I was mostly through setup, before I realized I needed to reset it, since I had bought it second-hand. I had to go through the whole setup process again. I never could view the login screen on the browser, but could at least view the app

So speeds despite the app saying I can stream 4k play video games etc etc all at the same time. As soon as I finally get my laptop connected the smart tv seems to drop out. The smart connect feature between 2.4 and 5 g clearly isn't so smart. Don't buy this

It should also be noted that I’m not the least bit technologically inclined.. from the time I opened the box until now, this Nighthawk AC1900 has been fantastic. My ATT standard equipment didn’t put out much of a signal at all and now I’m able to run many devices all at once, all at a great speed. The app made setup so easy I thought there had to be something I missed. This is a 10/10 and I’d recommend it to everyone.

I went with the Nighthawk for two reasons: one, it’s netgear and I’ve always preferred netgear. And two this is a great dual bandwidth router. A lot of my devices in the house such as Alexa require the 2.4 but others just run more efficiently on the 5 like our phones and iPads. This seems to be the way to go. There’s not so much buffering going on now that the bandwidth is split. “So far, so good”

Works well so far in the coupe weeks I've had it and the app is super easy and intuitive to use. The only thing I noticed like with other reviews is that it does seem to drop the connection more when the armor feature is turned on, I'm not sure why but it hasn't had a problem since turning off that feature. I still highly recommend.

It's in the centre of my house, near the ceiling and I have signal everywhere in a 2000 sq foot house. As a side note, every weekend I will turn off my router and modem for a few minutes to reboot.

I also liked the ability to keep my prior user name and password from my previous router. The app is great for quickly checking things. Also like having the ability to set up guest access. Most routers either aren’t compatible or are difficult to setup. I’m tech savvy, but it gets frustrating watching tutorial after tutorial, only for things not to work how intended. After some research, I knew the Nighthawk series would cover all the bases. This router was by far the easiest router to set up. With an intuitive phone app and professional user interface, I was able to set up my internet my way. My VPN now works flawlessly throughout all my connected devices! My internet is more secure than ever, and the Nighthawk made it easy! A bonus is the incredible wifi range.

The Wi-Fi coverage has shrunk some and it has been getting progressively slower, but for using it continuously for at least 6 years I think it's not horrible. I would buy again.

I read reviews that my new apartment building had... not the best internet offering. With my new NETGEAR86 router I can work from home without worries. My ISP keeps blaming my router for dropping 5G - other connection works. I bought an extender as my apartment is long and my office doesn't pick up the signal as strong. We lose connection and 5G goes out regularly on all devices about once a day, sometimes a few minutes and sometimes for hours. My ISP threatens to charge me if they come out and its my router - so I called Netgear to check out the story. The first time I called Netgear support the support guy got on my computer and told me it was malicious activity in my router and computer causing the issue. I needed to sign a contract for $99/month or a year (forget) and he oculd help me. While on the phone I realized my service had come back on. The jerk was lying to me trying to sell a maintenance contract. So it wasn't my router that was the problem it was my ISP. Our 5G goes out all the time which the ISP blames on the router. Biggest waste of money, complete money pit. I hate both of these brands... I will never buy netgear again. What a dishonest brand. My ISP is WebPass owned by Google.

I have had my internet provider out. I have done the firmware updates. And nothing is fixed. The app is now not working saying "Unable to connect to router" even though it says im connected. I take online college courses and am unable to take exams because it says the signal is too weak, even though i am sitting right by the router. I am beyond frustrated that I wasted the amount of money i did on this. It has given me nothing but issues. I will not buy a Netgear product again. definitely learned my lesson

The speed of this router is impressive, and I have been pleased with the additional security features. I also have been able to access internet in areas of my home that before were slow or not working. So far, so good!

We also currently have a Windows 2007 computer and 3 to 4 year old iPhones so I spent some time researching which system would be compatible and landed on this model. The system was straightforward in setting up. My iPhone X went from 8- 9 Mbps download to 30-40 Mbps download if that helps. We relied a lot on our WiFi system with our phones since our general reception is bad so this was a huge improvement.

During my time with this router it was used to the max and preformed like a champ. Either daily school use or a hardcore gaming session it was up to the task. I recommend this router to anyone!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Started out ok The router setup was a breeze, and I really wanted it to work, however from about 1 hour use to 72 hours of use, I had to restart the router due to it dropping connection at least 5 times; due to this, I returned it and went with a Linksys router, that hasn’t required 1 single restart in 4 days.

My smart TVs have a clearer picture, devices run smoothly with 2 kids and 1 adult on 30 min zooms at one time. I also tried streaming on 3 TVs through Netflix on one, Disney on the other, and Xfinity on demand on the third and it worked perfect with zero lag. I back this product 100% and couldn’t be happier with the cost and performance!

