The Media and Entertainment (M&E) live video broadcasting industry is undergoing a transition from Serial Digital Interface (SDI) infrastructure to IP-based solutions. This move presents live video broadcasters with a number of key benefits inherent to IP-based solutions - namely scalability and flexibility. IP-based solutions can also address the high bandwidth requirement derived from the adoption of 4K UHD and 8K UHD video formats. The move to IP is accompanied by demanding standards, such as the SMPTE 2110-21 specification for packet pacing, which addresses both the switch and receiver restrictions.
Rivermax implements an optimized software library API for media streaming applications. Rivermax runs on Mellanox ConnectX-5, or higher, network adapters and makes use of ConnectX dedicated hardware streaming accelerations. These offloads allow the application to remain in frame/line(s) level while hardware strips packet-level headers and assembles frames/line(s) directly to application memory. Rivermax en
