My Review for GP65NB60
I have been somewhat suspicious of the lightweight slim portable DVD burner/player drives that I borrowed to satisfy a short term need, but after reading the reviews of the LG 65NB60 I decided to bite the bullet and buy one for myself.
This thing is solid, rugged, quiet and works like a charm. It seems better built than the other units I borrowed, and the speed and performance is much better than I expected. I am MCSE and A+ certified and have been in the business since b4 the first CD read/write drives came installed from the factory. Great Portable DVD Drive
This drive has an easy setup. Just plug it and windows usually does the rest in a matter of a couple of minutes. Burns discs rather quickly, so far I have not gotten any disc errors using it.

Can't get it too work.
Minimal directions and no hints/suggestions if it doesn't work. Only big disclosures saying it doesn't work on all TVs. Well, I have a brand new smart TV. Why it wouldn't work is beyond me

Very Disappointed.
I bought this a little under 2 months ago, and it worked great for about 2 weeks. I bought it for my acer chromebook so that I could view jpeg files and do my homework for school. I was able to use it for about 2 weeks and then it stopped working. The disk just spins and will no longer read. I starting thinking there was a problem with my chromebook, which I bought at the same time, so I had a friend use it on her Macbook (She has used mine previously, and it worked fine). The drive didn't work on hers either. I am just so annoyed because I made sure that I bought a chromebook and an external drive that were compatible for school, and now I'm back to using the school's outdated computers that are usually broken. The price was reasonable, but not worth 2 weeks of use. I do not recommend.

Can't get it to play DVD
I bought this product with the idea that I could play a DVD. Inserted a disc after installing correctly, and only the audio would play. Tried another DVD and still could not get it it to play. It's not as simple as plugging in and "deciding what to do with the disc." Have some feelers out to some friends to figure out why I cannot get it to work.

Not bad . . . EXCEPT
So far I've had a couple of issues--one particularly important for me: 1) the write speed seems slower than indicated by X__; 2) if burning a file that requires more than one blank disc to complete . . . it simply re-burns the first part over and over again, asking for an additional disc to be inserted ad infinitum! Great value for money
I bought this a week ago and had already burnt some 10 DVDs with it. It is indeed noise-less and very light-weight and that's where my problem is too.. The product is very prone to damage as the plastic feels flimsy and easily bendable. That is the only con. I love that it requires only one USB port and not two like some other brands. The size of a CD case
This unit fulfills my expectations completely. Slim, having dimensions of a CD case, requires quite a small footprint. The installation could not have been simpler. Remove it from the shipping carton, plug in the USB cable, insert the installation disk and within minutes I was playing a DVD. The software provides viewing/writing capability and also contains file backup to preserve computer file. Slow, slow, slow

Works just as expected.
I bought this a couple months ago and it has been working flawlessly, 'cept for a small tiny detail. Yesterday it sent me a message I didn't take too much notice about something concerning to the Power2go software and when I tried to burn a new DVD it changed the burning option from the name of the Optical Drive to Image Recorder DVD 5 or 9 and the PC froze. I had to reset it and change the burning method. I have no complains up to this day except for that one and I have to say it's a really great OD, reliable and fast. Insert a blank cd to begin
This worked fine until it did not. Now when I try to burn a cd, it will usually say insert a blank cd. Sometimes the cd will be recognized after opening and closing many times. It usually just spins for a couple minutes and then stops. If the cd ever gets recognized it will spin much faster. I will probably buy another device. Don't buy if you have mini discs
I researched, was told it could read mini discs... ordered it and installed... every single mini disc cannot be read, it says the disk is blank.... also, even though it says Mac compatible, it does comes only with windows software, which wouldn't be a big deal if it could read the discs...

I bought this brand new in 2021 but for some reason didn't hook it up right away. Finally plugged into my 2019 iMac and nothing...doesn't even show up on the computer. Contacted LG but because it is out of warranty they will do nothing. Seems it is a piece of junk since I've read other review with folks having the same issues. Sad that LG won't do anything given I purchased a whole kitchen suite of LG appliances in the summer of 2021.

