Cisco On-Demand Ports License activation

Increase the size of SAN connectivity with the On-Demand Activation Licensing program, enabling users to purchase and activate the ports as needed. Customers can buy a small number of activated ports and still benefit from Cisco® MDS 9000 SAN-OS software functions. Using the Cisco on-demand ports license activation ensures customers have more flexibility to determine the number of ports to activate as needed. The remaining ports become activated if the user decides the correct course of action to take.

Customers have 24 ports to activate in increments of eight ports to accommodate small, midrange and large enterprises. By default, the Cisco switch software license applies to all ports for dependability. However, users can reassign or move licenses to every eligible port on the Switch. Also, users can make ports ineligible to receive a license without transferring it to another port, so the customer stays in control of the network functions.