When I upgraded my modem with our local internet supplier the representative told me that I also needed to get a more capable router to accommodate the amount of devices we would be using on the wireless router. I went to a national Technology store to find the best wireless router to fit our needs. After talking to an associate at the store he immediately handed me the NIGHTHAWK AC1900. When I got home, the set up couldn’t have been easier and my family could see the immediate impact. We currently have 2 phones, 2 laptops, thermostat, echo show and 3 streaming sticks on the network.

A few people recommended this Nighthawk, and it’s SO!! MUCH!!! BETTER!! We haven’t had any connection issues so far, and things seem to run so much faster and more smoothly. I don’t plan on going back to any other router after this.

I thought it would improve dropoff of sigmal through my 1800 sq foot 2 stiry house but it the same as what it was before wiith the old router. Plus side is it does have more features than the old router.

The 1750 worked great for us for 4 years, covered our 1700sq ft home with a full finished basement and never had a problem with our connection. This new was was supposed to work better according to the salesman but in the past week or so we can’t receive a signal about half the time. Wish we would have went a different route

I was losing my mind not being able to do my school work and actual online job, until I purchased this NetGear Router. Now I have a stable, constant internet connection at all times and can do as much work as I please, when I please. Truly saved me!! Plus the password protection makes it so that I have control of who can and can’t use the touter’s service at any given time, which both makes me feel safer and keeps the router from getting overwhelmed by devices by accident. It’s a god send!

As they no longer provided a dual band router and I still use some 2.5Ghz devices, my internet searches for routers led me to the Netgear Nighthawk. The installation was very simple and the Nighthawk mobile app worked perfectly for a simple and fast install. I have a 3400 sq ft single floor home and I was able to use my Netgear Extender to sync with my Nighthawk to extend my wifi to the farthest point in my home. I love the monitoring and support features in the Nighthawk app and my overall wifi speeds have increased over 2x throughout my home. I am connected with 2 laptops, a network printer, 2 iPhones and 3 Roku devices for a 4K smart tv and 2- 720 dpi tv’s totaling 8 devices. I am currently using 2 of the 4 wired connections for a laptop and the network printer and everything else is wireless and exceeding my expectations. Outstanding product and simple installation!

Although in the last 2 years we get frequent short bursts of disconnection. Sometimes its the ISP because the modem wont connect but a lot of times the modem is connected but struggling to connect to the router. Not sure if thats an issue with the age of the router or with the modem but have been thinking about upgrading the router because of the age and connection problems recently.

I continue to buy this R7000 model because it provides the most and flexible features with Advanced functions. It took me a little time to figure out choosing between Bridging and Repeating modes. But once it works, it is always robust to connect!

Only had one issue with it (stuck in bridge mode), but that's so far the only issue and I've had it for 6 years now! Excellent work, Netgear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Router is still solid Just registered but mine has been in use for about seven years now. After network setup and tweaking, I’ve had no real issues to date. Currently on a gigabit plan, running all wireless devices. My desktop PC gets around 800mbps about 25 feet from the router. I have both bands transmitters turned down to 75% and they still cover my 1400sqft house. Around 10 devices connected at once, probably only 5ish streaming at once but no issues. Great router, was a bit pricey but spread across the 7ish years I can’t really complain.

I read lots of mixed reviews but ultimately decided this was the way to go. My wife and I just had a baby so to save on living cost we moved in with my sister-in-law and her boyfriend. I am an avid gamer and also a cable cutter so we stream all content. I needed a router that could maintain all 4 persons connections without compromising speed or latency. The Nighthawk router does just that and has out performed my expectations ten fold. Just the other night I was online gaming and we had 2 other TVs streaming with everyone in the house still connected on there phones and the connection worked flawlessly. I encourage anyone looking for a reliable device to buy this router. You won’t be sorry.

Since installing, I have been nothing short of extremely satisfied. The blazing fast internet speed on numerous devices, completing numerous projects for work and school under deadlines are no longer a worry. Having loved ones connect to my internet is also seamless! I no longer have to reboot or troubleshoot any internet issues that I had in the past. Totally worth the money! 10/10 would buy again!

Before I would lose wifi about 20-30ft from the router and with the Nighthawk R7000 I get full wifi almost 50-100ft from the router all the way out to the garage. I used to have a streaming stick that was so slow and after upgrading the router using the Firestick has also drastically improved menu lag.

