The netgear app allows a very user friendly way to set up and also share passwords to friends and family when needed. Overall great experience with the device and the internet speed it delivers.

We had an older Netgear modem/router that Comcast said was outdated, so we bought this model. The speed test on my iPhone was 18mbps with the old model, then jumped to 88Mbps with the new. So far it’s handling 3 computers

It was certified to work with my cable internet provider, and it has been fine for cable TV and streaming most items. However, we had problems with multiple devices simultaneously and use with Zoom. Our internet plan had capability for 800 mbps download speeds, and this modem was touted to be able to handle 680 mbps. We contacted our internet provider and tested our actual download speed, which was around 140 mbps. The provider said our connection was good, so the problem was with the modem. Upon contacting NETGEAR, I was told that our model was outdated.

After (2) phone calls with Netgear (1st phone call was terminated by me because the customer service persons english was so poor I couldn't understand the return instructions) it was determined that the power source had failed. Netgear would not send a replacement until I sent the defective power supply back to them (at my expense). It took over (2) weeks from the time the unit failed until we received warranty parts and were buck up and running. Probably the industry standard however certainly taints my opinion of Netgear and this product.

I told them I paid about $100 on the modem and i am not going to spend another $90. I went ahead and bought a different modem from Motorola for $30. Ironically the cheaper one works way better than Netgear

The device should be setup in open space for better performance. I did notice the device getting heated up sometimes but did not notice any slowdown on overall internet speed.

Got this on Amazon Day and have enjoyed the luxury it provides. I never have to worry about the equipment! My only complaint, is the design. Trying to attach the cable cord is not easy, as it is a very tight fit and trying to twist it on is not easy. But that is not a big issue, the appearance of it is sleek and a LOT smaller than the Xfinity rental! I love this and would recommend NETGEAR to anyone looking for their own home equipment!

The 5g band worked well but the 2.4 band dropped to 20% of cabled speed when the laptop was 20 feet away in clear sight. The signal was too weak for an extender at the same spot. The item has been returned. Three stars since their support team was helpful but a defective unit cannot be fixed on the phone.

After a very easy setup we were ready to kick the wheels on our new router and boy were we pleased. Only issue I have ever had was my cable company (comcast…the worst) telling me it was too outdated to work with their system anymore. Well I reset the device and ta-da! Worked again without issue. I think that products like this should go directly to the shredder and that winning the card is very difficult. They never give anything away.

I live in a two story home where the tower is downstairs and Netgear signal is SO much stronger. It was extremely easy to set up and I’m so happy I made the switch to netgear. I’ve never had a dropped signal or problems with my connection and I’ve had it for about 2 months.

I have to unplug it, wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in every 2-4 days in order for my wifi connection to work properly, which is a pretty big pain. If not for that, this would be a great product.

Eventually changes went through despite app indicating otherwise. App has poor security; does not ask me to verify my identity using the administrator password when signing into the app, which is troubling.

Switched internet speed due to needed faster internet and out service became extremely slow. Notified the internet company, and they said it was the modem/router that was the issue. Contacted a customer service rep from netgear. The representative tried to charge $89 for them to fix the channel. Fixed the channel on my own, however internet service started to slow again.

It looks great, easy to install, no antennas and the Wi-Fi reached every single part of our two-story house. However, on the last year and a half our opinion has changed. When the devices are connected to the modem on cable (like the tv) it works fine but if a cell phone is updating for example, the download rates go down almost to zero. We can’t do two things at the same time anymore. The internet provided once said that we must change the admin password when the internet gets too slow because Netgear updates their software remotely and when it happens the connection comes back to dial-in levels. Changing the admin password isn’t an easy task. You have to use the IP address and now that there is an app, you just can’t access the admin page. It happened just last week, I downloaded the new app, follow the instructions and nothing happened. The IP address now send us directly to the app too in a endless cycle of anger and confusion. I don’t remember how I did it but it took me 1h30m to figure out a solution. So now we are not that happy anymore. I will give it 3 stars because this is still a good modem with long reach but it is not outstanding anymore and it is failing us more and more.

Since installing this modem router we have had severe connectivity issues. I often have to resort to using Cellular data for my phone to connect to the internet.

