Rushed to go get a router. Picked up my nighthawk rax43 and in love!! Strong and no buffering in any of my Rooms. My son got to watch his movies with no problems! Love this unit and very thankful!

I was able to the the AX4200 and so far not disappointed. Very easy to set up with the mobile app. Best Buy also gives you a discount to trade in your old router to recycle. All computers and tablets are connected and working with out issue.

They didn't really do a great job of getting wifi signal to my office PC. Once I upgraded to the Nighthawk router, my speeds have been incredible all over the house and even outside. Highly recommend this router.

Being in the military and moving every 3-4 years it was something I packed into our carry on. But, it started showing its age and finally couldn't keep up with the current ISPs. After buying this new one, my family and I have finally found out what we were missing all those years in terms of internet speeds. All in all, a great router and hopefully something that will still be around in the years forward.

The device dropped the internet connection three times, which meant I had to re-setup the four tvs. I couldn't get it to work properly so I returned it. The app was basically useless. Plug and play. That's the way to go.

Its sleek, outer skin is pleasing to the view, and its front lights or LEDs make the router appear like a futuristic spaceship, giving the user a calm assurance that the router can handle future demands. Rated 5 out of 5 by from The worst device Having owned a Netgear Nighthawk router for years and having been fully satisfied with the device I naturally replaced it with the updated but similar device. Well, this was a mistake. The router itself worked well as I had expected it would, but the app was horrendous. I ended up being locked out of all of my devices including the very tablet from which I was trying to control the router's settings and before this it refused to connect with its server among the many issues. When I returned the router to Best Buy the clerk told me that most of these routers had been returned to the store because of the very poor nonworking app. The app did everything to infuriate me and after 6 hours of trying to make it work, I gave up and reinstalled my 7-year-old Nighthawk with works still just fine. Don't buy this device and Netgear should be embarrassed over their horrible app.

Once scanned it directed me to the Nighthawk app which then guided me step by step for initial configurations. After about 4 minutes I was on the network and speeds have never been faster.

I finally went into Best Buy and asked what is the best way to get better connectivity for the size of my home. So I bought a modem that was just like my old one but did not have routing capabilities. I bought this router to connect to the new modem and called internet provider to get it all set up. You can edit and rename attached devices for easily identifying attached devices by name instead of IP. I haven't found how to reserve an IP range yet but with what I'm seeing I'm sure it has that capability. Connection speeds are great with the ethernet ports and the wifi. When the router was up and running, we would connect to the network and email attachments wouldn’t open, downloads took so long that we’d switch to our weaker gateway network. No instructions in box, just quick set-up card. If app won’t connect, can’t change security settings, etc. 1 1/2 on customer service (good luck getting there!) and couldn’t resolve it. Will never purchase anything else from netgear. Go Motorola!

Keep your receipt when you purchase this or your warranty is non-existent even if you register the thing and use the Nighthawk app. I'm out of $250.

This particular Wi-Fi router (RAX23) has half the range of my last router (Apple Airport Extreme from... ages ago). I used to be able to be at my next door neighbor's house and have no difficulty tapping into my router. Now I have to be inside my home to get a connection. On a related note, the Netgear Nighthawk app is limited in the capabilities it can perform (can't assign fixed IP addresses to the most common items in my home). That said, the performance so far has been reasonable as long as I'm in my home (not the driveway or street as before)

Had a hiccup because I still had spectrum router connected but once I unplugged (wait for 10seconds) , and replugged NETGEARs equipment only, The app links everything and practically set everything up on its own. Definitely download nighthawk app it’s user friendly and provides many options to include added security to protect against hackers, this truly provides next level service for internet management. Mainly because I’ve found items like this are supposed to be easy to set up and then later found all the behind the scenes settings were a nightmare. Fortunately, this truly was a plug and play and most of the alternative settings actually make sense and the instructions aren’t written for a high level network technician. I do wish the coverage extended a bit further and I have found that I can’t turn on the remote support setting. But other than that, I’m pretty happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A couple things I replaced apple time capsule. Not bad after setup. However, I don’t want another subscription to work the router security features - not worth it. The is no way to turn off ‘anywhere access’ on the Netgear app. Browser is best bet for local router access. The WiFi range is not as good as my apple time capsule. I’m still configuring the antennas. I like all the advanced setting options. I also like the DDNS features, and anywhere access. Also. It is doing good with 31 total devices (features says 25 devices max.

