fast, accurate, light, compact
I traded in my 55mm 1.8 lens towards this new 50mm 1.4GM not because I needed it I got G.A.S. and wanted something new and wanted to treat myself. This new lens is very light, its smaller than I expected, I was expecting the lens to be heavier with a larger glass front element so was surprised to see something smaller than my expectations.
I've not had the chance yet to do a proper studio shoot with it, so I've been taking random snap shots around the house of my daughter, I was amazed at f1.4 how quickly the lens focus and nailed eye's tack sharp when very quickly raising the camera taking quick shots, was very happy with the picture quality.

Great pice of glass .
I’ve had this lens for two two weeks, I’m a street photographer and I love asking strangers for a portrait, this lens suits my needs perfectly, it’s tack sharp too.

Really happy with it
My first GM and decided to go with the 50mm 1.4 over the 1.2, i tested it in Antigua Guatemala, and man this lens is sweet!

A great lens for outside the studio.
I bought the 50mm G-Master lens to travel with because I wanted light weight. If I wanted a wider shot, I would do a panorama. If I wanted a closer shot, I would walk closer or put my camera in APS-C mode. I also like being able to change the aperture with the aperture ring. I use this feature when I am in bright sunlight and am unable to see the camera data on the screen. As a travel lens it did everything I asked it to do and very well, I might add.

Fabulous lens
This new lens from Sony is excellent. IQ is as sharp or sharper any other high quality lens (including other GM lenses) I have owned and its features (e.g. aperture ring and focus hold buttons) make this lens fast and efficient to use during a photoshoot. Compact for a f1.4 fast 50mm lens making it an absolute joy to use.

Everything you’d expect
I’ve only used this lens on the Sony FX3 and from this, you will achieve a very cinematic look, especially if adding an ND filter.
Fantastic lens with a very smooth look at an affordable price.

Simply PERFECT!
My experience with this lens is AWESOME! Super sharp images even at 1.4 and had not seen any chromatic aberration even with photos that would be full of it. Auto focus performance is great. LOVE the lens.

Stellar optic wide open
I purchased the 50 1.4 on 2-13-24 and have used for PR, commercial and even architectural assignments. I am just beginning to experiment with this lens shooting video at 1.4, a visually exciting scenario made much easier by Sony's fabulous AF system. I would rate the image quality of this lens (shot wide open) on-par with any Leica rangefinder lens wide open. I shot exclusively Leica for years in the recent past.

This is a wonderful lens.
It focuses fast and matches my 35mm G Master lens. It is definitely my preferred focal length. I also love that my 35, 50 and 85 all use the same filter size.

As above : great lens but awful service. So bad I have sold my FX3, ZV-E1 & (new) A6700 along with 7 lenses (5 of which are GM). Great products - poor customer appreciation.
