I installed the CBR40 on the top floor and a satellite in the basement - signal strength is great throughout the house. Our Comcast plan is 200 Mbps download, but on my PC, connected to the CBR40 by Ethernet, I have average 240-242 Mbps. A PC attached to the satellite by Ethernet averages about 200 Mbps. Really amazing! And easy to install. My only concern is the CBR40 seems very warm - I wonder if I should put a fan next to it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from At first great but flawed I had issues with devices connecting to the satellite router instead when the those devices were closer to the main router. It gives good coverage for an apartment but speeds are mediocre. I have a 200 mbps and would reach 170 On average to the main router when next to it. Which is not bad. The bad part is the satellite would get 30-60 mbps and I live in a 900 sqft apartment. It would drop connection when stating the satellite has a good connection. The cause is the channels are congested in apartment buildings and causes too much interference. The satellite has difficulty sorting through the interference. If you’re in a house you will probably have a better time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked great until i update my service for slower speeds 150 it worked great on xfinity.. i have now update to gigabit internet and they tell me my modem is not compatible.. is this true? doesnt it have gigabit ports on back? i dont get it.. my curremt top speed maxes out at 200 while paying for gigabit if i cant get this settle its going in the trash.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not worth the Cost New Orbi CBR40, with Cox Max speed is 150mbps with 300mbps program. Not worth the price or worth the hassle. It looks nice and runs really well at slow speeds. Get the Docsis 3.1 anything before buying this.

I have struggled with leased comc@st cable modems (Arr!s models were the worst, connection drops, lost and slow internet for years. Upgraded several times, countless hours with tech support, rebooting, resetting, exorcism's and praying for service to return. We had cable service techs coming to my home at least 3 times to do a wire trace from the outside box through the house like sherlock homes trying to track down a ruthless bandit following cable run, splitters, boxes etc... often replacing them along the way. However none of this worked in resolving the issue of not having the consistent, stable and fast internet that we were paying for. To comc@st's credit they always worked with us, pro-rating a credit for us when we would go days and sometimes a week without service waiting for a tech or support to call us back. So I thought you know let's try the modem (who knows) ...comc@st had replaced my current leased Arr!s model 2 times already so I knew this was a stretch but I was willing to try anything. So I researched cable modem routers and eventually found this Netgear Orbi CB-40 model at Costco. Once I got it setup my family and I stood around this router watching intently like a life boat in the middle of the ocean, holding our breath, saying a silent prayer and crossing our chests hoping this would resolve 14 months of internet madness. To our great surprise and much delight this incredible piece of equipment fired up in a minute...blinking lights started shooting across left to right, blinking then steady, blink then steady...with each light we gripped our hands tighter until the final light went steady. We looked around at each other like, can this be, was it that simple.... in disbelief we started checking our phones...check, laptops....check, then finally the holy grail, tv streaming.... CHECK! We ran around the house jumping and skipping, the neighbors came over to make sure we were OK....however I secretly harbored the dread that this could not last. The next day, still going strong....good, a full week no issues....great, a full month, not a SINGLE solitary issue...excellent. It has now been about 10 months now, let me tell you we have not had 1 (that's ONE) issue with this cable modem and the satellites make the coverage to the whole house SO SO good, there are no dead zones. Setup and management of this router was so easy, I cant believe how much better this system is than the rest. I work in computer IT and security (I do not work for nor am I affiliated with Netgear in anyway) and I am soooooooo impressed with Netgear on this system. Kudo's to any person, group, team or aliens responsible for the Netgear Orbi Cable Modem and Satellite WiFi Mesh system.... grand slam baby! Keep up the good work, keep your prices reasonable and this will continue to be a HUGE success, I am bragging to co-workers, family, neighbors and random strangers I find in the grocery store lines.... so impressed!!!! Sincerely, your new and loyal Orbi customer!

