Intermittently drops signal. Have checked and double checked settings. Rebooted many times and restarted via xfinity. Happens on both 2.4 and 5, but not always at the same time. Nothing in support seems to help.

Not as many features and options as the C7000 but pretty close. 4 stars given because of the MANDATORY account creation to get this modem configured.

The product is reasonably priced and does what I need.
BUT
The installation was supposed to be a lot easier.
Thank goodness for the support team. Support helped via chat - the rep was patient and very helpful - took a longtime but we sorted out all the issues.
Technology should work out of the box and not require this level of help (I'm reasonably tech savvy).
Bottom line, functional product, good price and great Tech Support

When I bought my Netgear about $138 , after I installed it, I had a connection without internet. Its was a battle of around 8 hrs between the provider Xfinity and the Netgear technical support in order to fix the issue. In fact, the signal was coming through my Netgear but couldn't broadcast to my devices. Chance that Netgear have a 24/7 support, I was able to fix the issue around 3 am . To fix the issue Netgear had to reset the device and run it as admin. I went through the whole process with the support. Now it's working perfectly

This new modem wifi router works like a charm! Once I figured out how to get everything changed over from my xfinity service. That took a while! The directions are clear, up to a point. The trouble is, we dont all work in this industry and dont know all the terms. I finally found a help number to talk to a REAL person. With just a few simple questions, I was good to go.

Actually got this at BestBuy. For a two in one, I didn't have high hopes. This little thing changed my mind! I get signal outside my brick house now, and the full speed I was paying for when I got this and tossed the ISP one on their counter. The ISP modem had me SEVERLY throttled. This one gave me my speed and range back!

The C6230 is both a modem and Wireless appliance. The set up is super easy, but you need a good cell network to download and use the Netgear app. Its particularly good for smaller spaces. We have the lowest internet speeds of 50, even though this modem pulls it in at 60meg. Its suppose to be good up to 200, which is sufficient for most families. And best, its not very expensive

The first week after it was purchased it wasnt working. We could only access just whatsapp internet so we contacted our internet providers who claimed the fault was not from their end. We contacted Netgear and we had to go through some back and forth trying to get it fixed. In the end the back and forth didnt yeild any possitive result. It hectic when you relocate to a new place and the only mean of communicating with others is not working.

The purchase process and delivery through Amazon was fantastic as usual. However, the router was much more difficult to set up compared to the Motorola MG 7315. I did not like having to down load an app on my phone. I do not care what devices are connected to my router. I want simple plug and play.

With the app downloaded, set up was easy and wifi was up within 15 minutes not even. Sometimes service gets a little slow but this is not an issue if you're near the router. All in all, a great purchase!

Though I initially fumbled the install, the modem is a WINNER!!. It took our data rate from 70-85 Mbps to 370 Mbps. using the Spectrum Speed Test site after the install. I could not have been more pleased!! Today's speed, a week later, is 241 Mbps. Could'nt be happer with the results. I do NOT need or want the account, and without the account I could not access the administrator advanced settings in the modem for changing the Wi-Fi SSID and password.

Purchased this router when Xfinity increased my internet bill by 50% for the same speed, with limited alternative options in my area. Setup took ~30 min on the phone with Xfinity, and I was pleasently surprised by how quickly I could speak with a person. So far so good. It works well and happy to not have the exorbitant cable company rental fee on my bill every month. The Netgear AC1200 wifi modem router took time to set up -- not the 5 minutes as stated in the instructions. The Netgear App did NOT work, for this reason I am giving a rating of 3 stars. I am technically savvy but after over an hour of trying to connect I had to call Netgear tech support who were helpful and got everything working. The modem router itself is a nice small size but note it does not have an HDMI plug.

My internet speed and ability to use multiple devices without any loss of speed in other devices has drastically changed since I switched to this modem router. Now I can’t get the TV to consistently play a video or stream Netflix/Hulu without interruptions and the overall picture quality is lousy. I’m highly disappointed as I work from home and I have no other choice because I have to make money to support my family of 5. I paid over $100 for this product and I feel like I got ripped off.

