Thankfully I caught one that gave the advice to not use the quick start directions (took a screen shot of it!) (thanks dude!!) as you'd spend all day banging your head. Make a Netgear account and first and go to the website via your phone to (nighthawk app) to set up. Took 10 minutes instead of an hour. Works great extending my internet. First time I've gotten one of these things to work!

But you can unplug it and move it to the room you need better speed. But it does make you feel like you need one in every room of the house.

This netgear 4 was life changing! Super easy to set up and fast. The mobile app walks you through all the steps and in about 10 minutes I had strong wifi throughout my entire house. Having thick concrete walls used to be a major issue, but this has dissolved any problems at a reasonable cost. Was able to to connect to my existing modem router combo.

I found this one on Amazon for a reasonable price, and decided to take a chance on it. Holy smokes! Set-up and configuration was super-easy, and now I have all the coverage I need. Not to mention that this extender is extremely reliable. Highly recommended!

Before we installed it we had 2 regular extenders that did little - there were daily issues of slow internet and video calls were getting dropped. The mesh extender cost more but completely upped our download speeds from 20mbps to over 300mbps and since installing it 2 weeks ago I have not had a single dropped call or internet issue. The device was easy to install operate. A full 5 stars

We have a really high speed through our provider and we are in a 2 story 1000 Sq ft townhouse and somehow we lacked speed downstairs despite a strong signal. Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works well enough for some My honest opinion is that it works as a quick and cheaper alternative than buying multiple mesh systems. I bought only one which works but it does have Wi-Fi signal degradation. My current plan is 300 mbps from my Internet provider. If I am within 50 feet from my Wi-Fi router which is upstairs, I get close to 300 mbps. My mesh extender is downstairs and can extend my Wi-Fi into my backyard and reach around 100 mbps. That’s not bad because before I was only getting around 15 Mbps in the backyard. This mesh extender works, but realize you are only going to get only about 1/3 of what you’re paying from your internet service provider. If that’s sufficient you won’t be disappointed.

There’s also a tool on the app that shows you your wifi speed and upload power. Over all this product is solid and I would recommend it.

As a result, there was barely a signal for 5GHz at the far end of the house and only a smidge better of 2.4GHz. After installation of the AX1800 WiFi Mesh Extender at the far side of the house, there is now full strength 5GHz EVERYWHERE, even in the basement. Now if I could just improve my cell signal...lol

I placed the EAX15 at the end of the signal and WHAM, full 5G EVERYWHERE, even down into the basement and it extends 250' outside the house as well. Easy to install with the Nighthawk app, it's a great investment to boost your signal where you need it!

My phone showed me the option of linking to the extender or the base. I was expecting devices to link to the strongest signal. I need to call Tech Help for advise.

My devices still didn’t automatically connect to best signal. Tried to remove one but app would NOT allow me to log in as admin if the user name was not just admin! Did a factory reset, only setup one router and left admin user name as admin. Signal is now good throughout entire 3 story 3,000 SqFt.

As soon as I fire up the extender, I get 250mbps in the exact location. I wanted the extender for the far corner of my house. But if it slows my bandwidth where I get 700 without it. Screw that it's getting sent back

I work from home which requires them to be hardwired so for a year I have Been tripping over a 125 ft Ethernet cord from the living room to my upstairs office. when I got a second remote job I would have had kept switching cord between computers. I thought about installing a Ethernet jack but that would destroy my walls, someone told me about extenders, I got the info from Best Buy what I needed to buy to go with my cable modem, found the exact same one at Amazon saved half the cost and it all works no more tripping over cords.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Game-changer for online students with wifi problems I rarely leave reviews but as a graduate student who’s classes are online and who does not have major cash flow for major tech improvements - this Wifi 6 Mesh extender has been a game changer and online students should look no further (note for students: you may qualify for student discount so do your homework) I’ve had it for almost 1 month so it’s given me time to notice improvements before/after purchase. Prior to purchase - I had issues with multiple internet disconnects throughout the day, major lagging, and just overall delays and issues. It became very problematic when the wifi would suddenly disconnect on my laptop while taking an exam for class. All the issues I had prior to the extender are no longer factors. My husband also benefits from it a lot when it comes to his video games (not much a benefit for me though). The only issue I had was the installation process. I had some difficulties connecting the wifi to my router but this could’ve just been a me problem and not the product. Hope this helps

The directions tell you to plug into the extender and connect to its LAN. Then it tells you to sign into NetGear, but you can't because the LAN has no internet connection. So you must call to get it set up. But my rep, Robert, was excellent. 2.) Though the range is greatly extended, it sometimes confuses the router and takes a couple minutes to connect. Other than that, the benefits of this router far outweigh the two small inconveniences. I recommend this product.

