Being an electronic heavy family and using a lot of devices with the dual band router it’s is immaculate for keeping its high speeds with every device connect. With the upwards of 1800 sq feet I can use any of my devices wherever in the house and still have the fast connection as if I was right next to it. I’ve had router before where if i went into the next room over I would lose my connection but never with this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still runs after 8 yrs My biggest complaint is the router forces each of the clients to use the router for DNS resolving (it then forwards it instead of the actual DNS setting. If you use pi-hole or AdGuard Home, you will only see the requests coming from the router and not the client, which prevents you from troubleshooting a malware event or having client specific settings.

I ended up having to purchase a Nighthawk WiFi Mesh Extender. It would have been nice to get it working without to avoid the extra cost.

It permitted the computers to sign onto the network, but either by WiFi or by ethernet cable, the router would not connect to the internet modem. The modem was working; the old router connected fine.

I have an older router that easily gets 600mbps without any special configuration. I spent several days trying to get this device to work correctly and in the end it looks like poor firmware has made this unit worthless. Stay clear of this router!

In less than 10 minutes our apartment's wifi was running perfectly and it tucked perfectly away in the kitchen! The connected app is a whole other plus - I can reboot the router from anywhere if the wifi crashes or there's an issue, and even monitor the network status and speed all from my phone. I would recommend this to all my friends and family!

It covers my entire house (approx 2400 sq ft with a full wifi signal. Very pleased with a relatively inexpensive router.

However customer service walked me through it... once connected, I have never had such consistent connection in speed and coverage in my home from just one device. My wife depends on it as she works from home and is constantly moving from the couch to office to kitchen on her laptop for work. The app is so simple to manage all devices and quickly diagnose/resolve issues. Look forward to always use this brand from now on.

My expectations we’re high, but the speed was not dramatically better, just average improvement. I normally install all devices, but this one needed to be set-up with customer support as it was inconsistently working. Sometimes I’m connected to the internet and the neat-gear app shows “connect to router”. Long story it is average device and inconsistent. Hoping it gets better over time.

On top of all that our ISP is COMCAST XFINITY and it adds that much more security but that isn’t the main focal point I love the Netgear NightHulk it is turly fast and it really really lives up to its price tag hands down. As some one who dose a lot of coding and other networking stuff this guy stands up to the plate with no problems.

It works seamlessly with my VPN and processing power provides the bandwidth required for online gaming while being protected by my VPN services. 10/10 would recommend this series and NetGear in general. My friend that I play WoW with asked me yesterday what I changed because my connection is faster than theirs now. I simply explained to them my new router and modem setup. At first it was a challenge working with the setup process but after I got comfortable with it, in the future things will be easier. I like the speed on it because I never have to worry about a slow connection. If my family ever does zoom there is no slowing. I don’t even know what it’s like to experience a connection issue cause I never had a time when I was disconnected! Overall I am pleased with my product and intend on staying with netgear to meet my internet needs...

We knew we’d need a router that could not only handle the dramatic speed increase (from 10 to 250 mbps download speed) but could also provide reliable, quick accessibility between 2 work at home parents, 2 remote learning children, and all other devices (phones, echo dots, blu ray player). The first time I ended up having to resetit, reinstall the app and go through the entire set up process again. That's not even working this time. Had to go back to my old router, which BTW, has been working for like 10years.

With the ISP supplied modem/router combo the wifi signal was not reaching across the house. Once I clicked on the correct option for the install, install was pretty easy. I did not want to install the mobile app, so that probably made it more difficult for me. Only negative is that I got called by support during the install. They tried to help me out, but they were not too helpful. Basically just called to upsell me on an extended support plan. That annoyance aside, this is a very nice router.

It randomly kicks devices off the network, and I consistently have to reset the router to factory settings at least once a week. The network rarely has consistent speeds and despite contacting technical support with our internet provider and trouble shooting everything multiple times for 4 months, our device STILL does not work

I upgraded the firmware (it was out of date) but still only get 30 mbps. My computer was OLD and could not see a 5G signal from the router. We were told by a tech that the router was not designed to work well with the Nest and Blink WIFI camera systems used at the house. After a week on the job, no problems!

