Product Overview

The JBoss Enterprise SOA Platform includes service-oriented architecture (SOA) open source middleware such as JBoss Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), workflow for Java developers based on jBPM, a business rules engine based on Drools, and the JBoss Enterprise Application Platform to integrate applications, services, transactions, and business components into automated business processes.
The JBoss Enterprise SOA Platform enables enterprises to integrate services, handle business events, and automate business processes more efficiently, linking IT resources, data, services and applications across the value chain. Unlike other offerings, the open source components can be used individually, together, or with third party components to better suit evolving development needs.
The JBoss Enterprise SOA Platform provides the integration and SOA fabric to build enterprise SOAs that allow businesses to gain competitive advantage. By allowing a business to automate business processes, facilitate human participation in business processes, and connect the full value chain, the JBoss Enterprise SOA Platform enables enterprises to optimize business performance.
Many IT organizations look to achieve a competitive advantage for the enterprise by improving business productivity and reducing costs. Today's top enterprises are realizing this goal by deploying departmental, functional-area and enterprise-wide ESBs, business process integration and automation systems, and SOA integration platforms within their IT infrastructure. While many of today's packaged ESBs, process servers and BPM systems help enterprises deploy SOA to improve business process execution, only the JBoss Enterprise SOA Platform can deliver the benefits of a no license fee, subscription-based solution built on a flexible and scalable underlying platform.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The class loader isolation is good, but the deployment of data sources could be improved. Valuable Features:The class loader isolation is good.Room for Improvement:The deployment of data sources could be improved.Use of Solution:I've used it for one and half years.Deployment Issues:No issues encountered.Stability Issues:This depends on the load of the server. We did have some issues mainly because of the application itself.Scalability Issues:No issues encountered.Customer Service:I've not used customer service.Technical Support:I've not used technical support.Previous Solutions:We switched because of the nature of the application and technology.Initial Setup:I always design my systems simple and keep them simple as possible.Implementation Team:We implemented it with in-house team. We like to keep the knowledge in-house.ROI:It was crucial and it definitely paid off.Cost and Licensing Advice:Keep the systems simple. Try to work with open-source solutions andpay for technical support and subscription to support the projects.Other Solutions Considered:Yes, I always and regularly evaluate. In case of Java, we evaluated all applications servers which support JEE full profile.Other Advice:I was using Apache Tomcat, JBoss AS (RedHat), WebMethods (Software AG) and IIS (Microsoft). All of them have they specialities, but depending on the goals and purpose it’s quiet easy to make a choice. Products based on Microsoft .NET do not give companies lot of options; either with Server Operating System shipped IIS, or the developer version called IIS Express. Applications written in Java, n opposite, can be accommodated on several fully profiled or non-fully-profiled application or web servers.Only have one application per server if possible. Do not over complicate it, and keep the variance in the configuration simple as possible.Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.