This Netgear AC 1600 is great for our medium size house. It is exactly what we needed. We don’t do gaming but do some streaming so it has great strength. I’m a senior in my 70s and it was very easy to set up! It’s a product I would certainly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Modem Router but… I’ve used the C2650 for 4 years. No problems. Until the IP address that could not be modified or blocked 1 week ago. Did a hardreset on the C2650, changed SSID and Strengthen Passwords only to discover the Hackers were still locked in my C2650 network map and I still could not modify, block, or remove their IP address on my C2650. After reporting my dilemma to local, state, federal authorities for possible ransom ware being ran through my C2650, I’ve opted for my Internet provider’s modem router gateway. 4 years was a good run! Thanks NETGEAR for having a 20 year customer with past models.

Our internet has been better than it was, though not as amazing as we would prefer, but I believe that is on our provider and NOT the device. My internet speed was not what I expected at 2.4 but at 5 I get the expected speeds. There are times that the downloading light is flashing. not sure if that is the router or the internet service. Beats renting a modem/router from your internet service.

Do not get confused about reasonable price – this is excellent modem and powerful router that easily covers over 1500sf with very stable signal. I gave it to my mom when she signed up for Comcast internet and got this one for myself. The only problem I've had was when Comcast upgraded, and my router no longer showed on my list of available networks. I rebooted it, but that didn't work. Comcast couldn't help, and Netgear wouldn't because I bought it more than 30 days ago. However, a very nice rep sent me a link to a few troubleshooting pages that I hadn't been able to find on their website. Turns out it just needed a factory reset (tiny recessed button on the back). Very grateful to that rep for not charging me the $$$ that she would have had to if she had told me the solution verbally. Hoping this one lasts as long as my first.

I've noticed that when a guest comes to my house, sometimes just the presence of their smartphone or laptop will cause the internet (both Wi-Fi and ethernet to stop working despite no outages in the area reported by my ISP.

Overall this router hasn't lived up to my expectations, but I do think I would upgrade to a higher tier netgear router to take further advantage of the Comcast gigabit speed.

I Purchased this because I did not want to have to pay a rental fee every month to the cable company. Recently I had trouble connecting to the Internet and the cable company assured me it was not on their side. When I called Netgear, I waited an hour and a half on the phone just to speak to a tech support rep!!!!!!!! The gentleman on the phone was super nice and courteous, we went through how to reset the router, but still no Internet. He assured me that the hardware was OK, but that I would have to purchase a tech agreement to check the software. That’s ridiculous! The tech agreement was nearly the price of the router/modem to begin with! I had no idea this was how Netgear operated! I thought that the tech would help you with troubleshooting the software as well….NOPE! I told him, I may as well go out and buy a brand new modem router for the price of the tech agreement!! So after 2 hours (waiting an hour and a half and being on the phone for half an hour).. I hung up the phone with no resolution! Fortunately, the problem resolved itself a few days later… The network popped back up working OK!!??? I do want to give kudos to the tech support guy on the phone though, I know his hands were “tied” By the NETGEAR company and he could only do so much without making me pay for a tech agreement. He was extremely nice, polite and courteous.

I am not a “TechGeek”, and it only required a single cable and power cord swap out. Then a simple call to my internet provider and I was back online. From there it was easy to get my WiFi Thermostat and WiFi sprinkler system connected. I would highly recommend the NETGEAR AC1600 Cable Modem Router without hesitation. Oh, did I mention it will pay for itself in less than a year and then I’m putting money in my pocket every month after that! Don’t hesitate, every month you delay it costs you money.

Bought this on HSN and installed it myself no problem. Surprisingly everything is better. Desktop laptop iPad cell phone everything runs smoothly with better reception. Sometimes I would have to reboot the computer to get back on line. I use Spectrum cable and it has drop outs that are very random and very short and this modem rides through them.

I was previously subscribed to xfinity's 800 mbps download speed and using their equipment, I would only get 100 mbs over wifi. The user interface for router management is also very intuitive and easy to use. This product has great value!

