Available with Intel Xeon processing and NVIDIA Quadro graphics, the ThinkPad P52 has power like no other 15" workstation-in fact, it's our first-in-class VR-Ready certified system. A great choice for engineers and designers, and anyone who needs powerful performance in a compact chassis.

Lenovo ThinkPad P52 - 15.6" - Core i7 8750H - 16 GB RAM - 512 GB SSD is rated4.72 out of5 by225.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Workstation doesn't do this machine justice.I've been a laptop and PC user for more than 30 years. I've owned many PCs, workstations, tablets, laptops, notebooks, ultrabooks. This ThinkPad is amazing feature packed, and FAST. Brilliant graphics with a huge 4k screen, 6 Core Xeon in one of our most intensive engineering simullations against 4 processor cores, we have watched it run up in the 4.1Ghz+ range sustained. This model was fit out with dual M.2 2TB SSD drives which have sustained write speeds over 1GB/sec. Everything you might have heard about the power of this machine is true, and then some. We have even been impressed with the battery life at around 5 hours of normal use when off power. If you really need workhorse workstation power for engineering simulation, CFD, Monte Carlo, CAD, it is the box to have. Great keyboard as well.My only "Dislikes" are extremely minor: 1. The Weight, but the weight assists in heat removal with the heat sync, and there must be some trade off.2. The FN key is at the bottom left of the keyboard with CTRL key inside that. Would FAR prefer the CTRL key on the outside corner of the keyboard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Head and shoulders above the restI have been looking for a high-end laptop that I can use when outside my office - one that doesn't compromise speed or features as compared to my office workstation. That's been a tough demand because I have a Lenovo Thinkstation in my office with 128 GB RAM and 6 terabytes of storage with multiple processors. Impossible to match? Yes, until I found the ThinkPad P52 mobile workstation. This is just as fast, just as capable and has so much RAM that I feel like I am at my regular workstation. You can actually spend more money for other brands, but I don't think you can get a more powerful and capable mobile workstation than the ThinkPad P52 maxed out with RAM and the fastest CPU. This is #1 and there is nothing else like it! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lenovo I'm your #1 fan... but what is this?My background is in computer programming and engineering. I love Lenovo products. I have used Lenovo laptops for over 15 years for both work and personal use.I purchased this machine just two months ago and I have so far experienced a multitude of issues. Overall I have been very disappointed.I have been unimpressed by the performance. Many of the features do not work or have trouble working. For example the finger scanner will often freeze up upon attempting to login. The laptop runs hot and at times has nearly overheated. Subtle design flaws, such as the touchpad buttons are poorly engineered (too large) to detect clicking around 50% of the time. Overall the laptop runs very glitchy. The laptop is well overpriced given what I have received. Thankfully I purchased this through my employer. My advice would be to stick with a T400 series, or if you need a powerful device consider an alternate brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quite a powerhouse. 1 stuck pixel.P52 with i7-8850H and Quadro P3200 and UHD display. Display is great. Main purpose was for editing 4k60 video with DaVinci Resolve and it does an excellent job at that. I purchased with the base HDD and later added my own 1tb nvme ssd's. With the stock HDD it was unbearably slow to boot up. I've noticed a stuck pixel on the screen now which seems to be stuck on green. Hope I can fix with just a pixel fixer but do have warranty if not. I could not find a better value out there either for the hardware you get and little bloatware (and I shopped for months). Reliability was only marked down due to the screen issue within the first 2 months of having it. Hits around 150fps in Cinebench R15 openGL and around 1283 on the Cinebench R15 CPU multicore test. Wish the fan would ramp up faster when the CPU heats up though. Thermal throttle hits before the fan(s) will ramp up enough to mitigate the temp spike. Firmware could address that hopefully. Additionally, it will hit power limits if it doesn't thermal throttle. Then again, I haven't seen anything out there that will not thermal throttle or power throttle with either 8750/8850 cpu's. I have played with intel xtu and uc'd the 8850H -165mv with better thermal results and bumped my CB R15 score to where it is and have a very stable system. Wish they made an external 32" 4k monitor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for Architecture StudentsWhen looking for a reliable workstation laptop for architecture school, the P52 with an Intel Core i7-8850H with Nvidia Quadro P2000 graphics best fits my needs. I have used this laptop extensively for studio projects for almost 3 months and I am really satisfied with the overall performance. It can easily run and handle AutoCAD, Rhino, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, and InDesign without any hiccups. I would highly recommend this laptop for any architect student.