The CBR40 is not an approved modem by Cox, despite Netgear advertising to the contrary. The box has both model numbers on it. Why do you make this so confusing?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Defective Unit. Got a defective product. The unit let devices to connect to the guest wifi, but no internet connection. Also unable to reset the router. I tried resetting myself and followed the instruction of the tech rep while on the phone, the unit wont' reset to factory default. Also, you are responsible for the freight charges of shipping the defective unit to NETGEAR.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Router is running hot. Intermittent internet. I bought this Orbi Cable Modem Router with 2 satellites on April 2019. Recently, my internet keep getting disconnected many times each day. I have rebooted, reset, called internet company, but still having the same issue. I noticed the router is very warm to touch so I run a small fan in the back of the router. Problem has been solved, no more disconnecting internet. This is a temporary solution while I am buying another wifi mesh from another manufacturer.

We have a very large house - most of which is single story. The main computer and telco supplied router is upstairs. At present we can't get any wifi at the end of the downstairs area and most of the areas downstairs are very slow. The house floor size is 371square metres.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not so impressed. Compared to my Netgear R6300 this is not doing so well. Had issues setting it up despite the claim it would be easy with Xfinity. Had to call them and have them flip some switches and spent some time on support. Then like 3 days later had to reset the system to factory and redo it again as speeds and performance awful. Finally settled in and was doing good but I have and avg 1600sq ft cape home and cant even get signal to stay connected on my back deck. With my old R6300 I could go sit in my garden 50 ft from house and still watch youtube with no issues. This one...constantly buffers and says Not connected...back online.. Not connected... I pay for 350mbps service and a few times have gotten 350+ but usually 200 -250 wired. XboxOne though seems to get only 25 - 60 mbps WIRED. Handles enough devices but not stellar with speed or range for claimed 2000sq ft coverage. Software also not impressive and have had about a year now and never got a firmware update so far. No QoS settings either. Just links you to SpeedTest. Software also seems catered to mesh but using this as stand alone unit as advertised 2000sq ft coverage but not getting that at all. Also, I have ended up turning off 'Circle' as it caused issues with my sons ability to use Microsoft store despite permissions and just didnt have the level of fine tuning I expected. Personally I would have liked a newer version of the R6300 with some of todays modem features. I like that its a Modem and Router in one but still needs improving. For the high price tag - expected better. Family wants me to ditch it. Have rebooted it like 6 times in as many months trying to get better performance, range and stability but so far its not impressive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Constant connection issues. I have had this for about a year, it was a huge improvement over my very old equipment. Shortly after I got this my internet started to drop out every day to multiple times a day. I’ve searched forums for answers, contacted them and didn’t get any help. Firmware updates, restarting, resetting, changing advanced settings as recommended on the forums, reverting back to original, nothing has helped. Netgear knows about the problem, it’s a widespread issue and they have yet to resolve it. I recommend buying something else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great when it works First 3 months after buying,it worked flawlessly. Within 1 ft of the base,I can get my max speed of 200Mb/s. With 1 satellite, at the farthest point from base I can still get 150Mb/s. After 3 months,I started to get connection issues. Wifi portion is fine but the cable modem part is not connected to the internet. I immediately switch to my old modem and its fine. Sometimes reboot works,sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes a reset is required. This happens about once a week, which is too often. Also this unit is slow to reboot,taking about 4min, sometimes it never establishes connection by flashing purple. When it works it's fantastic but the stability is poor. Using latest firmware does not help. Orbit app is not the greatest, device manager doesn't always show all my connected devices.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don’t waste your money We bought an Obri CRB40 in March 2020, it’s Sept 2022. Yesterday the router went offline. We tried the 30-30-30 reset along with every factory reset know to man to no avail. We called tech support and they tried all the same avenues we already explored. Solution: the router is dead. As grandpa says ‘they don’t make ‘em like they used to.’

The devices randomly stop working , i need to reboot and set up the devices again which is hit or miss. The smart devices will fail to connect with error messages " disable AP isolation" . This option does not even exist on the router to turn on/of .I need reboot the router multiple time to se up the smart devices .

My 16 devices are always ready to work. Anxious to see if my next home with 2 stories instead of 1 will still have the coverage I am in love with. You get what you pay for. This was an expensive option but since there are 2 of us working from home it gives great return on investment.

We would watch something off our Apple TV from a basic extender and it would be glitchy or freeze in order to download. We decided to invest in the ORBI cable/modem combo and satellite! It is unbelievable. We absolutely love it. I cannot imagine using our WiFi without it now. Great product. I recommend it to everyone to purchase this product.

