Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong Small Office/Branch Office PoE SwitchThe 1920S series of switches replace the outgoing 1920 models, or more practically in the real world, 1910 series switches. Unfortunately, HP reduced PoE ports and SFP ports across much of the 1920S line compared to 1920, which may very well prove disruptive to some networks admins.Beyond that, the story is very rosy with this switch: the web console GUI is very user-friendly, with the graphic of the particular switch model itself on the homepage showing unused ports, used ports, and lightning bolts on used PoE-active ports. The dual-image feature is nice to allow backups to other images in the case of a corrupted active image. The entire 1920S series also all use the same software/firmware image, so no sorted around images for each particular switch model, e.g. 1920S-8G-PE vs. 1920S-24G-PoE. The 2 SFP ports are just SFP, not SFP+, and a 4 SFP port model would be nice but not available anymore at this switch market level (have to step up to 2530 or higher in most cases). The 1920S switches are very attractive looking, feel durable, and come with little rubber feet bads if not wall or rack mounting. Has some decent security features available, although most are disabled out-of-the-box, e.g. "Prevent Land Attack", "Prevent Smurf Attack", etc. For those that are mostly unaware of HPE's switch product stack, this series is the most affordable switches that offer Layer 3 TCP/IP processing, i.e. VLANs. Since these switches don't have a dedicated "Management Port", the physical port (and obviously VLAN) can be configured in the web console.Great all around switches that I can recommend to almost anyone in SOHO environments, small branch offices, and even as the core switch for very small businesses (if more than 8 ports are needed or projected in next few years... if not, save some money and step down to the 1920-8G models).
