Crazy good auto focus
I traded off one of my 1Dx camera bodies for this camera and really liking it more every day. The image quality is excellent. The auto focus is crazy good. I shot college football one day and the next did a kid's senior pictures. Set up two separate focus buttons on the back. One for the football stadium and another with the eye detection for the senior pics. Less that 1% didn't hit the mark. Color was fantastic. Added the battery grip for extra power (but really didn't need it) Very power friendly using the electronic shutter. 2000 shots at the football game and didn't even go through half the battery. There's still a lot that I have to figure out with this camera. Can't speak to the video features because I don't shoot video. Really like having the 3 "wheels" for controls. The ability to scroll across ISO is great. Very easy camera to shoot full manual if you wanted. And another thing I really like that it has a "green box" mode so I can hand the camera to my wife and she can take a good picture (couldn't do that with the 1Dx).
Few things I do miss or would like to see. I miss the weight and build vs the 1Dx (you could drive nails with that beast). The feel of this camera is not as sturdy. A light behind the screen on top of the camera would be a nice feature. Currently trying to figure out how to fit the Think Tank rain covers to it given the stock eyepiece. I don't really like how "exposed" the diopter control wheel is. Too easy to move it accidentally. Little, nit-picky things; but overall I really do like this camera and the more I dig into it, the more I like it.

Good overall camera, solid feel.
Upgraded from 6D & 7D. Charged the battery, downloaded the manual and started to learn. Great burst shots. The “Rate” button is no value (if you like the image then use protect to prevent accidental erasure). On the Plus side you can shoot RAW in all creative and assisted modes. Bracketed shots generated an on-camera error for me, but there is a separate HDR mode to try. Overall, a good camera to replace my 12-year-old gear. The “Control Ring” functionality is a solution in search of a problem.

I'm so glad that I made the investment !
I preordered my EOS R6 Mark II with an RF 24-105mm f4 L IS USM lens on Nov 17, 2022, prior to its U.S. release and received it on Jan 31, 2023. My first mirrorless camera is an EOS M50 Mark II and liked it so much that I decided to upgrade to a full frame Canon mirrorless camera. After researching which model would best suit my needs, I decided on the EOS R6 Mark II with the RF 24-105mm lens. I've had the set up for 8 plus months now and have enjoyed every minute shooting with it. Love it so much that I purchased a Canon RF70-200mm L IS USM lens, a Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary and I'm now in the process of purchasing a Canon RF 15-35mm f 2.8 L IS USM lens to complete my set. The R6 Mark II is everything that Canon said it would be and more. Shooting wildlife, stills, sports and some architectural shots with the R6 Mark II is so much fun and easy that I'm always looking forward to my next shoot. I'm glad that I upgraded, and I highly recommend the EOS R6 Mark II mirrorless camera to anyone that is interested in getting one.

Long time Canon user, I LOVE the R6II! The autofocus is superb. The battery life is good, not SLR good but better than my previous mirrorless cameras. Of course Canon ergonomics are the best. My EF lenses work better on the R series cameras than on my DSLRs, focus is faster and more accurate. There really isn't anything I don't like about it, probably first time I've ever said that about a camera and I have about 5 DSLRs, about 10 point and shoots and one other mirrorless.

R6 mk ii Rocks .. Noticeable Improvement over original R6 ..
I traded my R6 for the New R6 mk ii .. I am Very Happy I did so .. mk 2 is an Improvement in ALL Areas .. The new R6 mk 2 Control Layout is More Natural and Easier to use .. The Autofocus is Noticeably FASTER and is More Accurate , in Particular for FAST moving Subjects .. Focus Acquisition is Improved in Particular with the use of the Flex Zones , as first Debuted on Canon R3 .. I received my mk 2 just 4 days prior to the U.S. NAVY Blue Angels Airshow in Jax., Fl . Enclosed Photos are taken with the R6 mk 2 and the RF 100 - 500 L .. Shots were Handheld in a Large Crowd of People .. Shots taken between a Pier and a Crosswalk with Very Limited Field of View and Split Second Time for Acquisition and Focus .. R6 mk 2 Really did its Part .. Very .. Very Happy with my new mk 2 ..

Worth the upgrade from the R6
If you are a videographer then you're going to be excited about this camera! I highly recommend watching a tutorial for setting up at least the video menu. You are going to love this camera.