I have Xfinity service and my speeds almost doubled compared to the Motarola 7550 I was using. I have 6 Arlo Pro 2 cameras, 4 TV's and numerous other wifi devices connected and the speed is great. Setup was also very easy. I recommed this to anyone that is on the fence.

The connections from all my devices (desktop, laptops, tablets, security system and peripherals have benefited from the speed and the ease of channel switching with this router and its satellite. The app used to manage the network is easy to use and intuitive. I can manage who and when can access my network from anywhere. Installation was a breeze without having to contact my service provider (huge +).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best yet Our house have always had issues with Wi-Fi this system solved or issue with no Wi-Fi in part of the house that is only 1400sqft with a big concrete chimney in the middle of the house that runs almost halfway across the house, from basement to attic. This system actually gets the Wi-Fi signal around the chimney so we can have Wi-Fi in every part of the house.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy It was a pleasant experience to install the system, ones unwrapped, plugged in and synced with the isp, it ran and still runs. Took about 15 minutes all over all. Only hiccup, it seems hard to determine the signal strength of the satellite to the router. So far, other than the colored light indicator, there is no real way to determine the signal strength and quality. So I am going continue to be on the lookout for any piece of software that provides me with a way to determine this and continue to scepticaly keep an eye on netgear suggested blue light.

However, simply following the guidance on the app I was able to install the Orbi and have everything up and running in about 15-20 minutes. The improvement was dramatic with download speeds increasing from about 60 Mbps to 125 Mbps. I could not be happier with the Orbi Whole Home WiFi system.

I was originally led to buy just a standard modem from another brand and tried it out for about a week. I'm paying for 150 mbps download speed on my internet and even with the supplied modem from the cable company I was only getting about 40-50mbps. With the modem that I bought it was worse, 15-25mbps. I went to Best Buy and was shown the Orbi system. I decided to purchase it and boy am I glad I did. It was super easy to set up. I am now getting 170-188 mbps. What a difference in streaming tv now. I recommend this to anyone.

This system is much improvement over previous setup. I got 22 devices on my Network and everything are working great and I not losing wifi connecting in my whole house.

Although we were paying for 1 Gbps speed, we were only getting 5 Mbps upstairs. Our new Orbi system increased our speed to an average of 320 Mbps download. I would absolutely recommend this product to anyone wanting to get closer to the internet speed they are expecting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great wifi after a few adjustments I plugged in my RBK40 router and imidiately was getting 450mbps on a plan I pay for 400mbps(wired. The wifi even upstairs once I plugged in the satellite was much faster. After a few adjustments in the advanced settings (beamforming turned off, along with fast roaming, and mu-mimm(sp?) After completing the set up don't forget to call your cable company and tell them you changed modems or you will have wifi but no internet connection. Hardest part was labeling all my connected devices. I didn't realize I had 9 different things (2 phones, ps3, 2 tv's, thermostat, iPad, and 2 others I am still trying to figure. Labeling is not required but helps in diagnosing your stuff.

Its built-in cable modem kept equipment to a minimum and the router plus satellite provides much better coverage for our 2600 sq ft home than our previous Frontier device. Installation was easier than expected despite seeing some reviews to the contrary. We now have strong coverage in locations that were very weak before. The system costs more than some other options but eliminating equipment rental helps offset that. I'd say we got what we paid for. Two weeks in and happy with our choice!

I was nervous about moving to a bigger house and making sure everywhere had fast Internet. The Orbi has proved to be the best! It was easy to setup and my kids can play Fortnite anywhere in the house now.

He have a lot of hard wood and old plumbing between the basement where the router is and the upstairs where the satellite is installed. These concerns were unfounded. The signal strength with the Orbi by far surpasses our old equipment. Our DL/UL speed has even increased! No more buffering when watching Netflix!

The coverage in my three level townhome is exceptional, providing a major improvement from my previous modem. Set-up was straight-forward however I did need help from Netgear's tech support due to a few issues related to the Xfinity install. The customer service experience was excellent! Highly recommend!

