Yes, I do buy single cartridges, but only when I have the time. I have never had a problem with any of the HP cartridges.

Rated 5 out of 5 bymarvinz from worst ink cartridges and printer I ever usedi bought and installed new printheads and combo pack of ink, printer went through it's diagnostics and the printer said alignment failed, performed the steps that HP has posted for aligning printheads. I opened the HP utility, it showed the the printheads as fair and yellow cartridge almost empty, the cyan and magenta as half empty, the black was still working, tried again to align printheads and it would not allow me to do be because the yellow was empty, I pulled the yellow cartridge out and it indeed was empty. the cartridges say they will print 900 pages- this a joke because i could not print the equivalent of 3 or 4 pages before it was empty. There adds say that the 8000 series printers are very economical in terms of cost per page. Since i have had the 8500 i have printed less than 500 pages but i've had to replace the cartridges at least 4 times.I have lost faith in HP printers and do not recommend them to anyone

This past week, I had wireless internet installed in my house and wanted to use the wireless printing feature. I called HP's customer service line hoping that I had enough customer support time left and I did! The representative from HP walked me through each set and waited on the line till a wireless print was made. I paid a little more for my HP Officejet Pro 8500A, but I got more that what it's worth in customer service, printing quality, and speed. Did you know that if you don't like something you can exchange/return it within a certain time frame? Did you know they have an upgrade your old HP for a newer one? Yeah, they do! I've upgraded three times over the past 10 years and I LOVE MY NEW PRINTER! I print what I need to print and don't over do the image printing. The separate inks save me a bunch of money in the long run. I'm no longer throwing out ink cartridges with 20% left in the color ink department just because I ran out of the black ink. Smile.Additionally, HP has a VIP program (and online coupon codes) for you to stock up on ink (before you run out) at a great deal. Smile. I recommend that you try out their customer service for any/all feature assistance you may need. You get what you pay for... and that's Excellence! Enjoy~ Stacey from sunny Florida.