Due to some structural complications with my old home, I have difficulty getting any Wi-Fi to certain parts of the house. I was able to utilize a mesh system (one on each floor) to fix this, however half the kitchen, as well as the backyard and garage were a poor signal at best. The AX1800, with a simple click of my WPS, synced with my mesh router, maintaining the same SSID, allowing me for the first time in many years, to enjoy internet in the rear of my house. The signal is strong and consistent, and because it shares the same SSID, I can move seamlessly from yard to kitchen, bedroom, etc., without awkward disconnect/reconnect issues. The product depth easily fits discretely behind a wheeled wooden cabinet, with no cost to signal strength. Got this at a great price during a site promo, and my only regret is that I had not looked into this solution sooner.

A salesman at Staples recommended this Netdear product, but we were skeptical and purchased it anyway. The best $$ we spent, as we merely plugged the unit in closer to the weak speed areas, and the speed went up by 10-fold. Great product, great value! Netgear to the rescue!

The only reason for 4 vs 5 stars is the marketing and User Manual, neither of which make it completely clear that you can connect a device to this extender and your network using an ethernet cable from the device to the extender's Ethernet port. It took two calls to NETGEAR tech support to confirm this information / understanding. As extensive as the User Manual is (like all NETGEAR user manuals), it would be easy to include and clearly explain this capability in the manual.

It was suggested I buy a name-brand extender, and in particular a mesh extender. This Netgear device was simple to install, no cords cables or wires, and most importantly SOLVED the TV freezing problem, AND gave me a stronger wifi signal throughout my house! Definitely recommend!

I have two AX1800's set up in places that need ethernet, using the gigabit port on the side to POE switches. Everything just works, as if it were wired up.

Set up was helped greatly by the calling the 24 hr help line. Joe was very knowledgeable and made sure that it was working properly by sticking with a non tech savy consumer. The help line made all the difference in the world making sure the unit was set up properly. I was just as impressed with the help line as I am with the extender.

I have Ring cameras on the house and needed an extender because my Netgear router is on the opposite side of the house of the cameras. I already had 1 extender, so I added this one in my garage. And to see my wifi signal really increased and now when I click on my cameras in the Ring app, there is little to no buffering.

These resources often buffered and required refreshing or restarting constantly - what a nuisance! My router is downstairs, so not providing a strong frequency throughout the house. I bought a cheap extender which didn’t resolve the issue and it felt hot to the touch after plugging it in, so I got a replacement and experienced the same thing. It was then that I realized I needed a quality WiFi extender, so I bought NETGEAR 4-Stream AX1800 WiFi 6 Mesh Extender (EAX15). After downloading the app, it was effortless to connect. In minutes, my WiFi was full bars in every room of my house! I positioned it in the upstairs hallway mid-way between the router and the room with dead space and guess what? No more dead space! It worked miracles. Before we installed it we had 2 regular extenders that did little - there were daily issues of slow internet and video calls were getting dropped. The mesh extender cost more but completely upped our download speeds from 20mbps to over 300mbps and since installing it 2 weeks ago I have not had a single dropped call or internet issue. The device was easy to install operate. A full 5 stars

Set up was literally a few minutes and the speeds are blazing fast. I use it to stream movies and stream games on the PS5, and now playing Fallout 76 in the Steam Deck with almost no latency in the farthest side of the house away from the main Router.

If you aren't at least a bit techy, it may be difficult to sync and set up where you need it. That being said, once set, it works great! I have it bridging between two homes that are about 200 ft apart and the signal is great in the bungalow. Great buy, just be sure to get help if you're not comfortable with technology.

It would power on but then nothing because it would not set up the required NETGEAR network. I exchanged that one for another one, same model, at Best Buy. That second one set up just as the directions said it would. It has a very steady and strong signal, much better than the LinkSys model that had worked for us for 8 months before it stopped working.

Speedy, it was through the doors and around the corners of our condo. The router here is from Xfinity, but that made no difference. (It is not even WIFI 4). I bought the WiFi6 extender as the beginning of upgrading all our equipment. By the way, I have continuously ignored reviewers who downrated Netgear.