I purchased the whole home orbi system simply because I already have the WiFi orbi system and have had great results. As a matter of fact it's the best WiFi system on the market, so it was an easy choice getting the whole home cable modem and WiFi. My only complaint would be you cannot to my knowledge combine the WiFi orbi's to the cable modem and WiFi. If you can would love to know how you would combine them since right now I have 2 orbi WiFi systems. Buy this product regardless.

It's priced high but if you have a lot of devices that you have spent a lot of money on don't you want them to get the most out of them, I know I do. I found the wifi speeds where just as fast as being Ethernet hardwired and the range of the wifi was incredible. I will never to back to a non mesh system. Once setup I prefer to use the web portal on you phone or computers browser to edit the configuration. It is a lot of money but you get some really nice features like backhaul of Ethernet off of a satellite. I live in a quad level home and wifi has always been a issue . Finally after 10 years with other setups I have to problems. I would of payed the money a long time ago if this product was out . This has fixed my ALL of my internet issues.

They never did which I might be thankful for. First of all the router could never provide full coverage for my house. Lastly, I own not lease my router so no monthly charges. Within ten minutes I was proven correct! I have a 2,000sqft home with matching size basement, front yard and backyard, plus an attached garage that also use to be a dead spot with my previous wifi network. Two carefully placed devices and I have perfect wifi signal in every corner of my property!

I was having so many issues with my cable provider modem router when I went in to my local Best Buy and the worker there introduce me to the orbi. At the time I thought it was way to much. So I came home and I couldn't stop thinking of it so I YouTube it and decided to pull the trigger on it. I wasn't let down this is truly an excellent device easy to install step by step app installation. My speeds have gone back to normal no let downs what so ever and also come with Disney circle that's a plus. I love it A+++

I purchased this to first off replace my rented ($13/mo) cable modem; and secondly to install an up to date, secure mesh network to increase the speed, reliability and accessibility of my home WiFi. The installation was simple using the app. For more control, a browser interface is also available (not the case with most residential mesh systems).The results were more than I had hoped for. I have alleviated all dead/slow spots for my network and significantly increased WiFi speed everywhere in my house. No more complaints from the online game interruptions from my kids, or video streaming buffering from my wife. This will pay for itself in a couple of years by removing the cable modem payments. I couldn't be more pleased. I only wish I had done this years ago! I wish I had done this two years ago!

We live in a 3500 square foot house and I had really bad will go coverage. I would run speed test and only get like 55g down load when paying for 100g. Ever since we hooked this up we have been speeds over 105g running 6 wi fi camera, 2 doorbell cam, 2 nest thermostat, and TV's! We couldn't be more happy with this and highly recommend to everyone!!

It has made a tremendous difference in my home network. I had previously only been gunning at a fraction of my max internet speed on WiFi (LAN connected was fine, but wireless was much slower). ORBI saves the monthly fee so it pays for itself in less than 1.5 years. Then the satellites are paid for in 3 years. Plus I get better range, coverage for the entire property. We would have the network overloaded with our smart home and visitors. Next tried casting music and bam! We got timed outs or flicking lights or freezing up. Now with the volume of users increasingly beyond my need and hubbed network we have a smart and friendly home. Where have you been! I am on COMCAST as a provider and the connection to the router to COMCAST was very easy. I'm not a tech guy at all but my unit was up and running perfectly in less than an hour. Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Love the Orbi CBK40! Like many people, I struggled for years with a dual setup of router and cable modem, both provided by my ISP. They were totally outdated, very slow, often problematic, and cumbersome to work with. In addition, I was paying a $10 monthly fee to Spectrum for the "privilege" of using their outdated equipment. When I learned that Spectrum finally approved the Orbi CBK40 for use on their system, I jumped at the chance to have just a single "state of the art" device. The CBK40 is super fast, extremely simple to setup and use, and recognized all my WiFi devices easily. Setup was truly a breeze. While Spectrum said on their website that the CBK40 was rated as just "minimally" qualified, the speed I'm getting far exceeds both my expectations and also the stated speed on my account! There is no latency, and web pages load almost instantly. In short, this product blows me away! My single regret is that I didn't move to this awesome Cable Router sooner than I did!

