Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love everything about it It was super easy too set up and it is quiet and doesn't shake my whole desk like my other printer did. I also like that I can track the ink. The only issue is when I am printing 10 or more pages the stop does not keep them in the tray.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Anti-Environmental The printing works, but you can’t print on both sides of the paper so it is environmentally very wasteful. Wish I had my Canon printer back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why only 3 Stars 1st: Love this printer. However, I bought it because I have occasional FAXing. I can not get the fax to work using line & phone inputs. Neither can Brother top tier support. Now they are blaming the phone company. My prior HP printers worked fine using the same line & phone inputs. Had I not like the printer main functions so much I would have knocked off more stars. Now when ever I have to fax, I have to lift the printer top and plug in the line, close the lid and configure it to fax. Not happy. 1st: Love this printer. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Intelligent design After having a combination printer for over 10 years we took a chance and upgraded to the Brother. The installation was easy, especially for an old guy, and the device app and computer functions are far better than our former product. Everything works exceptionally well. My only negative comment is that the document print quality is not quite as crisp as our previous printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MFC-J5845DW XL compared to older Brother & Epson I have an older Brother, MFC-6490CW, which has an 11x17 scanner too, plus better paper handling, but the ink is relatively expensive, so I haven't used it as an everyday printer. I also bought an Epson ET-4760 tank printer for my wife's office, which has the lowest ink cost, BUT it does not print with the quality of this Brother MFC-5845DW, nor the print handling, quality build or 11x17 print capability like this one. I am not sure how the ink will last and cost out, but I know it will be a lower cost than my older Brother and the quality is nice, plus it prints fast, so it is my default printer in my office now. It is not a photo printer, although the photos aren't too bad.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Printer! I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. The Brother MFC-J5845DW XL Inkjet is a great printer!Set up was very easy. The printer cartridges install easily, and the printer has a screen that walks you through steps necessary for set up and all the various functions. The buttons on the screen, however, are sometimes small and hard to choose accurately.Being able to scan to directly to my Google Drive, is a really nice feature. I love that I can also print from my Google Drive for DOC, JPGs, and PDF file types, directly from the printer screen. You can also scan and send to mobile device by scanning a QR code. I love that feature. You can also upload directly to Drop Box, send to emails, and fax.Photo quality color prints are printed very fast. I made copies from a document that I printed. Copies are made fast, but colors are faded slightly from the original.All-in-all, this is a great machine. I`d recommend it for families, for an in-home office, or small business.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Quality Multipurpose Machine Does it All I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion.Assembly: This product came out of the box easy to put together. The ink cartridges that are in there were easy to pop into place. Once I set that up, all I had to do was get the machine connected to my WiFi, computer, and phone for use.Instructions: The instructions were quite clear on how to get the computer online. The challenge I had was pushing through the buttons on the screen to find what I was looking for. This was mostly a function of finding which place housed which instruction since there are many ways to connect this machine to a computer or phone for use. Overall, I felt they were clear but it just takes time getting used to the machine and where things are in the user panel. What it does well: What I really liked about this product was the multi-functionality. I was able to get in there and try lots of different features which was fun to play with. I`ve had similar multi-function printers before with a scanner and such but not one that had a scanner, fax, printer, and the other functions like sending documents to a phone. I loved being able to connect various computer programs to the printer and get clear, fast prints every time. I mostly use Word but I use other programs, .pdf files, etc. and was happy to see that I can get lots of different types of these connected and sent to my phone or computer, email, etc. Some challenges: Honestly, I`m a simple user. I don`t need a lot of functions at the moment. There are times I need to scan, times to upload to my phone. I honestly used these more with this printer than I have in the past because it was there and accessible. I can see where people may be turned off by too MUCH interface and functionality because it may be too overwhelming to know how to use it all. The scanning to my phone did not work the first time, but for some reason I had hit `Japanese translation.` When I switched the scanned document to upload in English, all was good. Go figure!Overall impression: Overall, very impressed with the quality of this machine. In similar pricepoints I`ve found there are not as many functions. Because I`m looking to build a home office and do more writing at home with printing lots of documents, I found this to be a great, user-friendly printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Workhorse Printer I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. Brother MFC-J5845DW XL InkJetWe were in need of a new all-in-one printer for our home office, and were able to try this Brother printer out. First impression was that the printer was *very* large, bigger than our previous all-in-one printer. My guess is that this is due to this being a more "commercial" printer than our previous printer. To give you some comparison, this is about 2.5 times the size of our HP printer. This meant it wouldn`t fit on