I was suggested to purchase my own, in which I did and it was the best decision in doing so. When I asked a close friend if buying a NETGEAR was a good choice, she has one for over 2 years and has been very happy with her purchase with no issues. I have informed other friends and family members that if they have a monthly charge for a WiFi cable modem router they should do as I did, buy a NETGEAR AC1200.

Because I needed a router for work in the next day, I had to buy a much more expensive one that was physically in store near me because I didn’t have time to wait for a replacement. I didn’t buy another NETGEAR.

I'm much happier owning this than renting from Comcast on a monthly basis. This device is durable, too. I knocked it off the side table that it's on, not once or twice but three times (the coax input in my new apartment is in an awkward spot and my coax cable is ridiculously short so I've tripped over it several times sending the modem/router crashing onto my hardwood floor). Despite the side popping off and the buttons being out of place, I was able to easily put everything back into place and I never lost my internet signal even for a moment.

They guaranteed me they would get it to work if I paid $49.99 so I’m disputing that charge with my credit card company.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Couldnt get it to work. I bought the Netgear at walmart. Found it on clearance. Was so excited! Got home noticed there was no etherent in the box, was a little suspicious. I then tried to set it up a few times though the xfinity app. Just couldnt do it. Mind you it takes 11 minutes to try and connect to the modem. I tried like 6 times. I called netgear and went through some steps with them and still nothing. I was told to call xfinity. I called the next day and after another hour of sending signals, it didnt work. Was told to call netgear again. I then called and was telling the lady what lights were in on the modem and one was the dowmstream light, blinking in rythm. She said aaaa, it is not connected correctly to the coaxe or the port is bad. I new the coaxw was goos because i was upgrading the modem. So i had to return it again to walmart. Long story short, dont by electronics in the clearance section at Walmart!

Once a salesperson left it slip that I could buy my own, instead of renting a used modem,...it was a win win situation for me. Why throw money, fees and taxes to anything else that you can own? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tough Setup, poor support I was able to easily connect the cable modem to my desktop PC via LAN cable. Xfinity was able to activate it and my PC worked fine. The wifi did not connect to the internet, however. It took two long calls to support to get it working. The 1st guy was not on the right track. The 2nd guy knew what he was doing. Too much effort for such a simple tasl. The NightHawk app did not work either ran in a loop. The support had to activate it manually.

The store clerk recommended Netgear, so I purchased it without having time to consider. I brought it home, was able to connect and it works great. It's only been a few weeks but no issues.

My son who is on the spectrum get upset because when he is using his ipad it will just disconnect from the wifi for no reason. To correct the issue I have to go into his settings and select the wifi again and then it will work and sometimes it wont even show up when looking for the network. Frustrating at the least. We have moved the router and it still has a problem staying connected and our house is only 950 square feet so there should be no reason this is happening. Very disappointing.

Once I got the correct app, everything went smoothly. It’s been installed about a week and I’ve been kicked off only one time. Access was quickly granted once I entered Wi-Fi password. This equipment is so much faster than my ancient modem.

I activated my internet services online, I didn’t have to call, and Xfinity service picked up the modem right away and it displayed on my account. We have connected a bunch of devices wirelessly and plugged in ethernet, and everything has been working quickly and no issues. The Wi-Fi signal is strong even upstairs. I easily programmed the router and changed settings to my preference.

However, during setup I had difficulty connecting to the WiFi network (default SSID for the router.) The reason is you need to physically press a button near the top of the device to turn on WiFi. WiFi is not enabled by default... why, I cannot explain since this is a WiFi cable modem. Once you press the button to enable WiFi, the rest of the setup is easy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Learned my lesson For the last 7 months I have been duped by my ISP for $15 a month rental charge on their cable modem after they convinced me that my own modem would cost close to $300 if I were to go out and purchase it so I never even checked one out, last week I was in Walmart and noticed they had the AC 1200 Wi-Fi cable modem router on sale for $75 this modem outperforms the one that I was renting by triple the speed and excellent customer service after my ISP tried to connect this modem for 2 hours they couldn't do it one call in less than 5 minutes the customer service at Netgear had this modem up and running along with a Netgear app on my Android phone that is really cool, this modem will pay for itself in 5 months and I will recommend it to anyone needing a Wi-Fi cable modem, I don't like to admit it but Netgear has taught me a lesson thank you.

