Encrypted messages when archived as is can be unsearchable, inaccessible, and may not meet business, regulatory, or compliance requirements. HP Atalla IPC Compliance Service for Exchange provides the ability to decrypt protected emails and attachments for archiving and compliance purposes. It is deployed on Microsoft Exchange hub transport servers and managed centrally.
AD RMS also has a built-in journal report decryption agent which generates clear-text copies of RMS protected messages and attachments for archiving. However, the Microsoft journal report decryption agent won't decrypt protected attachments in plain email and attachments that were protected prior to email. In addition, it does not support decryption of PDF and zipped files. AD RMS also does not support scaling and increases load on the transport hub.
The HP Atalla IPC Compliance Service for Exchange decrypts both Information Rights Management (IRM) protected messages as well as IRM protected attachments such as Office protected files, PDF, ZIP, msg files and any file protected by the IQProtector platform engine.
