Plantronics M 214C - headset is rated4.00 out of5 by9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disappointed. Plantronics is better than this.I bought the 214 from a local office supply store because I could not find the better version (175c) anywhere and saw it was discontinued online. What an utter disappointment. PROS - None reallyCONS - Mute button is not easy to find or use in a hurry (say a sneeze or cough). - Constant crackling sound just from the cord slightly moving. - Incoming volume level is nowhere near as high, even at max volume (I tested it versus my 175c that is becoming useless after 3 years due to cable fatigue) - Listeners complain of voice being too soft on low setting, but almost yelling on high sound setting - Worst of all, the designer of the packaging must not know much about cable fatigue. The cable coming out of the mute switch is bent 180 degrees right at the connection point. You can already tell there is fatigue in the cable from this and I am willing to bet it won't last three months. Cables are almost always the weakest link in this type of headset and when you exacerbate that with such an easy to spot packaging issue, well .. I just have to believe you don't want them to last. The only good thing about this headset is that it might give me three months to figure out something else. Plantronics OWNED the 2.5mm cordless landline phone headset market and they basically just let us all down.I have found some 2.5mm adapters that fit the better Plantronics 'Quick Disconnect' headphones and I have so much respect for Plantronics that I might try one of those, but I am very disappointed in their decision to get rid of the best headset I think they have ever made. Please bring back the 175c, with a bit more durable cabling and I would easily drop twice the money on it than this 214.I give this two stars only because it is still better quality than all the ripoff generics out there that sound like something from a kids toy. I would give it more if I felt it truly deserved the great Plantronics brand name. Very disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not enough volumeThe listening volume control just did not have enough range. Wife says take it back as she would be using it for extended talks with friends. Also came with absolutely no instructions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Consistent echo; have had to replace 3 timesThis is my 3rd time replacing this headset due to an echo. I am giving it 1 star for how lightweight and comfortable it is, but that is all I can say.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy For The Availability Of This ProductI have been using this product for at least 8 years when I speak on my home phone. The quality of sound is excellent, but the product life span is not very long. I have to replace it every 4-6 months. Since it is the only product I have found that still has a wire to connect it to the phone (ie not blue tooth), I have become quite dependent upon it. Please do not quit manufacturing this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love/Hate Plantronics M214C cordless phone headsetI bought the M214C headset 10 days ago and overall am disappointed because a 60 cycle hum badly disrupts conversations. The hum loudness depends on where and the direction my head is turned but it never goes away completely. On the other hand the clarity and volume of conversations over the headset is vastly superior to my old headset. I'm returning the headset to the store and exchanging it for another with the hope that the first headset has a defect that won't be in the second

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2.5mm connection to phone no longer workingBoth myself and my husband use these headsets for work. They work great for a while, then it no longer works correctly. BOTH of our headsets stopped working on the same day. In order to get it to work, you have to twist the 2.5mm connection and find a spot where it now works with the phone, and then you can't move the connection at all otherwise, you can no longer hear through the headset. While I like the product when its working, it seems to stop working in a matter of a year or two and needs to be replaced. Products should last longer than this. It does seem to make it to the one year warranty mark, but not much past that so unable to get replacement through the warranty. Is there any way to fix our existing headsets???

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wish it lasted more than a few monthsI have been using these for 5 Years. Nothing else is available at the stores. I always get the product protection since they don't last. I need it for work so when it breaks I have to retail. I'm going to order another one online and keep this one as back up. Tired of them not lasting.