Bad: If you mount it on the wall, which they do not recommend you mount it upside down from what I read online, the network ports are on top around the antenna and the cables hang weird. I mainly bought this router for the VPN. There is no way to revoke VPN access once it is created, unless creating a new one revokes the old profile but then that means you cannot have multiple profiles. I would love to be able to revoke and have more than one VPN profile. Overall: It seems good so far but could use some improvements.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Difficult and unreliable My router arrived very quickly. I knew it should be an easy install, but I was incredibly wrong. No matter what I did it still would not work. I gave up and called tech support. The woman was so rude that I almost hung up, but I needed her help. Once it was working I was very pleased with the speed. The only issue was that it needed to be rebooted 2 to 3 times a day every day to regain any connection. I gave up and decided to buy a different brand. While reading reviews a guy that said he did a factory reset and reinstalled his router and it worked. So, I tried it too. Now it works nicely except puts itself to “sleep” requiring me to prompt it through the app. Overall, the install was not easy and it’s frustrating to wake it constantly. I personally think there are better and easier routers available. If mine continues to “sleep” it’s getting returned.

The troubleshooting team is terrible all they offer you is different variations of a restart and they don’t care if it fixes it or not just going though the motions. They did this for 3 days straight before telling me the modem was the issue. Purchased a new one and and still getting kicked off my wifi. Service/Equipment is awful. it’s been a week and still no working internet.

There are days that it does this several times a day. I am in school online. I have timed tests that I have to take. It has cut off in the middle of my tests a few times. Customer support is lousy. They give you 14 days unless you want to pay almost what you did for the router to get their “extended coverage. I won’t be buying another router from them again. This one is going in the garbage!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rocks It Out! I am so impressed with this WiFi Router. I was getting messages that my old router was weak, security wise, and that bothered me. Also working from home for over eight months I have a ton of sensitive data I would never want exposed. My computers, (personal and work) seemed to be dragging so I felt it was time. I researched and read the reviews on this and was impressed. I had it setup within15 minutes and then connected the rest of my toys up to it. Wow! No more weak security, no more dragging internet, and the increase in speed was amazing! I am one happy Netgear Nighthawk WiFi Router owner!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best purchase of 2020! 4390 sq fr house, 8-14 devices connected at any given time including playstations, tvs, phones, security cams, etc. Before Nighthawk, I had to reset my modem 4-6x per day. I’ve now owned this router for 3 weeks and have yet to have to restart or reset. All devices have worked flawlessly. And I could not be happier. After having such disappointing WiFi for so long, I only wish I had heard about this router 2 years ago. Lol. Won’t be disappointed if you purchase this router.

I was able to turn off the password security as I live away from any other people and have multiple wi-fi printers, copiers, security systems, smart tvs, remote access point, phones etc, etc, and I HATE have to set everything up for a password. There was no way to turn off the password from the internet providers - Century Link - router they sent me so bought this Netgear R7000. Love it so far. Currently getting 300mbps on wi-fi.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Router for our needs Our family recently cut the cord and went to streaming TV service, however the modem/router given by Suddenlink was not nearly powerful enough to handle the demand not get anywhere near Gigavit speeds even hardwired. This router has been able to handle the WIFI demand we needed as well as the wired needs. Overall, could be better at getting Gigabit speed or even close to it via wired. But it does what was most needed very well which is better WIFI.

We started experiencing connection issues with the old router, and felt an upgrade was needed. The Nighthawk Wi-Fi router doubled our wifi speed and all devices are working well, even a device in our garage which did not connect well to the old wifi router indicating the Netgear has better range. Very satisfied thus far.

I was super excited to get router, I had looked at it the first time around, but wasn't able to purchase at that time. We have only had it for several weeks, but have found it is dropping its connection once a week that we have to keep receting it (disconnecting the power plug). We are in the process of figuring out why this it. Currently we are slightly disappointed, but hoping that changes soon.

The Nighthawk AC 1900 is powerful, easy to set up and manage and is in fact an upgrade from my previous router. Almost as important as functionality was the price. At about 170$ US the Nighthawk was an affordable alternative to the Core. In short, I feel that I got what I paid for and then some.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can’t do much better than AC1900 I bought this router about 4 years ago when I wanted to upgrade my equipment to get better whole-house coverage. While I haven’t achieved perfectly reliable whole-house coverage, my AC1900 router has gotten me the closest I’ve been. Out of the box, the device simply works. The setup is easy, and the built-in features are all you need to deliver secure and fast Wi-Fi to your home. Your mileage may vary if you have a particularly large house, in which case you would probably benefit from a repeater (or an even higher-end router. Regardless, for the price, this device is excellent for most people. My only quibble would be that the QOS feature doesn’t seem to work all that well: we seem to lose connection frequently when it’s turned on, and our WiFi speeds seem to be slower in general. Otherwise, we’re really happy with the setup.