The only drawback is that it gets very hot. You can clearly feel the heat raising from the vents. This is basic modem, not a toaster. Guess what that advice paid off and I was able to get my speed more than 300 mbps and no connection drop further. Single device (modem router and takes hardly any space. Very happy with decision and purchase.

Setup was easy and service is great throughout the entire house across multiple devices. Only downside is every couple days, I have to reset the modem/router when internet is unresponsive but that could be more to do with the provider and our location. Immediately after reset, service is back to normal, speedy self.

I was a little concerned after the Amazon delivery guy “tossed” it over our privacy fence — but happily it is working great and gets the same speed as the xfinity rental modem it replaced. Easy to install with phone apps to assist. Very happy with purchase and it will pay for itself in rental savings in about 4-5 months.

I live in a small room, and this unit can rais the room temperature by up to 10 degrees farenheit. Its only a problem for me as i have no ac. Second issue, tbere is only 2 rj45 ports (ethernet ports) and i hardwire multiple devices, so i can either only plug in 2 devices, or buy a seperate network switch to add 16 ports

Even for a non-technical person, the setup was simple and straightforward. The connection was quick and dependable once I got it going. Without any latency or buffering, I've been able to stream videos, play online games, and surf the internet. Also particularly impressive is the range. Despite the fact that my flat is very tiny, I have no trouble connecting to the Wi-Fi from any room. I also value the security features since they make me feel at ease while I browse the web.

I manually had to link the modem to Xfinity for the wifi part- easier to find thru Google search. My internet is now connected to by cable for work and wifi to my phone, security cameras and Fire TV and Firestick TV. I am very happy with my fully functioning fast internet! Great modem!!!

Setting it up with my service provider was straightforward after going through the steps the app tells you. It takes a bit to boot up but now it’s running great and I have had no issues with it at all. The range is great as well but I don’t live in a house so I don’t know about larger ranges. Overall it’s a good product for its price.

The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 is because occasionally it won’t let my phone connect over wifi, even though the internet is still working on all other devices. A quick reset fixes the problem, but it is still annoying when it happens. Otherwise it has provided steady internet with no problems.

Still have issue. I’m not sure why. I have good WI-FI, on phone, But.. it don’t reach far as I thought it would. :( . I am thinking of switching back to my Xfinity modem/router. I don’t know !!

It can receive up to 300 Mbps which gives great flexibility for upgrading internet plans. I received it, installed it, ran into a problem but calling Netgear 1x solved the issue. So far, no crashes. In the manual they have not even mentioned about the Nighthawk app, rather mentioned about a url which does not even work. Downloading the Nighthawk app will save your time.

Often times I am standing within 10 feet of the Wi-Fi and cannot get it to connect. For the price paid I am so disappointed that this is so difficult to use. The only reason I purchased it is because of the 2.4 gigahertz has my cable company went to 5G only and I cannot longer hook up most of my small home appliances.

We received it very quickly and the fine folks at Netgear helped us finally get it setup correctly. They really went above and beyond to make sure things were right before we hung up the phone with them. It was nice to have such a good experience in a day of little to no customer service. Rated 5 out of 5 by from NETGEAR AC1200 WiFi Cable Modem Router (C6230) overall performance is looking good however when I bought then I faced issues like I was able to connect network but there was no internet then I reset then my default wifi name got changed and I was unable to connect then I connect to customer support then they assisted me to performed same resets activity 3 time then finally my default wifi name appeared and then I was able to connect so till now I am not facing any other issues and router is working fine. Additional customer support is awesome.

All I had to do is connect the power and the wi-fi cable for it to work. The range of the device is very wide, even when I start driving away, I would still have internet for some time. The speed is the maximum of what my provider gives.

