Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works at times but drops connection often I have had this extender for 2 years. I pair it with a Nighthawk R8000 router. Over the course of the 2 years I have owned it, it will work well when it first connects to the WiFi signal but then drops that connection to the router after 1-3 days. At that point, I have to unplug this extender and re-plug it into the wall to cycle it power off and on. Then this extender will establish a solid connection with the router only to drop it in a day or two. I am happy with every other Netgear product I have owned, but I would encourage others to avoid it or make sure it works reliably before any return time is up. I see that Netgear often says please contact us for support but be aware that they support they offer runs out long before the product reaches the end of its service life and that can limit the product's usefulness.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 5GHz band is dropped repeatedly 5GHz band is dropped repeatedly. Unit is 30 feet from the router which is a very short distance for WiFi and is on the same level vertically. The light just goes out and my phone reports WiFi disconnected. Will come on if rebooted but seldom lasts more than a day. Other users report similar behavior. Netgear response is to call tech support. I have called 3 times. Usually get someone who says I need to talk to someone else. Last person just talked generalities with no specific suggestions except use a specific channel instead of Auto. Seems silly but tried it. Doesn't not help. Fortunately I can return the unit. Model 7500 seemed to be the best one which plugs into wall socket.

Not only did the extender help stabilize the network but also gave us better range for outdoor living since I placed it near the lanai ... we spend a lot of time outdoors with pones and tablets!

We had spotty WiFi throughout our house and once we put the extender in we have not dropped WiFi connection at all. It also works all around the house, in the garage, in my workshop etc. another plus is it uses the same log in for your current WiFi so no remembering multiple WiFi names and which one you need where.... it’s all one and makes it super simple. Especially for someone like me who forgets his password all the time!!!

Setup was relatively easy, however I have not experienced better internet signal downstairs, and the connectivity light randomly changes to yellow. I can stand next to it with a phone or computer and have perfect signal from the router.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Backyard Glamping Purchased this Nighthawk X4S WiFi Mesh Extender (EX7500 as a solution to extending poor WiFi signal to our backyard outdoor living room which is about 40ft away from the back of the house and about 150ft away from my router. What I was finding prior to configuring this extender is that the signal was having a hard time consistently getting through the walls, brick furnace stack, etc. This extender virtually solved the issue as I was able to strategically place this in an outlet between the router and the inside back wall of the house. Bingo! Now we have smart home lighting, virtual assistant technology and phone/laptop browsing anytime we want in our backyard! This even opens the door for us to stream movies and sports on our outdoor projection screen! Giving this 4/5 stars because the signal at times does get finicky and typically switches channels often when extending the same SSID, meaning we lose connections and sometimes have to reset the extender by unplugging and plugging in again. But, this is a minor annoyance that takes just a couple minutes to resolve. Overall, so far so good on this purchase!

My gaming console now connects to 5g wifi signal with 100% signal strength. The furthest bedroom now has excellent reception, no more slow downloads with this device.

No way to trouble shoot and no Ethernet port, probably should have saved a little money and bought the AC1900 dual band. Or maybe it just won’t hook up to spectrum, don’t know.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from it works well My primary router was set up at one end of the house. Normally runs about 225MBS. At the far end of the is our desk top. It was getting 15MBS on 2.4 only. One bar signal strength. It also tried to run the wireless TV cable. I set up the extender in the kitchen, 1/2 way point, and now the desk top receives signal at 70 to 80 MBS with almost full signal strength on 5 MGH channel. The signal has to travel thru the kitchen appliances, the kitchen and bathroom walls, shower, sinks and hot water heater etc. It also runs the cable box with no problem.

I had a tech claim ongoing with Netgear and before it was fixed my 90 days expired - no further help. Not impressed!

Once installed, surprise the limited range you have - generally get a red or orange status on device yet the extender seems to still provide excellent signal strength. Also hard to use Nighthawk app. It says router not supported.

Non-mobile devices (Ring and TiVo began to drop connection and reconnect to the further Netgear gateway, bypassing this device, which is between said devices. After around four phone calls, dropped calls, and hours with customer support reconfiguring settings, it’s too much of a headache.

