Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unhappy First was how plastic it felt compared to my old Cannon (which I loved! Have had camera for awhile now. Doesn't get used much, but when I need it, I NEED IT. Make sure battery charged and works at home, get to what I want/need picture of and can't get the camera to turn on (or sometimes off). So frustrating. Pictures good when camera works.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This really a good camera for me. I am very happy with this camera. I use to use a Canon EOS 6, but I had to stop due to my health at age 78. I gave ALL of my Canon EOS camera equipment to my granddaughter and she is loving it. By the way, she is only 24, and hopes to take some awarding photos with her Canon EOS. God sure works in wonderful ways, right?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast service and a great little camera Shipping on this order was extremely fast and much appreciated. We use these cameras at work and they cover the full range of photos we need from macro to full frame. The small size makes it very easy to carry in a pocket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice camera Love this little Canon digital camera. Very small, and has all the features of a big one, EXCEPT, it does not have a port from which you can download your photos. You have to remove the SD card and plug it in to a reader of some sort. Otherwise, it is really handy and does take good pictures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great point and shoot camera. Easy to use. Haven't used it much yet, certainly will when spring arrives. Great little camera for clear shots, wish the color were more accurate in outdoor pics of flowers, etc. Not sure how I can improve it myself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Waste of pixels Grainy pictures. 20MP photos taken by this camera are inferior to 4-8MP photos produced by any other entry level cameras I have tried. Large and medium sizes settings produce same sub-mediocre results; did not dare to try small format due to the fear that I would smash the device against the wall instead of returning it. Far inferior in results and operation from my iPhone 6gen 12MP camera and some 15 year old Powershot camera with the similar tag price. Image stabilization does not exist. Auto focus is a joke. Colors and shadows ugly. Canon should recall this model from the market to stop embarrassing itself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AMAZING! I have owned this camera for almost a year, and it has done an amazing job! It works very well, and I have been able to capture moments in time! I also Discovered that if you put the camera into the "Miniature" effect, and then take a video, it creates a time-lapse! This is a really great camera, and I love it so much!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good cheap camera. This is a good value for a low price. 8X zoom is nice, AF is good, Low noise on above ISO200, compact. Lack of cable doesn't bother me as I remove sd card to copy photos. Thus, a solid Canon camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not a bad starting our camera. I bought this camera a year ago and I bought it because it was a relatively cheap camera for a school trip. After I got back, I started to get interested into photography and started using this for photography. This camera isn't bad but this camera needs quite a bit of light to produce decent photos. Thankfully I can set the brightness in the settings. Also the light bounces off shiny objects so it might be great to take photos on a cloudy day. All and all, not a bad starting camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worse auto-focus camera I've ever used. I own a Nikon D7000 I have been using for years, but but for a recent trip to Germany and Prague I decided to buy this camera due to its size and decent ratings. The biggest mistake I made was buying this one day prior to leaving on vacation and not trying it out. I put my faith in Canon. BIG mistake. This camera produced one clearly focused picture out of every five. The auto-focus was the worst I've ever used. Most pictures were taken in bright daylight and in lower light it was barely able to auto focus at all. I tweaked every setting I could find with no improvement, including resetting factory defaults. The only way I could get it to focus consistently was to shut it off and then turn it back on to get the shot I wanted. I just got home and sat down to view all my pictures on the big screen and an accurate guess would be that 20% of them and sharp and the rest are garbage. I will be returning this camera tomorrow. Maybe I got a lemon but I will not buy another Canon point and shoot. Ever! The only saving grace was that, once I realized this camera was junk, I also took most of the same pictures with my iPhone. Those pictures came out great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's alright... I just needed a camera that I can take with me to an upcoming school trip so I bought the cheapest one I could find and well... Of course, cheap stuff isn't very great. The quality isn't crisp. It's "noisy" (if that's the word like what an iPod or the camera of an older device produces, maybe worse, sadly. Sometimes it's really hard to focus as well, for me especially since my hands are quite shaky at times. However, I kinda do like the "staticky" effect the camera makes, it might add some sort of aesthetic, early-2000s feel to the image??? I guess you just have to be creative and try to make use of what the camera offers to be satisfied. The camera isn't great, but it's not TOO bad either. I do recommend it if you want to save money, want to be a hobbyist, or are a nostalgia-freak like me or whatever, but it's not really good enough to be used for professional photography or to take high-class, 69 million dollar shots of famous people.