The quick setup instructions seemed off or dated a bit, so I called customer service and was guided through the setup with ease. Called my internet provided to register the codes and then completed setup. The AC1200 is very stable and the Wi-Fi signal is powerful enough to travel to all rooms throughout house. The household is pleased with its performance and its value.

It took around 15 min total to do the transfer over but all seems to work well. The wifi signal doesn't seem to be quite as strong as the Cisco based Xfinity but overall has good coverage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Unit I now have my second Netgear AC1299 WiFi Cable Modem Router (C6230) After 6 Years the first one that I have gave out on me, but gave such great service I replaced it with another model (C 6230) And I feel that this replacement will be a great as the original one. I am very happy with the unit never had a problem with the first one until it just gave out on me one morning. There was not question of me not getting a new one, I did, and am most happy.

I am actually getting about 1 MB/s faster download than my internet plan is supposed to provide, so I'll take it. Time will tell if the product continues to perform at this pace but, as of now, it works perfectly.

On the first call, Rep couldn't resolve the problem. I had disconnected-reconnected co-ax cable and power many times. I even installed Nighthawk APP on the phone to connect the new router with ISP. It didn't work. I called again and spoke to Dave as the router kept getting disconnected. I couldn't change my SSID name and password. After I changed the User name and password, it stopped working the next day. I called again and some with Daksh and Xfinity to resolve this problem. I was able to change my password and connect to the Internet. I was very disappointed that I wanted to return this product. I couldn't do my work because there was no internet. This is my first Netgear purchase, and I had a terrible experience. I won't suggest anyone buy this product. I even asked for extended tech service for this product but Rep denied it.

Since cable had previously been installed, all I had to do was supply the modem. I did some research and found the NETGEAR AC1200 WiFi Cable Modem Router (C6230). I attached it to power and the cable, and used the QR code to download the Nighthawk app to my phone for the rest of the setup. The hardest part was choosing a broadcast name for the WiFi. Then I activated with the cable company. Done!

Second, or third, it would not set it up with the way they were instructing. They told me they could do a remote and they told me it would cost me. So much for the free support. Only once did we have an issue that it kept disconnecting but I don't believe it was the modem/router but probably a service interruption. It does get pretty warm but no more than our last device, which was not Netgear.

I no longer have to have a separate router set up like I did in the past. This modem does run on the warmer side. So far, it’s been working fine. The price was also right, $149.99. I bought it at Best Buy. No need to rent modem from Comcast like they would like you to.

My other Netgear modem/router works fine on the same connection (although it is old now and overheats and cuts out, but I got a good many years out of it) and I worked with my internet provider to update the MAC number and everything so it is not from that end. I talked to customer service at Netgear and they said they could not help me because it has been more than three months, even though I have literally never used it. It definitely appears to be a hardwear problem, which you think would be covered under the 1 year hardware warranty but apparently not. I was happy with my other Netgear product but this customer service experience leaves a bad taste in my mouth, now I need to buy a new modem/router even though the last one never worked?

I first made the mistake of putting it close to some power lines and the signal was disrupted so don't make the same rookie mistake I did. Once I moved it away I got a solid signal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to setup Got this because my ISP supplied Arris died, and I couldn't get the ISP to replace it in a timely manner. This Netgear, was easy to get setup, got my internet working again quickly, and has a much nicer user interface than my old Arris did.

The setup was very easy with the nighthawk app and my internet was up and running within 5-10 minutes! No issues whatsoever and I would definitely recommend Netgear to my friends and family for personal/business use.

You could still switch providers if they don’t work out for you. Customer support is quick to respond and very knowledgeable. Absolutely recommend this product. Easy set up too!

Found the owner of a local computer shop who came to my house and finally got things running but have repeated problems linking to wifi or getting dropped. Don't know if its Comcast or NetGear??

Not as many features and options as the C7000 but pretty close. 4 stars given because of the MANDATORY account creation to get this modem configured. Overall, it does what it needs to.