Set up easy using the Netgear application. You may need to configure your channels on the modem/router and extender for best results which was easy. Dedicated channel for communicating with modem is great. Using the same credential on extender as your modem/router makes switching seamless. I would have to say that the extended gives better range than Fios Gateway modem/router. A

It upped my speed in slow areas and haven’t had any issues of devices being able to connect. I have over 20 smart lights that use wifi and this helped get everything working more consistently. Thank goodness for the app. I had previously purchased a Nighthawk and wanted to expand the WiFi to reach my 70 year old moms room so she could watch the Greek channels on her tv. I plugged the sucker in and it automatically registered on my phone and it did everything for me. I would still be struggling if it wasn’t for that. I would gladly repurchase from Netgear and strongly recommend to anyone who asks. I don’t think many people would ask me though because people know I need techy help!

But since I installed the netgear nighthawk mesh extender, I get great reception from even the other side of the house! I’ve tried wall circuit extenders and WiFi extenders but they only give a small signal output. The Nighthawk mesh extender has had the highest internet speeds out of all the products I have tried! I would recommend this to anyone who is haven’t trouble with their internet range. You won’t regret the purchase!

Before the extender, wifi to the outdoor cameras would drop constantly and wifi in the front rooms of the house was terrible. The system was easy to setup.

The only real downsides are that it disconnects sometimes randomly but nothing can be perfect, and it is difficult to set up if you rename your WiFi. Everything has it’s ups and downs though. Overall it is a good product and I would highly recommend it for people suffering from slow WiFi. Pairs well with the other Nighthawk Products!

I spent couple hours trying to get it up and running recently, one light just wouldnt come on. Had to retry multiple times. They need a 3D map to show which direction out from it has strongest signal; I find it hard to believe its equal in all directions. Maybe I could have called customer service or searched their website, more time wasted. I have 800 Mbps coming in house on google fiber but their wireless router nowhere near that. This does improve it but still only 80-90 Mbps, adequate for my needs but 10% of hardwired desktop

I tried and tried to get this thing up and running and then determined in the midst of the whole ordeal that my router 5GHZ side had become intermittent. I got a new one and all of the sudden the netgear extender began to function correctly. I still had some issues with the nighthawk app and it’s connectivity and still do. That app could function some better. A good part of the time it won’t connect to my router saying it can’t find it when I am trying to see what is connected to the extender it is frustrating to get the can’t connect to router message. At some random time later it will connect. Overall I think this system works pretty good once setup.

Only problem i have with it is how it randomly drops the wifi and doesnt connect to it. I also feel like the website used to configurate the extender could be a little easier to navigate , a little more user friendly and that it should use actual throughput stats instead of just made up ones. All in all it does its job a good percentage of the time and thats all that matters , its also very affordable .

I still do not understand why it sometimes loses the signal when it is not located more than 30 or 40 feet from the router. Next time I probably would try a larger router instead of a mesh extender.

It will create problem with the devices and the wifi where they are connected. Once you have it connected, it becomes disconnected without much explanation. The extender appears to be a headache instead of as solution.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from End result is Good I purchased two EX7500 extenders to connect to my C7800 netgear modem-router to use as a mesh system. I had issues at first trying to get the first one connected. A little more information in the instructions would be helpful. Once the first one was connected, the second one connected with no trouble. After both were connected there were issues with using the same SSID. Having around 40 devices, and most are stationary, the devices were having trouble connecting to the network. I gave each extender 2g and 5G ssid a different name, ended up with 6 names using the same password, and had no issues after that. With stationary devices that use one ssid is no problem. With mobile devices such as phones and tablets where multiple ssid passwords can be stored is no issues also, they will connect the strongest signal on there own. The only problem is Amazon tap echo that only sets to one ssid, I would have to physically change and re-enter the password evrytime when moving the echo from one area to another. I still need to contact netgear support to find out how to use the same ssid name without having any issues being there are so many devices that are stationary connecting to the network and having one that needs a mesh system using one ssid.

The speed tanks to less than 15% of the total bandwidth of the home while the 5Ghz band keeps pace. I called support and they were unable to help get the product working. They offered a replacement, but I have seen others experiencing the same problem.