I bought new router and placed on opposite side of home in office and placed cable modem in bridge mode. I am not in love with its size though. It was difficult to find the right place for it since it needs to be on a table according to the instructions.

Purchased the AX4200 and wow! Even at the furthest part of the house from the router the signal is strong and speed it fantastic. Easy to configure, easy to connect to and some really cool features. Most of all the speed and connectivity is more than we hoped for. Excellent choice of router if you need coverage with good speed and connections that won't drop.

Getting a wifi signal that was strong enough to both ends of my house was very difficult. This router gets a solid signal everywhere in my house, and even out to the edges of my yard up to 150 feet away from the router.

I used the night hawk to bridge of current router and it’s night and day Wi-Fi is now all over the house 2800 square foot and pulling 10-12 on Wi-Fi and about 15 on lan. Still not the best internet but the nighthawk makes it more manageable best investment.

I recently had workers in my home and I knew that they moved and unplugged a device because I got an alert that the device went offline and then back online. Great Router!

Highly recommended for that bump needed for faster Internet speed, lower speeds are cool for gaming like that 50-75ish mbps but nobody wants to sit around for 5hrs waiting on a game to download, that new 310mbps turns that 5 into maybe 1:30.

No hooking up a computer and having to type in info. Just download the app on your smartphone and follow the instructions. The control this router gives you of your network is awesome. Even when you are away from home, having the ability to see what devices are connected or trying to connect to your network gives peace of mind. You can choose to stop or allow any device use of the internet, like when your kids refuse to clean their rooms, you can freeze their access until its done. Even if they have your password, you can shutdown access. You can even monitor your data usage, which is nice when you have data caps. So glad I went with this router.

The downside was I would get wireless drops, my nest thermostat would constantly lose connection. On top of that some sites would just load extremely slow or not at all…on wireless AND wired. YouTube for example sometimes wouldn’t load at all, even if plugged directly into the router. Swapped back to my old router and everything returned to normal.

Netgear was what the man used and recommended a plethora of options. I have a two story house with a basement and sometimes we hadn’t received the best signal strengths especially when grilling and going outside. In most all cases the wifi only existed in the house. When searching online Night Hawk had the most reviews highest rating and appeared the most on the various websites and for good reason. After using the Night Hawk Router and Modem i must say I would not recommend this item to anyone but demand that it be the standard used across the board.

We increased our internet speed to Gig but the previous router was always lagging and I would have to restart it almost everyday.The Nighthawk AX5 is awesome no more lagging or getting kicked. It can handle multiple devices and the app feature is great. It lets me see what devices are connected, handle security and parental controls, along with speed tests right in the palm of my hand.

The nighthawk fixed all the issues I was having with the router supplied by the cable company. It allowed all my home security, TV’s, Laptops, etc to connect with no issues. The setup was by far the easiest especially with the app. And finally I thought I was going to have an issue with the range. My house is around 2800 sq feet and I figured I would need a mesh system. The nighthawk reaches every part of the house with full signal!

It took us a while to figure out how to set it up, and I think there could have been a little more instructions, but when I installed the app on my phone, it walked us thru the rest of the setup. We love that the lights are not intrusive, as we have it setup in our room (where the cable comes into the house. We are Netgear fans and always will be. If Netgear does beta testing, hit me up because I love quality products.

And it says the firmware update can’t be complete from the app. I contacted support and they told me I would have to update firmware manually with a computer. This unit was purchased to replace an older netgear router that just couldn’t keep up wit our needs. I used the app to install it and it seemed to work great for about 2 days then it was all down hill. It constantly ran slow and then would simply disconnect for no reason at all. Having kids doing virtual school and trying to work from home is impossible. I spent hours on the phone with tech support only to get it working for about an hour. Needless to say this thing is a piece of junk and it’s going back. Don’t waste your money!!