It goes in and out several times a day, and I’m constantly having to unplug this router. I’ve contacted Xfinity and they say it’s probably the router. I’ve dealt with Netgear (huge pain!) and everything is find on their end. So I honestly don’t know if this is a bad product, or if I have a bad provider. They’re each blaming the other.

Signal doesn't extend far enough. A friend has one the reaches about 250 feet. Set up is easy, unit looks nice, seems to be assembled well.

Then I decided it was time to use the nighthawk app for more control over devices since my children are older enough for electronics. Since I started using the app, I have had to reboot the router about once a week. It will say that is is online and connected to the internet but my devices will not work. Yes, I have check to verify that they are connected to the wifi with a strong signal. Still have to reset. I still get the same area coverage and signal strength so that is why the three stars.

This new router is much faster and much has wider range which is very important to get internet service throughout our spread out three level house. I strongly recommend Nighthawk AC1900 to anyone who needs better internet service.

It kept saying my facial recognition was incorrect and when I manually entered my password it said it was incorrect too. Called customer service to help, was able to set everything up by opting out of using the app. Then said I had to respond to a confirmation email within 24 hours of the setup. Never received the email to confirm and now the router stops working every night and requires a reboot. Other than that... it works great throughout our 3000sqft house!

At the time I was in possession of just a modem, and the WIFI company I spoke to told me I was going to need to pay $80 for installation. Being the DIY person I am I found this router and installed it myself. It took about 15 minutes and the directions were extremely easy to understand. I like the app features and customizations. I am throughly satisfied with my router.

I pushed it back in and configured the router which seems to be working OK. However, I only get 300Mb wireless on 5G while I get 600Mb+ hardwired. I'll check with support today to see if the antenna might be an issue.

The instant it connected to my devices, the speed almost doubled, and no more internet "fade". No more annoying disconnections. The best part: The security features are easily accessible on my phone and I love that it messages me if anyone connects or attempts to. By far my best purchase of the year! The easy access USB ports will come in very handy in the near future! Thank you Netgear for always producing the highest quality and most reliable routers out there!

I purchased the Nighthawk and it is incredible no lags and works throughout our home. I just wish I had purchased one a long time ago. My wife no longer complains abut wifi since we installed the Nighthawk. Also their customer service was second to none meaning they were Great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stopped working shortly after warranty period Had this router for 1 year and 2 months exactly and what do you know, stopped connecting to the internet. I have a seperate modem that I connect to this router. When it worked it was alright, wifi speeds are really slow to be honest. Seems to be a trend with netgear products. I have never had one last more then a year or so. Anyway, the r7000 was receiving internet from my modem but not sending internet to any devices. Tried power cycling and factory reset and still nothing. Ended up buying a new router and everything works great again so clearly the netgear r7000 was defective after 14 months of use. and for the price point I would hope to get more out of it. I have been a loyal Netgear user for years but this was the last straw. Bought a Linksys product this time around. Netgear has just consistently been an OK product when it works and they also stop working after about a year of use. Waste of money, look elsewhere.

The auto change between 2.4 and 5 mhz has been nice, especially with the newer devices that can handle it. Lots of settings and control for guest/private networks. The parental control are a nice feature, if you need it. The Nighthawk app is sweet when new devices come online with notifications. Biggest thing I have to do is backup my settings, in case of a long power failure. Learned that the hard way.

So we asked one of our tech relatives what to get and he said this router had very good coverage. We got it. Extremely easy to set up. It was no more than 15 minutes from start to finish, including the unboxing. Coverage, including a Roku device on a TV, has been great. There’s no lag, even on the Roku. Highly recommended.

Unfortunately, it keeps randomly dropping the internet even after updating the firmware. The technician who helped install Webpass says this has apparently been an issue w/ this specific model.

You can use a laptop or cellphone over the app they offer. The app doesnt install it so you need to manually search on google for the netgear link. Then it runs amazing after the firmware update. Rated 5 out of 5 by from The jury is still out I’ve been having trouble with my router since day one. Not necessarily with the router but with getting the router to sync with my modem. Somethings not right either with my Internet server or my router. I’m still trying to find out after three conversations with Netgear and two service calls from my Internet provider. I can submit a review laterAs I have another service call scheduled with my provider in a week. In addition I plan to call net gear and ask them a few questions regarding my 5G service on the router. Which unfortunately doesn’t seem to be working. Hopefully the tech-support can make some adjustments and it’ll get better. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Thank you

Upgraded from a $25 router found online since we couldn‘t create a secure guest network and control traffic between segments, as well as issues with the wifi not reaching most of the apartment. The Nighthawk is amazing and offers so much for such a great price. I love being able to have the ability to control my network in an easy to use UI for side projects like honeypots, guests, and keeping IoT devices off the main network!

