Basically plug and play after you enter a few security details and connected the device. You are protected against harmful content from sources that may appear to be innocent but are in fact quite exploitative if not downright invasive. Particularly on what information or actions they take against your home network or devices. What is absolutely great is that all your connected devices share on the security offered by this device. You also have the ability to monitor and control remotely with a great deal of information that would help geeky types know exactly what is happening on their private network.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Should have a non-smartphone option for setup. Router does great once installed, however you have to download a smartphone app in order to install and set up. In rural areas where you might be using wifi to access mobile data, no help is given to set up besides the app. In my case I had to drive somewhere that I was able to download the app, set up a Netgear account, etc. over my mobile data in order to even get started. Would be nice to offer an alternative to download a wizard to your laptop or home computer via your modem before beginning installation rather than having to rely on mobile data or having to search through forums for a fix in this situation.

This thing worked for a day and a half and then couldn’t hold a signal anymore. Couldn’t access support for it since it couldn’t hold a signal. I returned this router after 4 days. Plenty of ports to connect the things that aren’t wireless and most importantly, it will run all of your older equipment that requires a 2.8ghz signal. As a bonus feature it’s a easy to install and the app for it is wonderful.

I asked what the cheapest contract I could buy was and was told $45 for 3 months. I said I could get a new router for just a little more than that. Which is what I did and you can bet it was not a Netgear router.

Anytime someone tries to access the router that has not already been approved for access I get notified, every time a website is blocked for any reason, I again get a notice about the site and why it was blocked. I like that I have full control of individual devices and have authority from the router to restrict devices from certain activities of the internet. Well worth the money!!

As soon as I installed the new Netgear, our WiFi and internet speed went through the roof! Not once, has the internet gone out or lagged! So pleased and happy with my purchase! Couldn't get them to work, bad apps etc. I needed a little help from my ISP customer service and installed with little problems. Rotated the unit 90 degrees one time and the coverage in my 1500 sq ft house is excellent with 350 mbps down load and 23 mbps upload on the computer furthest away from the router. The ISP plan states up to 500 mbps .This netgear product seems to be an excellent choice. Will be buying more netgear products in the future no doubt.

If you are the person who just use device from your internet service provider, you must try this and feel the difference by yourself. Pro: fast, reliable stable internet without much heat. Also set up is VERY easy. Product design: simply perfect. Con: if you are still using old phone like me(iphone6, you may experience trouble, since the app will not work old ios. If anyone in your home got better phone, it simply does not matter. Set up once, and it will work well. If anyone I know want to buy router, I will recommend this product.

It turned out to be an issue with Win 10 where I had to disable ethernet then re enable. That turned off the router amber light. I could finally go to router login and start the Genie program and just follow the instructions. Worked like a charm. Haven't had the router long enough to leave a review other than it does work. No one in the chat group had the right solution but did try all their suggestions. Thanks for trying.

Wifi speed is also blazing fast. I just did a speedtest and was getting 750mbps upload speed on a 1gbps internet. I have never seen such high numbers before.

Looked for an entry-level WiFi 6 and this came through. Provides blazing speeds over ethernet and WiFi, seems very stable, and had excellent tech support when I ran into a minor issue. Would recommend to any home user.

The first is that you have to own a cell phone to set it up yourself or you'll have to call customer service. I don't own a cell phone so that was a bother. The second issue is that the led lights are really bright in a darkened room. This may cause some people issues when trying to sleep if the router is placed in a bedroom. Overall, the price for the features is great.

I was not facing issues with Verizon router but was getting effective wifi speed of 50 MB/s. I got AX1800 and I can see even from 20 FT I still get 250MB/s speed. This has been enhancing the wifi speed for me. Thanks !

I thought getting a Wi-Fi 6 was worth it over the Wi-Fi 5 Even though I could’ve saved some money. I was previously working on a modem and router that was 11 years old. I would welcome additionally hardware WiFi switch (as in Archer D5 my parents have - as they don't like to use some configuration tools to just turn off the WiFi, hardware switch is as easy as it can be and I agree with them it is very convenient).

Our wifi doesn’t slow down with no need to restart the router. We were able to install an app to run speed tests on our internet. The app also allows you to see how many devices are connected and to pause the connection on any device that isn’t currently using the internet. 10/10 would recommend.

