Cisco ISR C892FSP Router - 8 Port is rated 4.50 out of 5 by 45.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A stable enterprise routing solution with good support What is our primary use case? I use Cisco Enterprise Routers for connectivity. I have five branch sites and a headquarters. We use these routers for connectivity between the branch sites and the headquarters where I'm using SAP. What is most valuable? I like that Cisco Enterprise Routers is a stable solution. Their technical support is also really good. What needs improvement? It would be better if Cisco Enterprise Routers were more secure. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using Cisco Enterprise Routers for about 11 years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Cisco Enterprise Routers is a stable solution. They are stable enough, and they have been serving us well for the past ten years. We haven't found any issues with them. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Cisco Enterprise Routers is scalable, but their legacy routers aren't that scalable. However, they have been serving us pretty well over the years. We have about 4,000 users at the moment. How are customer service and technical support? Cisco's tech support has been really good. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is straightforward, and it's easy to install. It takes less than an hour to implement this solution. We have a technical team with about 20 people maintaining this solution. What about the implementation team? We implemented this solution by ourselves. Which other solutions did I evaluate? I only evaluated Fortinet. There's tough competition between Fortinet and Cisco, but we opted for Cisco. What other advice do I have? I would probably recommend this solution to new users. On a scale from one to ten, I would give Cisco Enterprise Routers an eight. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? On-premises Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly stable, scalable, and great performance What is our primary use case? Cisco Enterprise Routers can be used for network connectivity. You are able to connect two networks together, such as an enterprise to the cloud. What is most valuable? The solution has great performance. What needs improvement? The solution could improve by having multiple features inclusive of the router, such as a free firewall and VPN. Additionally, it should be a generic box that can act as a router, firewall, and switch. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Cisco Enterprise Routers for approximately 12 years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Stability is one of the strongest elements of Cisco Enterprise Routers, they are highly stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The solution is scalable. We have approximately 300 users using the Cisco Enterprise Routers. How are customer service and technical support? There have been some challenges with the technical support. The first level of customer support is not good, you need to escalate it to a higher level to get a resolution. The first level of support could be more knowledgeable and faster. How was the initial setup? The installation is not easy, it required someone with a lot of expertise. What about the implementation team? We use one technician that can manage approximately 10 routers. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? There is a license required for the use of this solution. What other advice do I have? I would recommend this solution to others. I rate Cisco Enterprise Routers a nine out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? On-premises Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Helps us secure and separate our network with a router to install our internet gateway What is most valuable? We use this solution to secure and separate our network. We use the router to install the internet gateway. What needs improvement? When there is a problem, it hampers the scope of work. So if they could reduce the response time, it'll be helpful to us. In addition, the UI could be more user-friendly. For how long have I used the solution? We have been using this solution for the last two years. It is deployed on-premises. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It is a stable solution. Cisco devices are very stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? It is very scalable. We have two sites, our head office site and our factory site. We have a total of about 1600 users on the factory site. We only require four to five people for maintenance, and the maintenance has different levels, admin, physical and support maintenance. There are three people in admin maintenance and three to four in support and other maintenance. How are customer service and support? We have not used any technical support from Cisco. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We used Cisco Router 2911 before this. How was the initial setup? There was some complexity in setting up the existing network to the new network. It took almost six months to implement. However, the timeline was impacted by COVID. There were no issues with the product, but the issue was upping the tunnel and upgrading systems. Our vendor and partner helped us with installation. The vendor did the initial configuration, and now we are taking care of the maintenance. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? I rate the pricing a seven out of ten. What other advice do I have? I rate the solution a nine out of ten. Disclaimer: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer:Partner