The worst modem I have owned
I bought this about two months ago. The set-up was fairly easy, that's the only good thing I can say about this router. I have to restart it almost daily because it just stops working. The router I had before this one had to be restarted once every 5-6 months at most, unfortunately, it died after 7 years. So I bought the Nighthawk AC1200, this piece of junk is an absolute waste of money. The only place this modem belongs is in the trash!

My modem went out after 7 years, I was frantic as I needed to complete a work project. Ran to Wal Mart and had no clue as to what to purchase. Decided on this product due to my son being on the phone and looking up reviews for me. He told me to purchase what I did, the next hurdle was to install as I have no computer skills. Got home and installed it within minutes. What a relief! I was almost in tears as I was worried I would not be able to do it on my own and still complete my work project. The modem router was easy to set up and and is working well. I have not been able to figure out how to have the WiFi not broadcast the SSID so the signal is not visible to others and I could only get my printer to connect to the 2.4 signal but not the 5.

The product came in a box with three simple items. NETGEAR's modem-router, wi-fi cable, power cable. All I had to do is connect the power and the wi-fi cable for it to work. The range of the device is very wide, even when I start driving away, I would still have internet for some time. The speed is the maximum of what my provider gives.

I had been renting equipment from my internet service provider, but when the fee increased I decided to buy my own router and modem. The NetGear C6230 was highly rated so I found it on Amazon on sale. Great decision since it was very easy to set up and the support I received to set up my

Xfinity Modem Replacement
Very smooth transition from the Xfinity Cisco modem to the Netgear modem. It took around 15 min total to do the transfer over but all seems to work well. The wifi signal doesn't seem to be quite as strong as the Cisco based Xfinity but overall has good coverage.

Great Unit
I now have my second Netgear AC1299 WiFi Cable Modem Router (C6230) After 6 Years the first one that I have gave out on me, but gave such great service I replaced it with another model (C 6230) And I feel that this replacement will be a great as the original one. I am very happy with the unit never had a problem with the first one until it just gave out on me one morning. There was not question of me not getting a new one, I did, and am most happy.

I have had this Modem/Router installed for about two weeks, and it has been running smoothly the whole time. I am actually getting about 1 MB/s faster download than my internet plan is supposed to provide, so I'll take it.
Time will tell if the product continues to perform at this pace but, as of now, it works perfectly.

Despite a very rough experience with my ISP leading to my understanding that I needed a new router, this router has been fantastic once installed. Even though I followed the instructions, I did have difficulty getting the modem to go online. I’m not sure if the error was completely user related or due in part to my house set up or the ISP. Fortunately I was able to speak with someone at netgear to assist without much hassle which adds to why this review gets 5 stars. Fast internet with multiple devices including tv streaming and phone/computer Wi-Fi. You should buy this.

I have no complaints so far. In our house we have MANY devices connected to wifi at all times. Only once did we have an issue that it kept disconnecting but I don't believe it was the modem/router but probably a service interruption. It does get pretty warm but no more than our last device, which was not Netgear.

Honestly, I don’t know how to explain this much easier than it has to be. Read the manual, have your internet service on, use the NETGEAR app. call your provider for re assurance. And trust the process.

Modem Router was defect after only 7 months
After using the modem router for only 7 months, the 5G network became so weak and that cause the internet speed to be very slow. It seemed to be a hardware issue, so I asked for a replacement from netgear.

I am slightly technically impaired. We kicked cable to the curb and just have internet with an antenna for local channels. The hookups were different but with online help, I was able to get it all connected. I have had Netgear equipment for years and find them very reliable!

I think I wasted my money on this router, ever since I stopped using my Xfinity modem/router, and switched to my Netgear Modem/Router I’ve been having lag issues with my one cable box, I’ve refreshed/reboot few times. Still have issue. I’m not sure why. I have good WI-FI, on phone, But.. it don’t reach far as I thought it would. :( . I am thinking of switching back to my Xfinity modem/router. I don’t know !!

Had issues setting up because you need Wifi or LTE to activate the modem, and we live outside of good cell coverage. Once my clunky phone got through it activated easily and works well.