It covers the whole house and no issue if streaming almost all our devices simultaneously. Office zoom meetings and couple of HD TVs without any problem. Also, use of nighthawk app to monitor and control is easy.

My cell service signal strength is weak as it is, and it seems as if something about the router/wifi signal is putting my cell over the edge. I need to go out to my driveway to make a call, or turn off the router. Since I am working from home, this is a negative game changer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Recently had a Nighthawk X6 with a cm750. They were warranty items and were replaced with a cm1000v2 and a ax5. I loved my old set up but this new one is fantastic. While wired I receive all the internet speed from Comcast I can without drops or slowing down. The WiFi on it reaches everywhere in my 2400 sqft home and has fast speeds. Would recommend this product to anyone

I was unable to after a few attempts and once I decided to skip, the device became corrupted and was essentially useless after that. I don’t know if it was that specific model or all of them but was not happy with the device.

Purchased the RAX43 to see if it would help. Easy set up through the app! Essentially unplugged the provider router and plugged in the Netgear. Speeds and coverage are amazing. We have plenty of devices hooked up via Ethernet and WiFi and nothing is slowing this thing down. Love it!

There are plenty of helpful features that you can use to adjust your internet connection. Also, theres some bloatware that you have to load. You cannot log into your network from a pc. I love spending money to go backwards in progress.

I decided to upgrade to the 4200 and gave yet to have any issues. I have connectivity like no other with all of my devices! Speeds are spectacular! All the streaming devices run at speeds like never before. I love how Netgear fails to disappoint with its devices!

Our old modem/router was only 3.0. We are still working through the kinks at the beginning but currently, it is just a tad slower than the old unit, which is frustrating. My wife’s work calls have also been cutting out 2-3x more often since we switched to this router 2 weeks ago.

I have multiple streaming devices running in 4k at the same time plus the kids gaming, and I can still jump on and play my Xbox with no problems. LOVE IT!!!

I purchased the AX4200 and it not only solved my issue, it gave me speed I thought I had. Now I know how slow my internet was because of a bad wifi router. I have blazing speed now. It took a while before I found the user manual. Once connected however the setup went well. The auto 2.5-5G was a bit confusing as it merged my two separate nets into one. This meant I had to re-bind all my devices. But I think I like the idea. Range is fantastic compared to my old router.

So we decided to give the NightHawk a try. There is an app so you can shut specific devices off. It explains which WiFi to use for what. It is awesome. We now get WiFi on a large radius around our house and I could not be happier.

Only complaint is that it does not feel as sturdy as the r7000, cheap flimsy plastic, and seems that the top cover was not installed correctly, it would click under very little pressure, indicating that it was not seated properly.

What was also helpful is this provides 3G and 5G channels which allows us to connect our 5G devices without slowdown. Set up was easy and so far, would recommend this product to anyone with a large home. It WORKS.

It even reaches every corner of my house with fantastic wifi speeds. I was expecting the wired connections to be great which they are but even the wifi speeds average 900mbps or higher. Definitely would recommend a buy if you are looking for a new router

I have a 200mb speed cable plan and in the same room as the router I get 200mb WiFi speeds. My bedroom is a few walls away from the router and still get ~75mb reliably. Totally suitable, but I’ll probably couple this with a wife extender in my room.

I even called customer service and they said they couldn’t do anything about it. I ended up loosing $250 on a router that didn’t even come close to working.

Was getting about 75mbps down max. Now with the netgear getting around 140-180 maps down. Great improvement!! One hiccup is a red light second down from the top--i think its internet? Don't know. I'm not very tech savvy. But it's working great. Should I be concerned about the red light? All others are white. Overall, very satisfied! Ken Chicago

