The Blue Coat Cloud Data Protection Communication Server is a component that works in conjunction with a SaaS cloud application's email services. Email addresses are often stored in cloud applications, and since they are frequently considered sensitive data (or PII - Personally Identifiable Information), it is often desirable to obfuscate the actual email addresses (Either encrypt them or replace them with a token email address which cannot be linked back to the actual user). Email is routed from the SaaS cloud application, through the Blue Coat Cloud Data Protection Communication Server, and on to the actual recipient - even though the actual email addresses are no longer stored in the cloud. Also, the Blue Coat Cloud Data Protection Communication Server fully integrates with an enterprise's existing mail servers, leveraging all of the existing corporate email security, handling policies, and support systems such as spam filtering and virus detection.
