Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not worth it I bought this printer 2 years ago, when schools went online. The print quality isn't what I had hoped, but the printer was under $400. I had always heard laser printers cost less than ink jet when ink costs were considered. The toner costs more than the printer itself. How is that possible, when toner is included with purchase? I tried the off brands, but the chip isn't compatible. What a waste. I'm going to buy a refillable ink jet.

We haven't had it in service long enough to know how long the supplied toner will last but we are ordering the large size replacements. My only complaint is the cost of toner refills but this is true of all printers, both those using toner or ink. While businesses may write off cost of supplies, home users as a rule cannot which adds much to cost of ownership.

The Brother Compact Digital Color Printer is a great Multi use printer. It produces fantastic color pictures. You can scan papers into your computer for the same machine. And it prints with ease, no complications what-so-ever. It gives you all these features in a great compact design, small enough to fit most anywhere. It gives you all your printing and scanning needs in one unit so no need to have multiple machines on your desk.

Always prints when I want it to and has yet to jam, streak, or any noticeable negative effects when printing. The wireless works well as my wife has printed many recipes/ideas for her business and in general. Her comment is that she loves being able to print something while she is miles away with a client and not have to try to save it for later, try to track it down in the evening, mess with plugging in cords, and, most of all, can come home and just not worry about work because she did that already!

Keeps happening, eventually it went away the first time i replaced a cartridge 4 months ago, now it's impossible to reset and get printer to recognize the cartridge is installed correctly. Beyond aggravating. Don't buy this cheap model. You get what you pay for.

I decided to buy a color laser printer that scans and copies. Granted the ink is more but you get quality prints and more prints per cartridge. I got to use the scan feature too. So far, enjoying my printer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very good SOHO printer. The Brother HL-L3290CDW is a good color laser (LED printer with a small footprint. I chose it specifically for: 1) Duplex printing (both sides of the sheet) 2) Color 3) Scanning / copy functions 4) Good Price Point Setup was easy, although getting it on the network was a bit of a bother having to scan through a 2 line display and then button push through the character selection (long passwords!). It's reasonably quiet and functions seamlessly with a combined Windows / Apple IOS / Android network. The front feed manual paper tray is also convenient compared to my MFC-J5845DW. Loses 1 star because it really should have an ethernet port; printing confidential documents over wireless in a crowded WiFi environment is not optimal. Using the USB port(s) for printing is not an option for my location.

Scanning was top notch. An improvement is needed in making the 2 plugs secure. There isn't a feeling of a sure tight connection in the rear ports. In fact, one jiggled loose after a week.

After spending all afternoon trying to get this thing to scan to the cloud I'm now discovering that Brother doesn't support Chrome OS. Come on! You're terribly behind and need to get on the ball. Wasted four hours this afternoon.

The Brother Digital Color Printer is a great improvement for my home office. The print speed and quality are excellent. I love the duplex print feature so I no longer have to flip pages over during a print job. The assembly and installation was fairly simple. The biggest problem I had was the size and weight of the printer. My husband and son had to carry the box inside because of the weight. When I tried to take the printer out of the box I found it was too heavy for me to lift out. I had to cut open the box and flatten one side in order to lift it up from the ground. So be aware, this machine is heavy. Especially if you are used to using a lightweight inkjet printer. From there, it took about 45 minutes to assemble and set up the machine using the Quick Setup Guide. Installing the toner cartridges was a bit tricky since I haven`t done so before; the visual instructions were a bit confusing for me. I downloaded the Brother iPrint and Scan app to my phone and laptop. I set up wireless printing which I love. I have scanned documents and photos easily to my laptop as well as my phone using the mobile app. I am really happy with the time saving features of this printer so far.

