Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good performance, long life span, and easy to set up What is our primary use case? We are the system integrator. Normally we are using it in our projects. Juniper Routers are used for our MPRS project with our clients. We have used the MPRS router. Apart from this, we have used SRX series of routers where the event requirement is there. And with switching also, we have used a Juniper router in our MPRS Integration Project. What is most valuable? The most important thing with the Juniper router is that feature-wise, lots of routers are similar. If I'm talking about the performance, it's at 99%. Apart from this, the hardware reliability is very good. It lasts a long time. The end-of-life is approximately eight years. Juniper routers are very capable and can be scalable. We may also integrate it as an event solution in the Juniper Router SRX3. The solution is pretty easy to set up after a bit of training. Juniper is pretty good and pretty known right now for SRX3 where an SD-WAN solution is there. If we are not getting the MPLS connectivity in fiber, then we may use the 4D, and LD modems and get Juniper integration, router, and SRX fiber applications, which we may enable. What needs improvement? We'd like them to be capable of adding firewall options to the license. In the next version, I'd like to see a load balancing and SD-WAN solution altogether in a simple manner. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using the solution for three years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is stable and reliable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? It's possible to scale if you plan ahead. The products are very much defined to the load, in terms of MBPS. If I'm talking about a hundred MBPS products, we have to initial levels, we have to think, what will be our maximum load? If we will plan that product well at the time of deployment, then we don't have any problems. That's the main thing. To scale, we have to know in advance what may be our load in the future, maybe after one year or maybe after two years. If you do this, then everything will be fine on Juniper. You don't have to change the router. We have ten to 15 users on it right now. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We also use MicroTik. We're also familiar with Cisco, Aruba, HP, and Ruckus. Juniper is, definitely, in competition with Cisco. They are, I think, 30% to 40% cheaper. In comparison to HP routers, there is a 10% to 15% variable. If you are talking about Ruckus and Aruba, they're in the Wi-Fi segment. In the Wi-Fi segment, Ruckus and Aruba are the leaders. In the wiring router segment, Cisco and Juniper are the leaders. There is no competition apart from Cisco for Juniper in regard to enterprise routers. How was the initial setup? In terms of the initial setup, you have to learn a little bit of Juniper voice command. If you have learned Juniper voice command, then everything will be in a similar pattern. That makes it quite easy. That said, for the first one or two days, you need hands-on training. Afterward, it is very easy. I'd rate it four out of five in terms of ease of setup. It only takes a half-hour for configuration. What about the implementation team? We integrate this solution for our clients. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? For 10 to 15 users, if you have to go for the SRX3, a startup central router, in terms of dollars, it is maybe $300 annually. This is just the hardware cost. $300 to $400 is the hardware cost and for licensing cost, it may be around, for support and all, $100 per year. This is for an enterprise user. What other advice do I have? We are a partner and integrators. If you have a small setup related to the enterprise office then you should go for Juniper, otherwise, for home, you don't have to use Juniper as there are lots of products out there. For $200, lots of products are there. Juniper is 100% recommended for Telco ISPs. I'd rate the solution nine out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable, high performance, and helpful support What is our primary use case? We use Juniper Enterprise Routers in our network. For example, we use it for VNG, our distribution portal, and our botnet. W have many different Juniper for different functions. What is most valuable? Juniper Enterprise Routers has a CLR and it's more reliable and faster than others. What needs improvement? Juniper Enterprise Routers could improve by adding a graphical user interface(GUI). They do not have one. Most of our team has to have a background or expertise in Juniper. When compared to other solutions, they have a GUI. It will be easier for new team members to get familiar with, configure, or set up the router. Additionally, adding some monitoring tools would help us. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Juniper Enterprise Routers for approximately five years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Juniper Enterprise Routers we have not had any major problems. However, we did have some problems but it has a backup router engine, and it did not affect our traffic and service. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Juniper Enterprise Routers is a scalable solution. The version of the solution we have is highly scalable which are the MX960 and MX480. We have some less advanced versions of the solution that are not as scalable. How are customer service and support? I rate the technical support of Juniper Enterprise Routers a five out of five. The support is helpful. The last time when we had to do some troubleshooting, they supported us and stayed up all night to help us troubleshoot. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I have not used any other solution. How was the initial setup? The initial setup of Juniper Enterprise Routers is complicated. What about the implementation team? We had some help from the Juniper engineers in setting Juniper Enterprise Routers up. Our implementation expert moved to another company and we are having a difficult time finding a replacement. We have four to six engineers that are experts and they are supporting this solution. What other advice do I have? I rate Juniper Enterprise Routers a nine out of ten. Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Usage in ISP backbone and home networks and good scalability What is our primary use case? We're using them for our ISP backbone routers and for home networks. We're getting services as an ISP. What is most valuable? They have great capacities and are very reliable routers. What needs improvement? There is room for improvement in the pricing, as they are quite expensive, but they are very good routers. For how long have I used the solution? I worked with this solution for a couple of years. I've worked with up to the MX960. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It is a very stable product. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The product offers good scalability. This was for a country-wide setup, so we were handling traffic for millions of users. How are customer service and support? We had local support. How was the initial setup? The setup was also a bit complex, but we received good training for it. What about the implementation team? We deployed it for quite a big project, so it took some time to set up, especially for a nationwide ISP. We needed a good plan, the right environment for the devices, and then we proceeded with the deployment. We had about 14 staff members for for the deployment and maintenance, mostly engineers, and a couple of managers. What was our ROI? The ROI is great. It is worth the investment. What other advice do I have? I would rate Juniper MX Series Routers a ten out of ten, they're first-class. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly scalable, especially suitable for complex and large-scale network deployments What is our primary use case? We are basically an outsourcing company, so we provide services to our customers. In this case, Juniper was one of the vendors for one of our customers, which is an internet provider in the US. So it's a service provider internet, and Juniper helps me with this. What is most valuable? The "Commit" feature stands out. When you try to commit commands, you have some options like sandbox config, leaving those temporary for 60 seconds. This feature allows you to commit configuration changes to the candidate configuration, and then review them for errors before committing them to the active configuration. Another feature that I like is the integration with Cisco routers. This allows you to connect Juniper MX routers to Cisco routers and have them work together seamlessly. We never have interoperability issues. What needs improvement? There is room for improvement in pricing. The product could be cheaper for smaller networks. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using this solution for about five years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I would rate the stability a ten out of ten. We never had any issues. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? It is quite a scalable solution. I would rate the scalability an eight out of ten. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? Juniper is quite good. I didn't notice any big difference, especially between Cisco series and Juniper MX. They are quite similar. How was the initial setup? I would rate my experience with the initial setup a three out of ten, where one is easy and ten is difficult. What about the implementation team? The deployment was a team effort. We started with ten people and went up to forty. Initially, when we did a lot of customer migrations using Juniper, the initial configuration was quite easy. But it depends on how many customers, how many VPNs, and all that stuff are being migrated. So in terms of timing, the minimal configuration, just making the router up and running, maybe took around two hours or more. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? I would rate the pricing model a seven out of ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive. It is not cheap. What other advice do I have? I would recommend it. Compared to Cisco, for example, about pricing, Juniper is a bit cheaper. Overall, I would rate the solution a nine out of ten. Because all the projects that we worked on were quite complex. So, scaling, Juniper could use some switches before the MX series, and it's quite scalable. We can do everything that we want, especially in big platforms Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly scalable, many useful feature, and reliable What is our primary use case? Juniper Enterprise Routers are used for network security. What is most valuable? I have found the most useful features to be layered VPNs, IPsec, VPLS, and firewall filters. What needs improvement? The solution could improve by providing enhancements to built-in SDN or SDWAN. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Juniper Enterprise Routers for approximately 20 years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution has been stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Juniper Enterprise Routers is a scalable solution. We have three teams, totaling approximately 300 people, that use the Juniper Enterprise Routers. How are customer service and technical support? The Juniper technical support agents should have more technical and hardware knowledge of Juniper routers and switches. Most of the time when we have an issue is from the hardware side. The troubleshooting should be more hardware-based. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The price of this solution is better than other competitors, such as Cisco. We receive a lot of discounts which make the price less expensive and attractive. Which other solutions did I evaluate? I have evaluated other solutions, such as Cisco. What other advice do I have? I rate Juniper Enterprise Routers an eight out of ten. Disclaimer: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer:partner

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Offers high performance and stability, with their custom Trio chipset and architecture that separates the control and forwarding planes, ensuring high throughput and line-rate performance What is our primary use case? They are primarily used for P&E, BGP, and carrier-grade NAT deployments. Also, for provider routers, MX-204/MX240/MX480 and MX960 for BNG deployments and Edge/Aggregation and core , and MX304 / 10003 and MX40 for Edge/Gateway for Service providers , How has it helped my organization? Juniper products are very good in terms of performance. you place MX240/480/960 provider edge/Aggregation and Core Also good part of it you can use line cards and CB/RE with each other's(within MX-240/MX480/MX960). also few cards from MX960/480 can used in MX2020 i.e The following MPCs require an Adapter Card (ADC) in MX2020 * MPC1E * MPC2E * MPC3E * MPC5E * MPC7E What is most valuable? Juniper's custom Trio chipset drives their MX routers, offering superior performance. Juniper's design separates the control plane and the forwarding plane, which is a key aspect of their architecture. This separation provides high throughput, maintaining line-rate performance across the MX platform. Specifically, models like MX240, MX480, and MX960 offer interchangeable line cards. The same goes for the full-featured line cards, which are compatible with the MX2020. What needs improvement? INX In future releases, I'm looking for enhanced subscriber management features, and in CGNAT support port-range specifically in the BNG series. For how long have I used the solution? I have been working with this for over 12 years. I still actively work with it and provide day-to-day support, including level three support. In Pakistan, most major service providers use Juniper. I deployed MX, ACX, and other products for them. I handle a range from the MX80, MX104, MX240, MX480, MX960, MX10008, MX2020, MX304, to MX204. I deploy all these products, so I'm very familiar with them. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It's stable. It's stable for ages. I don't see the need to upgrade unless the customer wants new features or Juniper recommended for an upgrade. There are so many releases. I was even using a tail release myself before advising customer , and it was stable. Even though they are end-of-life, So, the MX series is stable. Many customers are still running it, even legacy versions. The MX series offers flexibility. You can automate, configure manually, or do whatever makes your engineers' lives easier. I haven't faced any major issues myself. The main issues I've seen have been customer configuration issues. Sometimes, customers don't upgrade their hardware when necessary for certain features. Other times, customers configure things incorrectly. For instance, I might ask the customers to configure something for DevOps, but they forget to disable it. I even try to remind them in emails, but they still forget. That's when they start experiencing issues. Otherwise, there are no problems with the console. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? It is scalable. It has both vertical and horizontal scalability. It depends on the customer's network deployment . You can scale it up within the same chassis. For example, someone running on MPC2 or MPC3 cards can upgrade to a 40gig, 100gig, or 10gig platform without buying new equipment. They just need to upgrade the control cards, routing engines, and line cards. So it's scalable in that way, too. I've been using virtual chassis on MX for over seven years. It works well for subscriber management, on MX240, MX480, and MX960. Then, you have the EVPN . The model there is for scalability and scaling up. Now, Juniper has finally introduced modules for service providers and published a couple of Juniper-validated designs which is impressive. These designs recommend how to scale your network and help you design a network that can meet your needs. How are customer service and support? I haven't really faced any issues because I've been working with their tech engineers for many years, more than 17 years. So, I don't have any problems, but others might because they don't have expert-level access or aren't entitled to the level three direct support contract. So what happens is, normally, my peers and I have access on expert-to-expert access. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I also tested Juniper vSRX solution in my lab for my LLD preparation. It's a good product for small and medium organizations. It's also suitable for customers who want to avoid lengthy procurement procedures and deploy solutions quickly within their budget and network. I work with Juniper routers, MX, vMX, PCX, ACX, SRX, vSRX,SSL VPN products, and currently, the MX960, MIPT, and ECX. I deployed them for many service providers in Pakistan, replacing solutions from other vendors. Juniper excels in high-performance infrastructure and carrier-grade NAS solutions, making it ideal for service providers. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is very easy and straightforward. I have taken remote assistance many times from end customers. Basic, newly trained people were able to troubleshoot, provide me with access and commit confirm is key feature to help to check configuration without on-site access configuration can be reverted back to original. Juniper normally does public TSB, KB and other documentation which help customer proactive fix the newly hit PRs or Security updates in proactive manners, which help customers to avoid bugs and scalable and high performance. What about the implementation team? If the customer's site is ready—meaning the power pooling and environment are ready—the deployment time depends on the criteria. For instance, in a Provider Edge (PE) scenario, i I've designed and tested the configuration in my lab, or if I'm replacing a similar device for the same customer and only need to change the IP address, it can be quite quick. It's important to ensure that the software is on the recommended release. The hardware specifics, like next-generation routing engines, also play a role. Typically, it takes about 30 minutes for the initial upgrade and reboot. If it's a manual configuration, the service-wide installation takes another 30 minutes. So, for a straightforward installation with pre-configured integration, it's typically a day-one job. In a data center scenario, additional considerations like network intent come into play, and it can take a few hours. So, in a data center context, whether it's for Internet edge, data center interconnect, or any other node within a data center, the placement of the MX router varies. The time it takes depends on the deployment model. For experienced teams with well-planned setups, it's generally a one-day job. If the hardware is redundant, then you have some time to do any upgrade or to add cards. Based on the deployment again, there are minimal items that need maintenance, like the paint-free and filter, which you have to change. That is readily and easily available from Juniper. So, as a partner, we actively maintain with the customer, planning and giving them regular maintenance plans, especially for the environment type of stuff. That's what customers normally do. If they are managing it, you don't see any issues arising. What was our ROI? The ROI is there like some customers would like to reuse cards. For example, if they're using MX960 in one location and MX480 in another, they might want to use the MX480 cards in the MX960 later on. This is possible with the MX platform, but it's not the case with some of the newer models like MX240 and MX480. The air intake on these models is not ideal and requires a dedicated intake kit, which can be a disadvantage for some customers. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Bit high in prices Which other solutions did I evaluate? I work for a system integrator. I sell Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, and others. I'm not biased towards any particular brand. I propose different solutions to clients based on their specific needs and RCI design. However, the service point is nice for large Juniper deployments. Initially, when we started deploying MX routers for customers, I faced some challenges. But the new releases are much better and provide a smoother experience. However, one drawback is the non-interchangeability of cards in newer models from MX304, MX10008, MX2008, and MX2020. Some customers want to leverage their existing inventory, but that's not possible with these models. This was a business decision by Juniper. this is only support between MX240/MX480/960 and MX-2020 Compared to Cisco, Huawei, or Nokia, Juniper is not always the most competitive in terms of price. In fact, we lost a big project to other vendor because our price was not good enough. This was partly due to the high cost of professional services we offered. Juniper charges a lot for professional services that price should be reduce . Even though we sell their devices, we don't like selling professional services because we have the experience to do it ourselves. What other advice do I have? It's critical for the partner or system integrator to have experienced people who can do lab replicat... Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple to use, flexible, and intuitive What is our primary use case? We primarily use the solution for connection with the internet and with other organizations through Juniper. We use it for interconnectivity. How has it helped my organization? The product protects us from multiple threats from the internet. Juniper is the first layer of protection. What is most valuable? It's so simple to use and intuitive. It offers high protection and I like it. It's user-friendly and flexible. It is easy to set up. The solution can scale. The stability is good. Technical support is helpful. We've witnessed an ROI. What needs improvement? The integration could be better. It was a difficult configuration with integration with other systems. Others are more user-friendly when it comes to integration. I'd like to see more notifications available via both SMS and email. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using the solution for ten years. It's been a decade. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is stable. It's one f the most stable products on the market. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The product is scalable. It's not hard to expand as needed. We have around 300 users. We may increase usage in the future, however, I do not have exact details. How are customer service and support? Technical support is great. I'd put it at the same level as Sophos. They're great. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I work with FortiGate, Juniper, and Cisco. Fortigate may be a bit more flexible than Juniper. It does have a cloud sandbox we can use, for example. Previously, we used ASA, Cisco ASA, and changed to Juniper, as it was really difficult and it is not as user-friendly. Juniper is more stable and easier. How was the initial setup? The solution is simple and straightforward. It is not complex at all. I'd rate it a three out of five in terms of ease of setup. The last time we deployed Juniper was six months ago and we had a pretty good time. After six months, we replaced all the requirements with the latest version of Juniper and it took, with migration, maybe three hours. It was easy. We have four people on staff that handle deployment and maintenance. These include an engineer, a specialist, and a person well versed in analysis. What about the implementation team? We handled the deployment in-house. We did not need outside assistance from integrators or consultants. What was our ROI? We've seen an ROI of over $200,000 and maybe as much as $400,000. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? We pay a yearly licensing fee. I can't speak to the exact price. There's only the licensing fee and not any extra ancillary fees. Which other solutions did I evaluate? We did look at pfSense and Sophos, however, we decided on Fortinet and Juniper. What other advice do I have? I'm a customer and end-user. We always download the last update for this project, however, I don't remember the number of the update. I'd rate the solution nine out of ten. It's easy to use, stable, and continuously improving. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? On-premises Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A robust and mature product that is easy to use and suitable for automation What is our primary use case? The product provides us with automation capabilities. What is most valuable? The product is easy to use. It is more suitable for automation. It has very clear tags. Juniper is much better than anything in the market. It has robust devices. What needs improvement? Finding market expertise is hard. Not everybody is familiar with Juniper's technologies like Cisco. The product could provide complete decoupling between the control plane and the data plane. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using the solution for seven years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I rate the tool’s stability a nine out of ten. We have not experienced any problems since we deployed the solution. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? I rate the tool’s scalability a seven out of ten. Once we have the modular chassis, expansion is easier. We just need to buy the card and expand the router. We have 1000 to 3000 routers. How are customer service and support? We have dedicated support. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I have used Huawei and Cisco. I'm more comfortable with Juniper MX. It's a personal preference. People prefer Cisco, but from my point of view, Juniper is good because it's a robust, stable, and mature technology. Huawei is not 100% mature. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is not very complex, but it is not very simple. We need to have some expertise to do it. Cisco has a Setup Wizard that we can use. Juniper doesn't have it. We need to have CLI expertise. Once we know what to do in our use case, it is very simple. Juniper’s cloud solutions are not well known. They have some issues. They are still dependent on hardware architecture. The cloud solution does not perform well. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The solution is more expensive compared to other solutions. It provides better hardware architecture design, but it translates into cost. What other advice do I have? My use cases are not complex. I have heard friends say that the product is flexible. It can be provisioned on different networks. Overall, I rate the product an eight out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? On-premises Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable easy to manage, and offers good support What is our primary use case? In general, it is our platform of choice. When we looked at it against Cisco, we settled on it. In general, it is the better version. All the services are okay, or better than Cisco, anyway. What is most valuable? The functionality and stability are great. It's very easy to manage. Technical support is great. It's scalable. What needs improvement? The pricing is a bit too high. It's hard to get hardware support. For this reason, we may move in a different direction. For how long have I used the solution? We've used the solution for the last ten years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution has been stable and reliable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It also never fails. We've never had a catastrophic freeze or fail. When we do have issues with it, it degrades gradually. It doesn't just suddenly freeze or something like that. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The product can scale. It's not a problem to expand it. It is our mainstay, actually. We run all of our internet activity on it. We have more than 1,000 users on the solution currently. We likely will also increase usage. How are customer service and support? Technical support is great. They are helpful and responsive. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We did previously use Cisco. We liked Juniper's stability and ease of management. How was the initial setup? The initial setup took about a day or so. We had help with the process. A third party assisted the team. We have a couple of engineers that can handle maintenance tasks as needed. We handle maintenance internally. What about the implementation team? We worked with a distributor in order to deploy the product. We were provided training as well. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? We find the solution to be expensive. We mainly deal with annual subscriptions. There are no additional costs involved unless we change versions. Which other solutions did I evaluate? We did consider Cisco. We preferred this solution, however. What other advice do I have? We're end-users. We are not using the latest version. We're using a version that is about six years old. I'd recommend the solution to others. I would rate the solution nine out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good bandwidth and capacity with an easy implementation process What is our primary use case? We primarily use the solution as an execution router. What is most valuable? We can use the router on IGP and EGP protocols. Our enterprise customers can connect in different ways. It usually depends on our enterprise customer department. If they are using two links or three links from the same handle of power, we can configure with EBDP, with our client. It offers good bandwidth support. The capacity of the routers is very good. It is easy to initially set up. The solution is stable. It's scalable. What needs improvement? We haven't had any issues with the routers. Everything has worked well. We'd appreciate it if they had a better GUI. It would be more flexible for the customers that way. For example, MicroTik is more popular with customers based on its better GUI. For how long have I used the solution? I've used the solution for the last three years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is stable and reliable. There are no bugs or glitches, and it doesn't crash or freeze. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? We can scale the solution well. We have about 30 to 40 people on it currently. Mostly, they are engineers. How are customer service and support? Technical support is great. They are responsible and experienced. We have been satisfied with the level of support we get. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I've used Cisco routers as well. The price is a bit higher. We get higher capacity in Juniper for less cost. I'm also familiar with MicroTik, which offers a better GUI than Juniper. How was the initial setup? The solution is simple to set up. it's not overly complex. I'd rate the process of implementing a five out of five in terms of ease of the process. What other advice do I have? We are using the latest version of the solution. I'd recommend the solution to others. It's a very straightforward product. I would rate it nine out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Used to provide high gig options and has a valuable Internet DGP feature What is our primary use case? We use it for Internet pairing. What is most valuable? The full Internet DGP is a valuable feature. They used to provide high gig options, but now we have increased capacity and look for more options. What needs improvement? Juniper can work on their capacity, and ability to support BGP protocols. The functionality is limited in Juniper. There is a disruption in the convergence of network change. There is also a change in license which needs to be looked at after each time. Automation can also be improved. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Juniper MX Series Router for 15 years now. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It is a stable solution. I would rate the stability a seven out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The scalability is currently not satisfactory. We have a device that needs ten terabytes of gig capacity, but currently, Juniper provides four Terabytes, which isn’t satisfactory for our needs. I would rate it a seven out of ten. How are customer service and support? The support is good. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? Before Juniper, we used Cisco. We decided to shift due to the capacity, volume, and price differences. Currently, we are looking into Arista Networks. How was the initial setup? The initial setup was not a very complex process and took three weeks. It went according to the plan. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? We have to pay for the device and licensing. The support service requires additional costs. What other advice do I have? It is a good product. It has been a very stable product in terms of functionality, capacity, and transmit limit. The support was very quick and documentation is readily available. I would rate the product an eight out of ten overall. Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A reliable edge routing that has scaled with my needs What is our primary use case? We are a wireless internet service provider that distributes internet service. We deal with two different service providers and the hardware we use includes Juniper Enterprise Routers. This product is being used as my edge router. What is most valuable? The most valuable feature is reliability. The hardware has been very good. What needs improvement? The web interface can be improved. It should be more user-friendly. I can't set up everything because it is a little bit hard to use. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using the Juniper routers for between four and five months. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The stability of this product is very good. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Scalability-wise, this is a good solution. I have approximately 400 users. How are customer service and technical support? I would rate their technical support and eight out of ten. I would like to see a better product library or knowledge base. The manuals are there, but the information is very technical. Having more examples would be helpful. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I also use hardware from MikroTik and Ubiquity. I found that the hardware from MikroTik wasn't very good, and Juniper is more reliable. How was the initial setup? I found the initial setup a little bit hard because I was learning it from the Juniper website as I was doing it. The deployment took about two months. What about the implementation team? I deployed this solution on my own. What other advice do I have? Overall, this is a very good product. It is a very stable solution and I can recommend it. The only difficulty is that it is hard to set up. I would rate this solution and eight out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from We use it as a central router, and it is very stable and scalable What is our primary use case? We use it as a central router for both 10G and 100G ports. We are an internet exchange, so we need to have a router for connecting our partners. We use Juniper Enterprise Router only in the backbone application. We don't have any end users. Therefore, we don't heavily use access lists or filters, but we bought a firewall card in order to protect our root servers, web servers, etc. What is most valuable? It is very stable and scalable. What needs improvement? The third-level customer support coming from Juniper itself could be much better. To get assistance from Juniper, we sometimes have to wait for weeks and months. I don't really appreciate that. Their support should be faster. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using this solution for around two years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It is very stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? It is very scalable. How are customer service and technical support? We are very happy with the local support provided by our local system integrator, but to get assistance from Juniper, we sometimes have to wait for weeks and months. I don't really appreciate that. Their support should be faster. How was the initial setup? Our experience is different for different Juniper boxes. The installation was okay for MX100, but it was not that easy for MX200. For QFX5120, it was a nightmare. We are not an end-user provider. We are a backbone company. Internet exchange is the central point for the internet in every region. We have connected around 10 customers on one router. We have three routers in our network. What about the implementation team? It is not a huge installation. You just need two people for its installation. My partner and I have 25 years of experience in the business, and we install it ourselves. We also take support from a system integrator. For the second level of support, we use JTAC. What other advice do I have? I would rate Juniper Enterprise Routers a ten out of ten. We plan to keep using this solution. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stable, flexible and easy to use solution with a lifetime warranty What is our primary use case? Juniper Enterprise Routers is a network solution that is good for the data center, for campus, and for branches' solutions, too. What is most valuable? Juniper Switches is stable, easy to use, flexible, and has good performance. Also, the technology is good. It has a lifetime warranty and the prices are also very good. What needs improvement? In terms of what could be improved, they could extend the software warranty to be for its lifetime, as well. At the moment, the software warranty is limited, I think to one year. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Juniper switches for four years. We are using the latest version. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Our technical team for deployment and maintenance consists of two, mainly admin. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? We have a hundred people using it in our organization. How are customer service and technical support? They have a lifetime warranty for most products, which is good. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is straightforward. They have a lot of tools to do the setup. They are also either remote or cloud-based for very technical people, with hands-on scripting, too. There are Switches where you don't need to do anything and others where you have to do a lot of things because the environment is complex. So you don't know how long it will take. But the deployment is easy enough. The issue is that the networks get more and more complex so you have to take care of all the details in the programming if you are setting up a complicated network. If you are setting up an easy network, you plug it in to the power and you are there. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? When you buy the product, it has everything inside. Only very special cases require some licenses, but they are quite special and normally you'll have a reason to get these special licenses. So the licenses are quite good. The license does not cost anything. What other advice do I have? On a scale of one to ten, I would rate Juniper Enterprise Routers a 10. I would definitely recommend Juniper Enterprise Switches for users who want to integrate it. Disclaimer: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer:Partner

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good configuration and updates with helpful support What is our primary use case? We primarily use the solution for its router capabilities. What is most valuable? The solution allows for a lot of communication with the internet. When you configure Juniper, you are configuring in the right scheme as Juniper configurations use XML files so all configurations are allocated in necessary strings. For example, if you configure a system, some comments can be on the top of configuration and some in the middle, and some on the bottom. You have to scroll through configurations always up to down typically. However, in Juniper, all configurations are allocated in one place. It's very convenient. Juniper is at the front of IT technology. Every new technology always can be reflected in the latest version of the firmware. If you work in data centers or internet service providers, you have to be always very flexible and update your firmware to modern configurations and so on. What needs improvement? Juniper is the end of the software-defined network. There are more popular routers. Right now, the leaders are Cisco, Arista, and Huawei. Juniper has to chase them and catch up to their offerings. I'd like to see a router that is supporting, for example, HD-1. If you are using the Enterprise Router in a service-positive network the features they offer currently are enough. If you use it in a data center, maybe you need a supporting VX-1 or something like that to be part of the vTAP configuration for this router. The initial setup is not easy. For how long have I used the solution? I've used the solution for ten to 12 years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It's one of the more stable routers. There are no bugs or glitches and it doesn't crash or freeze. It's reliable and the performance has been good overall. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Scalability is very good. You can change modules inside interfaces in this, for example, modular router. We've moved, for five or seven years, between different types. That said, a half year ago I had a problem. We bought a new MX 480 for connection between two devices. One old device, which we bought it eight years ago, and a new one. We had to use an old version of mixed MIC devices inside this router to bind the new router. We have about 20 people using the solution right now. How are customer service and support? I've used the Juniper Support Team for a couple of problems with Juniper. They were great. they answered my questions and responded in a reasonable amount of time. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive How was the initial setup? The initial setup is not very easy. It's not complex either. It's in the middle between easy and complicated. If you are configuring MX or 80, if you know what you need to configure and if you are configuring the data center, deployment can take one day. However, usually, you don't know what the customer needs or you don't know which direction of configuration you can use. For example, you can configure interfaces like virtual interfaces or sub-interfaces. It looks the same, however, they have some inside configurations that take longer. So for these devices, you should analyze for big devices for data centers and internet service providers, you should analyze what kind of configuration you do before so it'll take more time than configuration. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? You do have to pay for the solution, however, there isn't an additional licensing cost. What other advice do I have? I'm a customer and end-user. I'd recommend the solution. It's a good solution with good support. You can also find technology knowledge about the product on the internet. It's not very difficult to look up more details. You can find anything in the forums, for example. In Russia, these routers are popular, which makes it possible to ask some advice from engineers from other companies. They can share their experience which is important when you reconfigure devices. If it was in January, I'd rate the solution ten out of ten. However, right now, I'd rate it maybe eight out of ten since we don't have support in Russia any longer. Nobody can send you new details to change things if they're broken, for example. Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A family of ethernet routers and switches designed and manufactured by Juniper Networks What is our primary use case? We are using Juniper MX Series Routers for internet connection and for importing and managing data. We are also using them for internal connectivity. They serve as a border between our initial team. What is most valuable? For the Juniper MX Series Routers, it plays a crucial role in our network. They offer numerous features, enabling multiple connections and handling various reports. The routers efficiently manage the number of switched fabric codes and process features based on the specific switch requirements. Previously, I utilized them for processing and addressing customer-side concerns. The routers have excellent documentation, making it easy to resolve any issues that may arise. It's excellent for customization, especially in tailoring the Windows configuration environment. Overall, dealing with this solution has been straightforward and efficient. What needs improvement? Currently, I don't have specific concerns or ideas for improvement. Regarding functionalities, I appreciate the user interface of Juniper Elite. Additionally, I'm exploring the use of Juniper Routers in a Parliament environment, particularly with Baragon, and so far, I find it to be a valuable feature. We're currently facing an issue as we're in the process of building and dealing with the software, specifically transitioning from R2 to RC. It's like when there is an update in the routers, and in the process, there are chances to end up losing some of your settings. The challenge arises because the recommended configurations for RC do not align with our features, necessitating a reevaluation of many features. It would have been more efficient if the initial recommendation had been for RC, avoiding the need to redo our research. This has resulted in a loss of time for us, and we've encountered this situation multiple times. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Juniper MX Series Routers. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I would rate the stability a nine out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? I would rate it a nine as well. We are implementing MX Routers in various environments, testing new features. I estimate it to be more than four hundred users. How are customer service and support? They are really supportive. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? In comparing Juniper with other vendors, especially competitors like Cisco, I prefer Juniper over Cisco. While I have experience with both, I find the command interface of Juniper more preferable, and I believe it offers better overall performance. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is straightforward. What about the implementation team? I find it to be one of the most feature-rich aspects, particularly appreciating the synchronous configuration, making it straightforward for me. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? I would rate it around a three. While I'm not deeply involved in pricing discussions, I believe it is comparatively more affordable than Cisco. What other advice do I have? I would overall rate it 8 out of 10. Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a very good and reliable product, we had a marvelous experience with it What is our primary use case? This is one of our routers. We use it for routing the network of the university. What is most valuable? I would say it is very user-friendly. What needs improvement? There are some memory issues. I don't know if it is already fixed in the later version. I would like a graphical user interface. Again, we don't know if it has already been included as we're using a pretty old version. For how long have I used the solution? We have been using it for ten years now. We are not using the latest update, unfortunately. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It is a very stable solution. I would rate it nine out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? It is not scalable, unfortunately. It has a limited interface number, so we cannot scale it very well. About 4,000 users in our organization take advantage of its services. How are customer service and support? I don't have any experience with their technical support. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We used Cisco routers. It was quite expensive to maintain, thus we switched it. How was the initial setup? The setup was very straightforward. What other advice do I have? It's a very good and reliable product. I would rate it eight out of ten. I can recommend it but not over the other routers in the market. We had a marvelous experience with it, but we don't have extensive experience with other vendors. Rated 5 out of 5 by from A stable solution that is easy to configure and easy to back up What is our primary use case? We use Juniper MX Series Routers to connect with the ISP and give us the internet. What is most valuable? Juniper MX Series Routers are easy to configure and easy to back up. What needs improvement? Juniper must publish more information about Juniper MX Series Routers. For how long have I used the solution? I have worked as an integrator with Juniper MX Series Routers for three years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The solution is scalable. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? Compared with Cisco, I think that Juniper is better. If you want to make a rollback in Juniper, you can choose the date that you want to make a rollback. Juniper is good, but they don't publish any information about the solution. Compared to Juniper, Cisco has too much information on the internet about its products. How was the initial setup? The solution’s initial setup process is easy. What about the implementation team? As for the deployment steps, I turn on the power cable on Juniper MX Series Routers and configure the system on the solution. For deployment, it takes 20 to 30 minutes to install the system. Then you can configure the link to connect to another device. When you want to install something on a version and cannot do it, you can check on another version. However, it would be best to do it during downtime when people are not working. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The pricing of Juniper MX Series Routers is okay compared to other technologies. What other advice do I have? I use the Juniper MX204 version. I would recommend Juniper MX Series Routers to other users. Overall, I rate Juniper MX Series Routers nine and a half out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly scalable and offers exceptional performance and versatility What is our primary use case? We use it for routing, MPLS, and VPNs. What is most valuable? The most valuable features for us were related to our transition into MPLS technology, specifically for BPN and VPN services. Juniper's MPLS capabilities, including IS-IS and RSVP, were crucial in our decision because they aligned perfectly with our MPLS network requirements. What needs improvement? Identifying areas for improvement is tricky because Juniper's MX Series routers are a great fit for our needs. The Commit and Rollback feature, in particular, outshines what Cisco offers. While it is challenging to pinpoint specific areas for enhancement, there is room for better support and updates for Ansible. Having more up-to-date Ansible resources and open tools for independent use of telemetry data would be valuable, along with maintaining or improving support for integrating Juniper with external solutions. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Juniper MX Series Routers since 2008. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Juniper MX Series Routers is very stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The scalability of the solution is excellent. I would rate it as a ten out of ten. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We switched from Cisco to Juniper's MX Series routers because of their innovative data and control plane separation. We had been using Cisco since 1999, but Juniper's approach caught our attention. In 2008, we considered different platforms, including Alcatel and Brocade. However, Juniper's competitive pricing and top-notch product quality made the decision easy. Moving to Juniper has been a great choice for our network team. How was the initial setup? The initial setup for Juniper's MX Series routers can be straightforward if you prefer manual configuration. We typically connect via console, load our configuration files, and get our network up and running. We haven't used automated configuration tools because they might not have been available when we started. Sometimes, when you are used to a particular setup, it is challenging to switch to a new approach. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? I'm not very satisfied with the current licensing model that mandates a license for adding a new interface, which wasn't the case initially. Our needs, particularly as an educational institution, are different. We believe that the product pricing and policies should be more adaptable to better serve clients like us. What other advice do I have? Overall, I would rate Juniper MX Series Routers as a ten out of ten. It is an excellent solution. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from It allows for easy configuration and offers features like SNMP What is our primary use case? We have established a customer network using Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches, specifically the EX4200 with 804 ports, and it includes several Cylance Wi-Fi access points. What is most valuable? In our company, we are integrators who create solutions for our customers. I find Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches to be suitable as it allows for easy configuration and offers features like SNMP. I find it convenient to switch from Cisco to Juniper EX because of my experience with various vendors like Huawei and Cisco. It's easy for me to read configurations from Cisco and transfer them to Juniper. We mainly work with customers who want to change or upgrade their network infrastructure, moving from vendors like Cisco, Aruba, or Huawei to Juniper for modernization. Juniper's features are more advanced, and it helps us meet the diverse needs of our customers. My role involves helping with the deployment and configuration of switching, access points, and Wi-Fi, for building robust and modern networks. What needs improvement? There are areas for improvement in Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches. One aspect that could be enhanced is the pricing; many clients acknowledge the quality of Juniper switches but find the pricing challenging, especially when compared to competitors like Huawei. Additionally, from a feature perspective, there's a desire for improved clarity and ease of configuration in Juniper switches. Some users find it difficult to understand and configure certain aspects, necessitating the use of external tools. This complexity, especially for Internet service providers, can be a barrier. Addressing these concerns could further strengthen the position of Juniper switches in the market. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches for the past ten years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I find Juniper switches to be stable and reliable. The stability is high, and it's easy for me to affirm the stability of Juniper switches. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? In terms of scalability, it's excellent, especially for Ethernet providers in Ukraine where there has been significant growth. The switches have proven to be scalable for customers with varying network requirements. How are customer service and support? Regarding technical support, I have opened tickets a couple of times per month, and the response time is generally one or two days. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? Comparing Juniper with other vendors, especially competitors like Cisco, I prefer Juniper over Cisco. While I have experience with both, I find the command interface of Juniper preferable, and I believe it offers better overall performance. How was the initial setup? The installemnet is easy to find on the portal. Joining the portal and navigating through it has become straightforward for me. When deploying Juniper switches for customers, the first step is to discuss their requirements and recommend any modernization or changes needed. The next steps involve addressing specific features, discussing network topology, and optimizing costs for the project. What about the implementation team? In terms of manpower for deployment, it can vary based on the complexity of the project and the current market conditions. In the current situation in Ukraine, finding new engineers for the team can be challenging due to the ongoing changes in the market and the need for maintenance. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? What other advice do I have? My advice to others considering Juniper switches is that they are efficient and reliable. Overall, on a scale of one to ten, I would rate Juniper switches at around seven. Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