Due to the steel beam that runs horizontally through the main floor the signal strength is degraded. The repeater was installed on the main level's central hall way, approx 25' and one floor from the main WiFi level. Results are 100-200% signal strength improvement on the main and top floor levels. Wife is now happy and as everyone knows a happy wife means a happy life for all involved. :)

He usually gets 60 - 90 mbs download speed but after buying this router he gets upwards of 400 mbs. When Extender was unplugged, the cameras would reconnect to the Home Wifi system, albeit with a poor connection -- which is why I originally purchased the extender. With the extender plugged in and connected to the Home Wifi, those cameras would connect to it and loose connection with Ring Dashboard system.

Not noticeable unless we were streaming TV, then the lag became noticeable. Installed the Netgear AX 1800 about halfway between the furthest TV and the router, in a spot barely seen. Installation was a basic 1,2,3 and because it’s a Mesh system, our devices don’t have to reconnect to a different wi-fi source when out of range of the router. The extender also improved the response of all our internet connected security and home management devices. Highly recommend this unit at an affordable price.

Devices are connected to the AX1800 on both the 2.4 & 5 GHZ bands. I can't find any documentation as to why this was configured this way, and how to change the uplink to my router to the 5GHZ band. Any documentation on this Netgear?

Running at 1190 GPS. Just right for my house where I have a 55 inch vizio tv and my klipsch cinema 800 3.1 connected together. I have 30 plus electronics that run together with my wifi system and this does the job.

I was on the phone with Custumer support for over an hour since the app continued to crash and would not let me finish setup. I spoke with 5-6 people ( no exaggeration) who did not know/ have experience with working with a mesh router. It was awful. The last guy was a semi help , we basically taught each other how it works. That being said, currently it’s working well. I have signal reaching my garage which is all I needed it for. I gave it a 4 because the product is good, just beginning to use it was a pain. Hope this helps.

I purchased this because my upstairs TV, with which I am using a Firestick for streaming, would constantly stop while buffering and, on occasion, would boot me out of a streaming app. I updated the firmware on the Fire stick and the TV. No improvement. I purchased this extender and set it up. It not only stopped the buffering issue and the booting out but everything works Much faster. I wish I had done this much sooner.

The internet provider put the router in the lower level and the distance to the top story is just too far to get a consistent signal. In my room that is directly above the receives download speeds of about 280mbps which is not bad and about 50mbps faster than before, but I was expecting something in the 400 range.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolute waste of time. I wish I could give this product zero stars. I purchased this mesh extender with hopes to get better service in the front rooms of my house. Instead, I spent 2-3 hours unplugging, plugging, factory resetting my modem/router. I found others who had problems with the extender actually connecting to the router (I have an AC1900) and they had the same exact issue. I followed step by step instructions that NETGEAR gave those consumers and still nothing. I decided after hours of trying and pure frustration that I was done and this product would be going back. The best part is that now my wifi internet from router is not working for most items in my house (both smart phones, google nest, etc.). The devices now tell me my wifi password is incorrect while other devices connect with the same password. I did the factory reset on the router so I know the password is correct because it is listed on the router. It doesn't help that the product comes with no troubleshooting help and you have to google to find answers. I would say the worst tech product I have ever bought. I would seriously good reviews on other sites to see a lot for similar experiences.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dead on Arrival I bought the unite today 11/28/2020 from BestBuy to push out the range of my RAX 120 Nigh Hawk Router, however after plugging the unit into the wall out. The red light never changed from Red to Green to allow set up. I tried several different outlets with the same result. I followed Netgear's instructions on doing a hard reset of the unit and still nothing. I guess quality control has gone right out the window with Netgear which I find very sad as I am very loyal to the brand. I am not writing Netgear off yet, I will return this unite tomorrow for another and hope that unite actually powers on. Should that unite be a bust as well then I guess it's time to look at other companies going forward for routers and extenders.

