Access an attached ServSwitch and all servers connected to it via an IP network or a dialup connection

Remote control via a network connection isn’t new, but it usually presents two major drawbacks: either special software must be used on all connected computers—which can cost you a nice chunk of change—or the host system can experience a power failure that prevents you from making a remote connection.

Those worries are now a thing of the past! The ServSwitch™ Wizard IP from Black Box enables you to remotely access an attached ServSwitch and all servers connected to it from anywhere in the world via an IP network or a dialup connection.

Full server control.
The Wizard IP only requires a keyboard, video monitor, mouse (KVM) connection to your servers and doesn’t need any special software to be loaded on the controlled servers. Unlike software-only remote access solutions, the ServSwitch Wizard IP provides full control—even during computer bootup.

To handle power failures, the ServSwitch Wizard IP has a power control port that enables a remote user to reset one or more power switches in the host system. You can reboot the host system remotely no matter how badly it has locked up!

RJ-45 and DB9 port connections.
Up to four simultaneous remote users can access the Wizard IP. Connect all four users via the unit’s RJ-45 network port, or one out of four remote users may be linked via the Wizard IP’s modem/ISDN DB9 port. The RJ-45 IP port enables a direct connection to your company’s Ethernet or Fast Ethernet network. The DB9 port can also be used as a backup access route should the network fail.

The Wizard IP’s three local KVM console connectors provide connections for your local control station’s keyboard, monitor, and mouse. These connectors are used to perform the initial configuration of the Wizard IP, and you can later use them to control all connected servers locally.Works with other ServSwitch units.

With the three computer/KVM connectors, you can link the Wizard IP to just about any other ServSwitch product and all IBM® compatible servers connected to it. The Wizard IP is also compatible with Sun or Mac servers. This level of compati-bility is a plus, because you can save money on not having to buy new equipment, thus extending the life of your hardware.

Accessible via a VNC viewer.
Each ServSwitch Wizard IP contains a genuine embedded VNC server, which you can securely access using a VNC viewer or a Web browser running Java™. No extra software seat licenses are needed, and private or shared access modes are supported from up to four viewers. A local feed-through KVM console connection and an on-screen display makes setup, configuration, and control easy.

Innovative in-picture configuration menus simplify the viewer into a single software application, enabling easy operation and network configuration. The ServSwitch Wizard IP’s advanced video acceleration engine provides remarkable screen update performance when used over a LAN. Because the picture is transferred digitally, you can count on high-color and picture fidelity at LAN speeds.

State-of-the-art data compression techniques ensure practical remote control, even at dialup connection speeds as low as 33 kbps.
