Upon opening this new laptop, I was impressed by its lightness and fast processing speeds. I also found the color and clarity better than my former laptop. Glad that I got my LG Gram while it was on sale at Costco.

But it showed some fetal drawbacks after 6 months of purchase. two major findings were trembling window and malfunction of mouse pad (can't copy and paste). So I have to send to LG for repair. Additionally, resolution of camera in this model is poor (blurring) in Zoom.

No DVD but when needed (rarely), have an external DVD. We purchased a third laptop for our grandson when he graduated high school and headed to college. He as well has had no problems and laptop still in use four years later.

It was important to me to have the 17” screen and the number pad in the keyboard, and I absolutely love how light this thing is. The screen is really nice, and it serves us well whether it’s watching internet tv, household computing, or taking it on the road when needed. Did I mention how nice and lightweight it is? Worth every penny.

It does everything quick, even the booting time. It has finger print reader on the power button. Very good if your always on the go due to its lightness. Very happy with the purchase.

I love the light weight of the computer and 17" screen with the higher resolution. I also love the solid state drive for it's speed, however I would have preferred a 1TB drive rather than the 512 GB drive. I would recommend this computer to family and friends.

I highly recommend that the keyboard be standardized like most other manufacturers. The layout is not that simple to work with in having to use the function key for actions normally not required for keyboards. The Gram needs to have touch screen as well.

At only 2.9 lbs., they’ve managed to get a full 17” screen into a laptop that is the same outside dimensions as a 15.6”, but actually considerably thinner! My high-end 13” is heavier than this! My ONLY complaint so far is the fingerprint reader is glitchy. You’ve got to try this computer to believe!

Now for whole day I use the laptop without plugged into the charger and at night I charge it. Also its light weight and I take it with me for hiking in case I get a support call while I am on the trail.

I had a 17 inch laptop Dell dinosaur that I purchased in 2007 and was totally frustrated with how slow it was and messages that many web sites said I was no longer compatible, but I could not upgrade from vista. When I saw the Costco ad for the 17 inch LG Gram at a great price I jumped on the deal and am so glad I did computing is no longer a pain; it's a joy! Thanks LG!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the big screen and light weight I moved up from an HP i3 with a 14" screen that was 7 years old, so naturally I love this super fast LG 17" machine. I've had it 5 months now. The picture is beautiful, vibrant and very clear. It's so fast it comes on in seconds. I use a mouse, so I turned off the trackbar which I was inadvertently touching and causing problems. It has a number pad, but it's smaller than usual and I have not yet learned how to use it by touch only. The function keys require you to first hold down an "Fn" key with your left hand while, with your right hand you then hit the function key. I don't like that at all. I love how light it is. It's actually lighter than my old HP 14" and it fits in my laptop bag which is sized for a 15.6" so that's also a bonus. I'm a fast typist and the keyboard does not slow me down much...perhaps just slightly if I touch a key too lightly and have to go back. All in all, I'm glad I purchased this laptop. I can carry it all over the house with one hand, and it's a 17" !!!

Took a chance and happy I did. My only concerns are the charger power inlet port on the left side which doesn't seem to engage very securely, and I fear future problems, or thinking I have fully inserted the connector, and not having done so, and the advertised battery life that I have not come close to achieving.

Usually 17 in laptops are super bulky and heavy, and this one is definitely the opposite. It's so easy to move from room to room, and the display is GORGEOUS. Love the speed and keyboard too. There is really not one thing I don't like about this laptop. Well done LG!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very light weight and long battery lide I've operated my 17" gram for some two months now and I love it. The light weight makes more of a difference than I expected. The battery life is astonishing ... finally i can work all of a transcon flight. The touch pad isn't located quite right but I'm slowly getting used to it and, for my taste, I would prefer separate buttons for mouse clicks but that isn't a big deal either. It is quiet and cool. I wish I had bought it earlier.