I purchased this driver hoping it was a plug and play. It is not. I installed the software via the disc provided. First off, I am not great with technology. I was unable to get the movie to play with the software provided. I watched a YouTube video and found a different FREE software to download, VLC media player, and it works fine.

I was excited to buy this and take it home to try and burn DVDs for the first time. On the package LG advertises that all the necessary software is included. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case. You can’t burn DVDs unless you buy a software upgrade for $39.99. This may be a good value if you only are looking to burn music or create a file back up. If you are purchasing the drive for burning DVDs, you need to expect that it will cost you another $40 to get the capabilities that you need.

LG GP63EX70 Ultra Slim Portable DVD
When I received the DVD Writer, at a discounted price for an honest review, the LG DVD writer looks like any other player/recorder. But once it has been used, you notice that it is different in many ways.
Initially, when you connect it, it is hard to tell that it is powered on since it is so quiet. When inserting a disc, the election is almost a quiet as the reading portion of it.
One thing that this unit has that others do not is the ability to record M-Disc media. This format is supposed to allow for true permanent storage, The only drawback I have come across is the availability of the M-Disc media. The availability of it is limited, and really hard to locate. I have found some but it took several weeks for them to be shipped from Japan.
This is the only thing that prevents it from getting a 5-star review

Very Easy to Use
I purchased this a month or so ago and am very happy with it. My old laptop has Windows 7 on it, by choice, and it works fine. I did have to get the Geek Squad to check something before I could get it to work. I had an error message at first. We found one of the ports that did work well with it. It is plug and play and I'm glad for that. I've only used it for playing DVD's so far, but it has other capabilities. The price is great.

In the world of ever shrinking laptops, they took my DVD drive/burner away!!!! It makes it important to have a nice USB one to use when you need it. This little LG definitely fits the bill. My IT organization uses them, and we just buy more.

It has makes CDs, then before I can finalize them, my CDs are getting mysteriously erased. I have 100 cd Reel with 46 worthless CDs that this waste of money has erased.

Seems to have died
I bought this about a year ago. Read maybe a dozen disks and wrote about 6. Now, when I try to write a disk it does so and dies at then end. About 6 disks in a row, Not worth the money.

Great little device!
I have a new LG laptop, which is great, but no DVD player. Unthinkingly, I bought tax software on CD version and stupidly opened, then realized I had no player. Once opened, no returns. I ordered two plug and play brand players featured on Amazon, and neither worked. I then found the LG player at about the same price. My only complaint is that LG, like most companies nowadays, print instructions on tiny pieces of paper in a small font. For those of us with bad eyesight and who do not respond well to minimal graphics, this is not good. I had to call LG to find out how to open the drive door (you push on it) so I could insert the CD to load. The small paper with minimal instruction must be to cut cost, but that is so thoughtless.

Is this product Great? I wouldn't know.
I bought the LG Portable DVD Writer to play DVDs on my laptops. They have no DVD drive port. It arrived with a disk; presumably an installation driver. I have no drive. After purchasing my LG I discovered I can purchase an app license for an annual fee. The best product development and marketing practice would be for a user to make one purchase that allows a user to enjoy the privilege's of owner with ease.

Worked perfectly until my cable broke
I would give this a great rating except I can't find a replacement cable to save my life. I bought this because my laptop doesn't have a disc drive and it worked perfectly with my Dell computer to play DVDs, CDs, and burn MP3s. I accidentally dropped it still plugged in which naturally bent the cable plug and it won't power on unless the cable is angled a certain way. Maybe it's just me, but I can't find a replacement cable anywhere. I don't want to buy a whole new DVD player. I would give it 5 stars if not for that. This thing does exactly what I want and it is pretty quiet. If someone could tell me where to get a new cable, I'll re-write my review. Otherwise, If you can't buy replacement parts, don't bother. Until I figure something else out, I'll have to buy a whole new dvd player.

