesn't work. Once in, it's like any other modem setup. However, the signal on this was weaker than the signal on my old modem. I'll use it in an area where I only need to connect one or two items, but I wouldn't consider this a great access point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, except for initial setup on older firmware Pros: - Rock solid reliability. Bought just over 5 years ago and still going on strong. - Performs well as expected for WiFi AP in this lower end class - Still gets firmware updates. Kudos to Netgear for not abandoning hardware like others do. - Has separate physical wireless radio on/off switch. This was one of its selling points for me. You can turn off the radio antennas independently of the router and integrated GigE switch. Cons: - Initial setup was a huge pain and definitely not newbie friendly. I was tempted to bump the rating down to 3 stars just for this but then thought about how other manufacturers also have the same painful setup and decided to subtract only -1 star First we can ignore the fact that the default configuration supplies a SSIDs (which are useless, since we need to first get admin/root access via wired connection to properly configure it. Out of the box it comes with **static IP** configured on 192.168.0.100 (netmask of 255.255.255.0, so subnet of 192.168.0) but the problem is Netgear's own router defaults to a subnet of 192.168.1 so it is unreachable in its default factory state when plugging into my/your LAN. Therefore one has to either switch LAN subnets or create/route to this one, or create a temporary separate local LAN on this 192.168.0 subnet to configure the AP to use DHCP instead, then switch back over to the real LAN NOTE: as of firmware 1.0.4.15 it has changed. According to the manual, since July 2017 the factory defaults now enable DHCP client so you don't have to go through the pain I and others went through previously

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Speed Strong signal in multiple rooms so very happy with performance. Set up was not as straight forward as the instructions would lead you to.believe but overall performance is key.