Also the security protection is really nice. It scanned everything attached to the network. I would recommend it to anyone and I will be recommending it to my friends

Even though I am a 30-year veteran of IT, the setup and config was no problem and I was up and running in no time. Then, when my cable modem stopped working, this router had the advanced features I needed to set it up as a wireless access point for my network. But the thing that I appreciate about the R7000 is that it allows me to setup a VPN on the router, thus hiding my Internet activity from prying eyes. I recommend this router to anyone, no matter their comfort level with technology.

After Spectrum connected it correctly, it reached it reached 500mbps ( we had upgraded). Therefore, it is capable.

This actually slowed my DL/UL speeds. I thought by purchasing this router I could boost my speeds and it did. I am now running speeds just over what I had when I was renting the cable modem/router from my provider. Decent product, but required me to purchase two products to achieve a speed similar to what I had when renting from my provider....maybe I should have stuck with their unit??

I like the fact that it has Amor built into it and plan on subscribing to it after free 30 day trial. I have 2 streaming TVs,2 phones, Arlo doorbell and cameras, tablet, baby camera, 2 4K Roku streaming device and the connection is GREAT! Had my first issue yesterday with the router. For some reason I lost internet connection and had to reboot router. Other than that i am pleased.

Only after 10 years did it start to randomly drop wifi signals, so I had to replace it. This is by far, one of the best routers I’ve ever used.

It became really frustrating to have an unreliable Wifi signal, especially when streaming shows. Finally, after a couple months of trouble, it decided to just not completely reboot and is stuck in the reboot cycle. A very unreliable product, will not be buying another Netgear product.

After that started dipping as low as 30/30,then sometimes back to full speed... Dealt with my isp to figure out it wasn't my connection, then isp tells me my router is busted... Tried factory resets, different firmware versions. Always the same problem.... Switched the netgear firmware to dd wrt aftermarket firmware and have 800 down and 690 up.... Great quality router plagued by tons of firmware bugs and bloat

I use other Netgear equipment in my home network and they’ve always been reliable, more importantly... I can trust the company and know if there was a problem that it would be solved as quickly as possible.

With previous routers we just did not have the coverage we have with our Netgear R7000. We use to have issues with running the wireless devises with other routers (not do to internet speed). We now have no issues, it works great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Range When we had our new ISP install their equipment in the corner of our basement we temporarily put the Nighthawk AC1900 Router down there as well - with the intent to run ethernet cable to a more centralized area on the first floor. Well it's been a year and half and there's still no reason to move it. We have 12 devices connected and have never experienced a connection problem, even when we're outside on the patio over 100' away! I would strongly recommend this router to anyone in need of a great dual band wifi router.

It generally works fine, but twice now in the past week or so of having it, it’s gone “offline.” Usually after rebooting it or replugging in everything it starts working again, but it’s still frustrating and I don’t know why it’s happening or how to prevent it. Besides that, I don’t even think about it bc it’s doing its job.

The ease of installation was great for a person who is not that familiar with the differences or this type of technology in general. We were using a much smaller Netgear router with an extender in our hallway, this new router eliminates any need for the extender. Our house is a multi-level and the 2.4ghz sends full signal from end to end, and the 5ghz band is about 3/4 strength in the furthest reaches. We also love the ability to install and run our VPN directly at the router so all of our devices are protected versus our old system we had to run our VPN separately on each device.

Ive been having issues with my verizon router getting disconnected and the lag was extremely frustrating I did some searching I purchased this Nighthawk .We have not had almost any lag or been disconnected from the internet at all and we have about 10 devices connected to the bad boy !!! Love it !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from update issue the router is amazing with all the latest features. the only issue i had was updating the firmware via nighthawk app that was recommended via the manual inside the box when following the instructions the process kept timing out. eventually had to manually download the update using a laptop an manually install the update the app is still glitchy with the update but functions at times but overall the performance of the router itself is good

We reset the router and it works better but we may need to disable the smart connect feature as our TV still freezes. Overall good router.

Our old R7000 was about 3 years old and was dropping the connection or bogging down a couple times a week I always had to reboot to clear the issue. So after talking to a Best Buy guru I purchased a new one in hopes of getting a more stable connection. Well the first week was great faster speeds and no rebooting until Saturday morning when the orange light came on and it was reboot time. With the wife working from home now and both boys remote with college studies I am really hoping that having to reboot the router does not become an issue.