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No Image Stabilization! I bought 2 of these last month and made a big mistake. There is no Image Stabilization! Every Canon used to have IS and for some reason they removed that feature from this camera, which turns out to be very important. My ancient SD 1200 takes better pictures than this. My even more ancient A590 takes better picures than this. My advice is to spend the extra $20 or so for the next level up, or get the older model, both of which appear to have IS. SKIP THIS ONE!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great coverage I think the camera is great and it’s prices. When I got it for the first time I was so happy. It had such great coverage and it was great at vidieotaping. Later today I was filming something spectacular and I accsedentaly presed auto and it stopped working. So if you have sloppy fingers like me don’t buy it other wise it’s worth your money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worst camera I ever had I bought this camera last summer, to replase another Canon I had. But what a disappointment. The autofocus doesn´t work in dim and dark lights. In bright light it works about 75% of the time. I have got many good memories ruined because of this camera. I have several other Canon products that I am extremely happy with, but this camera is just garbage

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good camera but... We bought this camera for our daughters birthday this year. It’s a great camera and easy to use, but I think it’s crazy it doesn’t come with a usb cord! Like most people these days, we store our pictures on our computer and make photo books online when we want. Having no usb makes this impossible and is a real bummer. Had we known that when we bought (we just assumed it came with one like every camera does) we would’ve purchased a different camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great photos and great value I don't understand all the negative reviews. For the price this is the best point & shoot camera I have owned. I also don't understand all the reviews complaining about the quality of the photos. I also own a (much more expensive) Canon Rebel T3i DSLR and, when I take photos of the same subject with both cameras and zoom in, I can't see any difference, except slight differences in the colors and brightness. My last ELPH lasted 10 years before the zoom mechanism failed, so it didn't owe me anything. Makes me wonder if some of these reviews were posted by competitors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Takes good pictures but.. This camera is good for everyday picture taking, but I've encountered some problems. It's aggravating when I can't get the battery out of the camera to charge it. It won't budge. I tried taking tweezers to get it out but it simply won't come out. It takes decent pictures, but it's more for family, everyday moment capturing. I don't understand why the battery won't move. It's not that durable either, which is also frustrating. Took this to Yosemite CA and Oregon and it did the job well. But I don't know of I would recommend this to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Poor autofocus I bought this camera, July 11, one day before traveling to attend a family wedding because of its size and convenience of autofocus. “Point and shoot.” Unfortunately, several family pictures ended up being very blurry. With the slightest movement of the camera, the autofocus takes a long time to refocus or at times the view doesn’t come into focus at all. I needed to shut off the camera several times and refocus on the subject again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kind of disappointing. This is probably good for the person who wants to keep one in the car for photo opportunities that come along, but not for trying to capture nice photos. Not many options, other than, "Shoot and hope for the best". Yes, it does have zoom, but the pix aren't better than my mid-grade cell phone. I agree with another commenter--there is no adapter cable to get the pictures off the camera and onto a PC. I am going to have to find one somewhere...probably not at Canon. I have a Canon printer, and my mother had a Canon camera and suggested I get this one, due to (if nothing else, her being an elderly lady, the customer service was decent enough. I called Canon to see if I could get a repair on the broken screen on another Canon camera--and they said no, but could offer me a good deal on this. I guess the deal was "good enough"--but I made assumptions (like the cable) based on my low-but-wanting-to-gain-more-knowledge of picture-taking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Poor Advertising Nowhere does the write-up