They don't last for more than a year or two before it breaks down. I got tied of this cycle, and happily tied this color laser printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Multi-Functional Printer I am elated to review this printer due in part to my own bias as Brother being the #1 manufacturer of printers in my humble opinion because of their ease of usage, performance, easy Wi-Fi connection, affordability, and longevity. This printer certainly meets the above criteria and more in several notable areas: Unboxing: Upon unboxing the printer, which is hefty in size, weighing it at 47.8 pounds was a task as I don’t mind stating, “I worked up a sweat!” There were a few pieces of blue tape to remove and the cartridges, (4 in the colors of black, magenta, yellow and cyan were already installed as the only thing to do was take off orange tabs that surrounded them for shipping protective purposes. Setup- of this printer was a user-friendly experience for a printer of this size. Brother has included a CD, quick setup guide and reference guide as options for users to successfully setup the product. Additionally, downloadable drivers are available on Brother’s website as an option too. I elected to employ the downloadable drivers due to the fact, my desktop does not have a CD rom drive. The download process was very quick and efficient. The first attempt to connect to my WIFI was unsuccessful, but the second time around was the charm and from there, everything was peachy. Performance-this printer runs great as there isn’t any loud sound when printing. The machine does take some time to warm-up before printing, I believe that’s due in part to its huge size, but once it gets going, it runs ever so smoothly and efficiently. The colors are vibrant as such, it prints as expected of a laser printer. Copies reproduce nicely as I copied a decorative color-based envelope, I was blown away how closely matched the colors were to the original envelope. I also copied some monochrome based documents, which reproduced fine as well. This printer’s scanning capabilities are good as scans come out clear and concise. This is my seventh device from Brother, 6 of which are printers and 1 scanner. I can honestly say without reservation that Brother really manufactures quality products at affordable pricing as this printer bears evidence. Therefore, if you are a small business owner, consultant, graphics designer or anyone who needs a printer that can handle daily productivity, then this printer comes highly recommended. Brother cares about their customers as they offer lifetime support of their products with excellent customer care support staff who really aims to resolve problems when they arise. Therefore, if you are in the market for a great printer with robust features at affordable pricing then please don’t look any further because Brother is at your side!

I purchased this for my home office knowing that we'd need something to get us through the pandemic, so far it's been flawless other than one instance of not being able to print a graphics heavy document, which even my office production printer (with a separate RIP) would struggle with.

When it came time to step up to a color laser I went directly to Brother and selected a 3 in 1 print, fax, scan model. After a couple weeks I can say it performs to my satisfaction. It is used with my personal home computer at home. I highly recommend Brother laser printers plus the prices are right and no more ink.

My bad. I have found that it is slower than my previous Brother color laser. I absolutely hate the fact that I have to tern it on everytime I print. My old Brother would automatically turn on when the signal was sent. Over all the new Brother is a good machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great print job Overall I really like this printer, I bought this primarily for all the pdf pattern printing I do and homeschool printing also. I did find it a bit more challenging to set up than other printers I have had in the past. In all honesty, I would probably just recommend going to Brother's site and just downloading the software instead of bothering with the disc. The reason I am not giving this 5 stars is as follows, it is slow to start printing. We have pretty good wifi in our house but with this printer being wifi only, no ethernet cords you are reliant on that. It seems to take quite some time for it to send info from my laptop to the printer. It also goes to sleep and then you have to go and manually turn it on and off otherwise it won't "wake up" to print your stuff. I find this frustrating at times but I'm glad I've found this fix. I don't know if it's jut my inexperience with the brand that I'm not sure about how to use it properly. I also don't care for the fact that it doesn't have a regular screen and keyboard to type stuff in like your wifi password. It took an egregious amount of time to get it connected. Overall it's print quality is quite good for both color and b&w printing. It does print the pages quickly. I don't recommend trying to print photos with it as it just doesn't do well with photos. But I didn't buy it for that and had read that was an issue with Laser printers anyhow. I have had the printer a few months now and I look forward to seeing how it lasts and how long the cartridges hold out. I had issues with a different brand where my printer heads would dry up and not print well after not using it for a few weeks.

I've used another Brother printer in the past with a touch screen, but this one doesn't have one, and I don't feel it's a drawback at all. Printer was shipped to me and packaged very securely and it has worked flawlessly for a couple hundred pages so far. I had to tweak some settings on my wireless router to allow me to setup wireless printing, which not everyone will have to do.

