Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything I wanted, and more! I had purchased a competitor's printer, and it was a nightmare, problems and no customer service. I threw it in the dumpster and began looking at my 9 year old Brother printer and thought, "What was I thinking?" I never had a moment's problem with my old Brother printer, so why don't I order one of the new ones? Now I have TWO Brother printers. This one is for the fancy stuff, the beautiful colors, the fact that it prints edge to edge. The other one I just bought is a b&w laser printer for the everyday stuff. Keep making them just like this, Brother. Way to go!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Could be Better Not as good as my old one that died (MFCJ6920DW. The document feeder is better. The paper trays are not. The software although similar is more cumbesome to use. The print quality is just as good. If you need ledger size printing this printer works good.

Have found the colors not as brilliant as with my $50 HP 3830. Had basic same model from 10 years ago, bought this as ops familiar and I had a project going that was very time sensitive. Didn't find the "newer technology" improved anything, and the ink cartridges are more expensive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not overly impressed I had my machine for about a year and all of a sudden I started gettig scans that were not clean. Tried cleaning it but it would scan one page clean and then right back to blue lines running down the length of the scan. Gave up and bought an HP.

The printer has been very reliable and easy to use, especially with their App, I can print stuff from my phone and scan docs easily. I did have a print head plug that no matter what was done it wouldn't clean it out. Brother sent me a new machine. I am purchasing another one now for a second home office that is in my shop, 200ft from my home.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Scan to email now broken for corporate networks The J6930DW edition of this lineup has lost the ability to do "Scan to Email" natively from the device. It now requires a bolt-on "App" that integrates very poorly with the front panel UI, and requires the use of a 3rd-party AWS-hosted service to send the email... thus making it utterly unusable for nearly all corporate networks. The J6910DW used to be able to do this natively - why remove a feature that worked exceptionally well?

I did need a little help and calling Brother proved quite easy and helpful. This is my first Brother, I have used HP for many years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Software/Wi Fi Terrible This is our fourth large format printer scanner from Brother, others similar to this unit. We end up having to replace them when they start jambing incessantly so you might get two years out of these units. However, this particular unit has been very difficult to set up with Wifi, slow to receive and print, and a third of the time isn't recognized on the wireless network despite re-boots. This after two or three firmware updates in the same number of weeks. Have not had this issue with previous units. Also the printing software is very limited. I am now trying to print from Ipad and the ios App from Brother does not support tabloid! This is why we bought this unit. We use an earlier model in our architecture office, and outside of the occasional jambs we enjoy the flexibility. This model is for our home and performs much worse even though a newer model.

I have to select scan at the printer and then walk all the way over to the computer to select ok. Every single time and support can't fix it. No place to turn to for a solution.

Needless to say 2 months later I ordered my Replacement Brother printer online. Brother printers are way better on the ink, easy to use (even easier than my previous model) We use to print plans for construction jobs so the 11 x 17 is a must. I have only had this one for a month so have not used all the features yet, but based on my last model, I will alway buy Brother..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value I purchased this all in one to replace a HP. The printer is faster and definitely more quiet than the HP. Print quality is very good. Reliability? Time will tell. The negatives are two. Although wireless, it is not BlueTooth compatible. I'm not sure how that affects my network because all my devices are able to connect to the printer. Next, this all in one is HUGH and HEAVY. It's approximately 22" lone, 26" deep with rear paper feed and front pap[er support extended. I probably would have made a different choice had I known. But it's here and working great so far.

After multiple cleanings and hours upon hours of wasted time with customer service in a foreign land, about a dozen printer cartridges and time and money that I'll never get back, the machine is worthless.

Previous printers (HP would lose connection and I'd be stuck with jobs in the printer spool that were difficult to clear. It was an aggravating experience. My Brother printer just prints, every time. Quality of prints are very good and, so far, I'm loving this purchase

If you print on normal setting, it leaves a faint line in 2 places on the sheet of paper. That's why I only have it 4 stars. If you set it on fine the lines disappear, but it uses more ink and is slower.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good printer with some serious glitches Output is good, and typically the scan function works. Downsides: Scan via USB breaks a lot (user can print but cannot scan. If you want to add another same model printer or if you need to fix a printer issue, it seems the solution is to run the full installer all over again. Additionally, it seems that the only way to get the printer successfully installed is to run the full installer rather than just the driver.

The driver that is provided is problematic and doesn't seem to support all the functions the printer can do. Even from Windows 7 there are control problems. Also, the front control panel is maddeningly limited, it shows status, but won't let you make changes, like switching to the manual paper tray for instance.

Only two knocks: Like most printers, it sometimes disconnects from WiFi leading to annoying re-boots of the printer and the computer. The extension shelf, for long paper, broke on day 2. It’s made from not very strong plastic and has some weak support points (one of which broke. Should be built a little sturdier.

The speed is not really fast but it's ok. The thing i'm worry right now is the ink. The colors are fine but the black ink is gone faster than i think. The ink we use right now is LC3019, way better than LC3017. I hope Brother will have another better one. We are thinking about MFC-J6935DW for the future one, however, we are stick with this now

The cartridges are lower cost than most others. But this is were it gets the 3 *, the ink is terrible. I replaced my HP printer for this because the cost of the cartridges are cheaper for the Brother. They need to improve the vibrancy of the colors, they look terribly faded, muted, just not bright enough. Please improve the vibrancy of your color cartridges. Other than than I love all the features of the printer.

