Rated 5 out of 5 bybuck from poor workmanshipThis is 3rd time I've replaced this adapter. The cord should not be straight, there should be an elbow at the point where the adapter plugs into the computer . This will prevent the cord from fraying and eventually breaking.

My guess is that as long as the adapter that plugs into the laptop and the cord are in a straight line there would be little wear. But with a life span of 1.5 years I feel it is worth the money.

However, the design in the flexibility portion of the plug-in causes the wiring to shed and fall apart easily. I had to replace mine before having it for 2 yrs. The wiring came a part at the plug-in end to the point it wouldn't charge anymore. Electrical tape did not help. Poor design = mediocre rating. Plus the value isn't that great when universal a/c adapters can be bought at a cheaper price- with same quality if not better. I would look elsewhere until the design is fixed to be more durable.

Rated 5 out of 5 byheywally from It doesn't meltThe best part of this adapter is that it doesn't seem like it will MELT, unlike the 2 cheaper 'off brands' I recently went through, but it does get very warm. I don't think it should cost this much though, especially since the poor design of it causes the internal wires on the cord to eventually break, at the bendable area where it plugs into the laptop -- in my case, about 1 1/2 years. And also, BTW, the connection where it plugs into my computer is looser than it should be so I'll just hope it won't get more so.If I were sticking with Windows laptops -- which I'm not, moving to MAC's -- this adapter issue would actually cause me to not buy another Lenovo.

Rated 5 out of 5 byjayb from Flawed Cord Connection DesignEvery year the Lenovo AC Adapter gets slicker, thinner, and seemingly more portable and user-friendly. But the original cord design that inserts directly into the laptop remains flawed. What a terrible design that has not been changed for at least 3 years! The thicker barrel grey plastic tapers drastically downward, creating a central point that actually increases the amount of stress and bending on the connector itself. Contrary to the design intention, the larger banded widths between the plastic grooves accentuate the flexibility of the connector, which ultimately increases the amount of force on the cord and leads to cable fraying and cord breakage. In agreement with Buck’s review, there should be either (1) an elbow design where the adapter plugs into the computer in order “to prevent the cord from fraying and eventually breaking” or (2) the overall plastic barrel design should be more slender, less tapered to a central point and incorporate thinner groves (similar to the small groove width size of any standard networking ethernet cable). Lenovo should review the Dell A/C cord designs and implement the beveled cord features rather than stick with their initially flawed design that is by far not Think-brand worthy.

The constant wiggling back and forth from charging eventually wore the wiring in two at the base of the plug in. I am glad I caught it before it caused a short and a fire. This is the only place I could get a replacement since my laptop is over five years old.