Contrary to some review information online, my print cartridges that came with printer have printed close to 100 color prints and still going. I’ll never buy an ink printer ever again and will always look at Brother products first. I also love that I was able to get a cover for my printer and the cart is perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Colour Printer HL-L3290CDW I had a colour Lexmark laser for some years, but it broke down last fall. My family gave me this new Brother colour 3-in-1 colour printer for Christmas. It was easy to set up on our fast home wired network, and worked very well right away. So far I've used it for Mono and colour scans at native 600 dpi and happy with those. I've printed about 250 pages, mostly mono, but many colour - either graphics designs or photos - and all have looked great. This is with the starter ink toner cartridges included in the machine, and it now reports the Black is 3/8 used, and the three colour ones are still "full". So projected toner cart life looks good so far. One thing that I noted with pleasure: registration. I printed some labels in black only on a sheet with 3 columns of 10 labels, 2-5/8" x 1", and some address labels 1" x 1" in a 2 x 10 layout. The images were exactly where I planned them to be on each label. In the previous Lexmark unit I often found them to be slightly off and had to adjust the graphics image to register properly. On this Brother they were RIGHT every time! The printer does a great job on 2-sided printing, collated or not. Its printer configuration screens have a VERY handy feature in which you can create and store several custom schemes, then choose which to use for each print job. I've created basic single- and double-sided schemes for colour and mono on Letter size, a Commercial #10 envelope using the manual feed slot, and a couple others for jobs I was doing. Fast and easy to one-click a scheme rather than setting three or four options.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Somewhat disappointed The hand feed system seems to grab on one side first so it skews the paper. I’ve double checked to make sure the paper is straight, but it still grabs one side first about 8 out of 10 times. Very frustrating since I print expensive labels.

I purchased this printer in late December, after looking for a Brother color laser with document scanner, to replace an inkjet printer with similar features that drank ink as if it were free (which it was not), and regularly required cleaning the ink pathways, at a cost of about half a container of ink, and many pages of paper. We had owned color inkjet printers from most of the volume sellers over the years, and they all seemed (in varying degrees) to be designed to fail as soon as the warranty expired. I looked specifically for a Brother laser printer with these characteristics due to our experience with a Brother black & white printer at the other end of the laser printer spectrum, a Model HL-20, manufactured in 2007 (SN U61229F7J1923907) that we inherited from my wife’s father after he passed in 2013. It has been for all its 16 years of service a magnificently reliable and solid printer, requiring only toner cartridges and a single drum replacement. That device is the most reliable printer imaginable, and I knew that when we replaced the accursed color inkjet printer, it would be with a Brother color laser with similar features and found it with the HL-L3290CDW (the HL-L3290CDW has more features). While it might seem that the HL-L3290CDW is also a step up in cost, I feel confident that when one takes into account the wasted ink and paper trying to get acceptable output from a color inkjet printer (not to mention the time spent trying to coax it into producing even one acceptable page), I feel confident that the Brother HL-L3290CDW will prove to be more economical over time.

I have yet been able to use the wifi and scanning features because I don’t have exact instructions. If you have more tech skills than I, this might be a printer for you. I miss my easy to use HP printer.

I had been looking for an automatic duplex color laser printer for a long time, as I needed a Printer for my Business and have to print a lot of pages weekly. Last year, I printed over 10,000 pages. It is important that the prints have color as it displays the details as it is an absolute necessity for my customers. Further, to save paper I needed the auto duplex mode, which this Printer has as well as works fast, andthis feature makes this Printer the perfect Printer for my Business.This printer is absolutely amazing. Has great color and auto duplex works like it should. If you know how to setup a router to have wifi setting up the wifi on the printer shouldn`t that difficult. The AirPrint system is great, we can print from our iPads and iPhones. Now all the macbooks, windows, iPhones and iPads used for my Business can print wirelessly.I`ve had a whole slew of printers over the years. Many years ago I gave up on inkjet printers as every one I ever owned seemed like a cheap piece of junk, they always blew through ink like crazy and I was always dealing with clogged nozzles and weird debris getting stuck to the heads. So then I switched to a black & white laser printer for a while and then to color laser printers. I had a couple of those but so far this has been my favorite. This thing just seems like a tank that is going to last a long time! As far as print quality goes it is great for me to, and this Printer just always works with zero problems is a winner for me. I like that each color cartridge is individually replaceable.All in all, I am absolutely happy with this Printer. If you print a lot and need decent color printing and want to print wirelessly, this is the printer you need to get for sure. I also know that this Printer will last a lifetime and will keep on giving me great quality colored prints which I need.I have already recommended this Printer to several of my friends and family members having a small Business for me and need to print a lot of colored pages throughout the year, and few of them already bought and used this Printer, and they also like me found it a great Printer. I can`t recommend this printer enough.

I needed a printer that I could do 30-page a minute and have the option to print in color or black and white. Printouts are crisp and clear. Scans are reasonable however this is not a multi-sheet scanner you can only scan one page at a time.

We also can't insert a partial piece of paper that I need to print on the back into the paper load as it won't take it, it'll get stuck or just ignores the paper. I used to be able to do it with my Canon printer and miss this feature.