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PowerhouseIt is heavy beast, but it has the key features I was looking for: replaceable battery, excellent serviceability, *two* Thunderbolt 3 ports and a separate Slim Tip power port. I initially had some concerns about the UHD touchscreen because it looks a bit odd, as though it was glued on top of a regular laptop screen. Also it is semi-matte, so I was worried this would interfere with the quality of the display. Not all all, I was very quickly reassured. I have yet to put the system through all of its paces, but at this stage, it is performing exactly as I thought it would. (And by the way the Lenovo Think Vantage software is all right, I thought it would be a bit silly, but it offers a slew of useful functions)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versus DellThere are only a handful of magazine reviews yet on this laptop so here are the fundamental aspects that I will note here briefly. I compared this directly with a Dell Precision 7530 workstation and what I found was that you have to be very careful when checking the list of configurations for a particular 7530 that you are choosing. Yes, that is nice you have options but that can also bite you. They charge extra for things like a Camera/Mic or Backlit keyboard so you have to be very conscious of this or you will be disappointed if you did not check the right boxes plus the price goes up for those "premium features. The feature that broke the camel's back was their keyboard. Probably just as good as the Lenovo BUT I had read a note by a customer that the keyboard "flex'd". Turns out it is not the keyboard but a bezel that surrounds the keyboard and that does flex as you push down on it. It can be worse if you don't have ram filling the slots under the keyboard as this will accentuate the apparent flex. Displays for both were good enough and the Ultra version of both brands is very very good.I prefer the accessibility to the ram and storage on the Lenovo much better with it's captive screws versus the loose screws on the Dell and there are more of them to remove.Hardware and configuration wise they are equal in most other ways so that was not an issue and I assume they are equally durable which was another main point for me. One important note is that if you do not get the laptop configured as you would ultimately like, you may not be able to upgrade the parts later since the motherboard comes as is. For example, if you do not get the backlit keyboard or the camera/ mic combo, the motherboards are specific to the sold configuration so there will be no accommodations for the later post warranty add-ons. That was another deal breaker for me.Support wise, the one thing I wish Lenovo would get back to is the three year depot warranty since Dell has the three year vs Lenovo's 1 year. That could be a deal breaker for others. For me, I feel the Lenovo was the better choice and feel I got the most features I was hoping for and that it remained mostly the same as the P50. Some may complain it's not updated enough but I am very happy the way they improved the tech but stuck to their guns on externals. Oh, and one last..., I like the camera security curtain built into the display bezel so the shutter can be closed when not in use. Nice touch no one else offers. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight but Powerful!I've been using the P52 for about a month now and I've really taken it for it's paces. The machine is far lighter than my W-series lenovo, but still packs a punch and maintains its battery life. I recently pushed the device for 14 hours using the NVIDIA P2000 in my device for a machine learning protocol and the machine handled this processing-intensive task like a champ! If you're looking for a laptop that you can travel with and that can also replace your desktop, the P52 is a competitive option. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great build quality and loadedThese systems are working out great for my engineers as they now have the power that their desktops would bring but in a laptop. The battery is extremely powerful and keeps things rolling for a good long time when ac is not available. I think they do have problems connecting to projectors and the like due to the discrete graphics but that really isn't a big issue. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best in ClassExcellent Workstation - has everything you would expect from a 15.4" laptop and more. Battery life while working on the web and microsoft office is around 7+ hours. Gaming performance is similar to a GTX 1050ti. The power does come with extra heft and a bit thicker chassis, but that is to be expected from a Xeon processor and high performance graphics. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful SolidWorks CapabilitiesI'm a week into utilizing my P52 with RAM upgrades and SSD upgrades. Very impressive CAD performance with advanced additive manufacturing, advanced simulation studies, and photorealistic rendering capabilities. I'm able to quickly and effectively solve complex simulations for designs composed of over 20 million surfaces. I have yet to clock my CPU over 30% and my RAM is under 40%. My old station couldn't even open these files let alone simulate loads with contacting surfaces. Very powerful asset for any CAD user. Also, Lenovo has an automatic critical updating tool. It handles all drivers including graphics, motherboard, sound, etc. Very handy tool that allows me to ignore all that junk and just do what I do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality, but concerned about VR performanceFirst impression - amazing building quality, beautiful screen, and great keyboard. Primary concern right now is VR performance. I bought the model with the Quadro P3200 because it was "VR Ready", but initial setup with the Oculus Rift is showing stuttering performance and substantial drop in framerate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from True qualityThis is now my 5th ThinkPad (this time a P52) and I would never choose anything else. The mechanical quality is outstanding. Thankfully the machine is shipped almost 'bare' with no bloatware or buy-this-now-software installed. It is super stable and blazing fast. What is missing is a mechanical privacy shield over the camera. But I can't think of anything else. It is truly a well designed product for business users in need of high performance. I would recommend the purchase of the Thunderbolt 3 Dock (40AN0230EU) as this greatly enhances the connectivity. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A work horse!I received this as a replacement laptop from Lenovo extended warranty insurance. My previous laptop although it was my faithful laptop it died for an unknown and mysterious reason. Lenovo Customer Care was very supportive in doing their best to fix my old faithful laptop, but once all attempts failed they offered to replace it with my now favorite Thinkpad P52. It's responsive and does not lag. Resolution is great. Memory excellent. No lagging with multiple windows open. It has the privacy camera that I really like and use. The battery lasts forever! I can run it 10 hours without needing a charge. Awesome!! This is an excellent work computer where I use it exclusively for medical documentation, create conference workshops, create new forms, create pictures, crop videos, etc...Things that are a little of a disadvantage is the audio is not the best but better than my old faithful laptop; and it is a little heavy, but that's to be expected with a loaded laptop. Lastly, the fingerprint reader is a bit fickle. Overall, I'm extremely happy with my replacement laptop and am extremely pleased with Lenovo Customer Care. Thank you! Impressed by it's performance, keyboard and simplicity, I began researching the various Lenovo models to replace my personal laptop of 11 years. I eventually decided on the P52 and I couldn't be more pleased. It is such a well built machine, which can still be customized. I've added a 500 GB SSD and migrated the OS, which made startup even faster. The fingerprint sensor allows me to go from power to desktop in seconds. Couldnt be happier with a purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid CAD/CAE MachinePurchased this primarily for university and SolidWorks. Got the variant with the Quadro P1000 which is a very durable a fast machine for professional workloads. Light gaming\ can also be done on here, but not at any real graphically intensive settings. All in all, it comes with a great feature set, is extremely durable, great cooling, but is a bit bulky for a 15.6" device.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfact mobile workstationI used to use the ThinkPad T series and I love them very much, and now comparing all kinds of mobile computer, just for lightness, I chose the surface, but for the big work, I'm sure the ThinkPad, P52 is the first choice, with the right weight, the good screen, the stable performance, and the fluency that doesn't crash. Better Performance than the current office desktop computer in use, very like this product, thank you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Virtual Machine Workhorse.I love the ThinkPad line. I purchased the P52 with 64 GB of memory. I'm running Windows 10 on the base system, a Windows Server 2019 virtual machine running an instance of SQL Server 2017 Developer and a Windows 10 Professional virtual machine where I do most of my work. This Windows 10 VM is where I install all of my software for my consulting work. This configuration allows me to keep the OEM Windows installation clean, since I do not install software there. I install it in the VM and I'm able to delete the VM and reinstall a fresh copy of Windows for my next contract. The machine is handling everything, flawlessly. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beast machineI bought ThinkPad P52 as a replacement for my older notebook, because I needed something with better performance for my 2 virtual machines, which I use for demostration of big warehouse information system. At first I wanted something small, portable, with good battery, preferably convertible with touchscreen. But soon I realized that performance and mobility doesn't fit together. And in the field of great performants I've chosen P52 in it's "basic" version with i7-8750, 16GB of RAM and FHD non-touch screen. At first I wasn't so sure about my decision because this machines is even heavier and bigger than my previous laptop, but I was choosing based on great reviews of it's performance. And boy, I don't regret it. This machine is a BEAST! I upgraded RAM to 24GB, what is super easy job thanks to 4 RAM slots (2 of them free in my config) and I'm really happy I've chosen this piece of muscle instead of something smaller. Just to sum it up. Performance is great, battery lasts easily for 5-6 hours with 2 virtual machines running, build quality is superb and I can't think of any negatives right now. I fully recommend this machines to anyone who needs powerfull laptop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable PerformerBeen using this P52 for some heavy CAD lifting, and it's been solid as a rock. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lenovo P52 is a great home workstationI'm really impressed with the Thinkpad P52. The keyboard is the best I've ever used on a laptop. Graphics performance with CAD programs like Fusion360 is very responsive. Battery life is pretty reasonable (I'm getting 6 hrs of general use, even using wifi). It isn't the lightest laptop I've used, but it's still relatively portable and adding an additional 8 GB of memory and an NVMe SSD is easy because it has screw panels, not plastic tabs. Rated 5 out of 5 by from It’s a killer machine and a beast. My recent purchase was initiated and completed after months of research. As always if read reviews you can always find cons, however this is true of all brands and all models. I read many tech reviews by pros and tech companies as well. I’m employed by a giant aerospace company and they (and l) have been using Lenovo IBMs for years. I never had a problem. With that I took the plunge and spent the money on an upgraded P52. Xeon 2.7, 32 g with two m2 one terabyte drives. The machine is unstoppable. Best investment I ever made. It’s worth every penny. Don’t think twice about grabbing a P52 - Just buy it. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great laptop: heavy quant modeling (and games too)This is a great all around laptop, I got the i7-8850H with NVIDIA Quadro P3200, I would have like to get the Xeon, but this video card wasn't an option. I do a lot of heavy quantitative modeling and it has met all my expectations. I wanted an optical drive but, that wasn't an option. I had seen a lot of videos and reviews on it, one said the glossy screen was bad in light, it isn't. The screen is actually very nice in all conditions. All in all, I think it'll be a laptop I have for the next several years. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If you want and expect the best, buy the best.Fast, streamline, and built like a Mack Truck. All the reasons I have loved ThinkPads since they were first introduced. The P Series may not be the lightest weight, slimmest or "coolest" line, but it is, for my money, the most solid and best-built Think Pad manufactured by Lenovo. I've had a P50 17-inch for the last 3 years and loved it. When my spouse's machine (also a Lenovo) needed updating after almost 8 years, I knew the P52 was the right machine. Completely satisfied on all fronts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy , Fast and EfficientI own a small film production co and travel a great deal. Having a quality and sturdy laptop is essential. This P52 although not the lightest packs more of what I need than any other laptop in the field so far as I have found. The P52 easily handles the entire Avid Media Composer suit and with the legacy ports I never worry about if the location has the necessary externals required ie: monitor, printers, iot connection (HMDI, USB/firewire, Ethernet) and plenty of them. This is a sturdy machine that keeps up with me in the office, home and on the go. Intel i7-8850H, UHD graphics 360.I've not encountered any problems with it no matter how hard I've pushed. The price is right. The quality is there. I definitely recommend this machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every dollarI primarily use this laptop for school and for occasional light gaming. It serves me well for gaming and is amazingly fast when I have to run heavy programs for school. Although it is a bit on the heavy side when carrying it around in your backpack, it still offers amazing portability. The keyboards have a nice feeling to them and the power lasts more than enough for a day's usage in school. Definitely would recommend to university students, especially design students who need a lot of RAM and a nice graphics card, or to engineering students running heavy simulations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mobile with workstation powerThe hardware is really nice. SSD is a new thing for me, but I like it alot. I wanted a laptop that would support running multiple VMs and this is handling that well. I didn't get the high-res screen or high end video, but for what I want to do, those weren't necessary. The primary fly in the ointment is UEFI and windows-only support. I was finally able to get linux installed, and it runs well, but it was a challenge. I would have paid extra to have a linux install out of the box. The P52 is billed as a mobile workstation and it meets that description well. It travels well and provides the power to do everything I've asked of it so far. (except the fingerprint reader). [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Proper workstationII love almost everything about this laptop, build quality, i'm thrilled with its IO and connectivity, options for upgrade are amazin. I am used to trackpoint, i like it a lot, i hope you don't remove it on any other iteration of any model, trackpad is improved i like having it as an option. Keyboard is comfortable, i like the layout, i use the numeric keyboard on right side a lot, i am bothered when i don't have it, that's why i didn't choose P1 model among other minor details. Fingerprint reader works OK, it could be a lot faster and more precise, backlight on keyboard is bleading a bit too much on side of the buttons, iam not always looking at my keyboard from the top, it's almost always on an angle. I don't like the fact that i don't have a shutter on camera on 4K display