So I bought a cheaper linksys and problems went away. Then This year I was convinced by the reviews. Bought another one at 300 plus. I am A+ certified by comptia in computer hardware and software, and also a cisco certified network associate. I have worked on networks for years. This thing is so buggy, dumbed down, and hyped up its ridiculous. Don't buy the hype. It's trash. I will be returning it and going with a mesh configuration .

While it continued to broadcast within 5 feet, the rest of the house suffered. Fortunately, our computer guru suggested we buy another as backup years ago. Well, it finally happened, the original started limping and we are so glad we had the backup! This is perfect for our needs in a 1600 sq. ft. house. I only wish we could find a backup for the backup that isn't used/refurbished :-)A

Now, the thing will just start rebooting on its own and dropping wifi for the house multiple times a day, sometimes in an hour. Firmware updates were done, hard reset was done, still continues. Time for a new one it seems.

The handling of the 2.4 and 5GHz as a single SSID, the separate guest network, the range and the administration app are all great. That said, the reason I chose this make and model was the embedded Circle parental controls. Although I wish the Circle was generation 2 and that Netgear would have continued producing Circle-embedded routers, I got my hands on this one and so far I couldn’t be happier.

We called for service and he went through something and still did not work. He suggested we have a tech call us, but the cost would be $129.00. We work at it for a few more hours and finally did a hard restart. After we redid the password and a few other thing we were able to get it working. Could not figure out why the service person didnt suggest this. Why would they want to charge us $129 to get there new out of the box router to work. Very disappointed.

Alas, even though the R7000 can deliver more of the megabits supplied by Spectrum to most of our wireless devices, its range still does not reach the far edges of our home as we hoped it would... so the extender could not be retired and the signal in the master bedroom is still barely adequate.

All of our devices connected seamlessly and we have gained a stronger WiFi signal in any location of our home. I went out to the garage to see if the WiFi signal was better and it was. The garage location is approximately 120’ from the base and goes through multiple walls. We have also noticed the we can download faster than our old equipment. We used to have issues while watching movies but since the change there has been no problems, even while running multiple devices.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best most reliable router Netgear makes great routers, but the Nighthawk R7000 (AC1900 is definitely the most reliable, easy to setup, and secure router I have owned, 2 prior to this router that were good, but not a GREAT as the R7000. The QoS is a MUST when you have slow internet (live in a rural area). QoS is a great way to manage the bandwidth automatically. Monitoring network traffic is easy and informative. The 2.5G and 5.0G allow for our devices to be "smart" so when I am in the house 5.0G then when I go out to the barn (horses) it automatically goes to 2.4G versus my older router where I had to manually switch. You cannot go wrong with this router. Oh, the ReadyShare is fantastic to connect a 2Tb USB drive to the router and access the files from anywhere in the world. Awesome!

I have my product in one end of my house and I can go outside with my laptop and sit on the porch on the opposite side of my house and I have no issues with interruption or poor reception. I recommend this to anyone with a terrible WiFi range. It is also super easy to hook up and use for the first time.

When we moved to a new home where they included internet, we were unable to use out C6250 anymore so I bout this R7000 nighthawk and have been super impressed. I was worried about reception in our two story concrete home but we get it all the way upstairs to our sons Roku device and it works great. We really love the parental controls as well. What an awesome router!!

Easy set-up connection to my cable modem. Very happy with the AC1900 (2 weeks since purchase and set-up).

Since then it spontaneously disconnected every single day. After frustrating research and trying a few "fixes", I ended up re-installing an old firmware version for the sake of stability. Again, no complaints with this router until the update, but some frustration afterwards for sure.

A quick setup on the Nighthawk app and it connected right up. The wifi works great, is strong, fast, has wide range, and I love that there are two bands depending on which device you use. Very easy to set up and works well during parties when I invite many guests. It does what it does well and I have never had such a great experience with Wifi and never encountered any problems at all.