Otherwise a perfect printer for home use. More reliable than the ink jet as far as running out of ink when you most need to print. Fast scanning and copying. Like the feature to be able to scan multiple pages and put all in one file.

Super quiet, fast printing, crisp lines, accurate scanned colors, easy connectivity over Wi-Fi, etc. Downside would be that this is not a small machine, but considering it a laser multi-function device, livable. Future feature would be the ability to scan to a memory card slot.

I searched all brands for this ability and found the special weighted photo paper for this printer but still, the photos are lousy quality. They are cloudy and tinted pink. I tried to follow the guides to adjust and I am not able to rectify.

The toner cartridge cost is reasonable and the type of the cardtriges to buy is labeled right in front of the printer. The print-out is fast and in good quality. I haven't tested the FAX and 'scan to print' functions.

It was delivered promptly through FedEx. Other than lifting it out of the box (it's 47 pounds), set-up was easy and fast. I have it set up wirelessly. It prints either one-sided or using both sides. Printing is sharp and crisp and has good colors but remember it's not a printer intended for photographs. I use it for work (i.e., documents and marketing pieces). Very quick output -- Overall, a great printer -- just buy it!

We have always bought hp products but decided to go with Brother and we are very happy. The only downside is that you can only scan one paper at a time. No issues Wi-Fi disconnecting and we are able to print from our laptop and phones no problem.

My son spent 2 hours trying to connect to the wi fi...(something I am unfamiliar with and finally had it running. We made 2 copies from the desk top. I tried, after he was gone to make a simple cop, and can not figure out how to get it to work. It is huge and sitting on my desk, and I have to go to the local library to print anything. I wish I had never purchased it and that I cut the box up. I would send it back in a heartbeat if I thought I could. Next time I will buy locally so as a senior citizen I might be able to get a set up and explanation on how to run it.

Occasionally when I send a document to the printer, I get an error. I turn off the printer and that seems to resolve the problem. When I have time, I'll try to figure out what is happening. One criticism is that the single sheet feeder could be improved. First, the guides to too short and too close to the rollers so that the sheet feeds at a slight angle. Second, often I must feed the sheet many times to get the printer to grab the sheet.

The biggest need I had from a new printer was ink that lasted more than a month and the ability to print on two sides. Well this printer rings the bell on both of those issues. I have a home office with several laptops remotely connected to the now decommissioned printer. I must admit that I went a little cheap on the printer and left off some options that I now know are a MUST have.My favorite feature about the printer is the double printing feature. I never realized how much I missed this feature until I was without it. This will save me money on purchasing paper as well as help save some trees. One issue I had with the printer was the instructions. Setting up the ink cartridges and unpacking it was really easy. The issue came when installing the software on my windows laptops. The laptops do not have disc drives so the instructions refer to a website to download the software. The link that is given does not take you to the download. You have to really play around and stumble across the correct link to setup the printer. The link for MACs was spot on. There was also a driver update that had issues on each of the Windows laptops but everything still completed. It was very strange. Other than the initial setup, this is a great product. The first print job was slow but since then it has been really good. Definitely glad I made the switch to this printer for my home office. I would definitely recommend this printer. It is fast, the ink is clean, and the setup of the machine is very easy. I was really pleased with the printer overall. The only negative I have again is the initial setup for my laptops. This would probably be avoidable if I had disc drives in them. I would advise Brother to correct the link so that this negative would go away.

I wish it had a way to scan two sided docs. Overall the printer is great and I hope to print a while before changing ink. Would recommend to others.

All I had to do is to plug it to the power, wait for it to boot up, restart my router so they "hand shake" with the printer and off I was printing from any room my laptop was at that point, no wires attached. Sleek design, all the scan and copy and print works perfectly, I am a happy user, thank you. Originally I was hesitant as it was my first purchase of Brother product, but now I know I can trust the brand. And the value is really great.

IT lets me know when I am getting low on paper. the printer is ready to print after I turn it on in less than a min. I like the program that allows me to print something on both sides with out having to turn the item over by hand.

Have spent so many hours trying to get it to work… even with Microsoft support. They found a really old driver that worked for a few days…then another computer update and stopped working again!

The original toner cartridges lasted longer than I expected. I have re-ordered extended life cartridges for it and expect it to continue working for years to come.

