I am a software designer and a part of the technical team and we create the dataflows for the end-user. What is most valuable? The features that I find to be the most valuable are the BAS (Business Analytics), the Narrate feature, and the auto-visualization. What needs improvement? Sharing dataflows is not possible at this time, and the custom chart functionality is not available. I would like to see making abbreviations as per the user's needs. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Oracle Analytics Cloud is stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? It's a scalable product. How are customer service and technical support? The technical support that we are getting from Oracle is pretty good. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? Previously, I worked with Tableau, Spotfire, and SAS VA. Tableau and Spotfire are a little advanced when comparing with OACs (Oracle Analytics Cloud). The customizations and making the licenses to suit your needs is pretty easy. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The price is reasonable; it's quite a bit lower than Tableau and Spotfire. What other advice do I have? Depending on the needs of business to business, but as far a visualizations are concerned, this is a good product. Anyone can update for Business Intelligence. I would rate Oracle Analytics Cloud an eight out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple to set up and user-friendly but very expensive What is most valuable? It's rather user-friendly. The solution can scale. The stability is good. It's easy to set up. What needs improvement? The cost factor needs to be improved. When you want to scale up and improve the computing power, it becomes extremely costly. They could improve the ease of developing the dashboard and interacting with it. They can also improve, quite critically, the user interface. It's not as intuitive as Qlik Sense. There should be improvements in Auto ML, automated machine learning, and, if possible, even robotics process automation. For how long have I used the solution? I've used Oracle Analytics Cloud for two years now. The company has been using it for close to five or six years now. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It's quite stable and quite sustainable. There are no bugs or glitches and it doesn't crash or freeze. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? While you can scale, it can get expensive. When you want to scale it up, you eat resources in terms of computing power, storage, querying, and everything else. It becomes very expensive. While It's possible to scale anytime upwards or downwards, the cost factor becomes an impediment. How are customer service and support? While technical support is quite good, it's slow. We need to raise a ticket. After that, it can take up to two to three or four hours for them to respond. For Qlik Sense, in contrast, it's just direct. We just call them or we just email them or even Whatsapp them, and they will immediately respond, set up a call, and that's it. They solve it. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We also are familiar with Qlik Sense. For Qlik Sense, we are proceeding to be ISA partners and have used it for six months. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is straightforward. It's not overly complex. The deployment itself took about a year. We have two people that are available to maintain the solution. What about the implementation team? We handled the implementation completely in-house, without the assistance of any integrators or consultants. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The pricing could be a bit lower. it's a bit expensive right now, especially as you scale up. We pay $50,000 on a yearly basis. What other advice do I have? We are an ISA partner. We are using the latest version of the product. If there is a simpler, faster, or cheaper solution, then a company should go for it. Look at the Gartner Quadrant, as, clearly, Oracle is not yet a leader. We have Microsoft, we have Qlik Sense. If a company can factor in other solutions first, it's best. The key advantage of Oracle is, that once you've got your account, at least you have access to the autonomous data warehouse and you have access to automated machine learning, (AutoML) and so on and so forth. Beyond that, it's just so expensive. I wouldn't advocate for somebody to go for it. I'd rate the solution a six out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? It's valuable feature is that it is user-friendly and doesn't require much time for understanding. What needs improvement? The learning curve should be improved, and I'm uncertain if tutorials are readily available or easily accessible. We may have resorted to looking on YouTube for such information. Having easily understandable documents or guides for new users would be beneficial. Quick references like these would encourage more users to explore and utilize the features effectively. AI integration would be an interesting feature to add in the next release. For how long have I used the solution? We used this solution approximately a year ago. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is stable. How was the initial setup? The initial setup was straightforward. We have an IT team assisting the process. However, it could extend to around three months if you need more complex dashboards with five to six or more KPIs. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? It is cost-effective. Oracle Analytics Cloud is more refined compared to the on-premises version of OBIEE. It's simpler to use and takes very minimal effort to set up compared to OBIEE. The technical support is excellent, and they respond quickly. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable, capable of handling massive amounts of data, and good value for money What is our primary use case? My role was to administer, develop, create, or enhance the reporting in analytics that was based on the Oracle Business Intelligence products including the cloud, publisher, or some of the embedded reporting capabilities of the Primavera suite. Each business has its own use cases developed by the analyst, but most of the use cases were related to financial reporting or purchasing. Purchasing has been a very solid use of it and also project management. For project management, OAC was tied to an Oracle installation of Primavera, which is project management software. They were hand in hand. It not only involved logistics but also the financial aspects of projects. In terms of deployment and version, it's provided by Oracle. Oracle Cloud solutions are always going to be of the latest version. Nobody has an old version of a cloud application. What is most valuable? The stability of the product itself by virtue of the fact that it's a cloud product and Oracle is responsible for its hosting is valuable. There is no question about its uptime, reliability, and so forth. It's robust. It has the ability to handle massive amounts. After reporting has been developed, there is an ease of use or a user-friendly interface for a trained workforce. What needs improvement? It's not a failure of the product; it's just an architectural choice. It has to do with data modeling. I'm comparing this to another product, which is Oracle's developer client and probably called Oracle BI Developer Client Tool. The data modeler, which is cloud-based, and Oracle BI Developer Client Tool, which is local or on-premises-based, both can do the same thing in data modeling. However, the cloud tool does not have as many features as the Oracle BI Developer Client Tool, which is closest to the OBIEE Administration Tool with full feature data modeling, metadata development, and so forth. In a complex environment or implementation, that is the capability that you need. The data modeler, which is cloud-based, simply does its job well, but it just doesn't have as many fine-tuning capabilities. It does not allow as much performance tuning as the Oracle BI Developer Client Tool, which is the closest thing to the older OBIEE Administration Tool. For how long have I used the solution? I have about 10 to 11 years of experience with Oracle products and before that, 8 years with Crystal products. I haven't used Crystal in the last 12 months because not a lot of people use Crystal anymore unless they're using SAP products, but in the last 12 months, I spent nine months working with project teams servicing their clients in cloud technology, specifically in project management. What do I think about the stability of the solution? There is no question about its uptime, reliability, and so forth. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? It's absolutely scalable. The engagement that I worked on was still in the proof of concept phase. I was on the front end of the development of the project, and I didn't administer the product. When it moved to production, it transitioned to a different team, and they handled about 500 users. I know it's capable of handling thousands, but in the particular implementations I've worked on, it wasn't offered to thousands. I certainly have plans to increase its usage because I'm getting a certification in it. I hope more companies are going to be using the product. I'm relying on that. How are customer service and support? I did not have direct experience with their technical support. How was the initial setup? The cloud products that I worked on were already established. However, I do know how to set it up because it's very similar to the OBIEE implementations that I've done. So, even though I have not set up the cloud instance, from going through not only setting up test cloud environments that I've been studying from, I would say that there are two parts. One is getting the initial credentials all set up. This is way before you even get to the software. This is an Oracle thing. Sometimes, getting the credentials worked out properly to be able to access all the pieces that you need can be a little sticky. Getting the credentials is not as simple as it could be. The second part of setting up the cloud would be complex if you don't have prior experience in the architecture that it was based on, which was the OBIEE on-premises implementation. So, if you don't have that background, it's very complex. Even if you have that background, sometimes, the cloud installation just doesn't exactly match, and you've got to scratch your head and say, "Okay, what's the thing that's not in the documentation that I need to figure out how to do to make it work?" What about the implementation team? You can deploy it with one person. I've deployed an entire OBIEE installation entirely by myself. It's not recommended, and it's not the best way, but it can be done. I know, I've done it. To administer or manage it once it's in place, the ideal team would be at a minimum a three to four-person team. Some companies, when they say, "We need to put in BI, and we need people to do that," they're also, without saying it, asking for someone to set up a data warehouse, run ETL, build and maintain that, run the BI, build the interface, do the reports, and teach or train the employees, which is something I've done. In that kind of situation, you need a three or four-person team at minimum to distribute everything from the data warehouse work, ETL, report development, training, and so on. If something is already set up or we're talking about a cloud environment, there may be no data warehouse. If it's all cloud-based, there's no maintenance there. There may also be no ETL because it can be built in. It's just maintaining the BI instance. If the person you're asking to maintain the BI system is not asked to train users, you don't need that skill either. So, it can be done by one person. It depends on what the client desires and is expecting, and for the cloud implementation, what other services the client is already paying for. What was our ROI? There is absolutely a return on investment with this. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? I would rate it a 5 out of 5 in terms of the value received for the price charge. Which other solutions did I evaluate? I have been involved in evaluating other BI solutions for clients, such as Birst, Tableau, and Cognos. What other advice do I have? I would advise finding somebody who has done OBIEE because the foundation, the learning, and the experience of that is absolutely essential or integral, if not critical, to success in Oracle Analytics Cloud. I would rate it a 9 out of 10 because everything can be improved. It's great, and it's capable. There are a lot of excellent things about it, but there's always room for improvement. It is a big advantage for us. For HR, Analytics Cloud is the most viable solution. What needs improvement? Its machine learning and visualization capabilities can be improved. There should be more visualization options. For how long have I used the solution? In our company, we have been using it for the last six months. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It is stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? It is easy to scale. We have about 1,000 users. We've selected Oracle Analytics Cloud as our visualization tool, and its use case is for visualization, particularly because we already have an ERP system, and we also have a lot of data across different functions, for example, in finance and sales. What is most valuable? The specific capability I find important in Oracle Analytics Cloud is that it allows the basic user to easily drag and drop data. I also like that the solution allows the user to decide what to measure and what to see in the reports. What needs improvement? Oracle Analytics Cloud is lacking in charts. They should add more charts to it. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using Oracle Analytics Cloud for almost one year. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Oracle Analytics Cloud is a stable solution. It has good stability. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Oracle Analytics Cloud is a scalable solution. How was the initial setup? I'm only using the web portal and my computer, so I'm unable to comment on whether the setup or deployment of Oracle Analytics Cloud is straightforward or complex. What other advice do I have? I am trying to conduct some usage regarding the self-service BI, however, I haven't been able to implement it in that way. What I have been using is only BI reporting. How has it helped my organization? Previous to using Oracle Analytics Cloud, we had several issues consolidating information in one report. Using this tool, we were able to forget about using Excel and keep using it as the only source of data. What is most valuable? The main functionality is great and everything is pretty standard and easy to use. It's great for consolidation and creating one source of truth. The initial setup is pretty straightforward. What needs improvement? The user interaction with the solution could be better. It can be frustrating at times. Sometimes it depends on the database performance. When we have, for example, a table with low performance, we have several issues with drawing some graphics in the Oracle cloud. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using the solution since 2018. it's been about four years now. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is stable. The only stuff I have some issues with was related to some communication with the database. I had some lack of communication that was an issue over there, however, most of the time, it was very stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? It's not a scalable product. We have about 40 people using the solution and they are mostly data analysts. There is only one business area using the product and we have no plans to expand the usage. How are customer service and support? We did not have a positive experience with technical support. How would you rate customer service and support? Negative Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We did assessments of other solutions. We were also trying to use Tableau and Power BI. The main difference was the self-service functionality. How was the initial setup? The solution is pretty straightforward and simple. I'd rate it a three out of five in terms of ease of setup. We did the full deployment twice and it took us about eight months. We had a team of six people who handled the deployment and maintenance tasks. What about the implementation team? We handled the implementation with our in-house team. We didn't use outside consultants or anyone like that. What was our ROI? We have not yet witnessed any ROI. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? I cannot speak to the exact licensing costs of the solution. In previous experiences, however, I recall it being quite expensive. I would rate it five out of five in terms of the level of expense to expect. That said, beyond the licensing fee, there are no other add-on fees to expect. Which other solutions did I evaluate? When I was onboarded for the project, I was told to use Oracle Analytics Cloud. The assessment of other options is being done right now. What other advice do I have? We have a hybrid cloud deployment and use both AWS and Azure. I tried to use the Oracle cloud, however, I was unable to due to the budget. I'd rate the solution two out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good dashboards and reporting, secure, and the machine learning enablement is helpful What is our primary use case? This product is used for reporting and visualization. We are not using the latest version but rather, one version back. What is most valuable? From a financial or bank perspective, this product is secure enough. The dashboards, analytics, visualizations, and different reports are valuable for business analytics. The AI/ML enablement is useful, as many reporting tools do not offer machine learning models as of now, without writing customized code. What needs improvement? This product does not support custom charts in the visualization. At this time, dataflows cannot be shared, but I think that this should be enhanced. There are a couple of other limitations. For example, many reporting tools offer good features and oracle should learn from that. There should be tool tech enhancements. For how long have I used the solution? We have been using Oracle Analytics Cloud for approximately three years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? This is a stable solution and we plan to continue using it for at least another year. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? I believe that this is a scalable product. How are customer service and technical support? We have been in contact with Oracle technical support and we are satisfied with it. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I have worked with many reporting tools including SAS Visual Analytics, Spotfire, and Activu. There was no specific reason for switching to Oracle Analytics Cloud. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very easily customized; scalable and stable What is our primary use case? Our customers use Analytics Cloud, they are always E-Business Suite customers. The product is generally used for transactional data because for EBS there is no discovery support. We build Analytics on-premise or on cloud and use E-Business Suite for financials and logistics. All reports are developed using Oracle Analytics aside from the principal ones or standard reports coming from inside E-Business Suite. We generally work with enterprise size companies that use various analytics and reporting tools, not just Oracle Analytics. I'm a managing partner in a consulting firm and we are customers of Oracle. What is most valuable? We use Analytics because we have a model for it which can be easily customized. Implementation time can be reduced because of this. What needs improvement? The interfaces could be improved and some in-memory operations could be built into Oracle Analytics. We try to supply those kinds of things using database capabilities. Oracle removed things like cookies in its integration and that caused problems with SSL. I sent the reporting EDS which required a lot of work. It was more integrated with EDS, but now it's more standalone and it bothers me because it requires additional work when customers want to upgrade. Previously, that wasn't necessary so I think those kinds of things can be improved. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using this solution for three years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The product is stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The product can be distributed so it's scalable. Our largest customer is a telecommunications company that has almost 10,000 users. How are customer service and technical support? We are okay on support so we don't need to use Oracle technical support much. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I've used Tableau and I like it. Reports are very fast and I like their interfaces and things can be inherited from or inspired from the other tools. How was the initial setup? Installation takes two or three days if you install on-premise, it's the customer's choice whether it's installed on cloud or on-prem. The time-consuming thing is analyzing the reports and building a report for it. We have five engineers who deal with our projects. Our technical personnel are all engineers. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? There is a paid license that is required and then the customer pays us for customization. What other advice do I have? It is less scalable than Snowflake. How are customer service and support? The technical support services are good. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? If the clients already have Microsoft, we suggest Snowflake, ServiceNow, etc. We suggest Oracle BI and other products if they have Oracle products. The clients take a call based on their use cases and budget. We mostly suggest Snowflake for businesses that run periodically. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is straightforward. Oracle customer service is perfect. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive How was the initial setup? Setting up Analytics Cloud was straightforward because I got help from Oracle. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Oracle is expensive compared to tools by AWS and other cloud providers. What other advice do I have? Currently, I am getting training for Oracle Analytics Cloud and collecting feedback on its use cases like FAW data augmentation and semantic modeling from various clients. What needs improvement? The platform's FAW feature has limitations in terms of usage. We can only use it if implementation access to the fusion application exists. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Oracle Analytics Cloud for two to three months. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It is a stable platform. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? We have four to five Oracle users in our organization. I rate its scalability a ten out of ten. We plan to increase the usage as well. How are customer service and support? Oracle's technical support team takes too long to resolve the logs and issues. How would you rate customer service and support? Neutral How was the initial setup? I rate the initial implementation process a ten out of ten. It is easy to set up. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? It is an expensive solution. I rate its pricing a ten out of ten. It should be cheaper, similar to Power BI tool. Which other solutions did I evaluate? Oracle Analytics Cloud's on-premises version is not as good as other tools like Power BI and Qlik Sense. At the same time, it has more capabilities than both vendors regarding data augmentation and semantic modeling features. What other advice do I have? I recommend the platform to others. It has more functionalities and new features compared to the old version of OBIEE. We can easily manage and expand the subject area using it. It has good security features as well. We use a solution incorporating machine learning and diction to word instructions for student appointments. What is most valuable? The solution is user-friendly. What needs improvement? The CLEAR report has room for improvement. The AI features can be improved. I would like to have extra visualization such as geographical, more advanced org charts, and interactive charts and dashboards. The scalability has room for improvement. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using the solution for one year. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? I give the scalability a six out of ten. The solution is not very scalable. We have 20 people using the solution. How was the initial setup? I give the initial setup a seven out of ten. I had some difficulty with the query and the report flush. The deployment took one month. What about the implementation team? The implementation was completed in-house. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The solution is not very expensive. I give the cost an eight out of ten. We pay on a monthly basis and it is $10 per user each month. What other advice do I have? I give the solution an eight out of ten. The maintenance requires one person. Oracle Analytics Cloud is the gold standard, but new users need to also take into account the price. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? I was tasked with creating around 27 dashboards covering various aspects, such as financial status and personal data. I gathered the necessary source data and applied machine learning in Oracle Analytics Cloud to analyze sales and employee efficiency. After constructing the dashboards, I integrated them to form a cohesive business story. This narrative, akin to a PowerPoint presentation, provides a consolidated view of data from CRM, marketing, procurement, and HR records, encompassing employee details, training, job history, and departmental information, including performance metrics represented by seven digits. What is most valuable? I've discovered that the new layout of this product makes Docker sharing, machine learning support, and data backups more efficient. Unlike the older method of linking physical, pre-logical, and presentation layers separately, the new interface simplifies this process. Additionally, the integration of databases and machine learning is seamless, with the new visualization approach being particularly beautiful and highly beneficial. What needs improvement? The migration of older dash tools from the classic interface of Oracle BI prior to OAS launch to the newer Data Visualization and Oracle Analytics Cloud interfaces, including dashboards and metadata, is currently a cumbersome process. Improvements in this area would be highly beneficial. Additionally, the administration of the cloud, particularly the startup of services and linking of the WebLogic server and integrated components, takes longer than desired. In today's enterprise landscape, waiting forty minutes for the server to be operational is quite lengthy; ideally, this process should take a maximum of four minutes. It would be excellent to incorporate metadata management as an integral part of the Oracle Analytics Cloud. When dealing with integrated data from various sources, tracking data lineage and the entire data life cycle, from sources to report development and the mapping of reports to specific dashboards, should be seamlessly managed within the Oracle Analytics Cloud. This would eliminate the need for additional tools. Drawing a comparison, tools like Tableau have a feature enabling metadata management, making it easier to trace the complete data lineage of reports. Managing over seven hundred and thirty-six business dashboards, the metadata management capability within Tableau simplified the process of understanding how reports were developed, including details like associated tables, users, linked views, materialized views, data segmentations, ETL jobs, and the data warehouse stages. Enhancing metadata tracking within the Oracle Analytics Cloud layout would facilitate easy and practical management of the complete data life cycle, encompassing user accessibility and report permissions. For how long have I used the solution? I use both the classic dashboard and the new Oracle Data Visualizer in the Oracle Analytics Cloud, formerly known as OBIEE. Additionally, I employ Oracle and XServer for data visualization, along with Enterprise Manager for security implementation. Web browsers are also used to ensure proper access and rule enforcement across users and the enterprise. What do I think about the stability of the solution? While I consider it stable, there's room for substantial improvement, especially in terms of model standardizations. I would rate it 8 out of 10. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? Oracle serves as a comprehensive toolkit with every imaginable feature for enterprise-level data visualization. However, certain aspects, like installations, are more complex compared to other tools such as MicroStrategy or Power BI. Despite these challenges, Oracle stands out with its exceptional features tailored for enterprise use. Its capabilities surpass those of desktop-oriented tools, catering to a broader scale of businesses. The system offers advanced functionalities with a user-friendly interface, allowing for easy generation of visualizations through simple drag-and-drop actions. Data sharing is seamless, providing diverse options like file sharing, email, and presentation experiences. Oracle's multiple layers of interfaces distinguish it from other products that typically offer a single visualization interface. Additionally, Oracle excels in data security, allowing for encapsulation and control over data sources, ensuring a high level of security and data reduction features. How was the initial setup? It was not difficult; rather, it was quite straightforward for the cloud, while a bit more complex for the OS. Recording was involved, but still easier than the prior Oracle BI version. It proved faster, less reliant on separate installers, resulting in a smoother and quicker process. For authorization, we simply set up the cloud, authorized the environment, and configured everything in a guided process. For the Oracle Symantec server, we installed Java, set up the Linux server, configured the Oracle database, and installed the Oracle IP server. Regarding deployment time, assuming the installers are ready and the environment is provided, the cloud setup takes about one hour, while our dynamic server takes approximately two to three hours. What other advice do I have? I would recommend to evaluate the product based on your specific feature requirements. If Oracle Analytics meets those needs, it's the optimal choice for enterprises. However, if the features are not necessary for your use case, explore other products more suited to your requirements. For enterprises, Oracle Analytics stands out as a top choice. The product should improve its user interface. It should be welcoming and modern. Developers should also find it easier to build data models. Oracle Analytics Cloud needs to have better visualizations and more options in the marketplace. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using the product for three years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I rate the product's stability a nine out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? I rate the tool's scalability an eight out of ten. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I used Tableau before Oracle Analytics Cloud. We switched to Oracle Analytics Cloud due to company decision. How was the initial setup? Oracle Analytics Cloud's deployment is straightforward. You need to create connections and ensure that proper syntax is made. Also, proper configuration is needed to be made in OCI. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The tool's pricing is not unreasonable or non-competitive. What other advice do I have? You need to overcome a learning curve to utilize the tool's benefits. I rate it a seven out of ten.