So far so GREAT
Ordered around Thanksgiving time .. plus mount adapter and grip.. got those quickly, body was backordered of course, but received the body just before Christmas and used a ton during holiday basketball tournaments and hockey.. in good and not so good light. Coming from the 5D MK IV, and previously 7D MK II bodies.. the lack of noise in higher ISO when needed is incredible. Haven't done any video, and likely won't so I can't talk about testing THAT, but loving the photos with my non-R lenses.
It took me a few basketball games the first day of holiday tourney to adjust to the different style viewfinder, and to use menus and dials. It's been incredible with WB etc. It seems ISO 2000 is a step brighter than the 5D MK IV also, as I was in one of the darker gyms the other day and didn't raise the ISO.
I'm still an LCD reviewer so I've been looking at my photos that way, and have been happy with battery life with the screen flipped so I can see it. I adjusted quickly to the center point jumping when hitting my face on the LCD by getting close to the viewfinder sensor and not pressing to my face until I could see the viewfinder screen. Also learned quickly to press the joystick to re-center.
Build quality seems as good as any of the many Canon bodies I've previously had, or still have.

R6 Mark II upgrade from EOS R
As a photographer of indoor performances and outdoor events I have noticed the following improvements of the R6 Mark II over the EOS R:
1) Greatly improved focusing and tracking of performers in low light situations.
2) Greatly improved noise performance in low light/high ISO conditions.
3) Greatly improved color rendition in low light/high ISO conditions.
4) Improved ergonomics - especially for manual control of shutter speed/aperture/ISO.
5) Improved overall look (color, sharpness, detail) of photographs (both indoor and outdoor) despite smaller (no. of pixels) sensor.
6) Improved ability for high speed shooting.

Easy Transition
An easy transition from my Canon EOS 70D DSLR. Overall, once i got used to the controls it was easy to take pictures and make changes on the fly. I am very pleased with the results and ease of use. With the EOS adapter I can use my L Series lenses.

Delay shutter and miss capturing important moments

I wanted to share my recent experience with the R6 Mark II (24-105 F4 Lens Kit) camera that I purchased. Overall, I am generally satisfied with its performance, but there is one specific issue I encountered related to the LCD screen. While using the LCD to compose my shots, I noticed a noticeable delay in the shutter response. For example, when I wanted to capture the moment my son smiles and press the shutter button, the camera would capture the smile a fraction of a second later than intended. Similarly, when attempting to capture the exact moment when someone's eyes open, the camera often captured moments when their eyes were closed instead. This resulted in several photos with such discrepancies when using the LCD screen. Interestingly, we did not experience any similar issues with our Canon RP camera. This situation led me to question whether my R6 Mark II unit might be defective, as it is concerning to receive a brand-new camera with such performance problems. Despite my efforts to find similar issues online, I could not locate anyone else with the same problem, which makes me think that I may have received a faulty unit from Canon. It is disheartening to encounter this issue right out of the box. As a result, I have decided to initiate a return Canon's RMA service. I also placed a new order for the same camera with lens as well. Once I receive the new camera, I will thoroughly test it again and provide an update here regarding whether or not the same issue persists.
Follow up Review: 07/05/2023
This is an update regarding my previous review where I discussed the problem of missing important moments due to a delay in the shutter. I recently acquired another brand new R6 Mark II, and to my surprise, I encountered the exact same issue once again. However, I have finally discovered a SOLUTION that resolves this problem. By disabling Image Review in Option 3, the camera operates flawlessly when capturing images using the LCD. I hope that my review will prompt the Canon Engineering Team to reevaluate the situation and promptly release a firmware update to address this issue.

Terrible focusing
I bought this camera to step into the mirrorless camera system coming from the 1DX series DSLR camera's and I am not impressed at all the focusing at least on the camera I had as it was terrible, it didn't matter what settings I used the pictures were not in focus, I sent it back. I'm sure I got the only R6 Mark II with bad focusing. The other problem I had while using the camera was the electronic view finder in it, I think that it should be at least 240Hz refresh rate if not more, because it is nothing like an optical view finder, its blurry when you pan with it, totally fine for portraits or landscapes things that don't move though. I was not impressed with this camera at all.

All good - till it isn't.
I purchased this camera 2 months ago. I have been a Canon shooter for over 12 years. My last camera was the 5D Mark III. I used this camera in a professional capacity for over 10 years - no issues at all. Never once sent back for repairs, only regular cleaning. I replaced this camera with the R6 Mark II. Two months in and it has been sent to Canon with an issue with "crazy random changes in settings". I was in the middle of a shoot and suddenly the camera went haywire with crazy high iso and shutter speed settings. Two phone calls to Canon service and I reset the default settings, etc as instructed - with no luck. I sent the camera back to Canon for servicing. I received a phone call that it was "user error". I must have "touched something" on the back of the camera and that's what caused the crazy iso and shutter speed settings. It is a "must" to shoot in lock I was told by the person calling from Canon. And this is the camera I purchased to depend on - SMH. Two months in...

