Rated 5 out of 5 by from I strongly recommend APC This product is being used as a replacement for a 10 year old product that is protecting my Big screen TV and main Comcast cable box. Momentary outages are common on my line and a momentary outage of the cable box takes 5+ minutes to reboot and knocks out both TVs. With APC devices protecting the setup i do not fear any short outage. Service from tech support has always been A1, they are excellent. I recommend APC to my clients and will continue to do so.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from rock solid I use this in a camping trailer for lighting inside my server cabinet, and lighting outside. I ran a 14awg extension cord from the unit to a 3 outlet outdoor tap, then to the outside lighting, and all the lights are LED. It runs like a pro. I then have a 6ft USB extension cord to the USB outlet, then my cell phone plugged into that and I can keep my cell phone charged as well. This was a pretty good investment in my opinion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New design not working I have bought APC power backups for years because of the high quality but this unit is terrible. Every time we have a surge or power outage - the unit alarms in contant tone and immeadiatly kills the computer. I have read other people having issues with this model. I should have listened. Now I am stuck with a 5 lb paper weight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works well - if you don't count the software I have the 650 to keep power up to my cable modem, desktop PC, and wireless system. When the power fails for a second or so during a storm, everything stays up as though nothing happened. Good. That part works. But if you want to use the PowerChute Personal Edition (PCPE) software to get information about failures, too bad. While PCPE is able to monitor current status, set options, and such, it is completely unaware of power failures. I spend a few hours "chatting" with tech support trying to get them to understand what I was experiencing. They eventually sent me a replacement unit; that was a complete waste of time. The new unit works fine, just like the original one. But I can pull the power cord from the wall, wait 10 seconds, plug it back in and the software reports that nothing happened. ("Current Status" / "Last transfer to battery was caused by: None Recorded". "Performance There are no events to report at this time.") If you use the built-in "Contact APC" function to report a problem, either it never sends a report, or the report is ignored. I reported this problem every day for two weeks and never received a reply. So, if you are OK with this software, this system will in fact switch to battery and keep your system running through blackouts and over power dropouts. If you want to ask questions about line performance and how long blackouts lasted, this is not for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best UPS Unit I have ever tried I signed up for this review program because I wanted to try new products before it was available to purchase and I will tell you it was well worth it... I received the UPS unit and I must admit it works great, the thing I like about it is the unit is compact, you can put it on a shelf without it taking up much room, there is even screw holes on the back where you can hang it on a wall if you wish, I just have mine temporarily sitting on the floor since I do not have room on my counter for it at this time, the second thing I like about it is the USB port where you can plug your cellphone into it to charge no matter if you have city power or not. I live in an area that has a few hurricanes and this unit will come in handy for this years hurricane season. If you need a good UPS unit, I feel this is the one you should buy... it's well worth the money and you will not be disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent UPS! The product came packaged very well with excellent instructions. I have always used APC back up supplies and the quality and reliability have always been great. This one in particular is very compact and fits in smaller spaces. The USB charging port is a plus! Normally I use these for computers but this one I'm using to maintain a constant power flow to a powered PA mixer and a powered amp.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Step Up I've always kept a surge protector on my home PC, usually a cheapo consumer grade piece. Upon opening the APC UPS 650 I was amazed at the difference in build quality. This thing is quality made and built to last. As luck would have it, spring storms caused an outage the weekend after I installed the unit. It performed flawlessly and prevented a hard reboot of my media server. I couldn't be more pleased with this unit and will continue to recommend APC products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product I use this unit to back up my son-in-law's Ethernet Switch and Wi-Fi Access Point. It also helps to back up his MacBook Pro. It is extremely useful to have a product like this to keep our home network infrastructure working in the event of a utility power failure. With our battery-operated devices like laptops, tablets and smart phones, we can continue to access the Internet, even though we need flashlights and candles to see. I currently have four different APC UPS devices in our home, and would never be without them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good value - works well The 650VA, AKA the BN650M1, is a compact and attractive uninterruptible power block that does what it is supposed to. According to specs, it can power 80 watts of equipment for around 1/2 hour. It contains plenty of outlets, including two that are surge protected but do not use the battery - good for monitors or printers that need protection from surges but do not need to drain your battery when there is an outage. A USB charging port is a convenience, though one I will not use since unit is not positioned in a convenient location in my setup. I am using this one to protect a Tivo and DVR in my entertainment setup to avoid losing a recording when there is a power disruption. I already have a BE600M1 to protect my PC and router in office area. Battery is user-replaceable and this should be expected in around 5 years or so.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Investment This battery back-up is and would be a great investment for anyone. It is small, portable and fairly lightweight. It is very user friendly and easy to use. It is a great back up power source for computers, printers, etc. It provides space to plug in 7 items/devices. I would highly suggest this back up to anyone looking for a top quality, affordable way to make sure their items/devices have a battery back up in the event of a power outage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Little Unit If you’re like me, you have groups of electronics scattered around the house. In addition to the equipment in my home office which is protected by a large APC unit, I have a cable modem and wireless router in the living room and a stereo system in the family room. The BN650M1 makes it practical to protect these devices. The BN650M1 has: 1) Five NEMA 5-15 outlets with both backup power and surge protection, 2) Two NEMA 5-15 outlets with surge protection, and 3) One USB recharging outlet. There is also a USB data port that works with APC’s PowerChute software and two anchor points for attaching the BN650M1 to the wall. What a great idea! I attached the unit to the wall high enough for my robot vacuum to pass under it. Nice! Some may find the BN650M1 too small for their needs. But if you’re looking for a small backup power supply that will protect your equipment from surges and give you enough time to turn the equipment off, then the BN650M1 may be just what you’re looking for!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Safety Investment I have used APC battery Back-UPS since the mid- to late 1980's. This battery back-up is a great investment for anyone wanting to protect their electronics. It is small and easy to find a spot for it. It is very user friendly and easy to use. Over the years their products have been very reliable. This is a great back up power source for computers, TV's, etc. It provides space to plug in 7 devices. 5 plugs provide battery backup. 2 plugs don't provide backup, but do provide filtered power for sensitive devices. There is also a USB charging port, but that is not very useful because of where you would place this Back-UPS. The replaceable battery is very handy and useful (I know first-hand). I would highly suggest this back up to anyone looking for a top quality, affordable way to make sure their items/devices have a battery back up in the event of a power outage

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent and compact When I unpacked my new Back-UPS 650VA, I was amazed at how small and light it was compared to older UPSs. You can easily hold this UPS in one hand. The Back-UPS 650VA can support 360w, which is perfect for a desktop computer, but I use it to backup my internet modem and router, plus my VOIP box. This makes sure that my Internet and phone conection stay up for a while during a power failure. Since people use battery laptops and phones, they can continue as if nothing happened. My Internet modem and router are up on a shelf, so I was very happy that the Back-UPS has wall mounting holes on the back. I was able to make horizontal mounting work, but I wish that the holes would have allowed either vertical or horizonal mounting. Vertical mounting would have allowed both screws to be in a single stud. I was glad to see that the Back-UPS didn't skimp on outlets. It has 5 battery-backed-up outlets, plus two that are surge protected. That's plenty. There's also a cute feature. It has a USB charging port to allow you to charge your phone during a power failure. Two days after I installed it, there was a lightning strike very close to my house. There was a huge boom and the power went out, but the boxes connected to the Back-UPS continued as if nothing happened.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Satisfied I purchased this product so that I can have peace of mind playing my PlayStation during heavy rain or snow, when power outages may occur. The last time that happened, my PS4 was fried beyond repair, and I had to buy a whole new one. I hope this product prevents that from ever happening again.