Of course that meant I was also agreeing to being held hostage to high printer cartridge costs. I finally did my research and invested in a laser printer and I'm so happy with the decision!. Obviously some cost cutting had to happen, but the result is not bad. The printer works with all my systems which includes a zoo of Windows, Mac, and Linux machines. Scanning just works also. Quick to wake from sleep. Stable Wi-Fi connection. There are some downsides. The plastic is cheap. Tiny display. Some PDFs confuse the printer and make it print a blank page (that page has to then be reprinted with "print as image"). Speaking of images, image quality is terrible, both in color and in black and white. Overall though, for general office duty this machine provides good performance for the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from you are on your own 1.Documentation is fine for unit with touch screen, but my model has lcd and no touch screen with lousy documentation 2.Will not scan wirelessly, must use cable 3.Tech support in person does not exist, chat or email support will answer a question you didn't ask, or tell you to do what you just told them did not work.

One it died on me. got new cord but after searching through internet I find out that one of part in fried and wont work. In order to replace i will need to spend couple of hundred dollar . This was such a waste of money. NOT worth the money i sepnd on this printer. i will never but brother printer again

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Even after 2yrs it's still printing fine, but... Even after 2yrs it's still printing fine and I'm still on the original sample cartridges it came with. lol... I don't print much which is why I went with Laser so inks would not dry out as they do in inkjets. My only issue was a recent update for the driver suddenly knocked all my wirelessly connected machines off. But even though no longer under warranty, I was still able to come here and ask for help. Somehow the driver reset or fudged my printers iP address, so the CSR had me reset the machine back to factory and then reset my LAN and re-enter my PW, which she gave me keypad instructions. But this model has no keypad - as it isn't a fax capable model. But it was listed under their MFC/Fax model selectors. I recall when I first set it up, I used my phone so had access to a full keypad. But the CSR told me not to use my phone and ONLY use the hardware buttons on the machine. SOOOO... using the Up/Down/OKAY buttons I was finally able to enter my network PW and now everything is peachy. On a downside. I have seemed to locked my machine into econo mode back when I set it up so full colour printing isn't 100% crisp. It looks like its printing in a test mode and I can't seem to reset it back to full. But as a direct WiFi and mobile printer it is great... so long as the next update won't fudge my machine iP address and make me go down this annoying reset and re-enter PW routine again.

I would not want to send any of my printed documents to a customer of mine because I would be embarrassed by the unprofessional appearance of the document.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a dream In the past, I have only purchased inkjet printers because of the cost to own, but I will never go back after purchasing this laser printer. It was effortless to set up and prints every time from every device/computer with no hiccups. The only regret I have is that it has no auto feeder, but I knew that when I purchased it. I now have inkjet printers still lying around the house gathering dust because there is no need for them with this workhorse on the scene.

Scanning is relatively easy once I figured it out. The paper tray holds an ample amount of paper and the unit boots up and closes down quickly once the power button is pressed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good all around, no auto feed for scan/copy Very substantial printer, has a definite office printer feel to it (that being said, it does take up a bit more space than my previous color laser printer). Wireless print and scan works seamlessly with all the laptops (Windows’s machines and Chromebooks) on the home WiFi network with no additional software needed on those devices. Print from phones connected to home WiFi works easily also. Print quality is good. Overall very pleased with the device. No auto feeder for copy and scan is the only shortcoming. Already have a b&w Brother with the auto feed so no big problem for me except I need to plug in via usb for old device for print/scan. The b&w Brother is still going strong after about 10 years now. Very happy with this brand overall.

We just sold our fairly new HP printer because of the issues we were having with it and they refused to provide customer service technical help as they said we were JUST out of warranty. I told my husband to get a Brother printer as my prior Brother printers were so reliable AND the customer service was truly phenomenal and lasts the life of the printer. I remember calling a handful of times to ask questions and the customer service staff was EXCELLENT in calming me down and helping me find my solution. I mean, not all of us jut understand how these things work and I love that they are willing to help you and treat you as a loyal customer. So bye bye HP, hello again Brother. Glad to have you back in my life!!

We don’t scan documents that often, so ADF wasn’t necessary. The print quality and speed are fantastic. We have been happily using Brother products for years.

I can`t believe how well it prints and scans. It prints super fast. The instructions were clear and easy to read. This printer was easy to connect and set up. I was actually able to print from my phone directly as well! It was really easy! The last printer I purchased said it would print easily from my phone, but 4 years later it still doesn`t. The only improvement I would suggest, if any, is that the box is pretty heavy. I had a hard time bringing it in after shipment by myself. Other then that, I would highly recommend this printer for anyone!