desk space normally used by our printer. This might not be a problem if you`re using this in a larger office space, but my husband works from home, and his "office" is just one of our spare bedrooms. This made things a bit of a challenge to move around. We still haven`t found the "perfect" place for it, and it`s just temporarily sitting on a tray table next to the computer desk. Out of the box, this printer was very easy to set-up and install. I`m pretty confident with computers and setting things up, so I didn`t do a full reading of the manual before installation. I don`t think this hindered me in anyway. The printer connected pretty quickly to our wireless network, and after entering in the date/time and network password, it was connected. It also was discovered very quickly by all of the computers on our network, and we were printing within minutes, without adding additional software. Actually scanning from printer to computer took a few extra minutes, because I didn`t realize I needed to download the specific Brother software before being able to use scanning capability. The download process & registration process was straightforward, with the computer prompts walking me through everything. Once that software was added, we were up and running with scanning. For both printing & scanning, the documents came out quickly, true to color, and were dry to touch by the time the printing was completed. The faxing capability was pretty convenient as well. The tray on top was easy to load, and the little indicators let you know how to place the sheets. The fax took a few minutes to send, but I`m chalking that up to the receiver`s network being busy/a little slower. All in all, this is quite the work horse printer. It`s definitely a bigger and more capable printer than your traditional home all-in-ones. This works for us since my husband works from home, and we print a lot of things for the kids` school projects, events, meetings etc... A bigger printer makes sense for us. If you just need the occasional boarding pass or shopping list printed, this is probably too much machine for you. The ink cartridges are a little bigger than our old printer, but as I haven`t yet replaced them, I can`t truly speak to how long they will last. Very good printer, pleased with the output. My main concern is just finding the right spot for it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy Easy-to-Use Home Office Printer I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. To start, this printer is super simple to unbox and set up. I gave a cursory glance to the Quick Setup Guide, which seemed to be pretty clearly illustrated, but it honestly wasn`t even necessary. The printer is fully assembled and only requires loading paper and ink cartridges (included. I connected the printer to my wireless network and was able to AirPrint from my iPhone about 8 minutes after unpacking the printer. To print wirelessly from my Mac, it was necessary to download the Brother software from their website, which was also a simple process. Since our other printer has broken, I had a lot of documents lined up to print. I set up print jobs in rapid succession and this Brother printer had no problem moving from one job to the next fairly seamlessly. The large paper tray was able to hold enough paper to get the job done, and I haven`t experienced any paper jams *yet* which were a frequent occurence on my old printer when I`d have print jobs in queue. The scan and copy processes are both equally painless and I`m especially happy that after quickly adding my e-mail account, this wireless printer can have those documents in my inbox in seconds. As far as print quality goes, this printer is a pretty standard home office printer. Greyscale documents produce pretty crisp text and do not waste expensive inks. The printer has decent color output with relatively little pixelation, as long as you are printing appropriately-sized images. However, I did notice that the colors don`t seem to be as true as on my previous printer. This is somewhat expected from a primarily business-use printer, but definitely of note if your home or business needs include a lot of graphics where color integrity is important. (For reference, an image I printed with Pantone yellow variations in the 380s/390s came out looking exactly like the printer simply spat out yellow directly from the tank, with absolutely no cyan detection.)Some other features that I like are the automatic document feeder, paper trays that can accommodate various paper sizes, up to 11" x 17", and the Page Gauge feature that estimates the number of remaining page prints left for each color in the printer`s internal storage tank. I`m not sure if this will prevent me from starting a color document that will end up wonky in the last few pages, but thus far it`s been interesting to note the data after each large color print I make. I also like that the printer automatically prints dual-sided, since that`s the setting I use most often. However, I did forget this once when printing a pretty large document where the first page should have been a single-sided intro, so the formatting for the entire thing was wrong. Definitely something I`ll have to remember to double-check.Some cons: I`m a little on the fence about ink replenishment programs anyway, but if I did want to try it out, this Brother model was not listed in the affiliate ink-replenishment programs when I searched. Also, this printer is pretty bulky. It definitely does not fit in the footprint of my old printer in my current business center set-up. Instead, it is sitting squarely in the middle of my work table, which has to be the shortest of short-term solutions. Definitely note the dimensions of this printer and make sure your table or cabinet has the space to support it comfortably. And, of course, the color integrity issue I noted above.Overall, this is a pretty good office printer. I`m pleased with the turnout so far after replacing what was a pretty well-loved little workhorse.