This mouse is clinically proven to alleviate pain and discomfort of repetitive stress injuries in the hand, wrist or arm associated with the use of traditional mice - which requires forearm pronation and may cause pressure on the wrist and carpal tunnel area. The 3M Ergonomic Mouse has earned an ease-of-use commendation from the arthritis foundation for its patented, vertical grip design that keeps your hand and wrist at a neutral angle, while the mouse works as a regular optical mouse. Grip the handle and rest your hand on the base.

Product Reviews
3M EM550GPL Large USB Wireless Ergonomic Mouse is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from The wireless version was disappointing! I bought this mouse a month ago brand new everything worked fine. Suddenly all my devices cannot recognize the dongle (it used to blink red when I would try to connect, now it just holds red and does nothing). The mouse is now landfill unfortunately. I would recommend getting the wired version as I have now read that I am not the only victim of the poor design of the dongle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I'd pay double if it were more robust I've used these mice for about 20 years, since before 3M was making them. They work well ergonomically, but I wish they were higher quality. Buttons eventually break, and even when new things are wiggly and more noisy than necessary. How about making a deluxe version that is really crisp, tight, and lasts well? I'd pay two or three times as much for that.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Needs to be a little more rugged I have had several of the large mice. I started with the wired version, then moved to the wireless. They have all worked very nicely, until they fall off a table, or get packed for shipping, and didn't survive the trip to a new office. I am a bit sad as the one I have is out of warranty, and it isn't working as well as it should. It fell off my desk the other day. It might not have been replaced anyway as falling off a table isn't exactly a manufacturing defect. I just wish they were made in a slightly more rugged way. The neck tends to be the fragile part. The neck breaks in two, and the buttons misalign - especially the "middle" mouse button along the back of the upright column. There is no way to put Humpty back together again, the middle mouse button becomes highly unreliable.Having said that it's still my favorite ergo mouse on the market. I find it to be comfortable and works well with my large hands.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The middle button doesn't work in a text editors Hi, I bought the mouse 1 week ago and I have issue with the middle button. It works in plenty applications but not in a text editors, like notepad, notepad++. Is it possible to implement it somehow? [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very comfortable to use for long hours I have had 2 3M Large ergo mice and loved both of them. They allow me to mouse for hours at a time without pain. I got carpal tunnel from overusing a standard flat mouse and had to switch. After surgery, I could not use a standard mouse anymore.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Terrific idea, could use a bit of refinement I am on perhaps my fifth Renaissance mouse, from when they used balls. Clearly I like it a lot. The good: it is the only mouse I know that puts your hand in the handshake position AND takes the weight of your hand and arm off the table, so that your arm muscles move the mouse instead of your wrist. That lets me spend 12 hours a day in front of the computer, if needed. The less good: The weight of the hand rests mostly on the right side of the base, especially below the heel of the hand, where the base becomes narrow. The left side of the base takes almost no weight. And the base glides on five small, round, flat feet of slippery plastic (probably HDPE), almost paper thin, and one foot is right below the heel of the hand, almost right below the 3M logo. So that one foot takes much more weight than all the others. Believe it or not, that foot eventually wears out from friction and pressure, and disappears. Now the feet are uneven, and the mouse will then rock a little on its remaining feet, making the cursor leap around the screen. Also, a metal screw that secures the base protrudes out of the base slightly, and when there is no plastic foot providing clearance, the screw will scratch and drag on the table (I use a thin, hard mouse pad.) How to fix: I can think of several ways to fix these issues. One is to make the pads much wider and thicker. I notice many mice have a longish bar of material underneath to take wear. I would recommend only three large pads, so the mouse never rocks from uneven wear. Another way is to make the entire base from HDPE, so the load is spread and the wear is much slower. It would also help to replace that pan-head screw with a flat-head, so it doesn't protrude at all from the base. But the best approach, in my view, would be to redesign the mouse so that the base is centered on the heel of the hand, and not on the stalk. and move the stalk out to the left edge of the base. Thank you!