I live in a 1600 sf ranch and wanted something that could reach everywhere in the home including the basement. I tried to put the router as close to the center of my home as possible. I tested the download and upload speeds in every corner of the home and was getting a strong signal strength at all locations. I even went outside and the end of my drive way (30ft long) and still got signal. I currently have 400 mbps download and at the farthest point of my home between two walls it dropped to 150 mbps. Now I wasn’t concerned about that location since it was only used for streaming. Overall very happy with my purchase of the Nighthawk AC1900

My previous router kept losing connectivity so I purchased what appeared to be a solid box. The reviews were great so I gave the AC1900 / R7000 a whirl and am blown away with the experience of not needing to baby sit the box. Great equipment!

On my previous router, we had to limit the amount of people that could be connected to Wi-Fi or else it was super slow. That is no longer an issue. Nighthawk is the way to go! Now everyone, including guest, can enjoy high speed internet throughout the whole house (including garage). Thanks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not so great The R7000 does not deliver. Netgear claims it to be a gigabit router. This router can not achieve gigabit through wire or wifi. I currently have comcast gigbit service. I have a netgear cm1000 modem. From the modem i am getting gig, but the router is only delivering around 550 mbit over wire and less than 200 mbit over wifi. This router will not do gigabit and definitely will not do 1.9 gbit over wifi regardless of how it is set up. Customer support has no solution. I have the latest firmware as of Jan 23, 2021. Spent $200 on something that cant deliver.

Was leary about going the Nighthawk line again but researched several sites and the AC1900 showed up on several being able to handle multiple devices and as of this review it lives up to its reviews. I am VERY happy that this model router comes with parental controls and a VERY easy to use app to control it. Thanks for a GREAT product

I also got the message below that I was connected to NetGear72 and I needed to connect to NetGear72. Also the app is a piece of crap and stopped working on me multiple times during setup. I'd rather get a syphilitic infection than use this.

Supervisor refuse to talk to me unless I give credit card info. Tried contacting corporate with no luck. Contacting the better business bureau now. Customer support puts whatever they want on the case file not what was actually said so I hope the phone calls are actually recorded. Putting up reviews everyplace I can and on all the Internet forums about the quality of the product and the support you get!!! Patrick was the customer service and Sheila was the supervisor. The router is extremely slow so I thought a firmware update would help it out. Unfortunately the Nighthawk app is useless. The “find updat” times out repeatedly and the app is currently frozen on router settings. I have spent hours trying to find a solution but it appears that I am not the only one in this situation.

Then in a span of a year I had a 48 port switch die (only a year old) and then this router which ran fine till about 6 months in. Now it routinely reboots. Range is diminished and speeds not good. It has shaken my belief in Netgear. Keep waffling on whether to replace only because doc added expense and whether I’ll get a good one this time.

I have combined a Nighthawk 8000 (primary router - downstairs) with my Nighthawk 7000 (repeater - upstairs) and I have given my two story, 3000 sf home great WIFI coverage. It required me to run 150 feet of ethernet cable to connect the two routers but the work to pull the cable and the performance I am experiencing was worth the effort.