Already had 2 router on ground floor, one at each end of the house where we spend most of the time. None of them did provide strong enough signal to the upstairs bedrooms. When I got me the EX 7500 I just plugged it in, a quick setup to map to my existing router and to extend my network. Using the same SSID on all 3 stations. Can easily take phones and tablets throughout the house without problems. Very satisfied!

One thing that I have a problem with is it seems to drop the signal fairly easily and it takes time to reconnect which makes it hard especially when you are relying on the extender for certain functions. I would give it a B.

The item itself is too big and 'front heavy' meaning that it pulls away from the socket and therefore has an unreliable power supply. However, further to that, it's setup is not straightforward and the WiFi signal that it provides is unreliable as it switches between 2.4 and 5GHz... this results in the signal continually dropping out and / or poor service. WiFi business calls and virtual meetings are better held over a phones 4G which is by far more reliable that this product. Very dissatisfied.

I tried to get a refund for this product and was completely ignored. I suggest getting an alternative extender from a different manufacturer.

I have a R6900P and bought the EX7500 extender to my wifi would work throughout the entire house. It doesn’t. It constantly makes the wifi in the house worse! I drop calls, video conferencing doesn’t work because the signal isn’t strong enough and videos constantly need to buffer. I reset the extender multiple times and it still doesn’t work. I unplugged the extender, put it in my junk pile and now just use wifi within the range of the original router. I wish I never bought this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy - reliable - flexible Wi-Fi extension I own a Netgear Nighthawk 1900 router so when I needed to extend the Wi-Fi range to our family room I went with the X4S to ensure it was compatible and I didn't lose any speed. I also liked the wall plug feature so I can easily move it later, like out into the back patio. Initial setup on my laptop wasn't intuitive but through my iPhone it was simple. Also it did the trick allowing me to use 5G for our TV well away from the router.

The ability to keep the same name and password as the base router is IMO, HUGE. The seamless transition between bands as one moves about really works. I had occasion to contact Netgear support for changes to the extender's operation and that also worked well. I'll be getting a 2nd extender soon. Kudos to Netgear for this unit!

A pantry, kitchen and a large stone fireplace between these two areas block most of the wireless signal to the family room. The Netgear EX7500 eliminated all of the weak zones in my home. I originally had a problem connecting the EX7500 to the 5G band on my router, but turning off the automatic channel selector on the 5G band and picking a channel solved the connection problem. Having the option to use One Wifi Name and password for the entire network is also a big plus. I now have a seamless network covering the entire 4,000 sqft house from the basement to the 3rd floor attic bedroom. I recommend this product.

Three great notes now that I am using the X4s WiFi Extender device.... 1 One of my 5GHz WiFi devices would drop off-line periodically. Once I installed the X4S, NO Drops have occurred. 2) Doing from one room to another that is now covered by the X4s does not drop and I don't have to change the WiFi connection names, and is very nice. 3) Works great with my R7000 Router. - Thanks, Netgear, for great WiFi extender.

Seem to only work on certain computers with more updated wifi cards. But once it was set up everything linked to it like a charm. It's nice to you can even change the name and designate it to work as it's own system. I would highly recommend this product. The customer service is great as well! After two hours of playing with setting I was able to connect to the 5 Hz only. I have a detached garage with in 10 feet of my house. Sign is weak despite being no more that 75 feet from WiFi router. Don’t know is if the siding or brick but if I stand in door way of garage it’s full signal

We have an AT&T WiFi router that is t strong enough to cover the house. Rather than spend more for a new router I went the extender route. Once I connected the extender to the router I moved it to about the middle of the house in the entry hallway. We now have full bars seamlessly throughout the entire house and can even sit outside on the front porch and still stream movies or surf. Easy setup and less cost than a new router plus seamless connectivity equals a win.

We reconnected and it happened again. After the 3rd time, I researched a bit and found out the firmware may need to be rolled back a couple versions for a good connection that doesn’t drop. No thanks. We unplugged it and put it back in the box.

I purchased this extender, which was very simple to configure, moved it to a wall outlet about halfway between and plugged it in. After it reconnectedto the X10, I connected the television to it and no further issues with the wireless dropping from the TV. Works extremely well!

