Rated 3 out of 5 by Great product marred by Poor OCR ability CardScan has the potential to be a great product but I find the OCR capabilities very week, especially for UK business cards. It has particular difficulty recognising UK postcodes, towns and counties - especially if the Towns are 2 or more words such as "Newcastle Upon Tyne" or "Tyne and Wear". It also fails to recognise any common UK post nominals, such as "BA (Hons), MIET, CEng" etc. This means you nearly always have to do extensive editing after scanning the cards. I have reported this to the CardScan Team who said they are hoping to improve this in future versions of the software. It seems to have much better success with US or Canadian cards - so is this just a case of the product not being optimised for European customers? September 22, 2011

Rated 5 out of 5 by Cardscan Rocks I use Cardscan to build my database of contacts for my businesses. I do a lot of networking and meet a lot of people. I NEED this tool to speed input of all the cards and names of people I meet so I can follow up with them in a timely manner. This tool is indispensable. It makes input easy, and sync'ing to Outlook or a tab delimited file simple and fast. Gotta have it! Only draw back I've found is that it can't "read" the really dark or fancy graphic cards very well. It captures the image just fine but the OCR software gets confused. I Highly recommend this product. Support has been very good too. February 22, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Long time user, still love it I have used Cardscan since about 1996, love the search feature, keep extensive notes about clients and projects, much easier to refresh my memory, and easy for my staff to keep everyone's data up to date from multiple locations.Only complaint is that it does not highlight individual search words in my notes. Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect Contact Management System I've been using this product for about 6 years now. The company has done a great job of keeping the software up to date. About a year ago they added a Apple Software application that works fantastic. The key to remember is to sync with CardScan.net which is like cloud computing and allows for backup of your data on the Internet. This is really where this device works the best. I can access my contacts anywhere with Internet access. This also allows you to find contacts that are no longer valid. It allows individuals to update their own information. I do Emergency Management, so contact info is very important. I use this as a standalone from outlook. I don't sync it up with Outlook but have in the past for others and it works fine. If you have tons of Business Cards or a Rolodex you are definitely behind the times. I'm the type of individual that will end up calling you Cro-Magnon man. Look it up if you don't know what it means. I highly recommend this device. I've probably have at least 10 other friends purchase one of these devices and they all love it and thank me all the time. I wish that there was a calender feature within the software, though Act does link quit easily. The search engine is second to none. Wish I knew all the shortcuts better. Great for storing copies of miscellaneous documents(receipt copies). April 3, 2010
