Rated 5 out of 5 byperch from Need 2I started my PowerShot journey with the 510 then 520 and now the 530. Each one has been has been better than the last but... I'm not great at taking care of my cameras, carry in my purse every day always scouting out birds & wildlife on the go in the car. So each camera gets rough working or breaks & I think maybe next series (540?) in the future if I can afford. So I hope I can afford another 530 or hope canon suggests an upgrade to this cuz I just spilled salsa on my trusty 530 tonight DARN the parade!

Rated 5 out of 5 byAlexCanon21 from Amazing Camera!I bought this camera 3 weeks ago for a wedding I was going to and to take celestial pictures (i.e. moon phases, stars, meteor showers, etc.). So far, this camera has not disappointed one bit. I'm still learning how to mess with some of the features. My cousin, who is a professional photographer, was actually impressed by the camera. The only issue she had with it was the lack of a viewfinder but I definitely do not mind this at all. If that is a feature you are looking for the SX50 HS has a viewfinder.The app works great with my phone and the camera. I can take pictures from the app. It works well with the WiFi transmitted from the camera. This feature is also great if you instantly want to text or upload your high quality image and share with friends and family.The battery life is great! I've been able to take pictures for 3 days continously without charge. When taking pictures every other day, the battery lasted me around 5 days. I don't know how long batteries usually last on cameras of these types but this is enough for me.Overall, this camera is a great buy (beginner or not) unless if you are looking for one with a viewfinder. At that point, I would refer you to the SX50 HS.

So, after 10 months it is now a paperweight. I have submitted a support request in hopes they correct this issue as I did love my camera. It took great pictures... but I do not feel like a ten month life span is worth the price...

But now the photos suck compared to my iPhone's camera and the colors are off and it just rarely looks good. The lens cap even broke a year ago and when I contact the canon chat thing they can't tell me the type of lens cap. Thanks canon.