The only negative is their software download. We actually removed it and only use the printer driver to install from the internet. Their software is a constant sales pitch with non stop pop ups. Very irritating.

You have to get the latest firmware or the printer will go offline in 2 minutes. Worked with Brother engineers and got the correct firmware. Now the printer works perfect.

They got jammed often, they did not respond well to wireless print events, and the ink cartridges. The average life-expectancy was about a year, with only 30-50 pages per month. I guess we were fed up enough, and I remembered that a toner-based laserjet (vs. cartridge-based printer I had at work lasted for many years! We opted for this Brother HL-L3290CDW and after ~90 days of usage, it has performed like a champ. We got a little wheel base so we can slide it under the desk and back out when we need to, and keep it out of the way when we don't. The paper tray is deep. Printing, copying and scanning in either B/W or Color is easy. This one looks like it will serve us well for years to come! You get what you pay for. Don't waste $$$ on baby printers.

Printer was printing nice, dark colours but then indicated a cartridge needed changing and refused to print. The warnings of low ink are helpful, but I feel that we could have got quite a bit more out of the cartridge before the ink ran out, but the system blocked any further printing.

I like that it prints on both sides of the paper, it is reasonably quiet, holds a lot of paper and the color is quite good. I just hope it lasts a long time and I hope the replacement toner cartridges are reasonably priced. I will edit later if I have any problems but as of now I am thrilled.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Basic MFC This basic Brother MFC performs pretty well - so long as you're not expecting photographic quality pictures or auto-duplex scanning. Print quality is excellent. Speed is good. It does print in duplex. Scanning is manual single-sheet. The app is solid, reliable & pretty simple to use. I bought this because I needed to replace my old device and it was impossible to get the Brother MFC-3770CDW at the time. We're retired now so the manual scanning will probably suffice. No regrets. Connectivity is foolproof WiFi.It auto-reconnects in case it drops. I keep a USB printer cable connected. Haven't needed it yet. You can also print directly from USB & scan to USB.

She has trouble with anything electronic and this looked simple to use. Now she can print again and, most importantly, send me scanned documents instead of putting them in the mail. I do wish that the screen display were the same as on the L3770, but this does the job and mom is able to use it!

Then I have found no product that compares to this unit. Also, it is priced at an affordable price point, with the consumables prices equally at a fair rate. Unlike HP and Dell who overprice their toner and ink, this is priced reasonably. Also the drivers are much much much better than HP driver bloat.

It just happened that both of the printers being replaced starting having problems around the same time. The printers were easy to set up and are easy to use. They are also much quieter than the Dell and HP printers they have replaced. They work very well and I like the fact that they automatically print 2-sided. Makes it much easier to save paper without thinking about it.

It required a call to tech service to find this out. I am still trying to figure out how to print an envelope. The users guide is 675 pages and not searchable. I have not tried any other functions such as picture printing.

Our last HP Multifunction printer was a nightmare to install and only worked with one computer. World's apart from that experience.

It had a jam, then after the jam was cleared, continued to jam several more times. I finally cleared a jam, opened everything on the printer I could open to inspect it, powered completely down, then back on. it has continued to operate well since that incident.

The dupex copy puts the second page upside down and nothing I do seems to change that. I have tried every command and nothing changes. I have tried getting cusomer support by going to www.brother,com without success there as well. I got re-routed to Microsoft who told me it wasn't their problem.

Always bought HP printers in the past, have owned at least 5, including 2 Laserjets. But got tired of HP blocking the use of less expensive competitive ink refills. I refused to consider another HP printer. This Brother machine is a bit large for our home use but so far seems very robust, quiet in operation, fast, and scans, copies, and prints nice quality output. Looking forward to NEVER having to buy ink cartridges from HP again. We don’t print a ton, but I expect the savings in toner vs. ink will eventually pay for the Brother printer. Only regret, I wish we needed to print a lot more pages!

I needed to replace the black toner, Experienced frustration ordering online, first sent the wrong cartridge, Unable to answer questions regarding extended warranty. tt required three trips to the Offfice Depot . the wrong toner was sent home, the second next time, the toner was dry. As a last resort I loaded my printer and took to the store. The manager checked it, finding the issues I had experienced, he replaced my printer.