From the start every 8 hours the router was kicking every device connected to it off of the network. I contacted warranty who made me jump through hoops before they wrote it off such as, factory resetting the device twice, manually update the firmware, testing a different router, testing the modem, removing the password off of the router and leave my network open, manually forcing the bands of wifi. None of this worked and it took a month before the devices was RMA. The kicker is the return process. Its a 2 week turn around between returning the defective device to get a new one therefore I would need to buy a new router in the meantime.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I only gave it 4 stars because… Our ISP informed us that the router we were using was not giving us the speed of internet our package was capable of delivering. The demands of the internet usage on the system pushed me to get a modem. The modem, unlike the previous one that was 8 years old, did not have the router housed in itself, so I also needed an external modem. My last modem/router was a NETGEAR one, and the current router is NETGEAR as well, so I thought I would keep it in the family. I bought the router, and set up with the Nighthawk app was TERRIBLE… it was so bad as it took six hours and a call to customer service for me to realize that the router itself had a software issue that prevented the set up from occurring. The unit was brand new. Went to return it to the vendor and decided to just get an exchange instead of giving up on it. Thankfully, I didn’t. After setting up the router, internet was had in about 20 minutes or less. It was a much better process and I haven’t had service interruptions so far (as was the case for the last modem in its last days.) I only gave this review 4 stars because of the inconvenience of returning the first unit, and just the set up process with the Nighthawk app. I didn’t know I would be required to download an app that I really don’t need, but here we are. Otherwise, it is a decent product.

Always easy to setup whether from the wizard or the router itself, and always work like they're supposed to. I always recommend Netgear equipment to my friends especially over Cisco. The customer support is amazing if you ever need it, however, these routers last forever and are so easy to setup. No need to be a network expert either. I love this router, and the sub sequent ones I have set as access points. All work amazingly well.

The WiFi was so slow I was about to switch to cable internet again but I remembered I still have this router, hooked it up and WOW. The WiFi is super fast now, I guess the modem/router combos aren’t great. I don’t always have to reset this router like I did the combo either. I love this router and will always use it!!

I wanted to use my own router instead of my ISP provided one, with needed Vlan tagging. The R7000 configuration menus were a snap, easy the fill in the data, apply and reboot. Perfect. The only suggestion to Netgear would be to add a "Save" feature after each change then "Apply".

Sometimes it re connects immediately , other times it can take 4-5 minutes which can be frustrating especially when streaming a show or trying to make a video call.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Intermittently will not retain settings after power glitch I have two R7000's installed in my home, one recently started having issues after power failures. The router would lose the configurations settings, such as ssid, and port forwarding. So, I purchased a replacement (same router, thinking this would make things easier) router, first power glitch, lost wireless settings, could connect thru wired ports but not wireless ports, similar to the unit that I was originally having issues with. Spent several hours reconfiguring. This has happened several times, and on occasion, after performing a factory reset, no ip (dhcp) supplied, even thru wired port. Search online before buying, a lot of issues with configuration lost after power failure and seems to have a lot to do with which version of firmware you are running on the router

But idk if it’s my internet provider or if it’s the router….so the only bad thing that I would say is that it drops the connection at least 2 times a day. It takes about 5 mins to reboot and we’re back up. But overall it’s a pretty great router.

Also with the newer computers i wanted to take advantage of the higher mips. I wanted the change to be seamless and it was. I simply shut down the old router, used the same wifi name and password and even the -5G network was created. Using my phone made it fast and easy to setup the router and everything reconnected without issue. So far no dropouts or connect issues.

Router works great for all my wireless devices: Cell Phones, Laptops, Gaming Systems, etc. Plus the Circle Parental Controls are wonderful to have for piece of mind for our younger children. No need to worry about them being exposed to harmful sites and/or images out on the internet. I would highly recommend this router to everyone.

It was working fine one day. Then the next day, literally nothing. Port just goes out and I’m just stuck. The only minor issue I had is I wish there was a way, in the app, to adjust the channel the router is using. You have to go to a webpage and login there to do this. You should be able to do everything all in one place. Either you do everything in the app or you use a website, otherwise there is no point in having the app if you still have to go somewhere else to access some control features.

I previously had a rented mesh network in my house through my previous service provider and wanted to purchase the same. Until I saw the $400 price tag. I took a shot with the much less expensive Nighthawk AC1900 and wouldn’t you know it, interwebs everywhere. I positioned in centrally on the first floor of the two story townhome and so far I haven’t noticed any latency anywhere in the house or yard. Highly recommend especially at this price point. Internet service is 200MBPS and I have 2-8 devices connected to it at any given time. Hope this helps someone save a buck and pick a, in my opinion, good router.