The tumble dealt a death blow to the old HP, but opportunity it was, opening the door to the LG gram. It was the most expensive unit on display at COSTCO, but I went for it, and I'm very pleased with my purchase. The machine is beautiful, light and incredibly slim. The screen is huge and vivid, so easy on my aging eyes. And the start-up is almost lightbulb quick, likely due to the solid state electronics. I am sold on this laptop.

Now that I have had it approximately 3 weeks I am very thankful that I made the purchase. The screen size is fantastic. At 55 bigger screen size is always better. I travel a lot for work and I purchased this for a side business. The fact that this laptop does not really add any weight while travelling is a huge plus. The screen, memory, specs, etc are perfect for me. Great laptop. You will not be disappointed with your purchase.

I push a huge second monitor and the laptop drives it without any hiccups. I'm not a huge tech person, so I can't get into those details, I can just tell you it runs great and I have had no issues. It is very "logical" in it's operation - I can follow the reasoning of the steps it takes. It is incredibly light weight and I have changed my usage so that I take the computer with me throughout the house and I have never had an issue with the battery life altering my plans. The large screen makes it much easier to see everyone in the class compared to the tablet which I had been using. It is very light weight which makes it very portable. It is fast and easily does basic business and communications stuff. Its weakness is the camera which doesn’t produce a very crisp image when broadcasting online. It is very bright which I was able to tone down and the color is pretty washed out. I was pleased though, to find a wider angle in one of its settings. Overall, it is quite adequate for what I bought it for.

The keyboard has an excellent feel and te touchpad does not get in the way. Back at the office it as plenty of graphics power to run a 24 inch display and has all the smart features necessary to use other devices. Plenty of ports and features

I had no idea just how lightweight this was until I unpacked it. I will likely have to add a stand alone cd drive. The computer set up quickly. It’s boots very quickly from full shutdown. As many have noted the speakers are not great and when needed I use a Bluetooth speaker.

The battery life is among the best, regardless of screen size or resolution. The boot up time is fastest I've seen. The performance is excellent. Not a gamer, so cannot comment on the game performance.

It starts almost immediately and has every feature I could want (OK, I sometimes need a CD/DVD reader, but that is easily attached externally. The large screen is great for aging eyes. I like it!

It’s big screen let me see more people more clearly, it’s light weight let me easily move it from home to studio and back, and the long lasting battery meant I didn’t have to worry about cables. The camera wasn’t great - the colors were washed out, made me look sickly but I liked the wide angle. The deal breaker was that after two months, people started freezing up and I got on-screen messages that there wasn’t enough bandwidth. I tested the WiFi speed with other devices at the same time side-by-side, including another PC laptop and this LG was at about a third the speed of the others. The only way it would match the speed was to hook it up with an Ethernet cable. I hope this was just a lemon; I returned it. If WiFi and a good camera isn’t necessary, this is a great workhorse of a machine.

In researching the purchase, I spoke to many sales folks at Costco and Sam’s club and Best Buy to collect information and decide which format/computer would best serve my needs as a Realtor needing mobility and quality presentation graphics-large enough for my client’s to truly see detailed graphics/photos and light enough to not require a huge footprint while doing so. The Gram is LIGHT, large and the battery life is amazing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Responsive, exceptional display, long battery life I purchased the Gram 17 for software development, general browsing/office use and occasional video encoding using Handbrake. This replaces a 10 year old Dell Precision M6500 (i7 w/SSD which was on its last legs. The Gram 17's best features are its exceptional display, excellent touchpad, quiet operation and long battery life. It is very responsive for everyday computing. The out of box setup was very easy, and only a very limited amount of "junkware" was installed on the system. The LG update utility works great. Performance: While more than adequate for general usage, I found that its performance was lacking for any intensive computing. The hardware is capable of much higher performance, but is constrained by thermal limitations of the packaging. I think if the CPU cooling was improved, the Gram's performance would easily be doubled, and that would make it a solid development machine. Pros: Both USB-3 & USB-C/thunderbolt ports. Very lightweight and sturdy for its size. Has two M.2 SSD slots. OEM M.2 SSD has very good performance. i7-1065G7 processor has excellent low-power performance. 16:10 aspect ratio display is great! Cons: Sound quality is marginal. Power cable connection is tiny and appears flimsy. RAM is limited by 8 GB soldered to board + one external 8GM SODIMM. CPU throttled *way* back during more intensive computing.

