2D bar code is becoming increasingly popular across a wide range of industries for a number of reasons. Some enterprises have a desire to capture large amounts of data, despite space constraints, while others are being required to read 2D bar code due to government regulations or supplier mandates. And an even larger group of enterprises simply have the desire to leverage emerging trends that require area-imaging technology, today or in the future, without needing to purchase additional scanning hardware.

Does not scan 2D as sold
This barcode scanner, does not scan 2D barcodes as sold. If you try to scan 2D, it does not work. After being on the phone with Honeywell, they are unable to sell us the 2D enable the 2D functionality. CDW did not inform us of this prior to the completion of our purchase. Further, the tech specs are misleading as they imply that this unit is able to scan 2D right out of the box.
Had I known this was the case, I would have not wasted my companies time with this useless item. I would have purchased one that had implicitly allowed 2D scanning immediately.
This experience will probably deter us from purchasing from CDW or a Honeywell product again.

Does not scan 2D Images
After purchasing 3 Voyager 1400Gs with different part numbers to include this one, I discovered the only Voyager 1400G that will scan 2D images without further programming is the 1400G2D-2USB CDW part number: 2768669. The 1400G2-2USB will also scan QR code images from mobile phones. If you are only looking for a barcode scanner to scan single images, then this product does an excellent job.