My speeds drop and my signal was in somewhere in the garbage. Buttt after doing some research I figured I’d try a new router and possible solve my problems. I am on a budget with a child on the way so finding the a router with a good price tag was important. After many clicks and and many forums I finally came to the conclusion to buy the NIGHTHAWK (R7000. After the super easy installation I found that my speeds were back and I could finally game and have multiple devices running again. Now I’m more excited then ever to come home and relax with my wife with no internet stress on my shoulders. Thank you all so much :)

I have the same devices on it as I did my xfinity router the only difference is it’s not trying to go out just from opening a game on 3 PS4’s. I also use the armor feature that helps prevent DDOSing and unwanted hackers getting into things. I absolutely love how it’s able to monitor so many things at once and help give me complete control over my internet. You can use guest mode to allow guests access to your WiFi but also have them unable to access your connected devices. You also can help monitor what you’re kids can and cannot do while also setting alloyed internet screen time through the Netgear Nighthwak app. It’s simple to use and gives me complete access to every device, internet speed test, Netgear armor, access anywhere, internet traffic meter, and even total control over what is on 2.5G and 5G or automate it.

BUT it definitely came in handy when I had a LAN party at my house and needed a switch for a bit.

I had to call in a technician to see what the issue was and then correct it. That is the only problem I've had with it over the last few years, so a solid product.

This has happened every day I’ve owned the router. As I work remotely, this has caused me to miss one meeting altogether and was late to another while troubleshooting. Google searches show this as common. This has already required more resetting and patience than 3 years of my ISPs router. The trade off is I have more range and speed at the cost of instability.

One for upstairs then downstairs. I will say very good at handling traffic on multiple wireless devices. However configuring them as access points is probably better with certain types of ATT modem combos. You can find a lot of tech advice to make them work for your personal home setups. Overall I’m looking forward to an upgraded set of routers soon, these nighthawks still perform very well.

My previous modem and router were several years older than this one so I was anticipating better and more consistent connectivity with this unit. However, that has not yet been realized. I don’t know the reason. I received on-site support from my ISP technician who tested incoming signal strength, signal to and through the Netgear cable modem, and who installed and setup the router. Together we tested the network performance before he left my house. But since he left (it’s been a couple weeks my internet connection has been slow and inconsistent. Definitely there has been no improvement over my previous equipment and I am considering restoring my setup to its previous configuration as a way to test and troubleshoot the problems.

A tech geek I know and trust recommended this one to me as one they used for their home network. It was a good recommendation. Networking is not one of my strengths, but the mobile app made setup so easy. I've been really happy with how easy it was to install and connect, and with how well it's working. My network is faster and this router helps me get all the benefits of that plus WiFi that is more reliable and more stable.

Took some teething issues to set up as configuration is not always automatic especially with fiber optic modems but with help from Netgear and some knowledge of networking the puzzle can be solved. Happy it is working smoothly now.

I get notifications when I new device connects to my network, and I can control them. There is parental control too. I can test the speed and also see how much data I am using. The best feature for me it’s I can access the router remotely, when I am not at home! No complain so far. It comes with a trial for a antivirus for your devices and also a protection system for the router as well, which is the reason I bought this router, to have more security. Netgear partner with Bitdefender to give you also the best cyber security in the market now. I downloaded both programs that came with the router. I downloaded them on my phone and laptop too, and they don’t make them slower as my previous mcafee did. Even with the VPN on. My devices working perfectly and protected. The best, it didn’t require your cc info for trial! But I will definitely buy them when the trial is over. I am happy with my experience so far an I recommend this router to everyone.

It served its purpose well until I recently purchased a wireless outdoor security system. It was out of the range of this router. So I purchased an upgrade of the same router (AC2400). So far the upgrade is good.

