Canon PIXMA TR8620 - multifunction printer - color - with Canon InstantExch is rated 2.30 out of 5 by 67.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This printer is horrible It’ll work maybe a couple months then it will be non stop errors and waste all of your ink trying to troubleshoot. Seriously, don’t buy it, worst printer I’ve ever had..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Frustrating This would be a great printer if it would let you print without that second black ink cartridge. You should be able to print with just your normal black cartridge and use both for photo's.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Total Waste of Money I bought this one month ago. Multiple issues: printer will not print job or it stops in the middle of a transfer. Print quality is inferior to previously owned printers. The machine is poorly constructed with flimsy materials. I definitely would not recommend it and am now faced with purchasing another brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this priter I have had this printer for a few months now (I too, replaced an MX922). I have never been happier with a printer (I have my own small business) and am surprised to see that others have not had a good experience. I want to buy one for my husband!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Printer, but the New Model is not as Good. This Pixma is slightly less sturdy that the last model I had that worked with Windows 10. It still is a great printer, but the panel in front that has to be lifted is an undesirable feature. I prefer the rear paper feed over the cassette. The little extension that holds printed pages is flimsy and does not support many pages before they begin to fall on the floor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from At a loss what to do! My 8620 is only several months old. Never could get it to print envelopes and never could get it to scan. Now it won't print at all. Replaced ink cartridges, as instructed and I cleaned the heads, etc. etc. Don't know if I'm failing to do something, but I've had several printers over the years and not had this many problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not happy! Well I have a older computer and can’t download the needed program to link my printer to my computer. Even when I bought the cord to connect to my computer directly it says install software, guess what these new printers don’t come with software anymore. Not happy!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Nice BUT! This printer is so nice and so modern but so new. If you have a chrome book, it seems it cannot print from Google Print no matter how hard we tried to fix the issue. So this is not a good look for those of use with Chromebooks and kids having to print any information for school. I just spoke to a Canon Tech and he was shocked to even hear this printer was out being it so new. Right now, they are teaming up to try and rectify the matter.as he had not even heard of this model. This not a good luck for millions of us who have Chromebooks and having to help our kids regarding school work and printing. Don't seems that any apps are available to work this out either.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality great! Usage: horrendous!!!!! it lacks 21st Century technology. Any time you change paper size you need to go to the printer to make changes. Anything other than regular letter size paper in the front tray requires new settings-never had this before. Sometimes it takes forever for the printer to respond. It makes a lot of noise recycling or whatever it does. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER. The market is flooded with much better printers. I sure wish I would have tried a BROTHER.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just average I bought it as a replacement for my old MG7520. The TR8620 does not print as clearly - Letters are slightly fuzzy even after alignment. The control panel has to be in the open position for this to work - annoying to have it up all the time. I found a way to keep it always ready in the settings versus having to turn it on each time before printing. I've only had it a few weeks, so can't comment on ink usage or longevity yet. The quality of this printer is comparable to lower-priced ink jets. All in all, the printer works but I wish I had my MG7520 back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cheap, and doesnt' scan correctly This printer is cheaply made. It fells like you could snap off pieces without much effort. The printer is noisy, and the 2 sided printing is frustratingly slow. I tried scanning multiple pages via the document feeder, twice, and both times it turn the orientation wrong on one page of the group. It happened on different pages on the separate attempts, which indicates a random anomaly in the printer. I owned an MX922 for 7 years with relatively no problems. It was a good printer. This printer was similarly priced, so I expected similar quality and performance. I'm not sure what Canon was thinking with this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TR8620 is not truly wireless!! WIRELESS does not mean WIRELESS. You can’t fax with this thing unless it’s hard connected to a landline. Such a wasted bit of time and money. Really not happy!