This is a great printer for office use, and home use if you do a lot of printing at home. The color quality is adjustable so you can save on ink if you choose to do so. It`s prints very quickly as well. The copy, or scan feature works great, and does so very quickly also. If you download the app printing from your phone is made very simple, and scanning documents, or images to your phone works great. The printer also has the ability to fax if connected to a phone line, but I didn`t use this feature. The only downside I can give about this printer is that it`s quite large. It would be perfectly fine in an office setting, but it is also stated that it is for home use, and it looks a little out of place for a home printer. The other downside is the toner replacement cartridges are quite expensive to replace. Again in an office environment I don`t see this being an issue, but for home use it`s a bit pricey. I guess it`s a bit of a trade off for a home printer. It will take forever before you need to replace toner, but it will be expensive when you do. After using it for a week, and printing quite a lot from my home office the printer works exactly as I`d expect. It prints quickly, the print quality is great, and the app works flawlessly from my phone. The installation of the software to my home pc was a breeze as well. I would definitely recommend this printer for office use, and home use as long as you`re aware that the toner will last a very long time, but will be a bit expensive when you need to do it.

This printer took a little longer than I had expected to set up, but still not more than ten or fifteen minutes total, and the included Quick Setup Guide was easy to use. I used a printer cable (not included) to facilitate the WiFi setup; not sure how much longer it would have taken without it. I have had no troubles with the computer communicating with the printer. Scans sent to the computer and print jobs sent to the printer from the computer all go through with very little delay. The unit is also surprisingly quiet.It takes a bit of time to find all of the features you might want (2-sided copying, size reduction, etc.) when navigating the LCD screen menu on the printer itself, but it`s all there and functions as promised. No need to curse it out for printing something other than what you were expecting, as I have experienced with other multi-function printers in the past, and I haven`t had to deal with a single paper jam yet.The print quality is amazing, just as good if not better than you get from a professional print shop, to the point where I had trouble distinguishing copies from originals, even including handwritten notes in various ink colors and printed text with highlighting. I`ll probably buy some photo paper and print out some vacation photos to frame and hang on the wall, which is something I would never have considered with any other printer I have owned. The main price you pay for all of this quality is size. This thing is much larger and much heavier than I would ever want for home use, even in my home office where it gets moderate daily use. It is more solid and stable than the unit it is replacing, but that one had all the same features plus a few more, and it has worked for years without any major problems. I haven`t faxed anything in years, so the lack of fax capability on this new Brother model really just clears up some phone cable clutter, but I will miss the document feeder tray, which I used fairly regularly. Double-sided copying is especially cumbersome with this new one since you have to place each page flat on the screen, one by one, side A followed by side B. All in all, I haven`t decided whether to keep this unit or revert to the old one. A document feeder tray would outweigh the inconvenient size and heft, but I am enjoying the print and copy quality. I would certainly recommend this unit for an office with several employees, especially if there is a need for occasional high-quality, full-color print jobs, but it may just be too much machine for me.

I liked the printer, so I found one as close to the company printer as I could find and afford.The print comes out crisp. Printer is much faster than inkjet. Two features that I am missing is two-sided printing and a document handler to scan or copy multiple pages in one go. A third, but less important to me, is the ability to use ledger sized paper. The toner seems expensive at first, but it lasts much longer than an inkjet cartridge.

Downside, uses toner at a prodigious rate. Brother urges you to only buy Brother toner. But brother charges more than half the price of the printer for their high yield toner, so I am taking my chances on toner that only costs 1/3 as much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ok printer but could be better I bought this printer to replace a 2010 Brother MFC 7440N, mostly because I wanted to be able to print wirelessly, having moved into a new house where the printer was too far away from the router. The HL-L3290CDW seemed like a great upgrade: not only did it do wireless printing but also it would print in color. Unfortunately it's only a 3/5 in my book. First: the wifi radio in the printer has a poorly designed antenna so the WiFi reception is very weak which means wireless printing only works occasionally. We will have to invest into a secondary access point to satisfy the printer. Second: the quality of the prints is only so/so; I sort of would be ok with that for color prints but even the black and white text prints come out a bit washed out compared to my previous MFC 7440N. All in all I don't regret getting the printer since I expect the wireless problem to go away once I add another access point and the print quality issue is something I can live with.