option. I didn't like display options that are offered at all. I love the 4K screen, love the color accuracy, brightness etc but i don't like the fact that it has to be glossy and touch screen, i don't need touch screen and that is why i don't want to pay extra for it, i would rather use that funds to purchace more storage or something else. Despite those little details about 4K screen options, fingerprint reader accuracy and keyboard backlight i'm rating ThinkPad P52 model with 5 stars. Those are only details, i got exactly what i expected, proper workstation. Durable, beautiful, upgradable, and most important reliable machine. Thank you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thinkpad P52Purchased my Thinkpad P52 about a month ago. Runs on the warm side but to be expected with a six core processor. The two disappointments were than you cannot order the Xeon processor with the Nvidia Quadro P3200 graphics card. Nor can you upgrade the processor or gpu, due to the fact they both are soldered in. But there are four ram slots and solid state drives are plentiful. Two nvme m.2 slots and one 2.5 inch drive options. Suggest if you want the 4k screen purchase with the initial order because you will have to disassemble the laptop if you want to upgrade after the fact. Also wish there was a way to get the Nvidia Quadro P5200 with this configuration but Lenovo does not offer that option. If those issues are your concern then I would suggest getting the Thinkpad P71 or yet to be released Thinkpad P72. Both of which you can upgrade the gpu.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best 15.6" laptop for the moneyThis is a very good laptop. Very fast, lots of space. The display is amazing! Could use one more USB-3 and one less Type-C, but that's fine. And it's a sort of "future-proofing", as more stuff will be made for that interface anyway. I still use optical disks, and would have loved an option for an internal Blu-ray or UHD drive, but it's fine, I guess. Got a cheap external one that works. The speakers are fine for my purposes. Got headphones for the sensitive stuff anyway. My fingers aren't really meshing with the keyboard yet. Honestly, I liked the Dell keyboard better than this rounded Mac-style stuff. The camera works well and can be used in HD. The mic picks up well. Listen, I looked around for a long while and, in this price range, you can't find a better computer going into the future. I just hope the parts last for the next 8 or nine years. According to the "military" rating, they should, but I treat my stuff sort of rough, so you never know. Rated 5 out of 5 by from ImpressiveSo, I bought this laptop for music production, and maybe 3d modeling. so, CPU and ram intensive, more than anything else. also, was bought for portability. I am judging it on these grounds. Build quality is outstanding. I feel bulletproof with this thing in front of me. when it's folded closed it feels about as sturdy as a cast-iron skillet. The only other thing I've owned that has felt this sturdy, has been a cast iron skillet. Cars feel less durable. Performance, I got it with the smallest SSD for the main drive, and the cheapest HDD for a secondary drive. Installed everything on the 2nd drive because I was afraid of wearing out the SSD from too many read/writes but my friend assures me that's not really a problem with SSDs anymore, so I might replace the HDD with an SSD at a later date. That said, after cleaning it up a bit, the performance has been phenomenal. it boots up in about 5-10 seconds tops. my phone takes longer to reboot. launching a PS4 takes longer. I can turn on the TV, then a video game console, then this laptop, and have a browser open before I'm at any menus for the game console, and have a wiki open on the laptop before the game is at a start menu. that's just for how quickly everythings loading. that's not the hardware performance. So, I said I purchased this for music production. I had a project on my desktop PC, which was an absolute beast when it was new. one part of the song towards the end, just grinded down to 1/3 speed full of "buffer under-runs", with the CPU at 100%. This thinkpad? without any changes, it played buttery smooth. for anyone wanting to know what it was doing to benchmark it, I was using FL Studio, with 2 instances of sytrus being automated, at 64x oversampling, being fed into a 100 band vocoder. if you know what that means, cool. but this thing did it so smooth.Next up, software.windows 10, okay, fine, whatever.Lenovo software. It's bloatware at best, and spyware at worst, and AFAIK there's never been anything risky on thinkpads, just lower end things. I wonder if this will get purged from the review just mentioning that? it can all be uninstalled, but it's finicky. I wanted it gone. would be nice to have it configurable in the order to not have any of that. then again, windows won't really let you uninstall cortana either, just leave it silently watching you. that's not really on lenovo though, I mostly just blame the PRC for that. but it's fine, I guess. you can use easily available tools to automatically remove it, or find guides to remove it, unless you don't care about it, at which point you can ignore this part.Next up, Delivery. They delivered it to me ahead of schedule, during a typhoon. the biggest typhoon on record if i'm not mistaken. Lenovo don't play.