The PortServer TS Family of terminal servers delivers simple, reliable, and cost effective network serial connectivity for a wide range of applications. The PortServer TS provides hardware independent solutions allowing access to network applications The Digi EtherLite network serial concentrators connect asynchronous serial ports to your network. The EtherLite family replaces the installation of serial adapters in servers for applications in POS/retail, process control, data collection and console management of clusters, routers, hubs, switches, PBXs and other networking devices with console ports. The EtherLite models feature real serial ports and do not carry the burden of Telnet, Rlogin, Reverse Telnet or other complex networking overhead. This makes the EtherLite simple to install and configure. Just attach the units to a twisted-pair Ethernet segment, set the IP address, and load the device driver under UNIX, Windows NT or Windows 2000. The Digi EtherLite supports port speeds up to 115 Kbps, ideal for handling all of today's serial devices. Hardware and software flow control is provided to manage dataflow at even higher baud rates. All the performance is offered for an extremely low price per port.

Product Reviews
Digi EtherLite 80 RJ-45 - terminal server is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very reliable standard that takes a lot of pressure of managing individual IP addresses and prevents a lot of confusion that comes from duplicate IPs being on the network.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from DHCP still works and is a necessary part of the imaging process. Computers require it to PXE boot and also to find the deployment image.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from i have used dhcp server in linux , windows, routers etc. it is not difficult as it seems. easy to manage in all platforms.
Date published: 2015-03-16
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol was a huge improvement to information technology by eliminating the need to assign static Internet protocol addresses to devices.
Date published: 2014-10-16
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Could you imagine having to statically assign, remember, and configure every device on your network? That is a thought a little too close to my nightmares. DHCP allows devices to configure themselves and keep a running log of which devices have which address. IT would be a frightening place without this protocol.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I can review DHCP? Oh well um, it works, and it's been a great standard for several decades now...it's all over my network so I guess it gets 5 stars!
Date published: 2014-09-14
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I like DHCP very much. Running on Server 2008 R2, it is rock solid regardless of whether the request comes from the LAN or the Sonicwall VPN clients.
Date published: 2014-05-12
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Who knew DHCP had its own cost. So when I buy a router that does DHCP for me, does the manufacturer eat the cost of having DHCP or at least pay for part of it. That sure was nice of them to do just so my computer does not need a static ip.
