Rated 5 out of 5 by from We were able to monitor users' social media behavior and control certain activities, but the GUI needs updating. Valuable Features: * URL Filtering * SSL Decryption * Application and Activity Filtering * Media Streaming Optimization Improvements to My Organization: We were able to monitor users' social media behavior and control certain activities to be allowed on the social media. This helped to prevent data loss and other activities that could result in a negative impact to the organization. URL Filtering provides both category filtering and customized filtering, which provides us with a lot of flexibility. Room for Improvement: The GUI works, but could be better. It is 2015 and I don't want to be stuck in 1999. Just saying. Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Granular control over website access has lead to decreased bandwidth and increased performance What is our primary use case? The primary use for this solution is to protect the private IP for our customers who do not want to disclose it. It is also used for granular control of web access for employees, including how they are using the internet and what sites they are visiting. It provides control over how much data they are using, as well as what kind of data they are uploading and downloading from internet websites. How has it helped my organization? One of our customers is a leading bank in India, with more than ten thousand employees across the globe. They did not have any restrictions or control over what kinds of sites the employees should or should not access. Since the implementation of this solution, the bandwidth has decreased and the performance in terms of internet access has increased. What is most valuable? The most valuable feature is the Policy Manager. After that, the Proxy Reporter is the next best function. You can integrate it with a cloud proxy as well as DLP. What needs improvement? It would be great if the product had inbuilt queuing for Quality of Service. They do have a solution, but for that, you need to buy another appliance. For how long have I used the solution? Two and a half years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? This is definitely a stable product. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The scalability of this solution is fantastic. The number of boxes depends on how many users are creating concurrent sessions and the bandwidth of their organization. The bank where this solution was implemented has more than ten thousand users. How are customer service and technical support? They have fantastic technical support. If you have to replace the appliance then you just have to send back what you have. If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch? I have not previously worked on another solution, but I am familiar with the competitors. How was the initial setup? If you have previously worked on the product then it is quite simple. However, if you are new to it then the implementation is a little bit tricky. On the Cloud Proxy, the deployment takes less than one day. If you are using the ProxySG or the on-premises solution, it will take one to two weeks depending on the policy configuration, the size of the organization, and what kinds of policies are needed. The number of staff you need to maintain the solution depends on the size of the organization, and how many changes occur on a daily basis. If you have one thousand employees then you need at least one employee to look after it. What about the implementation team? We handle the implementation of this solution for our customers. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? There is a perpetual license, except for URL filtering that you have to renew annually. Additional features, such as Flash Proxies, have their own licensing fees that depend on what the requirements are. Which other solutions did I evaluate? I have reviewed the Gartner Magic Quadrant Report. From that, I know the competitors, where the vendors stand, and what the drawbacks are. What other advice do I have? It is important to determine the proper requirements and do the proper planning. If you have any doubt then you can ask for support from the Blue Coat staff. The conditions should be agreed upon before you start implementing. The functionality of this solution is one of the best, and it is leading the market. I would rate this solution a ten out of ten. Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The solution lacks integration with SDN architecture. However, it does feature intuitive proxy policy deployment using a VPN What is our primary use case? The main use case of the solution was to deploy it as a proxy to access internet. In some cases it was an explicit proxy and in other cases it was implicit. We also explored the features of ADN to use caching and compression. How has it helped my organization? There were benefits but the evolution is slow, hence wanting to move on with the product. You can deploy the product in cloud but you can't automate it as the IP address can be assigned only after acquiring the serial number, hence you would not have a mechanism (by logging in/API) to apply the serial number beforehand so that the deployment can be automated. What is most valuable? Proxy Solution and ADN. Specifically its integration capability with Blue Coat director to apply seamless policy across all of Blue Coat. Also, it has intuitive proxy policy deployment using VPN. You can even forward-chain your proxy. Overall a good solution but growth requires automation support. What needs improvement? Automation for deployment of the device and pricing, which might be secondary considerations. The main consideration is deployment over multiple platforms and integration with SDN architecture. For how long have I used the solution? One to three years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? No What do I think about the scalability of the solution? No How is customer service and technical support? Support for Blue Coat is good on the basic level problems. As the complexity increases, figure it out yourself as it appears that most engineers are not aware of their own products. Which solutions did we use previously? No. I used Blue Coat first but since it did not have the capabilities I was looking for I switched. How was the initial setup? It was complex, especially in the VM environment. In the case of hardware, it was simple but you still you need to be aware of proxy deployment along with MACH5 deployment. What about the implementation team? In-house. You can do it easily by yourself as the documentation is fairly good. What was our ROI? Some customers are adamant as they prefer Blue Coat as a vendor over others. They also provide free training, allowing you to learn a new technology. