Product Reviews
Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 24reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good for what we are using it for We purchased a couple of these to take to shows and they work great. I put a movie that automatically starts so all the sales people have to do is plug it into the HDMI port and USB for power, turn on the TV and computer and they are all set. Works great! Rated 1 out of 5 by Unacceptable Performance I purchased two of these about six months ago. I got in the habit of converting my DVD's to digital media, in order to help protect the original DVD media, and for ease of watching. That being said, I have a small home network set up with my office computer, living room entertainment center, and a TV in my bedroom. What appealed to me about these was the size and cost. The fact that you could basically just plug this into the back of a TV was a great idea. Another thing I liked was the fact that it was a SSD, which (theoretically) meant that it should last for a long, long time! So... Like I said, I bought two of these about six months ago. The Wi-Fi was a little slow for my taste; I had to copy movies to the ideacentre Stick in order to watch them without a ton of lag. However, cost and ease of use aside... I haven't used either of them much. I've used the one that I set up in my bedroom a dozen times, maybe. The one in my living room, I've used even less. Last night, as I was in the middle of watching a movie, the ideacentre in my bedroom gave me the Win10 version of the BSoD. It said it experienced a problem and had to restart. A few minutes later, the BSoD turned orange. The problem is... It never restarted. After waiting nearly 20 minutes, I went over and unplugged it. Waited 5 minutes, plugged it back in, hit the power button... and nothing. I was a little frustrated and more than a little irritated (like I said, I was in the middle of a movie) but I just shut everything off and went to bed. This morning, I got up and went to turn it on...and it's still non-responsive.Needless to say, I'm not impressed. I was hoping to avoid having to build a media machine for my bedroom. The ideacentre was a great concept, since I could basically turn my TV into a computer monitor/entertainment machine. Except, that only works if the product works. I have a desktop computer that I built about 8 years ago that is constantly powered on, has been used as a server for my entertainment machines, and still works just fine. Oh... And there's no SSD in it. At all.I can definitely say that I won't be buying another one of these. I don't know what warranty this had, but it's not worth it. If it were possible, I'd give it zero stars... however, the one in my living room still works (for now.) September 14, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by great computer I got mine for my birthday in June it's Sept. Now and I have not issues yet September 2, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by ideacenre stick I purchased to replace an Amazon Firestick that got hit by lightening. Very happy with the ideacentre stick. The Lenovo keyboard remote is a little awkward to use but it's ok. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] September 1, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Price/Performance for a Stick PC I purchased the Lenovo Ideacentre Stick 300 to R&D as a portable computing solution in place of a notebook or desktop, when there is a display and keyboard easily available at the remote work and WiFi locations. In summary, I am impressed that for $100 plus a few more in some convenience cabling and accessories that you can have a very functional computer workstation that is easy to tote around in a shaving bag sized pack you can carry in a backpack. In my usage, I chose to add a $10 USB hub, and when convenient, brought along my USB unified keyboard and mouse for added convenience to avoid the WiFi concerns with sharing the antenna with Bluetooth accessories. Since it is clean Windows 10 Home, everything just worked as expected.I had no issues adding Citrix, WebEx, Jabber, Firefox, Office 2010 and related integration components to the on-board storage. I had no issues connecting to work related resources with this setup. I even used my USB Platronics headset for remote meetings.I also used the Edge browser and Firefox for browsing the web at the office and remote locations with no issues.Agreed, the on-board 32GB is cramped, but with the microSD card slot, and the USB hub, I was able to add other storage as needed just like my normal desktop. Rated 5 out of 5 by wonderful idea could use a little more haaard disk I am a paraplegic who is more or less bed bound. Before I was run off the road by a drunk driver. I was a head engineer for a fortune 500 company. Now I do small projects for the same company. They asked me to find a little computer for the 200 or so repair techs to use. This computer on a stick is a wonderful little invention. let me tell you how I have mine hooked up.First you have to get a USB 2.0 hub at least 4 ports I do not understand why every review I have read people are moneing and groaning about only having 1 USB port. I jus6 dug through my piles of parts and found an old 4 port powered hub, it is very important that your hub is powered. Now that you have some ports you use the first port for a wireless keyboard and mouse. As I told you I spend a lot of time in bed I use a air mouse keyboard made by TAO Tronics the cool thing for me is that you just wave the thing around and the mouse pointer moves. I have a 40 inch flat screen bolted to the end of my hospital bed, so it works out pretty cool that is if you are a good thumb typer. The 2nd. port on the hub is used by a 2 TB USB hard disk which I load up with about 200 movies off of my server that I decoded with a program called 1Click Pro, it is actually intended to break the copy protection on DVDs so you can copy them. with a little trickery you can save a copy to hard disk, and then you can play them back using VLC a freeware audio move player right off of your hard disk. The third port on my hub has a USB BD player. The 4th port goes to my printer.I think that I will try a 7 port hub, just to see what happens. As for cons it is not quite as fast as my 4 CPU blade server. The server being at least 100 times fasterBut it is nice to watch movies from my HD or streaming off of Netflex, when I cant stand the pain of sitting in my wheelchair anymore.Have fun this a real cool little computer. I have had mine running 24/7 for over 6 months now.Well my thumbs are wore out.Just remember the only thine you need to make these into a nice little computer is a powered hub. July 23, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by IdeaCentre300 Bought 3 weeks ago because I use Lenovo products at work; performs average- likely no better or worse than other comparable equipment on the market; not being a techie makes it difficult to evaluate hardware. July 7, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Small I hooked mine up to a 4-inch monitor, to create the world's smallest computer! I hope future models have speeds >2.6 GHz. July 2, 2016