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I hate this machine I had an older version of a Canon Pixma all-in-one that worked fine, but I wanted to upgrade to get a scanner that had a feeder. I got this one thinking it would be about the same but I hate it. The printer is really frustrating because you have to flip this one part of the machine before it will allow you to print. The wireless function is inconsistent. Overall it is difficult to figure out - not very intuitive at all to use and I wish I bought a different scanner/printer. Do not buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flimsy and Poorly Designed I found this printer very difficult to use. The front panel has the display, which is also a touch screen. Since the front panel flips up and down, it makes it very hard to use the touchscreen, since it moves every time you touch it. The outfeed tray tucks in deep inside the printer where it is hard to reach, and the paper cassette is located in basically the same place. When you reach in blindly to pull out the outfeed tray, you end up pulling out the paper cassette. The screen is extremely bright, with no option to change the brightness. It's very annoying at night or in a darker room. Overall, it feels very flimsy, is hard to use, and is not at all designed for easy use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Complicated to use. A step down from MX922. We just bought this because our MX922 died after 6 years. I went with Canon again because of the MX922. I will most likely be returning this. You can no longer print photos via airprint on an ipad. You MUST use the app. I have thousands of photos. I do not want to try to find the particular photo I want to print via tiny icons in a slow app. Sure you can use the app to print from wherever, but if the front panel is down it won’t print, so you must always leave the front panel up and the print tray out. That’s a good way to get it broken fairly quickly. Then you must tell it what paper you are loading. I have a bunch of 4x6 photo paper, but I have no clue what it is. When I finally got a photo to print, it wasn’t anywhere near the quality of the MX922. How could Canon go this backwards in technology over the years? And this new printer cost twice as much as the MX922.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great document printer and scanner This is an excellent printer and scanner for the home office. It takes up less space than anything I have every used so far. The document scan feature produces good quality documents. The color scan feature tends to wash out colors, but maybe this can be adjusted for. My only issue has been that I need to use the printer no further than 1 room away from my router, or I have a poor connection and cannot print.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A poor Cheesy replacement for my Pixma 922 The 8620 was recommended as a replacement. Very disappointing. It's cheap flimsy plastic. Every time you start to print it stops and asks you to verify the paper. Every time. I asked Canon and they said it was an Apple Problem. Yea right. Never had that in the 5 years I used a Pixma.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Old and new printers. My previous printer was a Pixm MX922, which i liked and just plain wore it out. I like my new TR8620 with a few exceptions. I do especially like having a front feed as well as a rear feed. I find the print quality to be even better than the MX922. This brings me to my (few complaints. One complaint is that with the printer closed, with power on, Ythe printer does not open auromacily and mus be done manually. One other fault I find is that the printer seems to take longer to start printing than my old one (both were/are connected wirelessly. One last complaint it the new one is somewhat noisy, and sometimes sounds like an old Model T Ford. I realize that I am comparing two different printers. All-in-all, I am quite satisfied with the 8620. I am getting used to the differences, except for the automatic opening like the 922.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not a Happy Camper 1st, I am not able to keep my printer online and have to go to troubleshooter every time I want to print. You Q&A did nothing to help me on this. My computer is a Dell Inspiron 7000 series and I use the wireless connection on all of my devices, with the exception of my Canon printer. (at least so far). and the reason I bought this printer was for the fact that it is WIRELESS! Needles to say, I am not happy with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Horrible I've owned nothing but Canon for 10 plus years and have always been beyond happy. This model is garbage. The ink runs out fast, it automatically shuts off and you have to manually turn it on, no separate tray for photo paper, the scanner feed always gets stuck. I could honestly go on for a while but in short don't buy this printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great print quality, but not as well made as previous Canon printer Excellent print quality, however it's much more cheaply made than my previous Canon Pixama 8800 series, which is disappointing. Flimsy material. Also does not have the door in front that opens when prining, and it has a flimsy paper catch that you have to pull/fold out which is a pain. Next to the great print quality it's other redeeming feature is that you can use third party ink cartridges, saving allot of money.