I took it back and bought the Nighthawk X4S AC2200 Tri-Band Wallplug WiFi Range Extender (EX7500 and not only does it cover the entire house.. I can stream video while walking around the entire outside of house. Excellent product.. One that actually works as it's advertised.

Delivery was quick. It was very easy to install the extender. It contained very clear instructions that included pictures. It took me less than ten minutes to install. I really like the extender it has a buttons on it that light up in different colors and in a varying of brightness that helps you to locate the right location for the extender in my home. I tested my Internet speed prior using the extender and after. I definitely had an increase in my speed in the location where there was a dead spot. From 20 MB of data it increased to 190 MB. So no more dead spots. I have Cincinnati Bell Fioptics 200 MB and this extender works very well with it. So if you have a big home or you just want to amplify your internet speed it is the right device for you. It is not complicated to install and it works very well. It is just worth the money.

I was deciding between tge EX8000 & EX7500, deciding on it because of the size. For my purpose it does exactly as advertised, expands the routers range throughout the house, garage and any where outside, mainly the back and front patios. The unit is very easy to set up and the Netgear online assistant worked great for me. It's plugged into one of our outlets where it expands the range best and can be unplugged and moved with out loosing any programmed info. I don't need to change the wifi connect name since it automaticly uses the same name as the router. I use the EX7500 in conjunction with a Fiber Optic, Century Link (Qwest modem/router, Definately a 5 star product in my book.

Now we get incredible speeds anywhere in our house, 70 ft one end to the other. It goes through walls like they are not even there. All 5 of us can be on doing multiple tasks. Mom and dad can work from home, while the kids are gaming away. All three bands are available to everyone. This range extender was just what we needed, now, no one complains they can't get on or the internet is slow. This is one happy family. We highly recommend the Netgear Nighthawk X4S Tri Band wall plug range extender, it is fantastic in giving us internet coverage all over the house, upstairs and down. Once I did that set up was super easy. I suspect comcast router wasn't cooperating for the push the power button step. I think paying a bit more to get multiple bands for speed and the potential to use either regular or the -5 wifi network is worth the extra money, especially to have one that just plugs into wall.

However, once connected, I no longer have dead spots and no longer need to use an access point which required a change of network and there is a fast WiFi response throughout the house.

I installed the Nighthawk in my loft office and the Range extender downstairs for the rest of the house. Honestly, I am not 100% sure the extender is doing that much more, at least not based on speed tests in each location... but I have it anyway because I am just the guy that wants as much up/download speed in every nook. Oh, one thing - it takes a bit of "debugging" to make sure the extender is working and connected to the Nighthawk - if you move it, then sometimes it has to be reset other times not. Not sure why.

The WPS makes this a breeze to connect to the existing WiFi and it has zero slow down and gives you the same speed as you get from your main modem/router. You can further customize things via Ethernet and a PC but it isn't required. Owning Apple devices myself it switches between the main modem and the netgear seamlessly. I've owned a few netgear products in the past including the WNDR3400v2 as well as the WNDR3000 extender and I've never had anything to complain about with them and this EX7500 is no different and just works which is great,y appreciated.

The Netgear Customer support , doesn't exist, the never responded to my questions. However the X4s was easy to setup once I figured out how to connect to my WIFI network.

Tried this product and it actually gave me enough signal to watch Netflix without any buffering. I would suggest this product to anyone looking to boost a signal.

Set up wasn't as easy as it should have been, I actually had to do it several times as the One Name Smart Roaming thing just didn't seem to work. I was about to send it back because it was constantly showing offline, so I set it up as a separate 2.4 & 5 G networks. That seemed to work much better since I mainly wanted those signals stationary. It would have been better if the One Name had worked better, I don't understand why it kept showing Offline that way & maybe this issue should be looked at. Being able to turn off the lights was real help since they lit up the whole room, way to bright & should perhaps be on the side or back. I have this hooked up with my Linksys Tri Band AC2200 router, I now have WiFi everywhere.

Our main WiFi Nighthawk box is 100 feet from garage, and the extender is able to reach an adequate signal. I am very pleased with both Netgear products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Great Setup was a breeze. Plugged it in and let it power up. Press the wps button on the router and wait about a minute. Relocate the extender to a location with a good singnal and you're good to go. Total time about 10 minuets. Not sure of the speed but it's a lot faster than my older extender and has the same name and password as my router. I'm extremely happy with this extender.