Tired of paying the rental fee for a modem/router through Xfinity/Comcast. This was easy to set up and works fine, I have had no problems with the signal dropping - use a direct ethernet connection with the modem directly near desktop. Husband uses WiFi with his laptop downstairs and did initially had trouble retaining signal but made the main band invisible with Windows 10 and works on the 2nd band.

I can download huge files (1 GB) fairly quickly most days, but sometimes it times out. I had issues with the coaxial cable and again with the modem itself that required multiple resets to get it to work at all. I think if you're not gaming this is a good modem, but as someone who works with large datasets, it is sometimes annoying to me, and I wish it was more consistent.

Nice little modern-router
Once I got everything hooked up and Comcast got their end straightened out (the hardest part) it works like a dream. The range is great for my needs, reaches all over my home. I was frustrated with the cable modem/router that came with my xfinity service so I upgraded. I chose this one because its on the recommended third-party equipment list, it fit my budget and speed requirements, and I have had good results with Netgear in the past. Setup was decent with the Nighthawk app and the xfinity app, takes a bit but it works. Speeds are better too!

Great Modem That Worked Right From The Start
One of the biggest problems with a lot of cable modems is that you never know what you're going to get until you unbox it and plug it in: will it work with your current devices? Will your ISP recognize it? Will it hold a connection? Does the Wi-Fi work? Can you bridge connections? Can you chain routers? Etc., etc., etc.
I've been through quite a few modems over the last ten years, at least six. And I have to say, the Netgear AC1200 has been the easiest to setup and the most comprehensive when it comes to managing it and connecting devices.
Yes, it has been one of the more expensive cable modems I've bought, but the features make it worth it.
One of the best parts about it is that once you hook it up and power it on, you can access the modem remotely from any device connected to the AC1200 either via Wi-Fi or through a router connection.
This is a huge boon, because I've had some modems where you can't access them if you're connected through a separate router connected to the cable modem. Here, it's always accessible and always secure. The setup process is extremely intuitive, as it guides you through the process on setting up the modem for the first time based on your internet provider, but once that's done, there are a lot of great GUI features to make navigating the controls, settings, administration features, and connection rates with ease.
One of the biggest problems I've had with past modems is not being able to limit bandwidth or set rate limits, but with the AC1200 you can schedule access based on time of day (which is great if you have kids that you don't want online past or before a certain time), bandwidth limitations to prevent bandwidth caps from being exceeded, as well as access control, guest control, and even 5G connectivity.
I'm still learning some of the ins and outs of how the modem works, and some of the more advanced settings, but it's been amazing so far and I love its sleek design, quick boot-up times, and expansive user control settings.
Also, being able to hook up multiple routers and bridge connections with nary a hiccup is really why this gets a 5 out of 5 stars.

I was told there would be a series of tubes.
Easy setup once I figured out I had to call the cable internet company to get them to recognize the box on their end. Faster speeds and less signal interference than my old router. It makes the internet happen. Already playing Mortal Kombat with my friend in Vietnam.

Great Modem no issues
Works great, was easy to connect with my spectrum, I also appreciate that Netgear took the time to add in the owner manual the website to active it for Spectrum. Saved me a 30 min wait on hold thru Spectrum. Inexpensive and now I no longer have to pay anything or additional fees for a modem. Thanks Netgear for a great product!

The support people were very good and even followed up, but after more than 12 hours of trying we could not get the modem to work all devices in our home (Roku TV, Cell phones). Our laptops were the only thing that worked. Bought another router modem and was set up in 5 minutes and worked on all devices with no problems.

Placed in Garage bc of 5Ghz. Strong 2.4ghz signals(range) except it always keeps switching between 5G and 2.4 GHz signal. I have a Netgear extender. Setting devices to forget all networks accept the extender seems to help.