Mirrorless is for the birds!
I received my R6 MKII body very quickly and started to work with it immediately. There is a lot to learn as far as use of the specialized features, a steep learning curve... but well worth the effort as the results are spectacular. My bird portraits are now sopt on with eyes so sharp you feel you were there. The high speed shots are so quick I'm catching the birds in "mid-blink". I have yet to capture some in-flight pictures, but I will persevere. Over all this is a great tool for my purposes. Thanks Canon!

Disastrous experience- camera body and lens BOTH had problems
What a disaster!! Bought the R6 mark 2 body and 2 lenses and an extender including the RF 100-400mm zoom. Photos were not quite sharp enough to be killer or enlarged. Ruined my bucket list trip to Alaska. Sent in to Canon and there were problems with BOTH THE CAMERA AND THE LENS, which they fixed for free. WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO QUALITY CONTROL?. I spent over $4,000 on Canon equipment, ruined my trip and Canon just didn’t care enough to make it right. Should have bought the Sony.

50/50 with Quality Control. Camera is Near perfect if Working Correctl
This is a review of both the R6 and R6ii. In all honestly from both my personal experiences and 4 other professional photographers the entire line of these R Series cameras are a 50/50 when it comes to quality control. Which is very concerning especially if you drop THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS for a state of the art camera to have on going issues with. These cameras should be top notch and thoroughly tested with a good success rate so just for everyone please beware.
To make a long story short, I orginally purchased the Original R6 when it was first released back in 2020. I was extremley excited as it had practically everything I needed in a camera. But right away i started having a variety of issues. The camera would lock up and freeze on me constantly. It would happen at random times, i would be doing nothing but taking simple shots in single focus and then it would freeze and i would be stuck having to take the battery out to reset it. The codecs and files would be so harsh on my brand new PC and wouldnt be read. It was just a massive problem to take simple photos and video and upload. The wobble situation in video when using a wide angle was just horrendous and unusable for professional work. After freezing and locking up on me during both a wedding and a bar mitsvah i just couldnt trust it and decided to send it in. Canon had then replaced that one stating that it was defective. On my 2nd copy of the R6 everything was great for about a month. Then i noticed i started to do long exposures for about 90 seconds the camera would randomly just take the exposure at 23 seconds or 40 seconds it kept messing up. I contacted canon again and they stated a new firmware was released to help rectify that issue. Well that firmware update still didnt help. Then my camera after the update started to freeze again. Then about 4 months in with my 2nd copy i got an Err70 code which pretty much bricked my camera. After 2 tries and 2 copies i gave up and went back to my DSLR as it was so much more reliable.
Then the r6ii was released. I was able to test one out at a recent 1 week long Photography event and i was seriously blown away! it was probably the best camera autofocusing systems i had ever used. Everything ran completley smooth, no freezing locks ups, not a single issue the entire time. After my experience i felt like they made drastic and great improvements from the original version. So i decided to buy a R6ii. Well guess what just to my luck upon getting the camera the Focusing system was doing the strangest of things it would almost half way focus on a subject and be in focus on the left but not in the midlde and then be focused on the right again. This time i purchased it from best buy. When i took it back to best buy with my warranty they sent it into canon. Canon stated that it had a misaligned sensor and it needed to be replaced. JUST WOW! i was then given my now recent copy of the R6ii and it actually works perfectly after about 6 months of use it has not given me a single problem.
So the fact that these cameras are great i feel that the quality control is still a serious serious issue. So just be cautious. I have friends who have purcahsed the R5, R6 and Eos R and 3/8 copies have failed on them. As long as they work as they are supposed to i feel that they are FANTASTIC CAMERAS.

For The Birds
My main reason to buy this camera was to photograph birds in flight. I had been using a 7Dii but I had great difficulty tracking the bird while shooting because the viewfinder was going dark for each shot. Tracking with the bird with this R6 is SO much easier. The camera does a good job of focusing on the rapidly moving bird, usually picking its head. So far I have used the 20 fps setting to capture a five second burst as the bird goes past. I have only had the camera for a few weeks so I have not explored its other capabilities fully yet.