Just ONE SSID and your devices will automatically establish the best connection. 4 different tv's are streaming 4K content without buffering, one is a video game and ping is <10ms

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the money Having used multiple other range extenders and extended access points to try and encapsulate my 3600sqft house, I relented and shelled out the money for this device after the last access point began failing due to the heavy amount of routing that my multiple devices force on the processor of the extended AP. So far, after over a month, I have maintained faster overall connections on every device, and have not experienced one lockup due to bandwidth routing. The only noticeable problem caused by this device was actually my main router, and it maintaining multiple channels via both low and high band without congesting the router (which was solved via another story. Suffice it to say, this extender definitely handles the higher traffic and bandwidth environments, and reaches farther with faster speeds than any Wireless AP or extender I've used so far, and has been worth the money!!

We recently moved into a newly renovated 1950's cape...I am not sure why, but wifi access to the second floor was very limited from a FIOs router on the first floor. I wanted something that allowed you to use the same SSID across the home. For this reason I went with MESH technology and I could not be happier. Simple set up - just plug in near the router - connect to a website - configure - and then move the extender to desired location. Works awesome - I get great speed upstairs now. Highly recommend.

However, the farthest room in question was formerly at ~15Mbps. After adding this unit I got 155Mbps! It has NOT dropped out or required any resets. I was advised against range extenders by an IT guy at work, but seeing the impact it has had here, I am sold! I would strongly advise buying this device!

With a smart tv, xbox, receiver, harmony hub, directv and all our smartphones and tablets being used at once in our family room, our WiFi was being pushed to its limits. So instead of getting a new router to add to my existing modem, i went with the NETGEAR Nighthawk X4S Range Extender and couldn't be happier with the performance. For example, when watching 4K content on Netflix, before adding the range extender, the signal would buffer for a while and was not always the best quality. With the Nighthawk range extender, the signal is strong and content loads immediately. Sadly, our internet is not consistent in connection but when it's working, the Nighthawk Range Extender delivers and does not disappoint. Setting it up was simple and fast.

We were constantly losing our internet connection to the tv. I placed the NighthawkX4S in a location where simple direct lines existed between the Nighthawk and both the router and the smart TV. Worked like a charm. Extremely please with its performance and would wholeheartedly recommend it.

Both wifi extenders constantly drop signal and my phone gets wifi connect error of "authentication error" many times. I don't know why it does this as both wifi extenders are at very strong signal areas. I have to reset wifi routers every few days to get optimal performance. Disappointed!

The instructions for this device are not the best and could be improved. The website could be improved too. But overall the device is very good to excellent for my expansion needs of doubling ~2000 ft coverage.

I had no connectivity before and that night I ran to an electronic department store and purchased this thing. The installation was intuitive and fast. I now have wireless internet around 70 feet from where I had it previously.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2nd Thoughts I bought this device because of the single wi-fi name option. In contrast to the extender this one replaced where I had 2 wifi network names in the house. My hope was this extender would only show the 1 wifi name and then devices would automatically connect to the best option for signal strength. It does have a single wifi network name however it seems like my devices somehow lock into the router wifi signal or the extender signal and stay there and do not switch to the strongest signal unless I turn off wi-fi and then reconnect manually. Ultimately it's not more convenient than my previous extender where I had 2 wifi network names and would manually reconnect when in different parts of the house. So far this is a big disappointment but perhaps I don't have it setup correctly yet.!?

Knowing Netgear and it products, I researched the internet and purchased the EX7500 Mesh. What a product and although it took a bit of work to get it up and running, I now have a max WiFi signal in the entire house! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast little WiFi extender Purchased Netgear x4s wifi extender EX7500 to cover a dead spot for my son's room and downstair room that my Netgear R7800 couldn't reach. This extender has 30 feet by 30 feet coverages, but for the downstairs wifi signal is half the wifi coverages as upstairs where the extender was located. This wifi extender connected to a dual band router about 20 feet away with 2 walls at 192Mbps for 2.4GHz and 867Mbps for 5GHz. This little guy provide good speed for gaming that connected to 2 gaming Laptops, 2 phones, and 2 tablets.