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best printer/scaner ever!!! I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion.I was looking to find a new printer/scanner to replace the one I had since I wasn`t happy with it.I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box. There were inject corteges packed in it`s separate compartments which made it easy to keep them organized, and so it was very easy to get them all out of the box at same time. Next, the printer was inside a heavy duty plastic bag with handles attached so I was amazed on how easy it was to get the printer out of the box. All I had to do is to lift it up from the box, unlike some printers that don`t have a bag and you have to flip the box to it`s side in order to get it out, which makes it extremely difficult. I think it was a brilliant idea to set the printer inside a plastic bag with handles so that it can be easily lifted from the box.The set up process was also very easy. The instructions were very easy to read. It literally took me only about 5 minutes to hook it up including connecting it to home WiFi.The best part about this printer is that I am able print and scan directly from my cell phone. All I had to do is download a Brother printer/scanner app. I love that option because after I scan a picture, I can save it into my phone to share with my friends and family. I did that with my kids baby pictures that were taken back when there were no digital photography and they came out great. The picture quality stayed the same unlike my old scanner that would not give me as good of results when it came to scanning photographs. I believe I finally found a printer/scanner that I am really happy with. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for printer/scanner that is a great quality and super easy to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product For small Businesses I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. ASSEMBLY: I was a little intimidated by the size of the box. That quickly dissipated when I opened it and removed it from the box. The instructions says that you will need 2 people to remove it from the box. Well, I didn`t have another person so I did it myself. I`m 5`9", 146 lbs and I easily removed it by myself. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow. I had it up and running in about 15 mins. The touchscreen function worked well and was easy to follow. It synced to my wifi quickly. I didn`t have to enter the serial number, only my password. I also loved that it came with 2 sets of ink cartridges. FUNCTIONALITY: The printing is very clear and crisp. I had no problem printing from my computer. I did, however, have a bit of a challenge printing from the app on my phone. The app was one of the features I was excited the most about. I often use my phone more than my computer. The app is a little simplistic and inefficient. I printed an email and it came out in giant print. There was no option to resize the image. I did like that it had the option to print 4 to a page printouts. I also tried to print a pdf from the app. I kept getting an error message. I finally had to turn the printer off and on again to let it reconnect to my wifi even though it showed that it was already connected. The touchscreen is very easy to use, although it is a bit small. I have small fingers so it is not an issue for me. Someone with chunkier fingers may find it challenging. The paper loading tray is very easy to use. It even has a separate feed in tray for envelopes. I have not used that feature yet so I don`t know how easy it is to actually print on envelopes.STORAGE: This product is a lot bigger than I`m used to in a home multi-function printer. It is more of an office type equipment. That being said, it sits easily on top of a computer desk in my family room. It is light enough to move without any issues. But, it does take up the entire desk.Overall, I would recommend this product to anyone that has a small home business or needs to print a lot from home. For your average home printing needs, this product is bigger than I would have purchased on my own.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Effective, yet Bulky Printer I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. I`m quite happy with this printer. It works quickly and efficiently. The ink comes out sharp and vivd on paper. My favorite features are the 3.7" touch-screen and the duplex printing. The touchscreen is very responsive and makes the printer easy to use. I love being able to save paper without manually printing on both sides! The product instructions are incredibly clear and simple to follow. It was easy to set up and install the ink cartridges. This is one of the best printers I`ve ever used. It meets all of my expectations and more. I haven`t had any paper jamming issues as of yet, so that`s a plus. It is a bit on the bulky side and quite heavy so mobility is not really an option. It is pretty much a heavy duty office printer to use at home.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile All-In-One Printer I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. I`ve been using my Brother MFC-J5845DW XL InkJet all-in-One printer for about a week now and can already confidently say this is the best printer I`ve ever owned or used before.Setting it up out of the box was simple. It does recommend lifting it from the box with two people, but everything else is simple to do on your own. Instructions included a full reference guide and a quick setup guide. The quick setup was very easy to follow and included helpful pictures. Most things were very intuitive and I was able to do the process speedily by myself. The longest part of the setup was the driver installation on my computer, but that was more so because I chose to download the drivers through the website rather than from the included CD and my internet download speed was running slow that day.The best features in my opinion are the large paper tray that allows you to print up to 11"x17" ledger pages, the provided ink that will supposedly last 1-2 years at ~300 pages a month making this a great deal in the long run, and the ink gauge that shows you approximately how many pages you can print until the color runs low. While those are my favorite it also has many other features including the typical print/scan/copy/fax operations found in all-in-one printers, ability to print from mobile, touchscreen display, the fast speed for printing, and the additional MP tray that allows you to print on thicker/heavier weight paper and envelopes. Thus far I have not run into any typical types of printer trouble, like paper jams