The ORBI (CBK40) cable modem installation was just short of a plug and play device. I did have to call the cable provider for activation. ORBI also gave me the opportunity to upgrade my router and do away with an access point.

I've had 1 main complaint with them in the last 2 years since owning a home and that is I can't get internet in the bed rooms. The signal is to weak and the fix is to rent another tower for more money and get low quality speeds. I pay monthly for 140Mbs and am lucky if I see about 75 on WiFi and 100 tethered. Orbi has solved both issues in 1day the moment I installed Orbi and say speeds past the 140Mbs I was next level happy and the. Installed the satellite in the bedroom to have full Wi-Fi everywhere in my house. If your thinking of getting the Orbi just don't think about it do it it's 100% worth the price you pay

The NETGEAR Orbi Whole Home WiFi System with Built-in Cable Modem (CBK40) has not let me down. The setup was extremely easy via the mobile app and the built-in management tools have made it simple to set child use restrictions. The coverage has been nothing less than stellar and now that I have cut the cord, I am able to stream 4k UHD on all of my devices at once. I would recommend this product to anybody looking to modernize their home wifi experience.

We tried 3 different modem/router combo's then we found this Orbi system. WOW!!! what a big difference full strength everywhere and even in our screened porch going through the brick exterior. No more little extenders plugged into outlets around our house!! Forget the rest, save your time and buy this first. You won't regret it. Thanks NETGEAR!

I was a nervous because of the cost and not being very technical myself. The set up was simple, step by step. I hooked up all our devices and unlike the one provided, it worked with no delay. I have several t.v. 's that use wifi at the same time as well as a son who loves his gaming. We have had no problems. It was definately worth the cost with no frustration.

Worked out if the box with the orbi app. Connected 2 satellites seamlessly and have full signal and strength in all my rooms. House is 2000 sqft 2 levels. Love it and would recommend anytime. Put satellite in office so we could convert Wi-Fi Signal to Cat5 Cable for tower PC, really improved speed. 2nd Satellite will go in 1,000 sq.foot addition to bring the strong Wi-Fi signal there. Speed Tests are getting 300mbs which is huge improvement.

This WiFi system with built in modem will catch your guest(s attention similar to a lava lamp when it was first introduced into the market. The Orbi work great like any other WiFi system that I purchased before but the design set it apart from any other that on the market.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome!!!!! Our modem we had was the one the internet companies give you. We were to be getting 200mbps and with that router getting maybe 75. Decided to try the Orbi and getting anywhere from 190 to 215 every time I check. Our Orbi is in a back room and we don't have issues with signal strength anywhere in our 2222 sq foot house.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to set up works great After getting very frustrated with dead spots on my home WiFi despite an extender and the ever present buffering on Apple TV, I did some research and bought the Orbi system. It was easy to set up as promised and now we have WiFi all over the house, no dead spots and full signal throughout the house. Buffering is also a thing of the past and I am waiting to replace my air printer as it works fine on the new network. I would recommend to anyone, does everything it promised with frustration free set up. It also looks nice into the bargain!

The whole process took me less then 5 minutes. My internet speed is top notch and what was advertised. Thanks for a terrific product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Orbi CBK40 The hardest part to setup was getting the device activated through Spectrum. Once done...it was a breeze. Increased speed by 2X immediately. I have had zero internet disconnects since installing system. WiFi covers entire house and my deck.

Always had trouble with getting internet on devices and speed was so slow that time ran out. So far, devices connected wirelessly with no problems and speed is fast. Only had one issue with my husband's computer losing the internet. The Orbi was not registering in the wi-fi to choose from. Restarted the computer and it was back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Coverage So Far! I repaced an older netgear modem/router combo with the Orbi and now I have no dead spots in my house and I even have coverage in most of the yard as well. Plus the modem design is nice and isnt nearly as much of an eye sore.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unstable I have owned this device for four months ago. I had issues with the device dropping internet. Not entirely. The wifi showed active but there was no way to manage the device when it went into this state. Spent time to get a new device. Same problem. Lived with it until randomly the WiFi dropped and came back. Just not a product I would recommend and I know its happened to others. Netgear needs to do the right thing with these and recall them.