I called and my internet provider stated they do not do anything on their end to connect a new modem. I called Netgear back. Spoke to a person with English as a second language for almost an hour . I finally gave up and are sending it back. Your IT people need training. Poor product even worse technical assistance .

Installation was pretty simple thanks to the app. However, I am not reaching the speeds that I have paid for and that this device is capable of. Could be my provider's fault or the device's or situational based on my location. Not sure. But it works fine and my internet isn't terrible.

My old setup offered dual band wireless connectivity, however the transfer speeds were lackluster. It tells you that you need to update it and that you are suppose to get with your cable provider but they said it is the Netgear company who is suppose to do the update. Then the app you are suppose to use to update it wont work. About every hour the router disconnects. The Netgear company tells you that you can join their Support Field for a price to get assistance. I am currently looking for a different router, not a Netgear

Setting up was easy until I needed the app to finish the process. (But that was more a me issue than the devices. But once it was up and running it been a good device giving me a good signal in every room in the apartment.

Literally had easy step by step instructions to connect it to the wifi service that I also didn’t know how to connect to it. Lol I’d be hopeless without this thing.

This routers Wi-Fi combo is the perfect transition and the setup was easy. Hy house is 1900sf and I get coverage in every corner. I do like the ability to make administrator changes to the router, it’s not locked down like the rented equipment. The router has a usb port so I can plug-in an external hard drive and view all the photos when I’m connected to the WiFi. Great starter router for someone who is thinking about making the switch.

I bought a Arris modem and router and it did not work, and they were trying to charge me for customer support. Always go with Net Gear. Best price and premium quality product. My modem and router combo is small and this is perfect as it does not take up too much space. Glad I chose Net Gear!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seems OK so far, Nighthawk Doesn’t Work Was having trouble with a Surfboard modem with a Netgear R6260 attached after doing the latest update through Nighthawk. Decided to replace it with a modem/ router combo, the C6250. Set up in Nighthawk kept stalling at the “firmware out of date” stage. I was able to get into the settings through my MacBook but couldn’t find any settings to update it. Turns out with the modem, Spectrum is responsible for updating it. It had the latest update according to anything I could find. Tried doing setup again, deleting the app, all of it. Nothing worked but oddly I was able to download the old Netgear genie app and that works fine. Just seems like I lost a lot of features that I was used to with Nighthawk. Speeds seem the same as before and it’s not dropping the connection so all in all I guess it’s an improvement.

The biggest problem was that the app you need to set it up (and referenced in the included documents) isn't actually compatible (per my conversation with their tech support), and made the whole installation process more aggravating than necessary. Thankfully, this wasn't my first rodeo, so I got it set up and working and honestly I really love not having to use separate devices for both modem and router. Also, it's pretty sleek looking and fits with my other equipment. Overall, recommend it!

My speed has also increased and I've not seen any dropped packets. It's been a few weeks since I purchased the modem and it's still outstanding.

We used the first one for almost a year and then our internet company started blaming the router for our intermittent Internet service. When that happened we installed the other one and were having the same connectivity issues. Then our internet company said they had no way of telling if the router was the issue. Turns out it was a cable they had installed faulty. So, overall satisfied with this product.

Our TV viewing is perfect, and the signal reaches into our office 2 rooms away. We don't do online gaming, so I cannot say how it would work for those of you who do. For all our uses, it's great!

Have two ethernet connected devices (a desktop PC and an Ooma voip unit), and this has two ethernet ports, so I don't have to put the PC behind the Ooma unit, which makes for much greater internet speeds to my PC (Ooma's ethernet out is limited to 100 Mbps). Easy to set up, once you log into the Netgear app...

The app threw me off a bit when the firmware update came through but it was a lot simpler to fix then I thought. No complaints here at all.

But with the booklet instructions and the Nighthawk app it made it easy af. Since I set it up I haven't had a single issue with connectivity. It was connected to a 2 way splitter. the only way I could get it to stay on continuously was to hook it up directly. Now I have internet but no tv.

The AC1600 was recommended to me and I looked up on Amazon was able to get it for $132.00 It was $149.00 at Best Buy and Frys. It was easy to setup with the Genie and I also downloaded the app and it is great fof configuring your modem from your phone. I think it's better than the modem Cox was trying to sell me for a Monthly fee. Great to have everything I need in one device.