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Licensing is the major challenge whether manual or automated. Specifically, if you are using a VM edition, you need to be sure that you are using the specified amount of RAM and CPU cores or else you will not be allowed to configure it. Which other solutions did I evaluate? Yes. I did a test on Websense and also on Fortigate. I also did test on McAfee Web Security Gateway and Baracuda. What other advice do I have? None as of now. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Now we are able to inspect full SSL traffic. Valuable Features * Granular security policy * Ability to use as a Forward or Reverse Proxy * ICAP integration, high performance SSL * High performance web acceleration * Integrates well with other vendors Improvements to My Organization The ProxySG allowed us to inspect full SSL traffic now without breaking a sweat. No more outages due to capacity, or DDoS. Room for Improvement Blue Coat advertises the ProxySG as a WAF, but it really isn’t. I would like the ProxySG to have full WAF features that will detect XSS, SQLi, CSFR, etc. Use of Solution I've used it for over 10 years. Deployment Issues The policy is very complex, and their CPL code requires some time to learn it. Once it was inpProduction, no issues were encountered with the migration. Stability Issues The ProxySG is a strong workhorse when compared to other proxy vendors. Scalability Issues We had a load balancer in front of the ProxySG’s. But for customers who do not have a load balancer, they may run into scalability issues. Customer Service and Technical Support Customer Service: Blue Touch support is top notch and very responsive when I opened service requests. Technical Support: Their support engineers are very knowledgeable of the products. I never had to get my service request escalated because it was immediately solved every time. Previous Solutions We previously used Network Appliance NetCache proxies, but Blue Coat acquired the NetCache series and phased it out. We reviewed a NetCache replacement and it was determined the ProxySG was the better candidate for use. Initial Setup It was somewhat complex at first, but was able to migrate successfully because of rigorous testing before going into production. Implementation Team It was implemented in-house. Other Solutions Considered Blue Coat products are very expensive, but definitely worth a comparative analysis when choosing a proxy replacement. We looked at NetScaler, F5, and WebSense. Incorporating either one of those vendors required a full re-architecture of our front end which was not an option due to our complex network architecture. Other Advice Be sure to get the proper sized appliance, better to be over than undersized just in case of spikes in your network. Rated 5 out of 5 by from ?It's a great solution for high load enterprise infrastructure, but it can be complex to customize the setup. Valuable Features The anti-phishing attack features. It's very important feature in Eastern Europe to protect our users from phishing attacks by malicious web sources. Improvements to My Organization After implementation, there has been much less malicious actions from the internet and it has reduced the scope of APT attack vectors from the web. Room for Improvement They need to improve the intellectual analysis for APT vectors from web. Use of Solution I've been using it for three years. Deployment Issues It's easily deployed, but it takes time for adjustment (like any other similar product). Stability Issues It's a very stable product. Scalability Issues Great scalability. Customer Service and Technical Support Customer Service: 6/10. Technical Support: 6/10. Previous Solutions It was our first full-scale enterprise solution. Initial Setup It was a complex setup because we had to do custom adjustments, but the product is very flexible for that. Implementation Team It was done in-house. Pricing, Setup Cost and Licensing It offers unlimited count for licenses. Other Solutions Considered We specifically chose this product as it's the industry standard. Other Advice It's a great solution for high load enterprise infrastructure to protect company networks from web threats. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Documentation and stability needs improvement, but scales well What is our primary use case? We are an integrator and we have configured Symantec Proxy to be used in a bank as a proxy. What needs improvement? The solution could improve by having better documentation. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using this solution for approximately four months. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The stability of the solution could improve. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The solution is scalable. How are customer service and technical support? We contacted customer support when we had issues and their resolution was for us to check the settings over and over. This was not helpful and did not resolve the issues we were facing. The technical support could improve, we did not receive the help we needed. How was the initial setup? The initial installation was not difficult. However, there are many issues with the solution. What other advice do I have? My experience was horrible using this solution. I would not advise anyone to use it, there are a lot of improvements needed. I rate Symantec Proxy a five out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? On-premises Disclaimer: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer:Partner