The drawbacks are first, lousy speakers (they are barely adequate for casual listening, second, low-budget keyboard is difficult to use if you type with a light touch and/or quickly, lastly, it takes 2 hands to use the keyboard controls for volume, mute, brightness, keyboard illumination, etc. It would also be nice if information on RAM and SSD upgrades were available directly from LG Tech Support. Despite these annoying drawbacks I'm still happy with the unit.

The screen is so vivid and bright I am amazed every time I turn it on. The fingerprint recognition has worked 100 percent of the time. I am a light user and the computer is probably overkill for what I do but such a pleasure to use. I have zero regrets.

It wa a difficult time to try to find one with the qualities I wanted ..certain hard drive and processor. I then came across this one. Though I keep it mainly on my desk it is so lightweight to bring into another room. It is quick downloading pages and video..no buffering..Easy to type on.I'm able to easily Zoom or use Google Meet.....Its perfect for me!

Because it has 16gb of RAM, it runs pretty fast even though it's processing speed is only 1.5ghz. It would be a perfect rating of 5 except for the processing speed. The 17" screen is crisp and sharp, the keyboard is comfortable and has a good feel and it's very light. One odd thing they've done is with the "Home" and "End" keys which require you to use the function (FN key which is awkward, but I've adapted to it. The battery life is great, too.

So I held one corner of the laptop in my flingers and thumb and was shocked to find that I could pick it up easily. The price was very tempting and I bought it on the spot without looking at any other laptop.. I love the big bright screen (compared to the 13" laptop I used before). Battery lasts most of the day. Keyboard and trackpad are both firm and responsive. I am enjoying using this machine.

Crystal clear 17" inch screen makes video calls & virtual events a pleasure. Lightening fast processing increases productivity. This is me very first laptop and navigating the functions had been fairly seamless. Haven't yet needed a tech coach or support. And it's so lightweight, and the keyboard is so responsive, it's almost always my device of choice.

Mostly used for web browsing around the house and out on the deck, where I'm writing this review on it now instead of working. NO joke, this thing is light as a feather and I carry it all over the house. It is super portable and I prefer it over the iPad, which is heavier! It's kept next to the recliner where I can charge it with the same USB C charger that charges my phone - super convenient! The battery lasts forever and I have to charge my phone more often. It's attractive without being flashy, the keyboard is large and backlit with a full numpad, the speakers kind of suck but there's a headset jack for when you want to hear good!

Having said that, I have been for the most part incredibly pleased with this purchase. Some of the things I'm going to mention would be nice to have, but I mention them know full well they would add to to overall weight of the machine. Pros: * Did I mention impossibly light? This 17" laptop weighs only a little more than my iPad, yet (to me) it doesn't feel cheaply built. This is a great model for someone with weaker hands or arthritis * Bright, sharp screen * Really fast start up. * Easy set up * I love that the power button isn't on the side like other laptops I've had. * Touchpad is responsive, but not too sensitive * Fast processing time * Bluetooth Cons: * Not a touchscreen (Would add weight) * Could use better speakers. At 100%, there's often a buzz. * Occasionally gives me the blue screen of death, but then starts right back up. So far, I haven't lost any data. This is the reason it's getting 4 stars - but in reality, it only loses a half a star for this issue.

