Product Reviews
Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 74reviewers.
Rated 2 out of 5 by Vertical line on screen + no NVMe on Windows 7 Bought a brand new T460s with Windows 7 and the intention of upgrading the SSD to NVMe technology.First of all, the screen has a vertical line that is almost exactly at the middle of the center. It is almost as if the screen is made of two independent pieces of glass that were glued together. It shows very clearly when the screen exhiits a large area of the same color (example the desktop or a blank word document).More importantly, I wanted to install a new NVMe SSD. Bad luck, as it is (at least to me) impossible to make Windows 7 recognize my SSD on this computer. Windows 8 recognizes, Windows 10 recognizes (even Linux does), but no dice with Windows 7.I searched the support and they have some (half-backed) guides that supposedly should enable you to install the NVMe hard drives, but after multiple attempts I had to gave up.My advice... If you want to run Windows 7 in a computer with a good screeen, and that supports new technology, buy a product from a manufacturer that provides you with better software utilities, not from a supplier that expects you to learn DISM and have an exercise in futility, and still not be able to install Windows 7 properly.A word to Lenovo: The T460s is a business computer. Many businesses still use Windows 7. If you want to have corporate consumers who want to use Windows 7 in Lenovo computers with modern SSDs, you need to do a better job at providing ways so that consumers can actually install the SSD and the software. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Machine I just received my T460 last week and I absolutely love it. The one problem I have noticed is the battery life. It only lasts for about 3 1/2 hours at the most. This concerns me specially if I am on an international flight and may not have access to a power plug. The computer works great and is very fast. January 9, 2017
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great for my needs I spent a lot of time researching laptops before I settled for this one. I have used this laptop for over a month now and so far I am very satisfied with it, no issues. I am a student so I use it mostly for school related tasks and it has been a pleasure so far. It is fast, it is lightweight, the typing experience is wonderful and I also like the simple, elegant design and actually really like the black color (at first I was avoiding black laptops, haha). I love the keyboard! At first, when it arrived, I wasn't sure about it, the keys seemed to be huge compared to my old laptop. But I got used to it and I love typing on it. I needed a machine that can handle all sorts of documents open at the same time and this one does a great job. Also, the laptop is super quiet and gets warm only moderately, which was one of the key requirements for my new laptop because my previous laptop had serious issues in that area. Overall, this laptop is a great upgrade from my previous one and good enough for my needs. There isn't much I can complain about, but I have few comments:1) The battery life is far from advertised 10 hours, but I was expecting this based on the reviews I read before the purchase. On average, I would say it lasts around 5 hours when I use Word, Excel, have 15 Chrome tabs open and listen to some music online. The battery charges pretty fast up to around 95%, but then it takes quite a long time to reach 100% charge.2) The screen could be better, it'is the only thing that I like better on my 4 year old laptop (it was much brighter), but I got used to it. Other than the brightness, the quality of the picture is really nice and sharp. Also, after a lot of thinking I got the FHD screen, I am not sure I would be able to appreciate QHD much more.3) Every time I unplug the laptop from the charge, the screen blacks out completely for around 2 seconds. At first I freaked out, but it's been doing this consistently every time, so I guess it's normal?Overall, I recommend this laptop and I hope it will serve me well for a long time! January 4, 2017
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor keyboard layout. First the good features. The 460s is light weight and easy to travel with. The IPS screen looks good. The keyboard layout is not to my liking, but otherwise it is a fine notebook. January 4, 2017
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product My laptop arrived 2 week ago and upon use it works great. It is light weight and slim design and the engine run smoothly - quiet and fast. I connect it to a external display in my office and can easily take it home with me. Love it. December 28, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love my new machine! Great laptop. Keyboard is easy to use. I love the tablet feature. Everything about it is streamlined and user friendly. It holds a charge for several days. Best tech gift ever! December 28, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Skylake POWER this computer has the power to play games like a boss December 23, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by A better Carbon than the Carbon in many ways Had both a Gen 1 and Gen 3 carbon. They were both great, but I always missed a real ethernet port, a real thinkpad docking station, and a few other tidbits that the super slim Carbon required to make its form factor work. The T460S is almost as light as the Carbon, almost as thin, but has all the smaller features that I missed. It also is more configurable to some extent, and has more options, including socketed memory, which is always helpful.I opted for the T460S in lieu of a Carbon Gen 4, and am very pleased so far, especially with the real docking station that works reliably, instead of the other "soft" docking approaches for the Carbons, that gave me trouble over the years.
