Maximo SP supports the business model of a company that manages the assets and provides services for their customers. Accordingly, there is an array of functionality available in Maximo SP to support these requirements. The first key capability is multi-customer, which allows providers to manage multiple customers in one instance of Maximo SP. This reduces the implementation and maintenance costs as well as provides the SP with the ability to separate the unique and distinct needs of each accordingly. Furthermore, Maximo SP allows the SP to manage customer agreements. These agreements specify the services that the SP is contractually obligated to provide to each customer, the prices charged for providing these services, and any unique activities that must be performed for the customer when providing these services. As the SP delivers these services, the activities are recorded, and the charges are calculated based on the pricing rules specified in the pricing module of Maximo SP. Accordingly, one of the keys to success for a SP is consistent delivery of service. This can be achieved by reducing confusion around service delivery and automating, where appropriate, the service delivery. This is achieved in Maximo SP via response plans, which automate the steps and activities needed to respond to individual customer requests. Reliably billing for all of the services rendered at the appropriate price is also vital for SP success. Accordingly, all of the billing transaction are collected and placed in batch for review. Some examples of these billing transactions are items such as the discrete completed activities, the number and type of assets under management, and any retainer fees and miscellaneous fees. Customers can preview their bills and approve or dispute any line item. This billing transparency increases customer satisfaction and reduces days sales outstanding.

IBM Maximo Asset Management for Managed Service Providers is licensed per authorized user and per limited use authorized user. A customer has the choice between the metrics and may purchase under one or both models. A customer may not exceed a ratio of three limited use authorized user licenses for every one authorized user license owned.