I have always been an Epson fan but I have returned 3 Epsons due to software issues. This is my first Brother and I have to say I am very happy with it. This printer does pretty much everything I need it to do. My only complaint is that I am unable to print business cards. The rear feed does not feed correctly for a card sheet.

You must use the 'inkjet paper setting' for accurate results. Tech support was great in working with me to figure it out, so kudos to them. It's definitely an engineering problem Brother needs to address

It was purchased to replace a retired Brother MFC6490CW that has worked flawlessly for over 4 years and printed 10s of thousands of pages. It is incredibly fast and best of all it prints both sides of the paper. We print a lot of 11x17 engineering drawings and again the print speed is incredible. We also do a lot of document scanning and this has integrated into our network systems perfectly. This printer also has wired ethernet which is important to us for data security as WiFi is not permitted in our office.

Printing on letter-size paper was good and fast enough, from every tray, but photo printing could not be accomplished at all. Photo paper jammed from tray 1 and/or 2, and when loading tray 3 (back), photo printing defaulted to print tray 2 every time and ended up saturating standard letter paper with ink, over and over. Amazon accepted my return without question or hassle, and the refund was very quick.

Secondly, the print heads clogged within the first year and required a "purge" command that used up all the ink all the cartridges. Painful to deal with.

Print jobs get stuck and wont print until the printer is rebooted. Happens wired and wirelessly! Completely removed drivers and reinstall three or four times.

I'm able to load 11' X 17" paper in tray 2, 8.5" X 11" paper in tray 1, and fast load envelopes in the Multi-Purpose Tray. The WiFi connect is great and easy to setup. The only things I view as a negatives are that some research must be done to print some odd sizes and .when searching online for ink cartridges, the wrong cartridges are returned on every site I searched.

I had another Brother printer that worked flawlessly for 10+ years, but this one is extremely frustrating. The set up was quick, the wi-fi integration was a breeze, but frequent paper jams are annoying. As other reviewers noted, it is also very slow. This printer makes me wonder whether or not I selected the right one. There are many other less expensive options which may perform better. Disappointing.

It can do 2-sided copies, printing on 8.5X11 and 8.5X14. I haven't tried the 11X17 features yet or the fax but the scanning is just as good as any other. The ink is not expensive but if you do a lot of printing they don't last long!

The quality of the prints are fantastic down to the minor details. We also use this printer for making color copies. The only thing we would add to this printer for a function is to be able to scan directly from this printer to our paperless filing system from the display screen/function buttons on the printer itself. If it had the functionality we would rate this a 5 star printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product with some exceptions Printing is fast and high quality and large format capability is really useful. But I discovered a weakness when printing labels. Specifically, Avery Business Cards. Feeding from Tray 1/2 results in 60% paper jams, and the MP tray jams every time. The problem seems to be feeding in landscape mode which these labels are not designed for. I like the 2 trays because I use preprinted forms (checks) in Tray 2 and plain paper in the default Tray 1. However, when Tray 1 runs dry, it switches automatically to Tray 2 which obviously I don't want. And there is no way to stop this. I have printed quite a lot on the original ink cartridges and they are still good, so seems to be quite efficient on ink.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Getting better I have been using various models of this machine for almost 10 years now and they have been getting better with this latest one almost perfect for my business. I can store 3 different size papers in the machine and it automatically chooses the right one to print on. Works about twice as fast as the previous version, a little quieter, and I have had and with no glitches or jams so far. Good friendly tech support if you need it but I have not had to call with this machine. A great value for all it does and you can count on timely driver updates to new versions of windows.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the scanner It is a great printer! Sometimes it takes a little bit to get the information for printing but most of the time it is just plain fast. You can print from any wireless device vary nice feature, but the best feature is the two sided scanning on one pass is really great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent all-in-one printer I'm delighted with my new printer. not only does it print well, but the scan and copy features are very useful and easy to use. I'm also using the ability to print ledger paper more often than I expected, as I'm in the middle of producing plans and diagrams for my new home. My only complaint is the inability to print letter-sized sheets in portrain mode. I print checks with this printer and this inability makes it difficult to print less than a full-page of checks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A little Disappointed I was excited to get this printer, but am disappointed that when turn on the printer to scan in the morning, it does not give me the option to select my computer to have it scanned to. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. I called in to have it fixed, the person I talked to said that it had to do with our fire wall. I talked with our IT guy, he said it does not have to do with our firewall. It's so frustrating!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good Enjoying printing architectural drawings at 1/4 sheet size to bid jobs. Photo printing seems good. Still getting used to the machine. I am having a problem scanning and keeping the scans straight. I tried inserting the original to the hard stop, soft (beep stop, paper guides tight, snug, soft, but still doesn’t feed straight. Shoulod be easier but maybe I need more practice.