Since this was the second router by this brand that has died on us in less than two and a half years, it was time to just go with a different brand. We choose the Netgear Nighthawk RAX43. The setup with the nighthawk app was a breeze. Had everything up and running with the RAX43 in less than 25 minutes and soon after, had wifi speeds that were dead-on to our paid internet speed. So far our experience with this router and the nighthawk app has been great. Based on that experience, we would recommend it to anyone looking for a great router with easy setup.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Router I’ve had I’ve had several routers over the last few years including NETEAR prior to this one and non of them have been able to keep up. Between 4 phones, 2 gaming consoles, 2 laptop computers, and a tablet. The other routers just didn’t cut the mustard so to say. I’ve only had the nighthawk for about a week, but I get no complaints from anyone. Not to mention I can turn the internet to individual devices when I need to get the attention of the kids. They absolutely hate that feature. Lol

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great buy after some troubleshooting. I kept having problems with my WiFi signal dropping and was recommended this router at BestBuy. The day after I purchased it, the WiFi signal dropped. After having a technician come out from our internet provider, it was determined that the router settings needed to be updated. After calling Netgear customer service, and changing a few settings on the router, we haven’t had a dropped signal in the past few days. Will monitor to make sure it’s been permanently fixed.

When I finished setting it up, I ran a quick speed test, and to my amazement I saw he was getting 930 upload and download speeds....needless to say I’m enjoying my new nighthawk!

After seeing some comments about others having issues with the Nighthawk app to do the installation I was somewhat nervous about what to expect. Following the app instructions step by step my experience was the easiest router swap I have ever done, and I have gone from B to G to N to AC. I love all the information the app provides about the happenings with the unit. Range is awesome and the speed is noticeable with all the devices connected to it. Streaming with no hiccups is huge plus. Not sure what I thought I could gain by going to WiFi 6 but I would do it again knowing what I know now. I would definitely recommend this router to anyone.

I realized that I didn’t have enough download speed in my home and that eventually I would want to upgrade to something more “elite”, and that’s when I researched this product. It feels good to have a network with flawless connection and high speeds. It connects to multiple devices at once and it won’t decrease the upload/download speeds which I love. The mobile app is a blessing in disguise and I love how you can edit setting or test speeds without having to get on a computer. It’s so convenient. If you’re looking for a powerful router that does everything you need it to do, head down to your local Best Buy. You won’t be disappointed.

I’ve used netgear at different points over the past 10 years and ended up going with a cheaper router last time around and had nothing but issues since. Eventually I decided to switch back and while it made a huge difference in reliability and speed when connected to Ethernet the different on Wi-Fi is negligible which is pretty surprising. Still all in all it’s a great product and where my desktop is located I don’t expect the Wi-Fi to be great regardless of router.

My speed has increased from 300 to 400 Mbps. I have 12 devices connected to wifi, and it's nice to know it can handle 25 devices. I love it.

First, I’d like to praise the easy at which the the firmware is designed and deployed for easy use. I can make several network changes, equipment security enhancement and subnetwork performance that fits my needs. Secondly, I believe the the design is handsome and easy to read no matter how it be used mounted or resting on a shelf. Lastly, when paired with the Bitdefender, I have confidence in the security of my network and my personal data. The Netgear brand is solid and I intent to stay wit it until proven otherwise.

I was not able to trouble shoot and got some local help. Just yesterday I was streaming tv via the nighthawk, and it just stopped sending the signal. The box was fully lit up. After resetting all the other gear, it was the nighthawk that was the issue. This item was highly recommended, what’s a gal to do? BA Proctor

The ax4200 did not disappoint. This was very easy to set up for all of my mechanics, on the app, and very clear instructions. I have fast speed internet to all of our mobile diagnostic equipment thanks to the 5G option. I would recommend this 10/10. Here's hoping that this has a good longevity.

I just got this new router because I wanted to make the most out of my spectrum internet plan since I’m paying for 200mbps and the router and modem provided by the provider only reached 80 mbps. This router almost tripled that. I’m at 225mbps now and I can track the speed with the very useful app that is free for the router and setting it up was very easy. I’ve recommended it to all my friends already so our gaming sessions will be lag free and updates won’t take up too much time

The setup was simple and easy through the app and it informs me when someone joins my WiFi. I can also turn on guest WiFi on and Create separate networks within it. Great router and awesome speeds.