Audio quality is not bad for a laptop. Comfortable and responsive touchpad. Negatives: The screen is a bit reflective in a brightly lit room. The wired internet connection via the USB 3.0 ethernet adaptor is not as fast as other devices I own with a dedicated ethernet jack. It is fast, but not AS fast as other devices, for some reason.

I have had many times when this second drive did not show up as available. I have to reboot, sometimes more than once, to get the drive back. Othewise, I have found the system to be everything I expected, quite good, very light and easy to work with. Love the finger print login.

I can cold boot and be hosting a class of student on zoom in under 1 minute. That is not a typo. Boot and login in under a minute. This computer is fast in many ways. It can manage multiple monitors and multiple cameras in zoom and can share the presentation screen with yet another host and have both work together to manage the action. The computer is the lightest I have used even though it has a 17" screen. Using the 3 USB ports for multiple connections and the USB C port, the ability to expand is unprecedented. The battery is fabulous for remote use in my Rotary Club meetings to host a mixed meeting from a restaurant on Zoom and manage a projector for the meeting. This is a true joy to use along with my LG 27MN60T-W monitor. A wonderful high resolution monitor.

Mainly used for work and data processing (word, excel and outlook) and graphics (via web application). Also used rarely to watch videos online both for work and leisure. The laptop comes with LG utilities but no other bloatware. The screen quality and resolution is excellent in both bright and dark surrounding. Battery Life (I set the max battery charge to 80% to prolong battery life) is about 7 hours when used with medium brightness, wifi, bluetooth and web applications. To get max battery life will need to turn down screen brightness and charge to 100%. The reason I did not give the product 5 stars (4 1/2 *) Keyboard is comfortable to type on, not as nice as a mechanical keyboard but very user friendly. Back lit feature is excellent in dark environments. Also, although the charger is a bit clunky by today's standards--at least its very light--about 5 to 6 oz including wiring (can stretch over 5 feet from outlet). Overall very satisfied, I have mostly used OSX Macbooks prior to this experience in the last 20 years, and the utility is comparable to the OSX experience (you do have learn how to use windows 10!).

This LG Gram 17 has a really large screen and it's even lighter than the Lenovo which as fairly light. The Battery life is superb. So far I am very happy with it.

I tried it out in the store before purchasing and read all the reviews good not so good before purchasing, and so far I'm very pleased. With a few additional hubs all my devices are humming along. It doesn't have a touch screen but that was not a requirement for me and I was happy to save a few hundred bucks to go without. Some people have mentioned that the touchpad is in an awkward place because of the separate numeric keypad. I use a mouse anyway and have the touchpad turned off but when I did use it, it really didn't seem like an issue.

I had gone through all Windows, LG and Intel (except LG specific one updates. Even after this, the WiFi kept dropping. I had to uninstall the driver and have it be reinstalled after a reboot. The problem was resolved immediately, after that and I have been very happy. I was about ready to return it. Why doesn't LG update manager software to deal with this issue? I've read other people having the same problem.

Customer service was really good about it and replaced it with no problem, though. It's nice and lightweight which makes moving around really easy. The touch pad is poorly placed, but it's easy to turn off, although it is inconvenient to turn it on and off. It does not connect well with my printer. I keep having to reset the link. And I wish it had a disc player.

Windows home 10 software works well. Keyboard layout is nice with number keypad included. I would recommend this laptop. As compared to my previous laptop, this one is amazingly light. Crazy fast to boot up. Finger print optional set up on the power button is awesome. Consumer Reports had highly rated this LG Gram, that is why I selected it. I agree this is a great laptop. For the price it really is an awesome tool for work and school, especially with the 17 inches screen size. The screen is decently impressive, would hope for a bit more brightness and the laptop doesn’t run games well - which is somewhat expected. Mine also broke after 2 years but LG was very helpful in getting a repair in for me once they understood my issue. For the price it is a decent laptop, in fact I think the model make up is so compelling I would be very happy to buy another one with an improved graphics card and more power. Decently durable and super light.