Since this the way every router is, I would say this one rates among the best if it’s not placed in the right location. Once placement is correct, this thing is smokin fast. After skimming through it and being impressed with all my settings choices I opted to use the Netgear app quick setup. It was easy and straightforward. The only problem I had was my fault for initially setting the security protocol higher than some of my older devices would support. I find the router, app and documentation well designed. I give them a hearty recommendation.

The NETGEAR AX1800 was a great value over other AX routers and even AX mesh routers. Set up was easy and straightforward. Now I have stronger signals inside and outside the house. Even better, my Ring camera connects a lot faster now and has a stronger signal despite CMU walls on the first floor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Horrible Reliability Wasted money on this router,constantly drops internet connectivity and have to reboot.This is the second one i received.The first one was replaced by Netgear because the 15 day return period from best buy expired....firmware update destroyed the router and Netgear replaced it only to have the replacement have the same issue with no internet connection.Now its is disconnected and sits in basement and was replaced with another brand that works the way it should.Wasted $149.00 +tax on this product that is less than 2 months in service...don't waste your money and stay away from this particular model.Also Netgear support is totally useless.

Checking with the provider they say our connection is good-no issues. I got a tip to have our own router instead and tried this one. And it works absolutely great. After lots of research I found the AX1800 router and it has been a dream! Complete game changer! My download speed have tripled and I have zero streaming issues. The NETGEAR AX1800 has proven to not only fulfill those needs but exceed my expectations. It is easy to manage and the application makes it easy to do quick changes if necessary and if I want to do more fine-tuning I can still log in and make the changes necessary in detail. I am very pleased with the performance and stability of this router.

The device plugged in, and took about a half hour to get up and running. The coverage area is adequate, signal strength is adequate as well. The issue so far is that in order to initially load web pages or run streaming tv on our Apple TV’s, I find myself having to restart or disconnect and then reconnect said device (phones, computers, TVs. After that the issue seems to go away. In all, not a bad device, but these bugs need to get sorted out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New router So I bought this router thinking that it was a good purchase for the long term and it was going to be able to handle my needs… I live alone so there’s not that much stress on the Internet and I pay for the ultra package for my Internet and for some reason the speed I was getting from this router was 80 Mb per second download and upload was 15 Mb per second, substantially lower than the 400 Mb per second download that I pay for... I even had my provider check if there was any issues on their end and there was not… The firmware was up-to-date as well. also the router itself would randomly reset or it would turn off throughout the day. Also the lights would turn off and then back on to Amber and eventually 10 minutes later turn white... I was shocked because I’ve had it at that point for four days... I personally do not recommend that router because I had to buy A different model and so far I have no issues and my speeds are amazing

Called customer support and they couldn’t get me on. Apparently this is a problem many people with this router have and there is no solution. Three conversations with Netgear tech reps that probably totaled close to 3 hours did not resolve the problem. When it became clear that Netgear could not identify the problem I had Verizon come back and test my connection. They suggested that there was a problem with my Netgear router. I decided to have Verizon install their router and the problem was instantly resolved. DO NOT BUY AS AN ALYTERNATIVE TO A VERIZON ROUTER.

Unbelievable the increased speed/throughput wifi 6 has made and this is their entry level model fir wifi 6. Couldnt be more aurprised ir pleased. Fyi this does not use Netgear Armor if you have a sub already, but uses the Nighthawk ap. You can combine your 2.4 and 5 ghz bands into one broadcast for easy smart connect or run as AX (wifi 6) internal router interface is upgraded but familiar to netgear users.

IDKW, same device. cant use wpa3, dont know why. I still like this router and trust the security. Budget friendly, for new tech. Trust netgear secuity this is my second purchase, easy to setup with Spectrum/Timewarner/Charter. 5 lan ports a , great for cctv; would like the ax adapter for the cctv/dvr for wired to wireless ax wifi6. decent customer service. Would recommend.

After having problems with my old ASUS router and my old surfboard modem, two weeks of trial and error, and dealing with the internet company I decided to buy a new router. Realizing that lightning may have damaged my gear, and needing to upgrade my old set up. This new Netgear router was very easy to install and set up. The instructions are clear and after 15 minutes, viola! My internet worked again. I love how streamline and easy the application works showing me all the details and options for usage and child restrictions. Definitely recommend this router to the next person, and it’s super fast!