I used up 4 of my M Discs and it failed every time. I used Verbatim M Disc DVDR This drive says it supports M Drive. Can you be more detailed in what is meant by supports?

Works well for Audio CDs
As title states, this portable drive works well for burning/playing audio CDs. I have no yet tried to burn DVDs. As portable drives go, it is delicate and should be handled as such, but it works well. It is attractive, however, I deducted one star because I think a matt finish would have been more appropriate for something that is handled a lot. Says it supports M Disks but it wont recognize one
I bought this reader /writer because it says it supports M Disks. But when i put a blank M disk in the drive wont show up on my computer. What dose "support" mean? I need an M Disk BURNER. A DVD drive that wil WRITE to an M Disk. I guess "supports M Disk" means somthing else.

I've been using it from past 2 years and no issues till date. Add-on feature apart from DVD writer is that, it can be used to play DVD/CD on USB port of any tv. You just need press n hold power button for 3 seconds. Doing so will turn DVD into fat32 format and plays the contents on any TV having usb port. I played DVDs in same way on my android phone as well using otg adaptor.
This feature is not available on any other brands of dvd writers.
Only con is that it's like delicate.
Overall, it's value for money.

Poor documentation; Never able to load
I ordered this to utilize on my MacBook Pro and my wife's Windows 10 laptop. I could not get the Mac to recognize the drive. The Windows recognized and loaded it quickly. I exchanged it for another with the same result and returned for refund.

The software which came with the drive did not work properly with my Windows 10 desktop. (Cyberlink Media Suite). Called LG customer support who assisted me in finding the right software. After a couple of tries, the right one was installed. The drive has been working flawlessly since. Played many DVDs and burned a couple CDs. The LG agent was awesome...patient, well-informed and supportive. Answered all my questions and resolved all issues.

Neither mac or windows will recognize the drive.
I came to the LG site to donwload the drivers but unfortunalty when I finally found them. I can't load them. The device should be plug and play and since it is not I will return it to the store.

Works perfectly with all my third party video and burning software on Windows 10 and Linux without issue, didn't have to setup software or drivers on either operating system. It is also recognised and works as a bootable USB CD\DVD drive on BIOS and UEFI based systems (both Intel based firmware).

I was having similar issues with connection problems as others have mentioned, but I changed to a better quality usb cable and it works perfect. So if it connects and then ejects continuously try a different cable.

The box says it contains "Power2Go" DVD burner software. It does not.
LG support says it has a 30 day trial version which is not mention on the box .In any case it doesn't even have the free trial. It does have DVD player software (which is great if you want to see more ads).

I bought this for my new computer that had no drive because I thought it wasn't needed, but decided to install some old CD/DVD information, hence, bought it. The instructions were a little vague initially, but after a couple of attempts, I got Win10 to recognize the drive and sound activiated. I am pleased with it now. Ok Quality at an Ok Price.
Purchased this DVD Drive earlier in this month of January 2021. I have had an opportunity to use it to load DVD based programs to my new Drivel-less Laptop PC. The unit worked to my satisfaction. I have not yet had the need to record nor play back audio or movies, therefore only a 4 star rating.

I bought this dvd reader in order to connect it to my smart tv and watch dvds, apparently it's not working at all wz smart tv!!!!!

Exactly what I was looking for
I picked up the external LG CD/DVD drive because my new laptop doesn't have a drive. I have decent music CD collection and the LG device has allowed me to listen to and copy, my music onto my laptop. It's fast and plays everything well. It's also streamlined and easy to keep on my desk without taking up too much space or getting in the way.

Worked great when I bought this about 3 months ago
Doesn't play. Tried installing new driver, no luck. Expensive paper weight, very disappointed. Only got to use this product once.