I took a chance on this Netgear Nighthawk after reading the reviews and it worked. It was easy to set up and used my existing SSID and password so no interruptions of having to switch WiFi on devices. I'm not a big gamer but it covers all of my smart home devices and the surrounding yard with full strength signal, before I got a lot of buffering with video and streaming music. This is the one that should solve your WiFi problems.

My Nighthawk Router actually covered most areas of my 3 story home pretty well, but had a few spots where signal was poor. Added this Extender, and it solved all issues. Not a single disconnect issue so far. Was very easy to set up with WPS, but did eventually have to log into Extender to upgrade firmware. Also rebooted Router. Signal lights on the Extender easily identify best placement location. Like the single SSID feature and no loss of speed when connected to Router vs. Extender. Highly recommend.

Using AirPort Extreme on one side of house it extended all the way to the outside of the opposite house and seems to have no loss or drops which I had with previous extender. It only took a few minutes to setup and it immediately found my Nighthawk Router without any issues. It also shares the Nighthawk App and seamlessly switches from one to the other to see what is connected. I would recommend this to anyone who has weak wifi areas that need coverage.

Service can be sketchy cutting out momentarily. I have had 2 calls with tech support totaling 2 1/2 hours on the phone to people in India trying to troubleshoot! A lot of time spent never to get back. Should be a plug in and go product!

Unfortunately, the issue with the device is that it is quite inconsistent in terms of getting decent performance. While devices connect to the extender and it shows strong signal strength, there is an issue with the device's backhaul connection to the router. I've tried to utilize without smart connect and the only remedy that has worked is to reboot the device. I'm using an X4S router with this device and the latest firmware on both devices.

Set it up manually. Worked for half a day. Then quit again. Returned to store for a refund. Very disappointed. I expected better.

I connected this one and renamed it UPSTAIRS so I knew what was connected to it specifically. The website they have is super helpful so you can see your connected devices, settings, etc. I called in and the guy spent literally an hour with me on the phone walking me through everything, he was super helpful. I am surprised at how well it works, the CIO offered me a hotspot and I told him no thanks, I’m keeping my extender lol.

Unfortunately, the cameras can not be reassigned to a new WiFi account. The mesh was purchased to boost and extend what was already in place. The mesh simply added another line. Also because the satellite fades in and out, the mesh also fades. This works best with a steady WiFi which we do not have but had hoped this would fix.

However, I found the instructions to set-up the AC2200 WiFi Mesh Extender (EX7500 confusing. Videos I found online were (somewhat) more helpful. Within an hour after installation I noticed that the extender kept cutting off and on. I then read other reviews citing the same issue so I decided to return it. I was hoping the service would be consistent instead of immediately having a problem.

I followed the Netgear instructions pamphlet and linked to its website for Netgear installation assistant. I was told by Soft Tree Tech., Inc was the authorized tech support for Netgear. So I paid $149.99 to fixed the connectivity of my new extender and my router. 2 days later when I reboot my router I lost all WiFi connection on my devices. I had to go through Soft Tree again in order to make it work. This time Soft Tree technician advised me not to perform any basic setup on my own but always have their technician to do the work. At that moment, I realized that I had actually lost control over my own router and Soft Tree had complete access to my Netgear admin account with my password. I became very concerned about my internet / computer privacy being compromised after speaking with Soft Tree’s adviser. I contacted Netgear by phone again and was later told that Soft Tree was not an authorized support provider. I researched and decided to replace a new router and return Netgear Range Extender EX7500. I just wanted to make sure things are secure. I was surprised to see so many customers got scammed by Soft Tree Tech., Inc. in Netgear Community Forum. My question is how can a company pretend to be Netgear and be allowed to con clients into forking out $149.99 when they could have got support directly from Netgear for free under 90 warranty support?

A friend suggested getting a signal booster/extender. After doing some research, I purchased the NETGEAR Nighthawk X4S WiFI Mesh Extender EX7500. WOW! What a difference! It was so easy to setup. However, periodically (quite often) it will stop broadcasting either the 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz network (or both), causing my devices to drop off the network and get confused. I haven't found any settings that make a difference, and sometimes resort to unplugging the thing so my devices can reconnect properly. Very frustrating.