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Efficient web traffic management with enhanced security and seamless integration capabilities What is most valuable? The developer's assistance is valuable, enabling seamless integration which allows for a comprehensive view of categories, even if not certified by the link. What needs improvement? We have been experiencing issues with file processing and network stability, particularly when dealing with requests for proxy files or fax networks. Improvements in log availability would greatly enhance its overall effectiveness. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using it for four years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The earlier version was more stable. I would rate it seven out of ten. How are customer service and support? The support is satisfactory. Instead of directly contacting Symantec, we engage with Symantec's partners, which has proven beneficial for us. The responses received through this channel have been excellent. I would rate it nine out of ten. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I have experience with Fortinet. How was the initial setup? The initial setup was straightforward. What about the implementation team? A single day is sufficient for the installation. The deployment process necessitates the involvement of three individuals. Which other solutions did I evaluate? Although I haven't personally used the solution for compression, I believe NetTempo has a more favorable focus. What other advice do I have? I recommend it, but I emphasize the importance of clearly understanding your needs and desires before choosing a solution. Knowing exactly what you want is crucial because the chosen solution could significantly impact your organization, potentially resolving issues within seconds and ensuring robust protection for your audio. Overall, I would rate it eight out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from It has a simple configuration, and agent deployment is more straightforward What is our primary use case? We use the policies of Symantec Proxy, particularly firewalls, ATP, isolation, and sandboxing, which are available in both cloud and on-premise deployments of the solution. What is most valuable? What I found most valuable in Symantec Proxy is that it doesn't have any limitations. It also has a simple configuration, with only one window pane, unlike Zscaler, which has multiple window panes. Deploying the agent is also more straightforward in Symantec Proxy. What needs improvement? Marketing needs improvement in Symantec Proxy, as it needs to catch up in sales here in the Asia Pacific region. It has always been a leader, but after Broadcom acquired it, there's been a decrease in sales. Symantec Proxy licensing renewal also needs improvement. For how long have I used the solution? I've been working with Symantec Proxy for four years. How are customer service and support? I've personally worked with Symantec Proxy technical support, and it was excellent. How was the initial setup? It's simple to set up Symantec Proxy because it only has one window pane, so if you're new to the solution, it would be easier for you to understand and grasp information. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Symantec Proxy has different expiry dates and renewal dates, which is a problem, so Broadcom should improve the licensing renewal process for the solution. What other advice do I have? My company deployed Symantec Proxy both on the cloud and on-premises. There's a total of eight thousand users of Symantec Proxy in the projects of my company. I'd recommend Symantec Proxy to others looking into using it. My rating for Symantec Proxy is eight out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good URL filtering but is expensive and doesn't have good technical support services What is our primary use case? What we did is we replaced the TMG from Blue Coat, and we deployed the cloud solution to have URL filtering through cloud. When a user starts to work from home, they shift towards the cloud. Whenever they come to the office, they use the Proxy, on-prem solution. It's to secure their users and restrict them within the company policies to ensure they use specific websites or URL categories. What is most valuable? The product is very good, and the URL filtering database is great. Their implementation has many options. They allow for granular control. You can make web policies and URL filtering policies. It is stable and reliable. The solution can scale. What needs improvement? The deployment is quite difficult. Their support is not as per the standard, and that makes it quite difficult to deploy the product. It needs very high expertise to deploy the product line. They're not addressing issues in a timely manner. They seem to be continuously backsliding. It is an expensive product. For how long have I used the solution? I've been working with the solution for five or six years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is stable and reliable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. The performance is good. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? It is scalable. It's a good product line. That said, they have some issues, some limitations, and some areas of improvement. How are customer service and support? Technical support is not helpful and not responsive. We were very unhappy with the level of attention we received. The engineers are not well qualified or well trained. Their response time is not good. They also just aren't accurate enough in their advice. How would you rate customer service and support? Neutral How was the initial setup? The deployment is very difficult and it's hard to get effective help to guide you. It's not a simple process. We struggled. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The cost is too high. It was expensive. They charge a lot of money yet don't give highly productive features. What other advice do I have? Symantec acquired Blue Coat, and then Broadcom acquired Symantec, so it's now the product of Broadcom. I've used both cloud and on-premises deployments. We're using an older version, deployed three years back or five years back. People are not deploying or purchasing the product right now. There are so many reasons. One of them is it's quite difficult to deploy. The support is also not good, and the cost is too high. I don't recommend the product to anyone. Now that we have a next-generation firewall, there are no more requirements for Proxy solutions. Since the next-generation firewall has the same URL filtering, and advanced URL filtering capacity, they have more features than this solution offers. I'd rate the solution four out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Public Cloud Disclaimer: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer:Partner

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Market leaders with good URL policies that provide effective protection What is our primary use case? We use Symantec Proxy to provide users with internet access, to allow the service to receive updates from the internet, and to block malicious websites. What is most valuable? The most valuable features of this solution are the URL database, malicious URLs, policies, and policy creation. Symantec is a leader in the Proxy market, they are good. What needs improvement? Support response time and case resolution could be improved. For how long have I used the solution? With one of my previous employers, I used to deploy the Symantec Proxy. I have been dealing with Symantec Proxy for one year. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Symantec Proxy is a stable solution. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Symantec Proxy is a scalable solution. We have 10,000 users. How are customer service and support? Support could be more responsive and efficient in resolving cases. Technical support could be faster, and they should be able to solve their problems. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We used Endpoint security, email security, and network security in the previous year. I also use Forcepoint Email Gateway. How was the initial setup? Installation is not an easy task, based on my previous experience, but we worked with experts to resolve the issues. With regard to the time it took to resolve issues, for example, we had issues that were not resolved that took about two months to resolve. We have a team of two or three engineers to maintain this solution. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? There are no licensing fees required. What other advice do I have? It's one of the leaders in the market, I would recommend this solution to others who are interested in using it. I would rate Symantec Proxy a seven out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple setup, but lacking support and stability What is our primary use case? We are using Symantec Proxy for outbound traffic URL filtering, and antivirus scanning of whatever package is going through the proxy system. It's fulfilling all our requirements. What needs improvement? Prior to the Broadcom purchase, every appliance was application based, but now they have one ISG device and on top of it multiple applications are running. It has a single point of failure. If your device goes down, all of the applications would be down. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Symantec Proxy for approximately four years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? We ordered a new Symantec Proxy device and it had hardware failures. The second device we received had a similar issue. The stability could improve. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? We have approximately 500 users using Symantec Proxy in our organization. How are customer service and support? Symantec was purchased by Broadcom and since this has happened the support has not been good. They do not find the solutions to our issues quickly. We had a small problem and it took them two months to receive a response. The support used to be good. I rate the support from Symantec Proxy a two out of five. How would you rate customer service and support? Neutral How was the initial setup? The initial setup of Symantec Proxy is easy. The time it took for the full deployment with configuration was approximately five days. Good planning is needed to keep the deployment time down. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? There is a license needed to use Symantec Proxy. Which other solutions did I evaluate? I have evaluated other solutions, such as Zscaler, and I have not seen much difference in Symantec Proxy compared to other solutions' features. Zscaler is a better option. What other advice do I have? I would advise others there are better options compared to Symantec Proxy, such as Zscaler. It has better stability and similar features. I would recommend Zscaler when considering the cost-to-benefit analysis. I rate Symantec Proxy a six out of ten. I made my rating based mainly on the support team not currently being good and there is a single failure point being the device. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Categorizes restrictions on all types of websites but lacks dashboards integration What is our primary use case? For use cases, I have created an integration with Active Directory for authentication and privilege-based access control. It enables us to manage bandwidth for users based on their privilege levels. For example, if a user wants to use a certain application or resource, we can provide access based on their privileges. Our second use case was to ensure that the corporate network is only accessible by authorized users to prevent unauthorized access to private emails and other confidential information. It was a domain-wide access use case. Our third use case was to block unwanted and malicious websites. We tried to achieve this through integration with other security solutions, but it was not successful. Also, we faced an issue with Cislope forwarding, as it is not supported in Symantec Proxy. Therefore, we used a reporter server to forward the Cislope to the C.S.I.M. system. How has it helped my organization? It was the preferred option of our users and implementation partners. Symantec has helped us in many ways, but the most significant was with its database, also known as Symantec Site Review. It categorizes restrictions on all types of websites, including malware, and integrates with Malware databases. Symantec's in-house application and data provide higher management and understanding of the new upcoming rates and vulnerabilities. What is most valuable? The Symantec database, also known as Symantec Site Review, is a valuable feature that upgrades the categorized restriction on any URL. Symantec also provides another service for malware database integration. This in-house application and data give us higher management and a better understanding of the treatment for new vulnerabilities and rates. Overall, these are the most valuable features for me. What needs improvement? One area for improvement in Symantec is the lack of a reporting server or dashboard integration with SIM. Many clients require this integration, but it is currently not possible. Additionally, Symantec lacks dashboards based on their product, and reporting is also not available. To improve this, additional servers or features for reports and dashboards would be necessary. For how long have I used the solution? I have done a couple of implementations in my customer environment. It was the 8.7 version. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I would rate the stability of this solution a nine out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? I would rate the scalability an eight out of ten. How are customer service and support? Technical support was good before coming to Broadcom. When we used it in Symantec ticket, it was okay. But now that Broadcom has acquired it, we do not get the level of support that we used to get. So it's not good. How was the initial setup? The initial deployment was totally user-friendly, and it was just a go. All we needed to do was give the virtual I.D., and it was okay to have it. What other advice do I have? I would advise them to use Symantec Proxy, but only after comparing it with other solutions if their requirement is for on-site or infrastructure. For example, if you prefer cloud-based solutions, I would suggest other options over Symantec. I would rate Symantec Proxy overall as seven, including support. So, that's why I give it a seven out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? On-premises Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stable, with good caching for better performance and web isolation What is our primary use case? We are resellers and we implement this solution for our clients. What is most valuable? The most valuable feature is the caching. It's very important for the performance and the web isolation. What needs improvement? There are performance issues with all of the proxies. In the middle of the project, it will cause some delay. It will disconnect the internet connection. Many clients have complained about it. For how long have I used the solution? We are usually using the latest version. When on-site, we always update to the latest version. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It's a stable solution. It's better than the others. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? It's not easy to scale this solution. You need to change the model if you want to scale unless you are using the cloud. Everything in the cloud is easy. It is difficult to scale an on-premises deployment because you need to change the device. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is not easy, you need experience. It's not like other products that are straightforward, this one has an advanced population. It can take three to four days to deploy, but it depends on the site and the customer's requirements. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? It's expensive. Clients often go to other products. What other advice do I have? For the future, when sizing, do it for the next five years if it is on-premises so that you won't have to change the device. You will also need the redundancy backup device, this is very important. It's a good product. I would rate Symantec Proxy an eight out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from The content that we are getting is very good, but activating the SSL inspection is not easy What is our primary use case? We use it for web security and content filtering. We are using Symantec ProxySG. What is most valuable? The content that we are getting is very good. Content caching is also supported. What needs improvement? Activating the SSL inspection is one of the challenges. We are currently moving to the O365 cloud, and one of the challenges is the performance when all of our users are connected to O365 by a proxy. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using this solution for almost ten years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Its stability is good. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? I am not sure about scalability. We always do some upgrades to cater to more users. We have up to 2,500 users, and we have 1,500 concurrent users. How are customer service and technical support? Their technical support is good since they moved to Broadcom. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is straightforward. It took us six months to one year to fine-tune or organize the policy. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? In terms of cost, it is expensive. Its pricing has been a challenge for us since its acquisition by Broadcom. What other advice do I have? Symantec Proxy is for enterprise-level companies. It is more suitable if you are a big corporation or company. I would rate Symantec Proxy a seven out of ten. Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Is easy to use, stable, and scalable, and does not require a huge team for deployment What is our primary use case? We use it for browsing and for updates to our system. We use it for remote access and for meetings as well now. What is most valuable? It is easy to use, and it is stable and scalable. You don't need a large team for deployment and maintenance. What needs improvement? The user interface could be improved, and the price could be lower as well. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using it for a month. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It is a stable solution. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? I think Symantec Proxy is scalable. We currently have 600 users. How was the initial setup? The installation was straightforward; it was easy, and we had no problems. We had to configure some rules, so it took about a week. We needed two administrative staff for the deployment. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The price is too expensive compared with that of another solution. We have a three-year licence. What other advice do I have? It is easy to use, and I would rate Symantec Proxy at nine on a scale from one to ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from A scalable enterprise-level tool with advanced features that provide accurate database categorization What is our primary use case? We use the product for malware filtering, content filtering, and reporting. What is most valuable? The CPL code is the best feature of the solution. We can get the tool to do extremely advanced things with the command line code. The database categorization is extremely accurate. What needs improvement? The solution must add a new category for WebSocket data. It must provide a new category for internet streams currently categorized as Technology/Internet. They're independent streams. The AV engine can't scan them. They get stuck. The tool’s reporting features must be improved. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using the solution for 15 years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I rate the tool’s stability an eight out of ten. The stability is mostly very good. Occasionally, there's an unexplained glitch, and we just have to reboot it. The stability must be improved. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? I rate the tool’s scalability a nine out of ten. The scalability is amazing. We have 50 customers in the UK. My company is a global organization. There may be more customers. I only work with the UK and Ireland. Our customers are mostly enterprise businesses. How are customer service and support? The technical support team is generally pretty good. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive How was the initial setup? The initial setup is quite straightforward. I rate the ease of setup a nine out of ten. It took us a week to get the policy in place. It's a complicated policy that needs to be created from scratch. To deploy the solution, we do console setup, configure the interfaces and DNS routes, authenticate the domain, download the content solution databases, connect to Symantec Reporter, and configure the policy. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The solution is very expensive. I rate the pricing a nine out of ten. The price is an issue for our customers. Sometimes, they know they have no choice because only Symantec Proxy can do what they need. We have to pay for the licensing for a certain number of users, support, and hardware. What other advice do I have? The product is extremely good. It is an enterprise-level tool. It can do grand things. For a small business with basic internet content filtering needs, it's a waste of money. However, it's probably the best for high-level enterprises with complex needs. Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from A highly scalable and easy-to-deploy product that has excellent web filtering and risk management features What is most valuable? Global Intelligence Network is the best feature of the product. It includes web filtering and risk management. What needs improvement? The product must be made more simple. The solution is quite complex. Though the complexity gives us more control, some complexity is unnecessary. The product shifted from Java recently, which complicated the solution a bit. For how long have I used the solution? I have more than ten years of experience in the solution. I have worked with many versions of the solution. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I rate the tool’s stability a nine out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? I rate the tool’s scalability a ten out of ten. How are customer service and support? The technical support has changed after the acquisition process. Previously, if we opened a ticket, many engineers were available to give us remote sessions to solve the problem faster. They were intelligent. Now, the support is worse than before. The support must be improved. How would you rate customer service and support? Neutral How was the initial setup? Rated 5 out of 5 by from A user-friendly solution with good technical support What is our primary use case? Some SharePoint sites are accessible, while others are not. It is possible that some URLs have been redirected. To check this, we need to check the Symantec database to determine if there is any confidential, educational, or financial information or if there are any symptoms of threats such as ransomware like RED. Based on this, we need to reclassify the URL. If it is reclassified, we can allow that particular URL into the environment. What is most valuable? I have worked with the solution at both the user-based and enterprise levels. The features in the solution provide confidence for both URL classification and manipulation, making it one of the best proxies available. What needs improvement? The solution's databases are long, and their support is very fast. At times, certain areas are lacking in the policy manager. It would be great if we could directly control those URLs in the policy manager through the US. At the time of policy tracing, it is necessary to determine where the policies created by Blue Coat for the solution are being dropped. We should be able to get the exact results for this. Also, it would be great to have an online tool that could provide us with confidence during encryption and decryption processes without needing different tools. This tool could help us identify which problems to manipulate and where to allow manipulation. Such additions will be great for us. For how long have I used the solution? I have experience with Blue Coat Symantec Proxy. While working on the solution, I have specifically worked with SG500, SG600, and SG510. Basically, I have worked with most platforms available within the solution. In terms of how long I have been using this solution, I would say that I have excellent and vast experience using this solution. Our company doesn't use a specific version of the solution. The manipulated version still provides a user experience for functioning our day-to-day operations. It also gives us a personalized user experience. So, I have experienced the entire solution from scratch to the end. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is stable. It is recommended that you paste your beta version before proceeding to the actual version. Therefore, checking Blue Coat's suggestions each time is necessary, as recommendations may vary. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? It is a scalable solution. Personally, I handle 100 users from the site as well as 1,000 users on the site. So, the sites are something that can vary. That is why there are versions like Symantec Gateway, SG500, or SG600. I anticipate an increase in the number of users utilizing this solution within my company. As the number of users grows, shifting traffic from on-site to the office may become necessary. Assuming that I possess the user files they use, their traffic can be manipulated as either on-premise traffic or guest traffic. Accordingly, we must adjust our bandwidth and scalability to accommodate this increase in traffic. How are customer service and support? Symantec Proxy’s technical support is very good. However, every product solution company has its own guidelines that they follow. For instance, Check Point offers golden support and diamond support to its users. Typically, diamond support professionals provide faster support compared to golden support professionals. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I have experience with various VPN solutions and Check Point Firewalls, from R65 to R80.10 and R80.20. I also have experience in information security, cybersecurity, OSPC, and data classification. How was the initial setup? The initial setup can be somewhat complex, and deploying the system can take some time. Additionally, there is a fee that needs to be paid, and we must adhere to certain policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines. These are standard formats that we need to follow. Therefore, to adhere to the guidelines, we need to check whether the policies have been implemented or not. If you have experience implementing solutions, you may only require two or three people for the job. This is because the solution's database is already hosted on the cloud, and all that is required is to manipulate and create a policy. Typically, when creating a policy for the environment, permissions for financial and educational sites are already allowed. Access approval is only needed for certain additional sites, such as those for games and other random sites. The deployment of the solution is completed with Zscaler. In short, Zscaler provides a better opportunity for deployment. If your on-premise proxy is working, then it is unlikely that you will opt for the cloud proxy. This is because the data manipulation will lead to the manipulation of traffic from your internal data center. What about the implementation team? We implemented it ourselves and did not hire a consultant to do it for us. What was our ROI? Regarding ROI, I would say that setting up a proxy site can be challenging and often requires different vendors to address specific requirements depending on the company, stakeholders, and business needs. However, Symantec Proxy is the best option if you're looking for a stable solution. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? I am a support engineer. There is a different department that looks into the licensing part. What other advice do I have? Symantec Proxy will give you the confidence that your work has been manipulated as expected. For the companies planning to use Symantec Proxy, I would say that it is a scalable, user-friendly solution, and it will give confidence to the operators to work on it. Overall, I rate this solution an eight out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