The Nighthawk app shows I have twelve(12 or more devices that is covered and all devices have a strong wifi signal. Rated 5 out of 5 by from The only answer is WOW! This is the fourth try with extenders from different manufacturers. Needless to say, the other three were complete and utterly failures due to the way they configure their extenders, how the extender connects wirelessly to your router, how they complicate the configuration (DHCP, MAC filtering, bands, failure to connect right next to your router… see where I am going? Purchased this EAX15 directly from Netgear, avoided doing it at a store because there is this money back guarantee from Netgear and free shipping, so what we had to lose?, configuration time? - Use Needed to cover the other half of the house to have better coverage for several devices that needed an RSSI better than 59. - Configuration Not overpowering with menus and this and that. Simple interface to what you really need: connect and extend. Look at this as another device connected to your router, obeying the rules and security of your router (Password Key, Security type, DHCP, MAC filtering, bands, etc.). Once connected to the router it can propel your signal forward to blanket the area that needed a strong constant signal. - Cool thing about it You can choose to extend it using the same SSID/naming of your router so all devices can roam around (mesh), or assign a different SSID to that sector thus allowing only those devices to use your extender. We chose the latter, assigned a different SSID. And here comes the WOW, we found in the configuration this FastLane Technology that gives you the choice to simply extend both bands (2.4 and 5GHz) for the simplistic users, or the other cool one where you connect the AX15 to the best (less contaminated) band like 5GHz, to then extend the 2.4GHz to the sector and devices that need it. And boom! It worked flawlessly, all devices in that half of the house have a cool RSSI of 50 or less. Plugged it to the wall 2 weeks ago and simply forgot about it like my own router. That is how a Wifi extender should work! - App Not impressive at all and forces you to be connected to the same SSID of the extender, totally unnecessary, could be done by IP address instead, like you access it with a browser, right Netgear?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worst Netgear product I have ever owned I bought the AX1800 from Netgear a week ago. I will not link to my Netgear RAX40 not matter which method from Netgear that I try. When you reach the point where is should be linked to the router, I get no link light and the power light goes from green to amber which is an indication of the extender reseting. I have contacted Netgear support over 3 days ago and have not gotten any response. I would love to return this extender for a refund.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product with a few firmware update glitches I purchased this product to help with weak signal in one area of my 5000 square foot rambler. It boosted the signal well enough that I no longer have connections issues in that area and I can stream 4K content flawlessly. Only downside was updating the firmware from my mobile iOS device using the Nighthawk app. The app said it successfully updated, but every time I went back into the mobile app, it still reported out of date. I called support and they placed me on hold for 30 minutes. While waiting, I unplugged the unit and plugged it back in and eventually got it to update on my own.

If you need super range of signal I would look at netgear’s higher price models. It is relatively small and plugs in without wires going everywhere. That is , it is unobtrusive which is a good thing.

This is the area I stream music while on the treadmill. I went back to the store where I purchased the router and the clerk suggested I try the extender before purchasing a different (much more costly router. I am totally satisfied with this decision. I am 68 years old and not at all familiar with high tech products. This extender was a breeze to set up. I downloaded the app, followed the instructions and within minutes it was working great!

Our last extender did an ok job but we thought we could do better. The Netgear we bought is far superior to our last one. And the one thing we really love is that it’s seamless. Have a screened in porch and was having problems with WIFI signal for my devices and smart TV. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Junk! Support totally sucks! Just about every other week I have to reset this and start setup from scratch. And the app you can download to use in your phone to monitor it? Another waste! This device keeps dropping off 5g signal and forcing everything to run on 2.4g so you reset it and reconfigure and get it back and then it doesn’t stay configured. The app loses your password and settings and sometimes even your router and then screws the whole thing up to where you have to do a factory reset and once again start a new setup from scratch. Worst 130 bucks I spent! Sad part is it actually did work great for like two months and then once the warranty is gone you’re on your own. The phone app sucks just as bad! And forget about using the app to contact anyone bc once your so called warranty time is expired forget it you’re on your own.

After using the extender we have full coverage with three bars every where. It was super easy to install cause you only need to use the app. Our only issue was going in between the router and extender would cause your device to lag or bug out any streaming service being used because it’s switching between the two access points. Our router is located on a different floor and opposite end of the house so it usually runs slower in the office where I work. I needed the speed to be quicker so I could get my work done faster. The Nighthawk wifi keeps going down randomly, but the LAN still works. Well, when I set these up and connected them to the Nighthawk, it just dies. Pretty much useless.

Being 80 I was not familiar with connecting these things, but the technician at netgear made it simple and everything including my solar is on board. Thank you and your tech for the help.

All other devices that are in a reasonable distance to the router work great. Each time this scenario happens I open the NightHawk app to see what's going on and get the great message of "We can't find you Router". I could click Reconnect as many times as I would like and it would never find it. Multiple times I have had to reset the device to get it to function again. It will work for a night then after some time away from my computer we are back to the same, non-functioning, state. Would not recommend this product.

This netgear WiFi extender works so much better and was installed soooo quick and easy. The old one took about an hour back then, as it would have issues connecting to the main home WiFi. Needless to say we are very happy with our purchase and wish we would have bought a netgear one from the beginning. Lesson learned ??

