Tripp Lite's 10-meter (33 ft.) USB 2.0 active extension cable is a bus powered extension cable that can be used to increase the length of a device cable without the worry of signal loss and potential performance problems. USB limits a cable's length to 16ft. Any length above 16 feet requires the use of an active cable such as this one. This cable has a signal booster built in. The overall cable length can be extended up to 131ft by daisy chaining up to 4 of these active cables. The cable must be plugged directly into a USB port (either on the PC or a hub). Use a standard 6' 10' or 15' USB A-B cable to reach the desired distance.

The U026-10M provides up to 150mA of power to the connected device. If your device requires more than 150mA of power, it will either need to have its own power supply; or, to be plugged into a powered USB 2.0 hub (such as U222-004-R) that is connected to the U026-016.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I finally got a good one!I finally got a good one! I have tried many usb cables, and I finally purchased a Tripplite product the cable uses quality thick cable with durable molded connector ends. But best of all it worked the first time with no compatability errors, and self loaded necessary drivers correctly. Thanks Jon

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so goodTwo of these cables were purchased to hook two MacBook Pro computers to an iConnectivity PlayAudio12 audio failover interface. Other reviewers have stated that their computer recognized this device as a hub. Evidently this just depends on the particular computer that is being used, so if your computer doesn't "see" this cable as a hub, that doesn't necessarily mean it is not working. Some reviewers also commented about liking that the cable has a light to indicate it is operational. Evidently, the manufacturers have seen fit to discontinue this feature on the current model, so now one just has to assume the device is working properly, since there is really no way to tell anymore outside of data loss or signal dropouts. Both my computers seem to be passing four channels of audio just fine, with no perceivable latency or dropouts, so I can only assume my cables are working. Considering this is happening across a 40' run on USB 2.0, I think it's a logical conclusion. Since I won't know if something is wrong until the cable fails, I deducted 1 star. Otherwise, I'm satisfied with the product, except that it is also shipped in a smallish package, and is wound pretty tightly. I'm not sure this cable is ever going to lay flat, which is also a bummer, but not worth deducting another star IMO. Hope this helps anybody else to avoid some frustration when their computer doesn't "see" this device, and when they don't see a light on the repeater housing. I understand that 2.0 is somewhat antiquated at this point, but the device I'm using is the only one of it's kind currently, and 2.0 is the platform they chose to build it from. I contacted TrippLite directly about my concerns, and they answered all my questions quickly and professionally.