My internet connection just dropped out like most of the other comments and I cannot get it working again. Im sure below this there will be a customer support that says to visit their website like all the other comments. I have gone through every support steps on there and none of which seem to be resolving the issue. Now I need to go buy a new router and will not be going through this company again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great for a few years I've had this R7000 for a few years now. It now is showing it's age, or hackers are getting better. Mine is about 5 years old now, and I shut it down overnight to give it a break with an IP power switch. For best performance, I have to do a monthly factory reset. If I don't, web page requests are slow to load on any browser and it seems to have less range. To be fair, it was extremely fast for the first 3-4 years from new. In my experience of 20 or so years of owning different routers, this has been the best. The worst was DLink, perhaps they are better now. I would buy this again, but I would not buy the new version for $700,aint gonna happen! Overall, I think routers in general, such as consumer routers wear out over time. They all seem to get tired after a few years, this one is no exception, it just lasted the longest of any router I've owned.

We have a very large home and it covers most of it very well including part of our front yard and our deck. We did have to install two extenders to obtain consistent coverage on the second floor and in the basement. We have many devices running on WiFi and it seems to handle all of them well. I am very happy with its performance. I would highly recommend it.

Roku, Alexa, Kindle, Epson printer, thermostat, Nixplay picture frame and Samsung TV (wired all remain connected. Only fix is to reboot...BS; this should not be necessary on a daily basis.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Glad I Stopped Renting from my ISP So far I’ve had minimal issues with my new router. Set up was easy, connecting and managing devices is easy, and the app takes that ease a step further. The only issues I’ve run into so far is the connecting pausing when connecting new devices, and the speed bottlenecking at certain times of day (which I think is actually my ISP, but I plan on solving that today. All in all, I’m glad I made the purchase and would happy recommend this router to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Got this to replace Spectrum router which did not give me the capability to choose which band, 2.4 or 5g, so that my TV would stream better. The install was very easy and renaming my networks was also very easy. I am not a super “techie” guy, so this was right up my alley. Good range as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New Install My old router died and I purchased this one and it was easy to set up and even eliminated the need for a access point which I needed for the old one. All devices connected fast and there is no lag on any devices or streams.

Kept saying can’t join network after rebooting several times waited for customer service on the phone for over 30 minutes and then he stopped talking and seemed like he disappeared. I was nothing but nice but now i’m very angry and disappointing considering how much i paid

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great I previously purchased a tp-link router with similar specs but was unhappy with the slow internet speeds at night. As soon as I switched to the NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1900 my wifi signal was significantly stronger and could stretched much further throughout my house.

I called with help for password reset and they said they could not help me unless I purchased a Technical Support Plan from them. Anything outside of 90 days - even questions - have to have a Support Plan. Would not recommend this product.

You can have it decide what devices to run at 2.4 or 5.0 ghz or you can do it manually. Set up is easy and router looks great next to every electronic device. All around great product!!!

I'm to the point where my mind has been so bombarded with advertisements everywhere I turn that I no longer pay attention or believe any of them.

It allows you to create new passwords on the go, change your network name, decline access of any devices that are unwanted, at a moments notice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nothing but problems I bought this router during the pandemic as my wife and I are both working remotely. It has had moments of stability, but the router will randomly reboot itself daily, leaving us without internet connection. Additionally, at times when it doesn’t reset, it will appear to be in working order and then won’t be delivering any signal and I then have to unplug it and plug it back in. If these were issues that cropped up occasionally it would be a big deal, but this is a daily issue and we shouldn’t have to constantly worry about our internet dropping. It affects both our work and our leisure time streaming tv shows, and for the money we paid for this product we would assume better quality. Wish I had never bought this product, as it is just a frustrating piece of junk at this point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have had this for about 8 years, it still rocks. I have had this for about 8 years. I have a 3 story house at about 4500 sqft. This works great in 5g all over the house. I have two rooms that are topping out at about 30 mbps, but the rest are all over 100. (We pay for 200). It is placed in the middle floor, and above it and below are well over 100. We tried the eero system to try to get those two rooms higher, and it actually lowered more rooms then it raised. We used the 3 beacon system. We went back to the nighthawk and it is much faster.