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive machine, small packageI spent alot of time selecting a workstation replacement laptop. All of my efforts brought me to the P52 with it's blend of performance and portability. I have been so far very impressed by the computer. My only disappointment is that I don't think I can use a Lenovo smart pen on the screen. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Statistical AnalysisI needed a laptop capable of running statistical analyses on very large datasets (1 million - 10s of millions of variables). In <10 seconds, the 32GB RAM version of the P52 handles lines of codes that would take my previous HP laptop upwards of 5-6 minutes to run. Have been very happy with the purchase thus far. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very unstable laptop! Frequently CrashesI got this laptop as a warranty replacement for my w541 about 2 weeks ago. Worst laptop experience I have ever had. I hope this is just a rare occasion that it only happen to me. But, comparing to the W541 which never crashed on me once, this machine has shown blue screen of death at least 10 times a day. And I am not even kidding. Sometime it just crashes on its on with the code saying "Power Driver State Failure". I have spent days trying fix it my own but no luck. I even fresh installed the whole system. I ran all the diagnostic tools available from Lenovo and Windows. And you wouldn't believe this but this machine crashes while I was typing the reviews. The blue picture is the crash report I get every time. I might do a YouTube review on this laptop to alert consumers of such problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very impressive machineI got my ThinkPad P52 about a month ago. I have been very impressed. I am a piping designer so I work with all kinds of 3D and CAD software. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than I hopedExactly what I was hoping and then some. Even after adding a third drive (another EVO NMe SSD) I still probably saved $1000 versus buying new, and this is a 100% current model. Mine has the 4K. glossy monitor, which made me nervous, as I typically prefer matte. I needed the higher color accuracy and was hoping for touchscreen. For video editing and some CAD work, the increased info on screen (albeit at a size cost) is invaluable in a 15" laptop. My desk computer has three 27" UHD, so moving to the laptop is always a challenge. I have to say the glare has not bothered me one bit (I don't work on this outside) and the image quality is fantastic. I have yet to really challenge the CPU, but it is just as snappy as one would expect from these specs when it comes to Photoshop and some Proprietary CAD-type software. Rated 5 out of 5 by from BEST MACHINE YETI bought my P52 a few weeks ago, and am really pleased. I use Lenovo machines at work, though a lesser model. I've also used a number of different brand PCs over the yearsAfter my work machine (a Lenovo T470s,) crashed a couple of times, I was ready to switch back to a different OS-type of computer and pay a lot more than I was planning on spending.Instead, I did my homework and landed this P52 with Intel i7 quad-core CPU, 16 GB DDRAM, 512 GB SSD, and a ton of other fantastic features, including numerous USB ports, SD drive (for my photography,) and more. This thing is a MONSTER and I love it!Screaming fast, dependable, the best.So glad I did it. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very powerful, but with clunky trackpad / keyboardThis machine is best used with a docking station. It's just as powerful as advertised (better than I expected, actually), but the trackpad is much worse than the standard Thinkpad trackpad, and the "almost full size" keyboard doesn't add much over the standard Thinkpad keyboard. However, it should work really well as a desktop workstation (with external controls), that can occasionally be dragged around with you.PS: It can NOT be charged via USB C. It seems that it's power draw while running is more than the USB C spec can support.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from P52 Power HouseI have always wanted a ThinkPad. It was time to move away from Apple so I began to seatch Lenovo ThinkPads. I came across the P52 mobile workstation and ordered the PC. I absolutly love it. Plenty of storage and performance. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top of the line performance with the best priceI bought two HP laptops the same time I bought the Lenovo. The HPs are good laptops. But neither can hold a candle to the performance of the Lenovo. It has handled serious video editing without a problem. Additionally, its heavier and veru sturdy. Unlike the HP which is the usual fragile plastic that has plagued many electronics today.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing power and portabilityI bought one of these for our Global Comptroller last year and their feedback was so amazing I decided to change my entire IT department to the P52. The power of this laptop is inanse! The Xeon processor crunches like nothing I've ever seen, the P2000 graphics make rendering a breeze, the expandability is second to none. I have 9 monitors plugged into my machine and it never misses a beat! Combined with the M.2 drives and this beast doesn't have any limits. Whether it's intense 3D projects, massive spreadsheets, or processor intensive work loads, there is literally nothing this machine can't handle. It even plays games in brilliant clarity and smoothness. Get this laptop. You won't be disappointed. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quite the little power stationI was contemplating between actual desktop but I ended up getting the P52 as it's handy to have the workstation with you in conferences and such. The reason why I chose P52 over the competitors was the fact that I was able to get an extra 2 TB HDD to store my research data. I won't be needing any external now which is amazing. I do wish they would make a bit smaller version of the screen as well. Other than that the laptop is very responsive, boots up fast and so far the temps are quite low. Rated 5 out of 5 by from First impressions so farI bought this workstation about month ago. As expected, it have nice build quality for thinkpad workstation series. Runs smoothly. I didn't notice any issues with it except for some hotkeys driver(?). Reinstalling it fixed fn keys. Two things could have been better so far: 1. ability to configure it with linux or freedos, since not everyone needs it for windows. 2 option to choose euro/asian power cord through configuration page. I'd prefer carry the right cord in trips rather the loose and unreliable adapter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Game-changer: from behemoth to portable powerPerfect combination of size of power. I had been carrying gaming laptops for years (my job is highly technical while also being C-suite, so I needed a lot of power) but they weighed a ton, their 6-8 hour battery life was roughly 45 minutes in real life, were too big to use on a plane, and wouldn't fit into any carrier/daypack/briefcase except for something custom. My new P52 has only slightly less power, is very light, can fit into virtually any carrier, has a nice long battery life, and can be used on a plane (my prior laptops also exceeded the power draw of any modern jet seat outlet). My old laptops were basically non-portable laptops (which is an oxymoron) unless you were my size (6' 2", 225 lbs), carried a huge daypack, used pen and paper on plane rides, and became a power outlet vampire. My P52 is the perfect balance of power and portability. Couldn't be happier. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid workstation suited for heavy workWas able to upgrade to 64GB RAM and 2TB NVME storage post purchase without voiding the warranty. Built tough, GPU never overheats and CPU Fan is controllable in GNU/Linux while Intel lets you undervolt the CPU in Windows only. I would give 5 stars if I could undervolt and control the GPU fan speed in GNU/Linux, or if the fan curve was set to prefer cooler operation (nobody really cares about fan noise). Interface-wise, the screen is crisp, webcam privacy shutter is brilliant, and the keyboard is excellent with the depth of travel and haptics curve that's perfectly suited for typing. I was able to render 4K video on RAM without any hiccups. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it !I bought this laptop about 3 weeks ago. I enjoyed every single moment spent using it. Great esthetics! The i7-8850 is super fast. Also love the expansion capability that P52 has to offer. Basically you get dektop performance in a laptop chassis. A 'power house' would feat the description fully. The typing experience is also very pleasent due to the thinkpads world class keyboard. This model comes with a numpad making it easier working with large amount of numbers. My display has only 300 nits of brightness and I believe that to be good enough for every user unless the 4K (500 nits is needed. I purchased this laptop with the intent of long-term and intense use. The only downside Is the battery life, but to be expected with the high performance of P52. However, there 's a solution to this by getting another extra battery and changing it when needed. P52 is one of the few laptops that still has an external battery. Definitely recommend it to power users!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great workstationI'm an MEP coordination manager and must visit multiple worksites with the ability to manipulate very large models. The p52 is perfect. Not too large, not too heavy, not too expensive but extremely fast and powerful. I love the p3200. Autodesk still hasn't tested the latest drivers and I had to manually uninstall the factory versions but the 419.17 that I'm using now is performing well. I also filled the last two RAM slots for a total of 64G. When 32G sticks become affordable, the p52 will recognize 128G RAM! The best feature is the second M.2 HDD slot. Again a simple upgrade. Plug and play baby. Get one with a 250G hdd and drop a 1TB drive next to it, clone the system over and off you go. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Laptop setup is quick and painlessLove the fingerprint security feature. P52 is quick and its doing the job as expected. I am still getting familiar with this laptop and getting things setup. The basic setups were painless and easy to do. I will be using this for Music production and so forth. Lots of work to do but I am excited. P52 is handling well. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ThinkPad P52 is THE laptop to haveI purchased Thinkpad P52 to use in civil engineering and architecture related work. The workstation's performance goes above and beyond my expectations. I usually run computationally heavy programs such as Autocad and finite element software at the same time, and the computer does not even slow down. The graphics card of the computer is amazing, it can run 4k-12k definition videos at the greatest quality, and without heating up. The computer is also a well built piece of hardware with a very sturdy chasis and an amazing keyboard. Definitely a reliable computer built for high performance work that is going to lasta long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall, pretty goodThe keyboard is a little weird but overall it is good. My only issue is that I attempted to hook it up to my ASUS monitors at home and the Thinkpad would not recognize my monitors. Is this something that can be frixed or do I need to purchase a new model. If I need to purchase a new model monitor can you give me a model and price?