I’ve had to call out tech-support multiple times I’m constantly doing speed tests, and then one of my neighbors recommended this net gear router. I ordered it for pick up right away at Best Buy it was ready first thing that day. I installed it which was super Duper easy even for a person who is not extremely tech oriented and my Internet experience at home immediately improved! My Internet is faster, more reliable, and my signal is great throughout my house and my yard! I am so happy I bought this router!

My RAX AX4200 disconnected multiple times a day after first set-up but soon stayed on all the time. The unit covers my 5 bedroom home nicely and easily handles our 18 devices. The device manager lists all devices that connect and indicates if active.

I've had problems with my old router just thinking I needed to buy a wifi extender. I bought another wifi extender again believing hat was the issue but finally got this Nighthawk router. But the bitdefender security sometimes blocks unsecured sites and other times let’s users to access unsecured or suspicious sites. The default router settings are not configured to be at its full capabilities! It is left in the hands of the customers with no technical knowledge to configure and secure the router to its full capacity.

Like anything it is better to read it all once through then do the installation. Have your information(names for channels, passwords ready is better before starting. I was using a Nighthawk R7000 prior to this model had it for about 10 years, I purchased it back in 2014 and was very reliable tech and that’s what I love about Netgear. The RAX43 has met me and my families needs for streaming and gaming. We only have internet service in our home. We are using a 1GB service from Spectrum. And the router performs fantastically! We are extremely happy and satisfied with our investment in Netgear! Thank you guys for your hard work!!! We will be upgrading to the RAXE500 when we move into our new home. We will be adding more wireless devices throughout!!!! Again thank you!!!!

Tried reboot and factory reset and issue continues. Not worth the hassle and time to continue troubleshooting.

Setup was fairly straightforward, and the Nighthawk is functioning fine. Much easier to manage ports when needed, and the Guest Wi-Fi option is great so we don't have to share our credentials with guest.

We have a 4,600 sq. ft. home and we have no issues with coverage in every room. That includes AppleTVs and Roku devices in every bedroom and the family room. This is, without question, the best Wi-Fi router we’ve had. I can absolutely recommend this product.

After much scrolling and research the nighthawk came heavily recommended, I can create my own guest network, detect vulnerabilities, and even turn on smart detect to let it determine if 2/5 G is better based on location and speed. Loving this new router.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stop Deciding. Just Get Netgear We recently were experiencing some internet issues. We called Spectrum to check and they came out and said it was our router. We needed one fast so we had them hook up one of theirs. It was one of their best he said. Yeah, I know. We've been down this road before with bad decision-making. Still dealing with issues so I picked up the Nighthawk AX5 (and AX8 Extender but still could not hook up my security cameras. That was more user error because I'm not tech savvy at all. Camera techs were useless so I contacted Netgear chat and it was magic! Everything is connected and working fine and dandy. Netgear products and their customer service are outstanding. I'm not kidding. It is.

This nighthawk router is super fast for all my devices in the house whether that is TVs, phones, iPads, Xboxs, etc. I will be looking into nighthawk modems next.

I have not added Bitdefender yet. I did seek the assistance and conferred with NETGEAR Support about NETGEAR Armor and Parental Control. Very helpful and software issues resolved. I recommend this router.

Wireless claims speeds of up to a little over 2 Gbps, which is great!*, if you only want that for local connections. The internet connectivity port is only 1Gbps so that is all you will get total. The firmware features leave some to be desired as well. It does support in-built OpenVPN with a simple setup interface, however if you want to run your own VPN or other specialized service, there are no areas in the firmware to setup protocol (not port forwarding. So things like PPTP (Protocol 47) or IPSec (Protocols 50 & 51) you are out of luck on. The price per feature is what is weighing my review, but an additional that had no bearing, just leaving as a note, this router is not openwrt or ddwrt compatible as of this post.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Router So I recently had to replace my old ancient router and got the NETGEAR Nighthawk AX5 5-Stream AX4200 WiFi 6 Router (RAX43), which I have to say I absolutely love, it has a lot of features that are reliable and my favorite it’s the security, I recently clicked on a bad email and it blocked it saying it was unsafe. Security is a big deal these days with all the scammers and hackers looking to steal whatever they can. I would give this router 100 stars if I could.