I purposely bought a similar model to my last one because it has all the features my business requires and the last one was really reliable. I like to two paper trays as sometimes i have to print 11 x 14. Its great not to have to change paper trays. These trays also hold alot of paper, therefore i am not constantly adding more paper. The scan feature is also terrific and speedy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great selection of paper sizes, some quirks Had MFC6490CW for several years, loved it. So the MFC-J6930DW seemed a perect replacement. Overall it has performed pretty well, but there are two issues I find irritating. 1 every once in a while after sending a print job to it, it's looking for a document in the multi purpose tray. Don't have much time for trouble shooting, so it seems a reboot of printer corrects problem. 2) Some larger pdf files seem to get slowed down loading to memory. Aside from these items is creates a decent professional looking output and is kind on the pocketbook in terms a ink usage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from DO NOT BUY! We purchased this printer for our small business. Its quick scanning and printing features were part of the reason we chose this one. We've currently owned the printer 3 months and it has done terrible printing. It prints vertical streaks through just about anything we print/copy. We've used both genuine Innobella ink (recommended and the generic. Neither were any better quality. We've done printer nozzle cleanings and contacted Brother twice by phone. I would highly recommend getting a different printer!!!

Since then, we have printed with great ease and quality and used all of its features, scanning with clarity and destination selections. The choice of 2 paper trays is a definite added plus!! Would definitely recommend this product. Love it!!!

Easy set up out of the box, lovely feature set and quality output BUT I was very disappointed to go through $105 worth of colour ink to print 34 pages in colour over 6 weeks. (user report verified number of copies. Brother assures me that this is perfectly normal for their 3019XL cartridges because it uses colour in to print in monochrome despite having a black ink cartridge. Where is the 1500 pages advertised for that cartridge?

I needed a printer that can print from USB, wireless, or from an SD card, and at this price point this printer has not disapointed me. It is of good quality, I don't have trouble finding replacement ink, and it is pretty fast!

Over the years I have bought a couple of dozen, of every type, for home and business use - sometimes several copies of a single model. The dependability has been so consistent that now I just match the features I want and buy. This one is proving to be just as capable and ready as each of the others has been. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just Like the 20DW But a Little Bigger I replaced my old MFC-J6920DW with the newer 30DW because the cost of replacing the print drum on the 20 was more than the cost of a brand new 30. The 20 lasted (to the day 2 years. Makes me wonder if Brother is running a planned obsolesce business model. There was really nothing wrong with the old printer (other than the print drum) and it was a pain to have to replace it and set it up. As far as I can tell right now, they are the same machine except ink for the 30 is cheaper (they say) and the outside dimensions are slightly larger (also a pain because I will have to reconfigure the shelving where the 20DW fit very nicely). I like the printer. It handles 11x17 scans and color prints just fine so its a good fit for my work.

No more switching from regular paper to my check stock. So glad I purchased this machine. The print quality has been great too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good printer for the money The user interface for printing is pretty straight forward. The scanner feature is difficult to use. The way Brother names documents is weird. My HP allowed me to preview the document after it scanned and so far I have not been able to figure out how to do it with the Brother. I also was told by Brother support that I cannot rotate PDF documents once they are scanned. I have to scan the document as a JPG file and use Adobe for converting into a PDF. I do like the dual tray feature which allows me to make different size prints which I do frequently.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great All In One Unit for the Money I have never owned a 3 in 1 machine and chose Brother because of my experience with a laser printer. This time I wanted a unit that would do a better job of printing color and the MFC was priced reasonably. Purchasing it meant I could throw out an old scanner and have other desirable features such as wireless printing and more. I am completely satisfied. the Scan/Print App works well with my MacBook and we are able to print remotely from another room, do 2-sided printing and use a wide variety of paper including 11x17 which I have not done before.

Things I love about it.... print quality and speed is great. Paper handling options are exceptional. It handles envelopes very well... both small and big... you just load them in the 3RD AUX tray and they feed great. Scanning is super fast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mine was a defective product and I returned it I followed the set up procedures. It failed to print magenta in the print test. Did the cleaning per the instructions. This emptied the start-up cartridges after two tries. I put in new cartridges, print test failed again. So I returned the unit and opened cartridges and did not replace it.

The customer support is not the best as you have to struggle to find a live person to help. I love the printer capabilities and fast print for home use. I’m still trying to figure out all features.

Two letter size paper trays store plenty of paper and pullout and return easily. Scanner does coping thru Brothers and Adobe Photoshop. I use it as a home office printer. Front panel GUI is easy to navigate.

But, rather than buy another model, I waited three months for this one. I'm glad I did; it's very nice. Twos drawbacks I see is that it prints slowly when on photo-quality. This may be typical; I'm not sure. Also, the included ink cartridges don't last long. My understanding is that they contain less ink than the replacements you'll have to buy

I've had to direct connect with a USB for every subsequent print job. The control center for scanning is glitchy and often has a dialog box that contradicts reality. I miss my old Brother model that worked hard and provided reliable results.

The black and white is okay, I would have bought a cheaper model or a competitor's unit if I'd known how much the quality has degraded. I bought a Brother MFC 20 years ago and wore it out. This replacement is a pale shadow of the former unit.