I purchased this canon R6 camera within the last year. It was hardly used and the on/off switch recently broke off. I am disappointed with the quality of this camera.

very easy to use
I'm not a professional photographer. However, I've owned another higher end camera for about 10 years and it is so clunky and tedious to use. Some shooting scenarios don't allow much time for changing and checking settings.
With the EOS R6 markII white balance, exposure and even depth of field can be viewed on the display before even taking a shot. No replacement for a proper viewing on a high definition monitor, but has improved my number of great shots infinitely. This makes my life so much easier and I really enjoy using it! Plus, the menus are a breeze to navigate and the customizability is amazing.
My old camera has the same pixel count, but the images captures by the Canon seem to be double especially in lower light situations.
I did purchase four "L series" lenses for the body as well. Not cheap, but very high quality AND all of them still made in Japan (very important to me!)
Can't say enough good about this camera or the lenses. Excited to get more time using them and capturing some amazing images.

Great camera overall.
I have had this camera for 8 months and absolutely love it. Starting out was a bit of a different story but it has been a great upgrade from my 7DMKII. The increase in resolution from the extra pixels and less aggressive AA filter are very welcome. The faster readout speed of the sensor is great, I pretty much shoot entirely electronic shutter unless using flash. I love the video features, though I would prefer an All-I option for at least the 4k24 but IPB looks fine for most uses. That being said there are some differences from DSLRs that could be tripping some people up.
I've read the 3 one star reviews and determined a few things that might be the cause of the issues they are having. I think the person with the "shutter delay" is not shooting electronic first curtain, hence the delay. I'm fairly certain that is explained in the manual that there will be a slight delay just in how the mirrorless camera has to operate the mechanical curtains. I have tried to replicate the issue using only the info provided in the review and that is my conclusion. The second person is probably shooting with the LCD panel facing out and inadvertently touching the settings, I don't know if the 5DIII had a touch screen, you can lock the settings and make sure to lock the touch function in the settings. You can set the lock so that it only disables touch on the LCD panel, so you can still use the exposure triangle dials and leave the display facing out. The last one could just be flex zone auto focus, I am not a fan. You can still set the camera to use spot autofocus like the DSLRs and disable subject detect, if that is how you want to roll. I tend to use spot detect in combination with eye detect on the back button and that has worked out in my use case. there is a feature for the viewfinder to replicate how a DSLR might look optically, then you lose the exposure simulation but your meter is still there for reference. Hope this helps anyone in determining if they want to make the switch to mirrorless.

An incredible body that's part of an incredible system
This camera is an incredible all-rounder, and I expect it to be more than enough camera for my needs for years to come. I started my journey as an amateur photographer with a Rebel XSi. From there I leapt to a flagship APS-C DSLR from another manufacturer, but recently decided to make the switch to mirrorless and used it as an opportunity to start fresh - mirrorless, full frame, native lenses. I obsessed over which system to invest in and ultimately chose to return to Canon because I believe they have the best full frame mirrorless system currently available, and that this is the best all-around body currently available at this price point. Paired with the RF 24-105mm F4 L IS USM lens, this camera is a beast. The autofocus system and its performance with that lens (and presumably many other in the system) is fantastic. The aspect I most dislike is the body+lens overall size and weight is still a bit much for me for something like hiking or street photography, but that's a tradeoff I chose willingly by buying a full frame camera, and for the types of photography I'm going to use this camera for, the advantages are worth that tradeoff. I will likely buy into another system better suited for something like hiking in the future, in addition to using the EOS R system for my full frame photography.

So glad I bought this camera!!
For the past few years, I have been shooting with a Canon 80D, then 90D, both DSLR systems, and still love and use my 90D. This past February 2023, I decided to buy my first mirrorless camera, the R6 MK II (plus the RF 100-400mm, and EF-RF lens adaptor), and can't tell you enough how glad I am for acquiring that camera. I haven't even finished setting up the camera for wildlife shots yet, but already took some shots and OMG ... what an amazing camera it is!! I'm really 100% satisfied with this purchase and can recommend to anyone still undecided to go ahead and commit to that purchase. The R6 MK II is an absolute fantastic system. Thank you Canon!!

The mirrorless I've been waiting for.
I've had the R6-II for about 5 days now, coming from a 6D-II. It's been a steep learning curve, as the AF system does so much. But I've snapped about 500 shots with it so far, and it's been flawless. It's everything I hoped it would be, and then some. I find that, though complex, I have enough flexibility in button and dial assignments to configure the camera for optimum flexibility and speed of use. I'm very pleased with everything about it, but more importantly, I'm very impressed with the kinds of images I've been able to capture with it.
