Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works okay, disconnects randomly when idle. The docking station has plenty of ports and performs well when actively using your laptop. I've noticed however that if you leave your laptop idle or alone, the docking station can begin to randomly disconnect. The only to resolve this is to physically disconnect the docking station, then re-connect the USB-C cable. I've also applied the latest firmware available for this device, but I still have the same symptoms.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not much of a dock, really. This dock falls short of the old-style Thinkpad docks in two areas- it does not provide power for my laptop, and it doesn't allow me to use my discrete graphics (NVIDIA with the external monitors. Actually, it's not much use at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Glitchy Doesn't manage two screens and my laptop screen very well. Constantly plugging and unplugging it for it to recognize both screens and apply the proper scaling. It is as if it doesn't remember my settings for the monitors from the previous time it was plugged in.

I wish there were more outlets and that there was compatibility with older models (so I could just plug my older personal computer as well). Also, ideally, would be great to have the docking station support power for monitors and printers (to avoid having to connect them directly to power and thereby reducing the clutter caused by the many cables).

Does not work with latest laptops like T14 A month ago I bought a Lenovo system comprising of a T14 Gen1 AMD Thinkpad, the Hybrid USB-C dock and a Thinkvision T27 to work from home due to the coronavirus. The dock seems to connect fine at first, but when I close the lid the T14 restarts regardless of the W10 power settings. Latest drivers and firmware are installed on all machines. Furthermore it fails to drive the monitor to its proper resolution, even though the T14 performs flawlessly when it is connected directly to the monitor via USB-C alone. The Lenovo technician acknowledged the problem and nothing new since then. They say they are waiting for instructions from the USA. I asked for a different (cheaper) replacement dock as a loaner until they sort out what is wrong with the one I got, they say it is not possible. Service ticket is open for three weeks and no indication where we are going with it.

Directions for set up was confusing as to which connection to use. Dock will not allow ethernet connection to cover over to computer once the SIM card was installed. USB device for remote keyboard and mouse only works on computer.

Basically several times throughout a day the dock’s output would freeze and “crash” back to the laptop screen. I updated my laptop (X1 Extreme) to have the latest drivers including BIOS and thunderbolt firmware (I know this dock is USB-C only). I even updated the firmware on the dock with no improvement. I could never pinpoint if there is a consistent theme for the dock’s failure. Sometimes it is when I initiate a download, surf to a website, or open an application. The dock seems to be well built. Super solid. The number of I/O on it is abundant for anyone’s needs. I love the fact it charges the laptop via USB-C. Just bad drivers or maybe something wrong with the internal hardware.

I appreciate this, especially since I am limited on newer technology. I am able to connect all USB devices, and back up devices as well as up to 2 monitors. I appreciate the convenience and quality.

When switched to USB-A connection the monitors and USB ports work but I have to power the laptop with a separate power cord. Not a complete solution.

Having to quickly transition from working in my office to only working at home was made so much easier with the ThinkPad Hybrid USB-C docking station. Now my workspace is set up with my printer, scanner, and monitor, plus I have additional ports to charge things like my Fitbit... which really isn't getting any use now that I'm stuck at home in this chair in front of this great workspace working 24/7. So anyway, yes, it's a great product and highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Upgraded to Hybrid USB-C is a definite winner Upgraded my USB dock from the USB 3.0 dock to this Hybrid USB-C dock. Connected to my T480s. Having the USB-C (the one cable that does it ALL!) is a nice upgrade and makes my connection/disconnection that much simpler. Plus the connection is more stable than the USB 3.0 docking and the drivers seem to work seamlessly with the laptop. USB 3.0 dock was very nice but had some connectivity issues. I have experienced none of those with the Hybrid USB-C dock. And as a "lay flat" versus sitting upright, with the various cables attached it is more stable and not prone to tipping over if something tugs at one of the cables. Very much worth the upgrade for me.