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best laptops ever!I did a lot of research into laptops before settling on the P52. I didn’t care about portability as much as certain features. I wanted more than 32G of RAM, RAID 0 capable NVME,4K screen.I installed 64G of RAM, two 1TB Samsung 970 Pro NVME drives, and a 1TB 2.5” SSD. The tricky part was removing the keyboard to get at 2 of the 4 RAM slots.I installed Arch Linux on it, with BTRFS RAID 0 for the two NVME drives. The LTS kernel has trackpad issues, but the latest 4.20 kernel works like a champ. The pros for this machine... gorgeous 4K display, very fast at my typical tasks, it’s upgradable, and the keyboard is one of the best I ever used. The fans are quiet. The build quality is as good as Apple’s.The cons... thick (it’s no ultrabook), it’s a bit on the heavy side, and the RAM access under the keyboard is not easy. This laptop is so good, I may never need a new one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Súper fasterJust one week using it, it works super faster and silencly, you can not hear the fan cooler noise which is great. It is quite heavy, I don't have a problem with that but it could be a problem for people with health problem related to carry on heavy things.

An incredible portable workstation especially for road warriors and/or system architects designing systems in a ready to deploy virtualization environment. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent workstationWe purchased a P51 last year to run our daily accounting software for our business. We were so impressed with the speed we decided it was time to upgrade one of our older laptops we use for our design software. The P52 is nothing short of a monster. Where our old system would lag with rendering 3D models the P52 doesn't miss a beat. It doesn't appear to even slow down. I will only be buying ThinkPad's from now on!!! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lenovo P52 w/ Xeon, 64GB Ram, 2TB M.2 + 500GBI am really enjoying this laptop. I use it for work and home and so far it is performing as expected. I use this to run VMWare Workstation for windows and I have had four running simultaneously with no issues. I haven't checked the processor usage yet so I can't comment on that. I did upgrade this to 64GB of ram and it does have the Xeon 6 core processor and runs very fast. It starts up VM's quick. It seems a bit slow when I suspend them but I am not sure if that is due Workstation or the laptop. I also upgraded to two M.2 1TB sata drives and was extremely happy to see that Lenovo put the base Windows 10 OS on one of those verses the 500GB spinning drive. In fact it is the 3rd drive so I may just buy an SSD and replace it. System boots fast, and it is really quite. I generally charge my laptop to 100% and then let the battery cycle down to 20% or so before recharge and I am getting 6+ hours of use. I did not upgrade to the 4K screen. I used another laptop with that and when using VMWare the text was annoyingly small. The screen I have is sharp and no glare or reflectivity (is that a word?) in the office or home environment. I haven't used it with a lot of direct sunlight though. It feels solid and well built and I appreciate the case design where I have access to the memory and drives without having to pop the case open. Thank you! I have been using this now for 3 weeks and give it 5 stars. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lenovo - ThinkPad P52P52 spec out:- I7 8750H- Nvidia Quadro p1000- 16 GB ram- 512 SSD- 4K touch screen 60 HzI am a Computer science major in college and I needed a reliable and fast laptop that I knew I could count on for hopefully a few years. The P52 brings power and versatility, maybe a slightly bulky design but, if it’s a little bit thicker and can handle more of a load I’m fine with it. I’ve been working on some basic school items just to test the computer limits and these are my finding:Pros:- when doing CPU intensive work it handles like a champ.- The screen is absolutely gorgeous when watching 4k drone footage- Battery life is faring good for most of the work that I’ve been doing- I personally love how sturdy the keyboard is especially while typing for hours - Full num pad is a must for meCons:- p1000 does not like games, that’s the bottle neck (was expecting so it’s ok)- Does get a bit toasty when running intense things- Fans can get kinda noisy but, with noise canceling headphones it’s okThings that aren’t good or bad:- Speakers, they are pretty good for built in- Fan control in the Lenovo Vantage would be nice but it’s ok [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from P52 ThinkpadBought the ThinkPad 52 after a couple of bad experiences with Dell. I use MasterCam 2019, and this machine runs the program superbly. Even when multitasking, I'm very surprised in the performance. No lags or glitches. It does get a bit hot so I bought a fan pad to cool it. So far so very good!