or wireless connection issues so I`m very happy. My previous printer from a different brand was of similar size and also an all-in-one, but right away I had constant issues with the old printer regarding the paper tray being very difficult to open and "sticky" along with the ink not properly coming out so the images were always off colored and tinted mostly yellow even after countless attempts to fix it and repair the printhead. This printer from brother is much better and doesn`t have any quality issues like my previous printer. The only function I would want added to this printer is duplex copying/scanning, but I can easily do without and it doesn`t affect my standard use.Overall I`m very pleased and feel like this is a great functional printer that would suit any home office or small business needs as it`s designed to do. It`s intuitive and has all the functions and speed that would be required for all scales of print jobs to fit anyone`s needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great printer! I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. Setup/Assembly: Instructions in the Quick Setup Guide were very easy to follow and clearly written which I greatly appreciated. The instructions included visuals for each step (loading paper, connecting the power cord, installing the ink cartridges, connecting to computer, etc. as well as a URL link to watch FAQ videos for setup support. Total setup time was less than 30 minutes. Pros:- I was highly impressed with the print quality - very clean, high quality, rich looking colors. - Fast printing (from first to last page)- 2 years of ink included- No issues with paper jamming- Easily connects to wi-fi - Touchscreen instructions on control panel are easy to follow- Compared to other color printers I`ve used, this printer provides an overall better print experience and the prints are not too noisy which is a nice bonus! In my opinion, this printer would make a great addition to a home office space!Cons: - The printer is heavy and bulky - takes up a lot of space on the home office desk.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surpassed my expectations... I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. The Brothers BV printer was easy to set-up and connect to my PC. Usually we use HP printers, so I was pleasantly surprised to find the printer to be fairly easy to set up and to connect to our wireless devices. My favorite features include the touch screen display and the short-cut feature (which allows you to pre-program your frequently used print jobs). Though we don`t typically print pictures from our PCs, I had to give the photo print a try. AWESOME!!! I used a USB flash drive, plugged it directly into the printer and my pictures were viewable on the display screen of the printer! The quality of the photo was good and the time it took to print was impressive. Since my PC is sometimes slow to start up, it was SO VERY convenient for our employee to come in from the field and print his reports directly from the printer just by plugging in his flash drive. It handles larger jobs pretty well, too. For us, a large job is 50 to 60 pages, which we only need to do once or twice a month. It printed fast and the tray was able to hold the job (no mess on the floor with papers out of order). As a small business owner, the Brother BV works great for our needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Multi-Function Printer I`ve Used I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. This is my all time favorite multi-function I`ve ever used. I was able to unbox and complete set-up of the printer in 10 minutes. Both the instructions that came with the printer and the on-screen instructions were very clear and easy to follow. My favorite feature of this printer is air print. I`m able to print wirelessly from multiple devices, even my phone! Compared to other similar products I have used, this one is much more user friendly and intuitive. The overall quality of this product is great and so far, I am impressed with this printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Multi Function Center I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. SETUP: This printer came with a 2 year supply of ink. Which was a relief as I have had issues with ink toners and other brands. The setup was quick and painless only taking about 2 hours to set up from opening the box to printing our first page. At first impression, this printer seems like overkill just to print a few pages. The only issue being that An internet connection IS required just to set up and install on your computer. However once my connection was verified, the installation was a breeze.CONNECTING:There are plenty of options to connect this printer and the hidden wire ports really adds to the efficiency and impressive features this product offers. I especially liked the single usb port exposed in front for on the go impromtu printing. Plus the option to connect to our mobile device through a simple app really makes printing easy even when the laptop is in use.PRINTING: The ink was easy to put in without a messy hassle. We printed about 100 pamphlets and we were pleased with the quality of each print. VALUE: We certainly would recommend this product to any family and friends in the market for a printer. Although a bit bulky, and more ideal for a large family or small business, this printer can exceed expectations or any size family.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great All In One Machine! I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. This printer does a great job of doing it all, and doing it well! While a bit larger in size than my previous all servicing printer, this Brother printer holds up well for both my printing and copying needs. The fact that my at home printer does double sided printed is a huge plus as well. It was super easy to set up, comes with a ton of ink, and was easy to connect to my laptop wirelessly. It`s very convenient to print from my phone or laptop, and super easy to do from any room in my house. Overall, I would recommend this printer as long as you have the room for it, since it does have a larger footprint - but you`re getting a machine that can print/copy fast and print on both sides of your paper. I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion.