for this at Office Depot indicate the pictures/video can't be uploaded to a PC or other device. Office Depot does not stock this product - I had to pay for it and have it shipped and now I have to return it. I find it difficult to believe you don't make this clear to potential buyers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Good Choice on Compact Camera. I already had an older Powershot camera that was dropped and stopped working. The mode knob it had on top was eliminated and substituted by the Auto button. On 90 % of the cases you will only want to turn off flash or choose picture size. But auto mode can be changed to P and manually settings enteted. Yes. It can be manually configured. Some complain of focus problems. But I'm sure they are trying to shoot a zoom photo too close. The macro mode enters automatically but only with lens fully retracted. One awkward thing is that the older similar battery and charger from cannon do not match the pins! Why do the companies do that? It comes only with wrist strap battery and wall charger. No usb cable. It does not charge on usb only on charger.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Camera for Small Price This is the best point and shoot camera for the price. It has a wonderful image quality. I also like that the battery is the same as in my previous ELPH that lasted for many years. I can continue using my old batteries as you can't have enough spares when you travel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Camera The last Cannon I had, it was of lesser dollar value and I got everything I needed to upload pictures onto my PC, but this camera was a bit disappointing that it cost more and still need to spend more to upload pictures onto the PC. I to was disappointed that it was not made clear that a USB does not come with the camera. I will think before buying my next camera. I would recommend this camera to anyone who wants good pictures and wants to spend a whole lot of money to buy the camera and then have to buy additions to upload your pictures

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall, great! I received this camera as a gift for my birthday and I am very satisfied with it overall. The pictures turn out clear and it is very easy to use. I am a little sad that the user doesn't have the option of changing the "shot" settings and it is only done automatically. Also, the fact that it doesn't include an USB cable and SD card is a little disappointing. Otherwise, it is a very basic and simple camera, perfect for missionaries!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from POOR AUTO FOCUS Worked good for a few months but now has trouble focusing. I have to shut off power and start again and is good for a few shots and does it again. I do appraisals and shoots hundreds of photos a week. going back to my elph 340 which was acting up with the lens not coming out sometimes. That's why I bought this to replace it. I have had canon cameras all the way back to FTB slr about 30-40 yrs ago. sounds like other people are having this same focus problem

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My "Professional" camera. I'm a traveling catastrophe insurance adjuster and I go through a couple of cameras a year. Climbing onto roofs, into wet basements, and through dusty attics takes a toll on any camera. So, I don't buy an expensive one; I normally get "last year's latest-and-greatest" point-and-shoot Nikon. But, while working a wind storm in the west Detroit suburbs, I slipped and fell from one roof onto another--about 3 feet--and broke the screen on my Nikon Sure Shot. I finished the inspection with my cell phone, but I could only find this Canon in the local Walmart. I take about 2,500 pictures a week and load them into insurance reports with descriptive annotations. So far, it has worked flawlessly for me. I've had none of the focusing problems that I read in the other reviews. And the auto macro feature is a delight. Each storm damaged area requires an overview shot to place the damage and a close up detail shot. I have to wait a second while the auto feature switches to macro, but after 10,000 pictures, it still works perfectly. Granted: the wrist strap was a royal pain to get tied onto the side. I finally made a small hook tool from a paper clip. But that was only once. Typical male, I didn't read the online manual and didn't find the data port until after a few thousand shots. I'd been pulling the memory card and downloading the pics using a card reader built into the front of my computer and charging it using that goofy wall plug bracket. When I found the USB port, I stopped saying bad things about Canon and plugged in an old cable from a Canon that I'd broken years ago, and Wow! I can download photos and even charge it, the modern way! I'm glad I didn't read these critical reviews before I bought the camera, or I never would have! Maybe I just got a good one and most of them are bad, but really...it's worked wonderfully for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Do not waste your time with this. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pictures, but... I bought this camera when in a hurry and needed it for an upcoming trip. The camera includes a strap in the package but there is no way to attach the strap! There is an area where a hole appears to be the place to attach it, but there is no hole at all. I need to have a strap to wrap it around my wrist when carrying it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Autofocus doesn't work! I bought this camera this summer for a family get-together. (I didn't want to lug my SLR and I forgot to take my Powershot A3000IS, so I bought this at my destination.) This camera takes one or two pictures, but then autofocus won't work unless I turn the camera off and then back on between each picture. It is a REAL pain to use. I haven't used it since that trip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's okay..? I got this camera from my parents, and I do admit that it would be good for a beginner, but, while I was taking my first photography class a year or two ago I realized that this camera is not the best for taking better zoomed/focused photos. I would recommend this if you aren't serious about taking super sharp and focused photos..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worst camera I have ever owned I bought this to replace an older model of the Canon ELPH which worked very well for me. This new one, however, seems very cheaply made, with very flimsy controls. The WORST THING about it, however, is that there does not appear to be any way to download picture from the camera directly into a computer! How could Canon even think that this was a good idea?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What? No camera to PC cable? This has been nothing but aggravating... There is no cable to get the pictures off the camera and on the PC included. I ordered the part from another company since this site is "sold out" and the connector on the cable does not work with the camera. I have a Canon printer that I love, and that was why I chose this brand. Silly me. I'm going to return it, throw away a wasted cable, and buy another brand (but not before checking what's in the box).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great everyday camera that takes great pictures. For everyday general point-n-shoot quality photos, this Canon ELPH 180 is a great choice. It is built well, and has more than enough controls to produce quality pictures, or you can just set to Auto, and Canon has it all covered for you in every shot. I highly recommend this camera, unless you want to spend a lot more for a more professional camera, though most pictures will still look similar enough to save the money and buy this one. It is small and compact and easy to take with you everyday and use. It has a date/time code if you want on each picture which a smartphone picture can’t do. That in itself is worth having.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrible! Takes dark pictures in conditions less than full sun regardless of what you do to correct them. Also very difficult to set flash to "ON" and will default back to automatic after a few minutes. You can easily change the settings when not intended since the controls are in a place where you would naturally hold the camera. I depend on this camera for business and it really is a disappointment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Palisade Mtn. Finally able to go into the foot hills and take some photos. I was quite impressed with the simplicity of this camera. And the quality of this compares with my Canon Rebel T7 . The size makes it quite useful as a grab and shoot camera instead of breaking out the larger camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value The reviews surprised me, features people were looking for ARE on the camera, the well written manual explains this. The camera takes nice picture indoors without a flash and nice pictures with the flash on. It's quick to focus, handles outdoor contrast very nicely and the color is very natural. I think this is a great little camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sometimes It Fails When You Need It... Ok cam for work but fails when needed.... some pic(s come out blurry but you can't see a clear picture of the photo taken on the display as it is too small. The photo just looks like a normal photo until you get it blown-up on a computer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More like a 1.5 Star This makes me miss my Sony camera even more now or in retrospect I should have put money into repairing that camera versus buying this one. Not too keen on cameras that wash everything out like this does. Also where are these photo editing features that I can do like monochrome or fish eye????? NOWHERE on my camera do I have photo editing/filter capabilities. That’s one of the reasons why I decided to purchase this camera AND I DONT EVEN HAVE THE FEATURE ON IT....smh. I would consult the manual but the manual is uselsss as well since all it basically tells you is how to turn it on. So disappointed. Only pro I would say is the convenient size-portable so great for point n click.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Photo Rotate Feature Id A Joke Camera not bad. The AUTO ROTATE feature is the worst and a complete joke. Difficult for Canon employees to understand, so I'll try and explain: One can just physically rotate the camera. Software FORCES camera view to rotate to get majority of items in photo. Pretty arrogant to assume picture taker WANTS to rotate photo. Use your phone.