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top-notch security with a simplified process for branching and networking What is our primary use case? Our company was contracted to change switches and routers for government offices, clinics, police departments, and armed forces. The solution was part of a massive upgrade in technology government-wide and we were one of many subcontractors working on the project. How has it helped my organization? Our country is five or ten years behind in technology and generally slow to react. Cisco partnering with our government was very important because it motivated us to learn the solution, expand our portfolio, and move technology forward while serving as expert technicians for deployments and maintenance. What is most valuable? The solution provides the best security available and simplifies the process for branches and networking. What needs improvement? The solution is difficult to implement without a broad knowledge base. Subnetting for large organizations is complicated because you must understand the company hierarchy before starting to subnet. The process can be difficult so it helps to have experience or rely on other team members for advice. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using the solution for two years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I do not monitor stability in my position but the solution has a reputation for being top-notch so stability must be good. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? I only handled installations but the solution must be scalable because it was deployed across all government offices. How are customer service and support? Supervisors at our company partnered with technical support to ensure seamless implementations. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is complicated and requires knowledge of the solution. We opted to work in teams so we would have more knowledge in the field for implementations. Each site team consisted of 14 technicians and there were more than 1,000 technicians across all sites. We first analyzed existing routers and switches to provide supervisors with a list of equipment to be replaced. We then prepared installation and configuration plans to ensure seamless implementations. What about the implementation team? Our company replaced old hardware and worked in partnership with Cisco to configure and implement the solution. Implementation and maintenance requires two to four technicians. What was our ROI? It helped our company to learn the solution and partner with the government which includes some of the largest organizations in our country. Which other solutions did I evaluate? Cisco has a partnership with our government and provides the main solution in Botswana. No other options were evaluated because our government believes that Cisco provides the best security in a comprehensive package that matches desired standards. What other advice do I have? I rate the solution a ten out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Allows us to configure NAS through Cisco activities and to create GRE channels with different sites What is our primary use case? The major purpose of our using Cisco Enterprise Routers is to terminate the 0.2 internet links because we don't use net features on the router. We prefer to configure NAS and other publishing through Cisco activities. We use the routers to create GRE channels with our different sites. We use Cisco routers, firewalls, switches, and the Cisco Eyes and NAT solution in our environment. I have also done some R&D to implement mass cloud infrastructure for my client. We're using the ISR series at the moment. The version is 4451 or 4431. These are public routers. We have permitted our major internet links on these routers. This is an edge device for my organization. Normally, the enterprise company has one or two Cisco routers because they use it for internet termination and PLS termination. I am using version 16.4 of the ISR router. What is most valuable? It's highly stable. We rarely see any bugs or abnormalities in our Cisco routers, especially for the ISR series. We have used the ASR 1000, and that was highly stable. What needs improvement? You cannot configure internet policies or other options on Cisco routers. If you have a very limited budget, you can't afford two different pieces of equipment, and you can't afford yearly licensing. I would like Cisco to launch a small business router that has firewall capabilities as well. It would be a great initiative for small businesses. I would like to see two additional features: a remote access VPN with the MFA, multifactor authentication capabilities. At the moment, the ISR series only supports MFA, but not every company likes to use that tool. I think Cisco needs to consider MFA for the remote access VPN and should incorporate other MFA solutions as well. I would also like there to be some firewall features included in the routers. I'm not talking about a full-fledged firewall feature, but a limited set of features that can be used on the small and medium-sized enterprise level. These two features would be a great initiative. I would also like to recommend the licensing feature. Previously, the Cisco licensing model was either a perpetual or annual smart license. Now, Cisco has totally shifted over to the smart licensing feature, and perpetual licenses are about to be eliminated from Cisco. The licensing feature is a bit costly if we compare it to other vendors. The licensing features of the F5 are perpetual, but the support has periodic renewal. The license to use Cisco features like a firewall or the routers are actually yearly based and not perpetual. The lead times are extremely high. Normally, it's six to eight months initially, and they prolong it to up to one year for new device delivery by Cisco. If you say you need a brand new router, switch, or fiber from Cisco within one month, you will never get it, unless some stock is readily available with your vendor. Otherwise, it will initially take six to eight months, and then that will be prolonged to one year. This is what we're experiencing with our clients right now. For how long have I used the solution? I have used Cisco Enterprise Routers since 2012. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? It's highly scalable, but there is some cost involved. If you need one gig throughput, you don't need to procure another offer. You just need to purchase the throughput license, and you can increase the throughput. These are very costly licenses. I would rate the scalability as eight out of ten. How was the initial setup? For the initial setup, I would rate it as 10 out of 10. It's very user-friendly and simple to implement Cisco devices. Deployment didn't take more than one hour. Even the command line is very user-friendly. A layman could very quickly understand Cisco's command line. What about the implementation team? We're an IT consulting company and we have our own engineers to deploy the solution. We provide IT services to the other companies in our country as well. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? There are different series for the routers and different licenses for each series. It depends on which series you're going to choose and which router model you're going to choose in that series. There is a base license, throughput license, and boost performance license. For a boost performance license, the cost is $2,000 to $2,500. There is an additional cost for more scalability. What other advice do I have? I would rate this solution as nine out of ten. I'm only deducting a point because of the licensing cost. Scalability is very costly. Cisco is going to shift to smart licensing, which means you get the license for a specific period of time, and then you need to incur some cost to renew that license. I highly recommend Cisco. It's highly stable and highly scalable, which is the reason why they're unable to fulfill orders globally. Before I would recommend Cisco to someone, I would review the project and business needs. Why do they want to use the Cisco Enterprise router or Cisco equipment? What is the business nature? What are the requirements? What is the budget? These things need to be discussed before suggesting any solution. I am a solution provider, so it's the core business of my company to set up IT infrastructures for the other companies. I always intend to know what kind of business someone is running, what are their prospects, what are the expectations from the infrastructure, and what is the total budget they want to incur on the infrastructure. For a businessman, IT is just an overload. There's a burden on the budget. If you have a garment business and someone suggests that you buy a $4,000 router, you will say, "Why?" First of all, analyze your requirement, business, and network, and then I can suggest the best possible solution. It could be Cisco or another third party because if you say, "I have only $1,000 for this IT infrastructure," you will need to buy switches, the router, and everything else for $1,000. You can't even get a small enterprise router in the $1,000 range from Cisco. Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Provides good performance but could be more secure What is our primary use case? I install this solution for clients. We are a service provider. What is most valuable? The performance is good. What needs improvement? The solution could be more secure. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It's stable. We haven't had any issues. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? It's scalable. How was the initial setup? Installation is simple. What other advice do I have? I would rate this solution seven out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Resilient, reliable, and trusted What is most valuable? Cisco is awesome. Honestly. It's a trusted brand. If you want to set up your network and you have a good night's sleep, you buy Cisco. You know that you set up and go to sleep. That's how awesome it is. I'm biased since I am Cisco certified. I enjoy working with them since it's easy to use them. There are moments when the configuration gets to be a bit complex, and then you need to look for an expert that helps you troubleshoot or maybe set up things where you might not have the proper knowledge. The resilience is great. The equipment is so stable. It will not freeze. When you set up Cisco, you can forget you have a router. Everything just works. Only maybe once in a year, you might think of rebooting it. However, that thing works no matter what. What needs improvement? It only breaks if you're not using an up-to-date version of the iOS or are not doing upgrades. Also you are not refreshing your hardware. With Cisco, when you buy it, you know that for about five to ten years, you will not have issues. These assets, you refresh them and every five to ten years, you should be getting new equipment that is supported. For how long have I used the solution? For me, I’ve used the solution for years. I worked in the past few years in only two different organizations. However, in both, I've been using Cisco. Personally, in total, I’ve used it for 13 to 14 years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is very stable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn’t crash or freeze. It’s reliable. You set it up and forget about it. It lasts forever. How are customer service and support? I haven't interacted with Cisco technical support directly. Many colleagues where I live, and maybe across the country, use Cisco, so when I have an issue I'll just use forums. If I have this issue, I will check on the forum and find a solution without struggling much. That's how it is. I do hear that their support is okay. However, I haven't experienced it directly myself. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I can maybe compare the FortiGate Firewall versus Cisco. Cisco, you need to really understand. You'd have command lines to enter. You can create a rule there and it's very, very easy to use if you know the command line. I'm trying to buy a firewall and I'm looking to buy a FortiGate 200 series. I had to choose between Cisco and FortiGate, however, on the routing and switching, I like Cisco. On the firewall, Cisco is great, I understand, however, maybe it's myself understanding how to do the rules on the Cisco Firepower device better than most. How was the initial setup? With Cisco, depending on what you want, you need to be certified to be able to set up. It's not as easy for newcomers. IT’s only when you know what you're doing, and you understand the Cisco commands that you can set up. I'm Cisco certified, so I find it easy to set up. However, the person who is not certified won't set it up. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Cisco is good in terms of pricing. You get good value for money. They've got different models which come at different prices. If you have a Cisco 3800 router, you may find you are buying it at maybe $4,000 or maybe $3,000. It depends on who's selling. Obviously, the markup is a low code. Sometimes a company exaggerates import duties. If I had to buy directly, it looks cheaper than if I tried to go through a reseller that messes with the costs. What other advice do I have? I’m an end-user. We are using Cisco 800 switches, Cisco 9300 switches, and Cisco 4400 series routers. These are enterprise routers on-premises. Using Cisco is the way to go. The peace of mind you get from having a solution that's reliable is invaluable. You are buying reliability, and around it is the value for your money. As a reliable solution, that's what you want, so that you focus on innovation. You configure it, forget it, and focus on other business activities. I’d rate the solution ten out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? On-premises Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beneficial routing tables, simple firewall, and highly stable What is our primary use case? Cisco Enterprise Routers are helpful to connect customers to service providers. We can use hardware or software, such as SD-WAN. The Cisco antenna for SD-WAN is good. The solution is an easy setup. What is most valuable? The most valuable features of Cisco Enterprise Routers are the routing tables, and backup solutions available for local sites, and you can use it as a router gateway or simple IPS. They have simple firewalls, that we can use rules to filter traffic. What needs improvement? Cisco Enterprise Router's price could improve, they are expensive. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Cisco Enterprise Routers for approximately 15 years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Cisco Enterprise Routers is stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? I have found Cisco Enterprise Routers to be scalable. We have approximately 300 clients using this solution. How was the initial setup? Cisco Enterprise Routers come installed with its OS. They are easy to configure initially. However, it can depend on the design or features that you use. The initial setup is easy and takes approximately five minutes. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? If Cisco Enterprise Routers could be less expensive it would be better. In Turkey, clients prefer cheap solutions, but working solutions. There is a license needed to enable some features. If you want support from Cisco then you need to purchase it. However, it includes operating system upgrades. What other advice do I have? I would recommend this solution to others. I rate Cisco Enterprise Routers an eight out of ten. What is most valuable? It is easy to use and is very solid. What needs improvement? The solution could be priced better because sometimes it is expensive. For how long have I used the solution? We have been using this solution for 18 years and we currently use version 16.6. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The product is very stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The product is very scalable. How are customer service and support? Our experience with customer service and support has been very good. Rated 5 out of 5 by from A consistent solution with a well-made operating system, but room for improvement in scalability and integration What is our primary use case? I use this solution to design and build my network. What is most valuable? The operating system is good and well-made. We have found it to be solid and consistent. What needs improvement? The product would be more scalable if it could operate with other brands. For how long have I used the solution? I have been working with this solution for five years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I would rate the stability of this solution as a four out of five. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? I would rate the scalability as a three out of five. How was the initial setup? The initial setup was easy because we learned about Cisco routers and switches in school, so we are familiar with them and have certification on the equipment. What about the implementation team? The deployment didn't trouble us much. Our in-house IT team of two or three engineers handled it, and it took us about a week. We prepared in advance, and we implemented the configuration once the equipment was acquired. I think it might take two weeks to deploy on a large network. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? We pay for our license annually. If it could be cheaper that would be good, but I would rate it as a four out of five for price, with one being very expensive and five being very affordable. What other advice do I have? I would rate this solution as a seven out of ten. I would recommend this product to others. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to deploy with good virtual routing and good reliability What is our primary use case? We primarily use the solution as a router, for virtual routing connections. What is most valuable? We've been satisfied with the capabilities of the product overall. The virtual routing is very good. It's not complex to deploy. The solution is stable and reliable. It is easily scalable. What needs improvement? The main issue is there is a backlog in terms of getting any hardware. You might have to wait between eight months and a year to get what you need. We'd like to see some better UI. It would make it easier for configuration purposes. A graphical user interface would really help. For how long have I used the solution? I've been working with the solution for 12 years now. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I've never had issues with stability. Cisco routers are very reliable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The solution isn't too scalable. It's not modular. You have to size everything correctly. A lot of people are using the solution. We use it throughout the city. The company itself has about 1000 employees. However, we also have a compound that includes villas and apartments. We are delivering various services using Cisco infrastructure. How are customer service and support? In terms of the technical support by Cisco, if I'm opening a ticket or something, or even if I'm calling them, if I have Smart Care, I would get the support in the next business day. If I receive something damaged as per the contract between Cisco and me, I can get quick help. If even I ask for sizing for a big project, Cisco is going to help. They've already helped us with something similar. They are quite helpful in general. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We use many different Cisco devices. Previously, I used Linksys. However, it was a small household device. How was the initial setup? The solution is very easy to set up and implement. It's not an issue at all. As long as you have a design ready to go, everything can happen very fast. How long it takes to deploy depends on the routing cables that you are going to handle, however, it's not too long. Usually, it's just one day. We have two admins managing the product. Of course, we're getting help from the ISP for managing some devices. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The pricing depends on what Cisco is offering and what is available. Unfortunately, right now, the availability of devices is low right now. It can make it get more expensive. Which other solutions did I evaluate? We are using Cisco now. However, I have heard about Extreme. I'm working to compare Extreme Cloud and Meraki Cloud and want to see what the benefits are. What other advice do I have? We're end-users and customers. I'm the network engineer of Egypt company. I'm responsible for all the infrastructure in the company. I have a lot of Cisco devices. That's what we work with. There are a lot of LAN and WAN and wireless items. Mostly we use the 800 series routers. However, we also have a few 500 series and a 190. I'd recommend the solution. However, it depends on the size of the business you will implement within. Cisco Meraki is also good. I would advise that as it is amazing and easy to deploy. It's very scalable. I would rate this solution eight out of ten. Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An excellent but expensive product that performs well regardless of traffic volume and is better suited to medium to large businesses What is our primary use case? We use this solution for communication between banking branches, and connecting those branches to Head Office. What is most valuable? We appreciate that this solution performs well, regardless of the volume of traffic being fed through it. What needs improvement? The main area for improvement with this product is with the price, which is currently very high compared to the rest of the market. For how long have I used the solution? We have been working with this solution for more than 20 years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? This is a very stable solution. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? We have found this to be a scalable solution. How are customer service and support? The technical support for this solution is very good. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive How was the initial setup? The initial setup for this product is very easy, once some training has taken place. What about the implementation team? We implemented this solution using our in-house team. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? There is a router-only, perpetual license available for this product, but additional features will mean additional charges. What other advice do I have? We recommend this solution for medium to large organizations, as it requires a large financial commitment to work at its best. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Resilient devices with good documentation and helpful support What is our primary use case? The primary use case depends on the customer's kind of business. From my experience, I'm serving clients with the enterprise internet gateway, BGP router, and internal enterprise campus network for our enterprise networks, et cetera. What is most valuable? Cisco is the industry standard. I tend to use it a lot. The resilience of the devices is very good. It's good for internet-based networking. The documentation is very good. The solution is stable. It's scalable. What needs improvement? For the Enterprise Router, especially for Cisco, we want Cisco to have a less simple product and a more scalable product, so we don't have to choose from so many series. We'd like one device fit for many use cases. The scalability must be simplified. The lead time is pretty bad. It's worse than other products. We'd like them to speed up their speed of delivery. It can take almost 300 days at this point in order to get the devices. They are pretty expensive devices. For how long have I used the solution? I've been dealing with the solution for ten years or so. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The is a very stable product. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. I'd rate the product eight out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The solution can scale, however, it is complicated. there are so many different series to choose from. I'd rate the ability to scale nine out of ten. How are customer service and support? Their support is perfect. They are very helpful and responsive. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We deliver many various solutions and many services. We're bundling with our connectivity products, such as routers, switches, wireless, SD-WAN, and Zephyr. We are exploring Cisco SD-WAN, Viptela, and Meraki, and then we're in the progress of exploring HPE and Aruba. I'm very familiar with various Cisco solutions. The main competitor is Huawei, and they have a bit of an advantage as they are less expensive than Cisco. How was the initial setup? In terms of the initial setup, Cisco is the leading technology here, so the users are also the biggest in the world. We can easily find any necessary documentation about the configuration, the use cases, and best practices. For me, the setup of Cisco is okay. It depends on our documentation. I'd rate the ease of setup based on the available documentation eight out of ten. What about the implementation team? We are implementors. We can set up the solution for clients. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The solution is more expensive than other options. I'd rate it six out of ten in terms of affordability. What other advice do I have? We are a service provider. I implement the solution for clients. I'd rate the product eight out of ten. The product quality is very good. They are, however, a bit expensive. Rated 5 out of 5 by from A valuable product with distinctive features worth exploring What is our primary use case? I use Cisco routers in my company to provide internet connectivity to all our devices, such as computers and WiFi. Essentially, I use these servers to facilitate internet access for the entire company. HPE is the server we are using in our company. What is most valuable? I am satisfied with the tool overall. Although I haven't used all of its features yet, it's been great for providing internet access to both customers, and employees within the company. I'm looking forward to learning more about the other features and using them in the future. What needs improvement? I don't think I can improve the tool. For that, I would need to learn all of its features and how to use them. But for now, I am satisfied with the tool because it provides me with what I need. In short, I don't have any idea if I want any improvements in the solution. Sometimes, I find it hard to learn how some features of the router work. So, these are the issues that may arise when a user might not have knowledge about the product. For how long have I used the solution? I have been working with HPE servers since 2019, which adds up to about three to four years. As for Cisco, I have been working with them for two years now, and with Cisco routers specifically, for about one year. I am also working with Cisco Enterprise Routers. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I love all Cisco devices since it has a lot of features, including the ones that are essential to me. Stability-wise, I rate this solution a ten out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The router I am using right now is enough for my needs. There are many features that I would like to use, and I am learning about them. The tool is sufficient for me at present. The router is the main device in my company. So, everyone who wants to access the internet will go through it. However, I am the only one with access to the router and its features. Thus, all other people have to access the internet through the router as a user without access to its features, and they may not even be aware of the process. They only have access to the internet without the knowledge of how it works. Since I am in the IT section, I have access to all the necessary details. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I have experience with Cisco UCS C-Series, HPE ProLiant DL, and Linux, specifically Cisco and HPE. I haven't worked with routers from vendors other than Cisco. Even at home, I have a small Cisco router. Nowadays, some people use TP-Link and D-Link, but I feel that Cisco is the best for me. For small companies or small houses, Cisco routers are very good. How was the initial setup? I had someone help me with the setup process, which wasn't a complicated process. Although it may seem complicated the first time you go through it, doing it a second time, you may not feel that it is a complicated process. It was not just the router but the whole network, which means there were other devices also. So, the deployment process took just one month. What about the implementation team? I received help from a consultant. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The pricing of Cisco routers is reasonable at times. But, here in my country, it is expensive because we get the product from outside our country, which involves a lot of processes. But, outside my country also, I don't think it is reasonable. Only owing to the features it provides, it is reasonable. I don't know the amount paid by the ones who purchased the solution a few years ago, but I know that they bought the license. What other advice do I have? My advice for the people who want Cisco routers is that I think they have to learn how to use them because there are a lot of features that they can use in the solution. But if they don't know how to use it, then they shouldn't buy it. They have to learn everything about the router so that they can use the very good features of the router. So, they need to get knowledge about the router and its features. Once you know how to use it, it's satisfying. To understand the router and its features, I usually rely on Google, Cisco's website, and occasionally other websites. I find the documentation on the Cisco website to be great since they know how to explain the features well since the routers are their products. I rate this solution a ten out of ten, at times a nine out of ten, but not lower than that. Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from null I have five Cisco 892 routers now. Four are at different ends of our Comcast metro Ethernet setup and one is VPN'd into our main office. They work great. Yes, Cisco command line setup sux but it is almost unbeatable. I also have maintenance on all of them and it is reasonable -- especially considering what you're paying for it. All in all, the hardware, reliability, service & support - it's unbeatable. As much as I hate the Cisco interface I'm not changing anytime soon. And even though I do hate the interface I ALWAYS get help from Cisco, fast and when I need it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from null Powerful little routers with the same configuration commands of the big brothers. They have models with wide range of interfaces, you just have to make sure you choose carefully. Have deployed many of the (old) 83x, 86x 87x, 88x and even a few 89x's - they're rock solid. You get what you pay for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from null The 800 series routers are a pretty robust line. Great for teleworkers. The 851 and 871 routers allow for seperate vpn tunnels so you can seperate voice and data. The only draw back for the 831 is that the power connector is simular to that of the power connector for the Cisco series phones. So if you accidentally plug the phone power into the router, poof, toast. If you need to deploy multiples of these, just create a profile and save to a txt file. Then you can copy and paste the config through telnet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good tech support and easy to install What is our primary use case? We use routers for communicating between different networks. What needs improvement? The solution could be more stable and secure. For how long have I used the solution? We've been using Cisco Enterprise Routers for the past two decades. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is quite stable, although it could be more so. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? We have the need to upgrade and plan to do so at the requisite time. How are customer service and technical support? We have had occasion to contact technical support in the case of clarifications, other practices involving new software and firmware upgrades. We are very satisfied with the response time. How was the initial setup? The solution is easy to install. It is so easy. It does not present an issue. What about the implementation team? We require six people, working around the clock, for the deployment and maintenance. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? We do not have an issue with the price. The license is perpetual and is in-built to the router upon purchase of the device. However, they recently changed the licensing model to one which is subscription-based for periods of three, five or seven years. The licensing fee is okay and matches industry standards, which is the benchmark. Which other solutions did I evaluate? In the past we evaluated Juniper Routers. The sole difference between this solution and that of Cisco Enterprise Routers is that the former has a somewhat more complex operating system, which is not very user-friendly. We have not made use of Juniper Routers. What other advice do I have? There are around 9,000 people in our organization and we have approximately 120 routers. I would recommend Cisco Enterprise Routers to others. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Continually improve and add so many features into the new IOS What is our primary use case? I am the head of enterprise and business, leading the presales, system and network architecture teams. We use this tool as an IP VPN connecting 50 to 60 branch networks. What is most valuable? Cisco has many features, however, we configure only OSPF and other QoS functions. There are three functions like that, but the routing protocol is OSPF through IP VPNs. Cisco launched the 8000 series routers, including the SD-WAN features and Viptela, plus the cloud connectivity. They continuously improve and add so many features to the new IOS, mainly in the cloud, the microservice's architecture and Kubernetes. What needs improvement? There are no new features required. Cisco has a huge amount of configurations and features built in, however, we use less than 10% of those features. The 4000 series that I am using does not have routing and cloud connectivity, but it is my understanding that this is now included in the 8000 series. Cisco has acquired other companies, and due to this, there are many API-based integrations. There should be one platform that will enable a smooth integration. For example, Cisco acquired ThousandEyes, AppDynamics and Viptela. These are ideal solutions for big companies in terms of WAN connectivity. Cisco needs to ensure that there is a smooth integration mechanism in order to ease this process or point of integration. Cisco should also ensure it remains on par with the world technology roadmap as it has been to this point. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Cisco Enterprise Routers for twelve years. Our organization has forty to fifty users. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Cisco Enterprise Routers are stable. This is one of the best products I have worked with. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Scalability is limited for Cisco Routers. Interface scalability has additional slots to plug the card in and increased the required interfaces and required media, like fiber or copper band. The performance of the router is limited. Cisco Router is a hardware platform with IOS, which is limited for every hardware-based plan. However, whatever limitations there have been, we have not felt any bottlenecks. The challenge is when the customer wants to have a complete technology change, for example, IP VPN to SD-WAN, they will need to also have a hardware refresh and replace all of the hardware. How are customer service and support? Technical support is good, however, after COVID, some engineers didn't have up-to-date knowledge. This is the case for approximately 10% of the engineers. This also could have something to do with Cisco outsourcing to third parties. As far as maintenance, Cisco provides top-level support to us here in Sri Lanka. This includes after-sales support. They have the RMA depot located here for Sri Lankan services. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I have experience with HPE Routers and Aruba, but that was over five years ago. As far as WAN connectivity, I have used Fortinet. Fortinet does not have browsers, but I used the firewall. For SD-WAN functions, I have used Meraki. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is not complex. Cisco has acquired many other companies, so there are many API-based integrations, and sometimes those are not smooth. What about the implementation team? We have in-house engineers that did all the configurations. In some circumstances, we had open tech cases and received help from tech engineers at Cisco. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Cisco is more expensive than other architecture solutions. They have different licensing and subscriptions. What other advice do I have? I recommend Cisco Routers because of its stability, support, and availability. Cisco gives premium support, and they offer a solid product. Availability is a challenge right now for everyone because of the worldwide silicon shortage. So, my advice is to get one year ahead. I would rate Cisco Enterprise Routers a nine out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? On-premises Disclaimer: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer:Partner

We use Cisco Enterprise Routers or WAN connectivity and switching in multiple areas, such as data centers and branch offices. What is most valuable? The most valuable feature of Cisco Enterprise Routers is that they are robust and resilient. What needs improvement? The overall price of Cisco Enterprise Routers should be reduced, it is expensive. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Cisco Enterprise Routers for approximately 10 years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Cisco Enterprise Routers are stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The scalability of Cisco Enterprise Routers is good. We have approximately 250,000 users using this solution in my organization. We have an additional 10,000-20,000 contractors and a couple of partners who use the solution. How are customer service and support? The support from Cisco Enterprise Routers is good. How was the initial setup? Cisco Enterprise Routers has a simple implementation. The timeframe it tale for the implementation depends on the solution we are deploying. It varies up to ten hours. We use Cisco's wireless, routers, switches, and a few firewalls. What about the implementation team? We used an integrator to do the implementation. We have approximately 20 engineers that do the deployment and maintenance. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The license of Cisco Enterprise Routers is too expensive compared to other solutions. As we try to increase the bandwidth, it gets even more expensive. There is an annual license needed to use the solution. What other advice do I have? I would recommend Cisco Enterprise Routers to others who need an enterprise solution. I rate Cisco Enterprise Routers an eight out of ten. Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.