Before this purchase my internet connection would go out 3-5 times during a show , let alone all the other things it would drop. Since I installed this a few days ago I have not had a drop yet. I run everything I. My house on my WiFi. This has been the best purchase I have made in a long time. I will tell all my friends about this product. In fact I already did the next day and she went right out and bought one as well!

I bought this to replace another, and now I am unable to use that company’s App to access because that company’s App doesn’t seem to like this machine. So that’s a problem.

Rock solid after setup, the security systems do a good job of staving off unwanted visitors to the network. I have a Gbit download connection and the Nighthawk gives me solid and secure performance.

The router is in the middle on one side, and I have full bars everywhere except the two back corners on the opposite side where I lose 1 bar. With so many WiFi devices I also like how I can control which devices are using the router with the app on my phone. Great router!

My son and I was surprised when we ran a speed test on RAX20. It posted a supper fast 480 Mbps download speed and 32 Mbps upload speed. It is 4x faster the speed of my old Linksys router. I am every happy that I chose a correct router for my home. My son is supper happy!

Using WiFi with it could cause issues. Decided to try the RAX20 and life got better. So decided to order the EAX20 extender to mesh the whole house. Looking forward to ending switching routers. The RAX20 works great.

Had it up and running in minutes and it has much improved the wireless performance throughout the house. Wish I had done this a long time ago. You can easily find detailed instructions on the net on how to do replace your router from Verizon, but here are the basics: FIOS Optical Network Terminal (ONT box has to be configured to use "Ethernet". Most are already configured this way, but if not, you'll have to call Verizon and get a tech to remotely do that. If you only have a COAX connector from your ONT to your router, you'll have to connect an ethernet cable from the ONT to the router's WAN port. Before disconnecting your old router, hit the factory restore/reset to release IP address. Connect the ethernet cable from the ONT to the WAN port on the RAX20 and power it up. It should self-negotiate an IP address from FIOS within minutes. Then you're good to go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Botched setup process If you follow the directions they give you this will not work you have to use a specific order of alternative methods to install the firmware update that eventually after hours of messing around will figure out and successfully apply and then after a couple of days of devices connecting with no internet eventually it will settle down and work mostly as advertised.

After replacing that with the AX1800 I’ve had no issues. It handles streaming on multiple TVs and computers with no problems. I love being able to monitor any attempted logins to my network with the Nighthawk app and having the versatility it provides. This router will easily pay for itself and save me lots of headaches.

Moving down here was a different story. I tried every set up and used different equipment that the internet company provide (which I was renting not even owning and nothing worked. Until I saw this ad for AX1800 Netgear WiFi router come up on my phone. I called my Tech infused brother in law and he told me this is the next generation of WiFi software. So I bought it of course and I will NEVER look back. I was getting to a point where I just accepted lag playing video games and buffering watching shows/movies until I hooked this up and it’s changed my life. If it works for me where I live, I promise it will NOT disappoint!!

Once I received it and set up the new century link combo I had half the distance for wifi and much slower speed. I bought this router from Best Buy and turned off the wifi on my century link router and I am back to faster speeds and longer range. Reaches everywhere I need it. Very pleased!

I have to refresh my browser multiple times and await connectivity which is pretty annoying. Able to handle the 20 devices in my home as expected.

In order to handle various streaming services, on line school for three children and two professionals with heavy data transfers working from home this router has allowed me to segregate wi fi networks to manage load, improve security and limit access for the children who like to abuse their new found freedom. In addition to the new Netgear cable modem the home network is doing everything that is asked of it. In addition, the easy to use Nighthawk app allows me to easily manage the network. Thus far, this is everything I could have asked for with a very friendly price.

Initially, it worked pretty good. After installing a few updates that were available for it, it has become very unstable. Wi-fi access will often drop, it refuses new wi-fi devices unless i reboot it, also, a reboot is necessary for wi-fi access at all sometimes. Even wired internet access isn't always stable. Very disappointed.