After spending nearly 1 hour with a canon technician trying to connect printer to my home network, I decided the technician was having problems also and gave up. I have had 2 previous canon printers and had no problem connecting the but the pixma tr8620 is difficult to connect. I worked further on my own but after exhausting all visible options, I am about to give up on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ABSOLUTLY DETEST IT We have a home based business and got this printer to replace an older PIXMA printer. The construction is flimsy, design is idiotic, and software infuriating. Have had it for 2 months and both my spouse as well as myself have been pushed to brink of psychosis more than once. Software does not recognize paper size to print nor SD cards. It is basically useless.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It is a good printer that does the job, but... I bought this printer to replace a really great one. I have been very happy with all my previous Canon printers, and so assumed I would be happy with this one. It is a good printer, in that it gets the job done, but it has some issues I would have preferred to know about before I bought it. First, the plastic parts are thinner and cheaper than previous Canon models. They are flimsy and feel as fragile as chinaware. I am afraid I am going to break it every time I touch it. Second, it does not turn itself on when I send a print job to it. The printer shuts off to save electricity, but most previous models turned themselves on automatically as well. This one doesn't, which makes printing from anywhere in the house very inconvenient, if not impossible. Third, the paper capacity is smaller than previous models. I thought it was larger based on the description I read, but I was wrong. If you want something that basically functions as it should with no convenience or quality in the product itself, then this is a good model. If you are used to modern conveniences as I previously mentioned I am, then you should look elsewhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This printer has a printer delay I have owned nothing but canon printers at my home and my 5 offices. All have been superior in print quality and photo quality. Many were Pixma type printers. My last printer was a MG5422. It was the best. The ink absorber was full so I was forced to purchase another. So, I went to Canon and purchased this TR8620. Its footprint is wonderful. The print quality is great. The photo's are crisp. But....It uses color ink fast with even with no color printing. Its printing is delayed, like 5-minutes. (very frustrating and it turns itself off. Too complicated. So comparing to the MG it is inferior. I would not recommend this printer to the average person. Buy something else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not a bad little machine, for what it is. I needed a computer fast to replace a dying Epson WF3530 (that other than ink cost is a great all-in-1 and 100 holiday letters needed to be printed. Being in a time crunch I looked for availability, cost, quality... in that order and ended up with the TR8620. Set-up was easy enough with the supplied small cap ink cartridges (quickly needed a replacement black, blue, and magenta). It requires 2 different blacks. 1 larger black for text and a smaller black for photos. Connecting to home wifi was easy enough for me and I'm no genius. We have 3 computers printing from 2 printers without issue (the WF is limping along with some odd text lines). I did have to turn off the printer's default-on print command window as it took 3 different print commands to print a page. And you have set the screen to turn off (not sleep the printer) or else the screen just stays on. Duplex is simple as is scanning to pdf or jpg. It does default to jpg on smaller than full page scans so keep an eye on that. I haven't had occasion to use the rear paper feed. It has an auto document feeder (ADF) which I was surprised to not find on every printer. The front paper tray specs at 100 pages but it's a tight fit. No comparison to the Epson with 2 trays that hold 250 each (a full ream). The feed tray has a cover that is better left off as it only makes it difficult to pull the tray out. The output tray (arm) is basic but does what it needs to. The moveable control panel must be folded out or it won't print and must be held in place when selections are made or it simply moves back out of position and conflicts with the output tray. To fill the feed tray you have to first fold in the control panel, fold in the output tray, then you can service the feed tray. There's no USB port. The only media port is for an SD card almost like it's purpose built to print from a digital camera. That alone may make it worth considering something else. If you're printing almost exclusively text, get a Brother laser. If you need an inkjet all-in-1 consider almost anything else a bit higher end than this. If you're tied to a rock bottom budget this will almost certainly be in stock and in your budget. And by the way, the TR8620 and the TR8622 are the same printer. The TR8622 is simply the one shipped to and sold by Walmart. TLDR: PROS: It's inexpensive, easy to set up, and will get you scanning or duplex printing quickly. CONS: It prints slowly, uses ink quickly, doesn't hold much paper, and seems was not actually tested in use by those who designed it (non-ergonomic).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent printer I've had this printer for two years and it works great. It has never failed or jammed, I would definitely recommend this printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ok while it worked, which w wasn’t long enough Seems I’ve done better than others but I’ve had this printer for a year and it stopped working. I’ve had to reinstall drivers over and over again. But now it won’t feed paper in properly. It goes through ink much faster than I thought it would. I use it modestly and I’m still refilling all the time. I’m extremely disappointed in the quality. Waste of money and I have to buy a new printer now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worst printer I've been a loyal Canon printer user for years, this is by far the worst printer I have ever owned. I spend more time trying to fix the drivers to keep it printing. I shouldn't have to purchase a pro line in order to have everything work correctly and consistently. Terrible, and not worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for faxing Only got they thing because our old printer became unreliable The printer has it problems, Like the rollers for the bottom tray doesn’t grab all the paper And the refillable ink cartridges would leak aonther bummer thing is that there is no driver for our computer system

Rated 5 out of 5 by from CANON TR8620 I have had about 6 printers in my life and I have to say this is the worse one have ever had. It is very slow and difficult to understand what it is trying to tell me. Do not buy this printer.