The support staff was also really helpful : when I received slow internet speed on my WIFI 2.5GHz channel, they helped me figure out that it was most likely a conflict with neighbors wireless frequencies and helped me change the channel which brought speed back to expected. The range of wifi is excellent and putting it at top floor in my 3 stories condo gives strong connection at 1st floor and garage. Really happy with this purchase.

Now, I moved to a new apartment without any modem or router, so I decided to get a modem and router combined. The Netgear AC1600 turns out to be better than I expected as it is super fast and very reliable. I thought this "combined" version would be slower than my initial Nighthawk router standalone, but it turns out the AC1600 is just as fast. My friend who moved to a new apartment also bought this AC1600 based on my recommendation.

My service allows up to 100mbps but I never exceeded speed over 50 mbps with my old modem and router. Now I get up to 110 mbps with the 5G channel and constantly above 50 mbps with 2G channel with just one device and no more monthly equipment rental from my isp.

The surfboard just didn't cut it for online gaming while the rest of my family watched netflix and cruised the internet. We switched to this Ac1600 and can't believe the difference in speed, performance and there is no lag. This is the Best Buy I've made in years, my wife and I are very impressed and it fits nicely behind my flat panel tv.

I also love monitoring the devices usage connected to it through the Netgear Genie app. Setup was a breeze and the slim-sleek design allows it to sit nicely in my living room. Netgear will now always be my go-to for any devices.

I found in comparison to our previous Arris set up the easy start for this wasn’t so easy. We already had cox set up, this was supposed to be a plug and play. Downloading the nighthawk app was ok but it didn’t exactly speak directly to the router. I ended up having to call Cox. They figured out what was going on, I went back in and updated the passwords and set up the WiFi main lines and guest. The next day it seemed to work fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It does the job Ok, mind you I’m not the best when it comes to setting up modems or modem-routers like this one. I had a rather difficult time setting this one up. The online help wasn’t that great, and getting to the site where I can change the default password proved to be rather difficult. I was immediately prompted to download a more updated software, but for some reason it instructed me to do it, but would it let me. I even got my friend that’s more than decent with computers, help me set the modem-router up, and he was not able to get the software to update either. I don’t recommend this modem router for beginners or anyone that has doubts in setting one up. Make sure you have someone that is familiar with this kind of technology. Thank you.

I work remote so it was a major headache. Purchased this WiFi modem/router combo and couldn’t be happier! I went with Netgear because of the name (brand and reliability. Set up was easy peezy and the tech support was second to none. I dreaded setting this up because I’m not tech savvy but netgear made it easy and (dare I say) enjoyable! Don’t question yourself- get this product!

I have Xfinity connection and all I did is connect the new modem router and follow the instructions in Nighthawk app. Finally they ask me to login to my Xfinity account to activate the internet connection. So far everything seems fine, no wifi issues.

Comcast activated it and took care of few other steps. It looks sleek and has larger range than my old one. So far so good!

It is a nice design, and it didnt take long for me to set up, although better instructions in the box of how to get the admin password info would have been nice. The only design issue is that I would prefer a power on/off button, instead I have to unplug it to turn it off

We are finally getting the Mbps that we have been paying for, for years! Happy with the product and would recommend it to anyone looking to have great streaming ability and quality for the price.

I have spent several hours several different times with netgear tech-support. They make me go through all the same steps over and over and over again only to end up hearing.. well it could be that Cox doesn’t have the right firmware version for this particular model OR it could be defective. If that is the case you will have to see what the return policy is where you purchased it.

The design is sleek and pretty durable thus far. I would not say it is the most easiest to work with when transferring locations, but there are many videos online to help troubleshoot. There are a few times it would need to be rebooted and lagged, although could be due to internet provider as well. Overall gets the job done for school work.

Netgear is one name brand I’ve come to rely on and it is yet to let me down! Like I said in the opening, owning is better than renting!! I don’t have to deal with the WiFi provider and it’s easy plug and play set up so I’m not letting anyone into the home and during these trying days that’s a safe way of thinking!