Never Worked
I bought this modems and it literally never worked. My other Netgear modem/router works fine on the same connection (although it is old now and overheats and cuts out, but I got a good many years out of it) and I worked with my internet provider to update the MAC number and everything so it is not from that end. I talked to customer service at Netgear and they said they could not help me because it has been more than three months, even though I have literally never used it. It definitely appears to be a hardwear problem, which you think would be covered under the 1 year hardware warranty but apparently not. I was happy with my other Netgear product but this customer service experience leaves a bad taste in my mouth, now I need to buy a new modem/router even though the last one never worked?

Easy set up and a strong signal. I've only had is set up for a few weeks now so hopefully it works just as good in the future. I first made the mistake of putting it close to some power lines and the signal was disrupted so don't make the same rookie mistake I did. Once I moved it away I got a solid signal.

Got this because my ISP supplied Arris died, and I couldn't get the ISP to replace it in a timely manner. This Netgear, was easy to get setup, got my internet working again quickly, and has a much nicer user interface than my old Arris did.

I’ve used netgear’s router in the past and I was excited to see that there was an option of a modem/router combo. Definitely beats paying to rent one from your internet company every single month plus the guarantee that you could still activate it to any provider is great, you’re not stuck with only that one provider since you already bought their $100 something modem/cable router. You could still switch providers if they don’t work out for you. Customer support is quick to respond and very knowledgeable. Absolutely recommend this product. Easy set up too!

I spent a total of 6 hours w/ NetGear and Comcast support staff who tried their best but to no avail. Found the owner of a local computer shop who came to my house and finally got things running but have repeated problems linking to wifi or getting dropped. Don't know if its Comcast or NetGear??

Great modem/router
I recently bought this modem/router combo because I realized I was paying for fast internet and my previous equipment did not support it. Setting it up with my service provider was straightforward after going through the steps the app tells you. It takes a bit to boot up but now it’s running great and I have had no issues with it at all. The range is great as well but I don’t live in a house so I don’t know about larger ranges. Overall it’s a good product for its price.

This modem/router combo is pretty good. It took a bit to connect it at first, but that was more my internet service provider’s fault. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 is because occasionally it won’t let my phone connect over wifi, even though the internet is still working on all other devices. A quick reset fixes the problem, but it is still annoying when it happens. Otherwise it has provided steady internet with no problems.

I had some issues with the installation process and the app and had to call customer service. Customer service was very helpful and got it to work for me. I really like that it’s a modem and router all in one so I don’t have to have 2 boxes. It works good for my 1 bedroom apartment.

I've been using this modem for well over a year now and it just keeps working like it is supposed to. I have used it with Cox and then moved and had to switch to Spectrum. Easy peasy. Definitely better than paying every month for a modem!

Hours on the phone with customer service (mostly Netgear’s very patient and professional agents tried two different models, then tried Comcast’s rental modem as a troubleshooting step and it connected in minutes. Not sure what the issue root cause was, but I could not use Netgear modems. Returned to the store.

Product is great as a modem/router. Only problem I had was getting it setup to work well with xFinity internet. I ended up calling both xFinity and Netgear multiple times for a product that’s advertised to be compatible with the two companies. However, the installation was a huge headache.

Needed to update my modem. AC1200 fit the bill at a good price. Bought on line at Best Buy. There was a problem with it. Returned it to a store and they swapped it out. Now I have a stronger signal, faster speed, better security than my old modem.

Fast Router for grad school
I purchased this NETGEAR AC1200 modem/router to use to sustain my graduate school research. So far it has kept up incredibly well with both upload and download speeds, while running the programming required through my desktop and through remote desktop applications without a considerable change in speed.
This product is reliable and was installed seamlessly along with my internet provider. Great product.

Purchased product and was able to set up immediately. The quick setup instructions seemed off or dated a bit, so I called customer service and was guided through the setup with ease. Called my internet provided to register the codes and then completed setup. The AC1200 is very stable and the Wi-Fi signal is powerful enough to travel to all rooms throughout house. The household is pleased with its performance and its value.

My only comment is that I wish it said in the instructions that you have to create a Netgear account to use it, I spent a solid 36 hours trying to figure out why it wasn't working for anything other than chrome only to restart my computer and be prompted to create an account. Coming from a consumer who is usually annoyed about how idiot-proof they make everything this is highly ironic. Great modem, delivers good connection at the promised range.

