Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mediocre I have experience with 4 MX500s (CT500, CT1000, and two CT2000s). Here are the results I have from my testing... CT1000 Write: 439 Read: 519 CT1000 Write: 440 Read: 459 CT2000 Write: 430 Read: 461 CT2000 Write: 440 Read: 459 CT500 Write: 355 Read: 520 The CT500 read is an acceptable speed but Samsung EVOs get another 13-15 MB/s, but the writes are just SLOW. All of these are faster than HDDs to they are alright for an inexpensive improvement to HDDs. My testing was done with AJA System Performance Tester LITE 12.4.3 and the setting were, Resolution: 4K-Full, File Size: 64GB, Codec: ProRes 4444, Cache: Disabled, Video File: Movie. The test host was a 2020 27" iMac with 10 cores and 128GB RAM running macOS 11.6.1

Beyond a bandaid, it's like a brand new system!! Crucial "suggested" a 1TB SSD but I opted for a 2TB since I was going through the motions anyway. Sooooo glad I did! I am not overly tech savvy but know enough for a simple DIY and this was easy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Swap for my PS4 Slim I like to buy most of my PlatStation 4 games digitally, and in doing so, a 1TB Drive can fill up pretty fast. After some research I stumbled across this Crucial MX500 2TB Drive, and noted the price. Was pretty much an instant buy. You will need the included spacer for the PS4, but the dimensions are perfect and everything lined up as expected. After Downloading my games, I would have to say I noticed a decent improvement in loading Digitally Stored games, maybe saves 5-15 seconds at launch (depending on the game), plus in-game loading is close to nonexistent. It has "some" effect on games played from the disc, especially when large files need to be installed on the machine to play off the disc. Note to those buying this for PS4... make sure you download the current software install from Sony onto a USB Flash Drive as you will need it once you boot this machine from a blank Hard Drive. The whole process from starting installation to seeing my home screen took all of 35 Minutes.

You used Smartpost to ship. The USPS is not reliable for shipping. If you had explained that delivery would be by pack mule, I would have paid for express shipping. I believe the estimated time on the free shipping was 5 to 7 days!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product, worked better than I hoped. I bought the 2tb unit to upgrade my 6 year old Lenovo laptop. It was slowing down even though it had a 1tb HDD. It has 16g ram, 64bit, i5 possessor. With the new SSD it boots much quicker, runs common tasks quicker and just overall feels like a new machine. Plus I doubled my storage capacity. I'm very satisfied with the whole purchase and I would recommend it to anyone who is in the market to upgrade their computer. And to top it off, they give you links to the software to do the cloning operation. AAA+++ Thanks.

Really disappointed with device failure in less than 2 months, RMA requires customer to pay for postage, it takes at least 2 weeks to get a replacement and there is very little communication from the company unless the customer chases them. Really very disappointed, how long will the replacement last I ask, i'm not confident in the quality now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Product and support failed I tried to clone my hard drive to this SSD using the software provided, after which it said to restart computer to complete operation. From that point on the SSD would not be detected on that computer or any computer. Support merely ran me through a series of meaningless steps apparently not understanding that the drive was simply not detectable. When I finally convinced them that I wanted a refund and I returned the drive, they sent me another one, so I then had to repeat the RMA process. I got a Samsung SSD and the cloning process was flawless. I would not recommend Crucial SSDs based on my experience.

Problem was it was not compatible with my system. After following the directions fully ( twice) I had to pay a restocking fee plus shipping to send back. And not buy a different manufactures SSD card that will work. Buyer beware.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mechanical failure of connector Well, I heard these drives weren't so bad, and I got a 2Tb model for auxiliary storage. As I was plugging it in, it had a rather firm connection to the SATA cable, and the connector snapped off when I was trying to remove it. Compared to a Samsung 2.5" SSD I bought, the connector appears to be built differently. Looks more flimsy, weak to up or down stresses placed on the connector (what it needs to be strongest against) The board inside looked as though the ... tac welds? Whatever holds the connector tabs down to the PCB had ripped off easily. Consequently, the data and power pins may also have been ripped off the board. I attempted to resolder the connector and solder the data and power pins on, but it wasn't making a connection.

This is my fourth or fifth Crucial replacement SSD for spinning drives in laptops in the last 5 years. All Crucial replacements have been free of defects and reliable. Instructions are clear. Installation and restore to this SSD was efficient. Performance has been very effective over slower speeds that I was experiencing prior to my HDD failure. The CDW customer representative (Jay) was very helpful in narrowing down my choices and he engaged a technical specialist who could answer all of my technical questions about compatibility and installation for my desktop computer model.

Once it was completed it worked like a charm, startup was half the normal time, desktop populated almost instantly. Was so impressed I bought a 2nd one two weeks ago to load my music samples. Would and will purchase again, the second purchase was $25 less than the first one-loved that. Would highly recommend this SSD. Now just have to setup a backup plan for my system. Word to the wise - - always backup your data files that you create in case something happens to your source.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2nd drive was the charm I originally bought this MX500 SSD from a Big Box store for a Christmas gift for a family computer. Due to holiday travel, we didn't get it installed until a couple of weeks later. It lasted for only a day; somehow its magic leaked out during it's first night installed, and we discovered it dead in the morning. At that point we were beyond the store's return window, so we RMA'ed it with Crucial. That was a reasonably easy process other than being without the drive for another week or so. The new one came, and has worked well since. We use this drive for secondary storage, such as photos, videos, and non-demanding games that don't need to be on my higher-performance primary drive. Assuming the first one was a rare fluke, I would buy this drive again. The value for the price paid is good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product for the money I love these hard drives by crucial. I started with the 500 GB version and as I filled that up I went to the 1 TB and now to the 2TB. These are great drives for all uses. Very reliable, never had an issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great SSD, Would not boot windows 10 Upgraded a HP Desk top running Windows 10, Cloned several times with Acronis software but would not boot up Windows. Had to buy Aomie software, super easy to use and cloned and worked great 1st time.