After installing this Netgear router and hardwiring it with a cable leading upstairs, my computer is lightning fast with a very strong connection. No more lag, low ping, and barely any latency for gaming. Usually I got around 280mbs now I’m pushing 380 to 480mbs (which is was I pay for. The Nighthawk app has run great so far with no issues and it’s very easy to monitor your WiFi and all devices connected to it. Overall it was a fantastic buy and I’d highly recommend to anyone looking to upgrade their home WiFi.

This router was very easy to setup and has made my WiFi dead zones a thing of the past. My home office and router are separated by a concrete wall which makes my signal have to fight to get back to that room. This RAX20 has increased my wifi speed by 5-8 mbps and consistently at that. An excellent product for a great price.

As soon as I connected it there was a noticeable change. My internet like never before was amazingly fast. I love net gear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast but a massive security hole The AX20 works really well with gigabit speeds. I have a gigabit connection to my home and I am getting decent speeds. However, the router's default security is atrociously poor. ALL services are enabled by default - telnet, rlogin, ftp and there is no good way to disable all of them and enable a select few. In layman terms - the gates are wide open and you can only selectively put some obstructions. I am returning this security nightmare.

The app also allows you easy control over your wfi and to make a guest wfi and or monitor your wfi easier! It also improves my wfi connection as well.

Setup was a breeze, went through some updates, and voila. My WiFi works as it should and has stayed consistent for weeks now. I am one happy camper!

My speed was by no means slow but I would only get on average 250mb download and 40 upload. Once I switched and made sure to use the right channels and power for the house it improved the speed by almost 200mb per second. So a grand total of 450mb down and 40 up. I highly recommend this product.

Basically plug and play after you enter a few security details and connected the device. You are protected against harmful content from sources that may appear to be innocent but are in fact quite exploitative if not downright invasive. Particularly on what information or actions they take against your home network or devices. What is absolutely great is that all your connected devices share on the security offered by this device. You also have the ability to monitor and control remotely with a great deal of information that would help geeky types know exactly what is happening on their private network.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple and works good I bought my Netgear router primarily to improve my wi-fi signal and also to make my wi-fi more secure. I have AT&T U-Verse service and with the original proprietary gateway/router box. I cannot get rid of this box because its gateway is needed to access the AT&T signal. But I connected my Netgear router to it and then turned off the wi-fi portion of the AT&T box so it no longer emits any wi-fi signal. I like how I can use the Netgear Nighthawk software (on my computer or phone) to monitor the devices on my network, both wired and wi-fi. And, I like how the software allows me to prevent access of unauthorized devices. I also like how I can turn down the strength of the wi-fi signal so it is not too strong. I am located in an urban area in an apartment building surrounded by other apartment buildings. So these features are important to me. The router software took some time to learn and set-up. There is no selectable bridge mode on my AT&T gateway/router box, but the Netgear software detected this and automatically figured out the appropriate settings to make after I connected it. I later called Netgear tech support and they gave me some additional settings to make. I rarely have any connection problems with my wi-fi connected entertainment center in my bedroom, even with the router's power level set to half power. The wi-fi signal is more reliable than before. I wish there were a way in the router app to turn down (but not completely turn off) the blinking modem lights. They are way too bright so I covered them with some special tape. And, the labels describing the lights and buttons are hard to read. But these are minor criticisms. I also like how the router has a built in USB port for using with flash drives. I don't use this feature very often but it is still nice to have. Overall, I am very happy with my Netgear router, even after over 2 years of use.

One of my routers died so I acquired this nighthawk router to replace it, however I was glad to find out that the signal is strong such that I am getting rid of my dual set up. In addition, it has VPN features to access the internet from my home broadband when I am on the road, set up that I had been trying to replicate for a long time.

Antennas are great, just up or down and having to point 10 of them in different directions. LEDs are vibrant. One thing only that could be done, the icons on the router that represent what each LEDs are for, are black, just like the rest of the router. Could possibly be outlined white to see the icons better. I personally dabbed on some liquid paper and wiped off the excess, now icons pop. Simple beast of a router!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good router but can be improved The router has been running fine so far. What I like is the openVPN support so I can use my home internet securely from anywhere. However the ReadyShare can be improved, the admin password is fine but in case I need to create another public folder, it works quite strange. Other than that, I don't know why Remote Management is not available. Anywhere Access is only for basic thing. However I can use VPN as a workaround.