Very good quality
I am very impressed with this Modem router. It's low profile so that I can store it out of site and the connection is reliable. I was given a compliment on this modem router by the xfinity service tech. I was told it was an easy connection.

I didn't realize I had cap lock on while I tried to enter the passcode, My old router
came with a much easier code. The rep at net gear tried to help me change may passcode which was a disaster

Easy to install! I'm a technidiot, and for it done very quickly. Most time spent was connecting to internet provider (Cox; and it wasn't that long either!) Up and running start to finish, including moving furniture, under an hour. Worked great from day one!

Good Choice ????
I spent hours looking for a modem/router combination that would cover the square footage of my new apartment, be Xfinity compatible, and feature rich.
The choices weren't great and I normally just rent the modem but I needed to terminate service and start over recently so I decided to stop paying $14 month renting. This modem/router has a small footprint but should run up to 20 devices. Save yourself some grief and follow the NetGear activation instructions rather than reaching out to the ISP. My installation failed at first because I wasn't registered with NetGear even though everything looked good on Xfinity's side.
So far things are working well. I have all my devices including WFH working without hard-wiring with an Ethernet cable.
In the past, everything I purchased from NetGear was an expensive disappointment. If you had that same experience, take a chance on this device like I did. For $90, this device's performance is worth it.

Did not meet my expectations
I bought this specifically to use with Comcast/Xfinity but I could not stream Xfinity. Modem/router worked as described and I had internet. I returned the item.

This modem/router combo was very easy to set up and the app is very easy to use! I haven’t had any issues with wifi speeds and it works well for xfinity internet service. The price is also reasonable given what you get.

Great modem router
This is my first combination modem router, it has been working great these past few weeks. I activated my internet services online, I didn’t have to call, and Xfinity service picked up the modem right away and it displayed on my account. We have connected a bunch of devices wirelessly and plugged in ethernet, and everything has been working quickly and no issues. The Wi-Fi signal is strong even upstairs. I easily programmed the router and changed settings to my preference.

the saving per month is worth it!!
i gave 4/5 only because it was a bit more difficult to setup that i expected. i had to get some help from an IT family member, but once he was involved, it went smoother.
i love the savings on my bill, as i’ve already seen a decrease of over $15/month!!

Works fine but setup not obvious
Once I got the product connected and working, it's fine. However, during setup I had difficulty connecting to the WiFi network (default SSID for the router.) The reason is you need to physically press a button near the top of the device to turn on WiFi. WiFi is not enabled by default... why, I cannot explain since this is a WiFi cable modem. Once you press the button to enable WiFi, the rest of the setup is easy.

Learned my lesson
For the last 7 months I have been duped by my ISP for $15 a month rental charge on their cable modem after they convinced me that my own modem would cost close to $300 if I were to go out and purchase it so I never even checked one out, last week I was in Walmart and noticed they had the AC 1200 Wi-Fi cable modem router on sale for $75 this modem outperforms the one that I was renting by triple the speed and excellent customer service after my ISP tried to connect this modem for 2 hours they couldn't do it one call in less than 5 minutes the customer service at Netgear had this modem up and running along with a Netgear app on my Android phone that is really cool, this modem will pay for itself in 5 months and I will recommend it to anyone needing a Wi-Fi cable modem, I don't like to admit it but Netgear has taught me a lesson thank you.

I upgraded my cable modem router to model C6230. I'm pleased with the upgrade. The modem is able to handle the increased speed and transmit information from the Internet faster. Also, I'm able to connect all of my devices to the Internet.

Netgear has some of the best products. This one has increased the range from what I had with the previous unit. The duel channels are the best feature. We have our tv's on one channel and phones and laptops on the other. Zero lag and never have a problem with signal.

This cable model router works well with Xfinity. Configuration was a breeze and the Wifi strength is OK.
The only drawback is that it gets very hot. You can clearly feel the heat raising from the vents.
This is basic modem, not a toaster.
I have not had any issues during the first two weeks of use, but this raises some questions on the energy usage and durability...