Put this extender in the bedroom next to hers and now she gets 3-4 bars of wifi signal. Pros: it wasn't too difficult to set up, took about half an hour. Uses the same wifi network name as the router, so phones switch from one to the other seamlessly as they move though the house. Cons: Came with no manual or instructions, you have to install an app on your phone to set it up, you have to create a Netgear account to use the app and you have to come up with two passwords (one for the Netgear account and one for the extender's admin login). Just what I needed, two more accounts and passwords to keep track of.

Configuration has been difficult, the app versus the web software don’t seem to be compatible with each other, things work at the time, and don’t others. I was on hold for 45 minutes with the tech support team, but finally was able to get phone assistance. I had followed the online instructions, but the wifi was still not connected until the tech support person walked me through the last step. If the final steps had been included in the written instructions on the website, that would have been helpful. However, once the extender was installed, it has worked perfectly from that time, and I hope that continues to be the case.

Only notice an issue when gaming on the computer while streaming, does slow a little bit but still pretty good considering router distance.

Unfortunately they had to backdoor it for it t ok work so now my application shows it as none working product even though it was manually installed. I do believe the tech did good but not sure I'm get the best and the right ports or signal that is to be used.

Awesome Extender I live in a separate Basement Apt where the wifi has always been spotty because the internet is provided through my landlord who lives upstairs and the router is placed upstairs. The best speed I’d get was around 40 mbps and only in the far corner of my apartment. Now after installing my new netgear extender, I’m consistently pulling speeds of 100mbps all through by apt across multiple devices. This little extender is worth all the money and I wish I would have bought it sooner.

However, with the demands on the WiFi with working from home and home schooling, the back of the house was seeing slower pickup as it had to go through the kitchen and our bedroom to get the signal. Adding this extender did the trick. This is why love Netgear products.

I plugged my pc into the ethernet port on the side and I was running with as fast an internet speed as I have ever had. I highly recommend this Extender as long as one ethernet port works for you. The wifi is powerful enough to spread the signal from one end to the other end of my 1600 sqft home, I even got great signal outside way far from my router. Good Product from NETGEAR.

Sometime this year family members started complaining of connections. sometimes not all the lights are initialized. There were some issues connecting the ring camera last month. Moved the router up to another floor (multi-level condo). Son is still having laptop issues. Now we moved the extender directly into his room. Still having issues. Now trying to read Netgear's directions & suggestions, thinking I should have looked at a few brands. Will keep trying & then reach out to company for guidance. Might still have some type of warranty. Plus I have a whole house warranty i recently purchased through my cell phone provider.

The new AX1800 connects well with my Cox cable Panoramic (WiFi 6) modem. I have the AX1800 plugged in about 25-30 ft from the Panoramic and the extender provides strong signal throughout the house including upstairs bedroom. I was also curious if the AC1200 would still work on the same network, which it does. I think Netgear got everything right with the AX1800, including ease of setup.

So far working exactly how we needed. Easy set up and everyone kept the current login info. So far so GREAT!

When I finally set it up I regretted not making the time to accomplish the task. The set up took less than 15 minutes and I immediately noticed the changes in the WiFi speed on the second floor of my house. I definitely recommend purchasing the NETGEAR 4 WiFi extender.

I couldn't connect using the Nighthawk app suggested on the Quick Connect card enclosed, but rather connected directly from the wifi setup on my phone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keeps disconnecting When it works, everything is good, when it works. I've had this for 2 weeks now and it keeps disconnecting itself every day or two. Set up was a huge pain in the butt. I finally reached customer support, which did help, but was extremely frustrating. First, the customer support rep was extremely hard to understand because of their dialect/accent. Second, the background noise in the call center was horrendous. Combine those two issues on top of already being frustrated that the extender was having issue with setup and it makes for a not so pleasant experience. Even after customer support was able to assist with setup, The very next day I had to do a factory reset on the extender because it wouldn't connect. Now, it just keeps disconnecting every 1-2 days, but at least I can just unplug and plug it back in to reconnect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Netgear 4-Stream AX1800 I needed a wifi connection for my older desktop in my new office. There were not any adapters for Windows 7 that would give me WiFi 6 capabilities. I bought the Netgear AX1800 which synced easily with my Spectrum WiFi router and had a port to directly connect to my computer. Setup was fairly easy on the Nighthawk android app and I followed the instructions until the setup was complete. I did an internet speed test and was pleased to get 230 Mbs download and 20 Mbs upload speeds. Not bad at all and the price was very reasonable. Also extended my WiFi coverage to the rear of my house and on my patio outside as well. Very pleased with the results.