Shipping: This product was packaged and shiped very securely. No major worries that damage could have happened even with non-careful delivery.Assembly: I found the unpacking and general setup to be very easy. The printer is a decent size, about as expected for a laser printer, as I have seen and used plenty of laser printers much larger than this product with equal to or even less features. Connection instructions were also very easy to follow. I had it up and running in 10 minutes and I wouldn`t say I am super technical. If you do have set up or product questions however, this brand/product comes with a product lifetime support line with a live person or live chat to help, which is always refreshing! I haven`t had to use the helpline yet, but is nice to know I have if I do need it. I do have to add one downfall, which really isn`t that big of a deal, is the lack of an alpha-numeric keypad for entering the initial setup info like time/date/Wifi/etc.. You have to use arrows to get to each charachter, which takes a little time. But, once you set it up, hopefully that`s the last time you need to do this.Printer: I was most pleasantly surprised at how quiet and fast it prints. It definitely is a great fit for my home office needs, especially while on a conference call and quietly printing out documents sitting right next to it. I loved the B&W, Color prints/copies, and 2 sided print options which I use often. The quality of these types of prints was very impressive with very clear images. The scanner option was equally impressive as well.Possible problem: If you don`t have a dedicated spot in your home/office, this product is on the larger side, but understand the challenges of making these things smaller isn`t always easy with the favorable features this product has to offer.Overall, I found this product to be a great printer/copier/scanner and so far highly satisfied, but that is based on limited time of use. Now I just need to see how long the toner lasts before replacement and how reliable it is in the long run. This product is for sure great quality! I`ve had other Brother products in the past and this appears to be another sturdy and trustworthy product from them!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a relief from ink-jets Don’t do a whole lot of printing and finally got totally fed up with the ink-jet requiring new cartridges from lack of use (drying up. Already also had a Brother monochrome laser printer, which has been like the “bunny” (kept on going). Decided to treat ourselves to a color laser and, so far, no issues whatever. Set-up was a easy, for both USB and wireless modes. Comes out of “deep sleep” quickly, prints great! The old Brother has been donated for use elsewhere, the ink-jet has been delivered to reclamation. If this Brother is anything like its sibling, we will be happy for quite a long time!

I want to change it back to see how these types of copies are on the setting in the middle in case there has been some improvement. I am pleased overall and happy I purchased the product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Initial experience It took quite a while to get this printer to talk to (or listen to any other device on my network. The manual is difficult to follow and not really intuitive for a decades long technology user. Maybe because there are "features" that I probably will never use. I finally did get it to print for me and I appreciated the color printing output. However after printing two or three pages it started whining about my black carrtridge being low. Oy?! It is still printing. When it quits I do have replacement cartridges. I hope the replacements will last longer than three print jobs! Maybe I have just not found the portion of the manual that will allow me set up my printer to use 4X6 inch paper - not glossy photo paper. The manual does caution about using glossy paper made for inkjet printers. 4X6 inch paper is ideal for one of my needs. I have plain paper but I cannot get the printer to actually use it. It will pull it in and print on it (as 3X5) but it is unacceptable. I have resorted to smaller 3X5 print output. I have used Brother printers in the past (starting with dot matrix) and found them reliable. This machine seems to be up to that standard. Much better than my experiences with H-P! Yes, I would recommend Brother products to others. Bill

Brother sent me a replacement printer unit that was factory reconditioned and I was told to reuse my toner cartridges. Within a few months, I started getting streaks in the prints. I cleaned the drums and that helped a bit, but now the streaks have returned and the print quality is terrible. Brother's telling me now that I have to replace ALL FOUR toner cartridges at my own expense, which is about the cost of a new printer. The color toner cartridges have 60% life left and the black one has 30% life left,. This printer has been nothing but trouble.

Getting what you pay for, I was willing to budget higher for something that satisfies my two requirements: 1. Prints easily and readily when I need it, 2. Color, as well as Black & White. LOVE THIS THING! Quiet. Easy to use. I mean, literally, plug and play. Downloaded the software, and we were ready to go. Wireless. Connectivity (desktop and laptops. Family and I need to print maybe once a month, if that. And yet this Brother doesn't slowly die waiting for the next project to come along. I sincerely appreciate that. I only wish I'd purchased this so much sooner.

The fine detail is superior to an inkjet but as always dry toner printing is never as brilliant as wet ink but if you mostly use Black for text and you like to print wirelessly with a few copies or full bed scans you will be happy. My only area of trouble is the manual feed is very finicky. Hard to get a sheet of labels or an envelope to feed. Push too far it say s it's jammed not far enough and it might skip the manual feed and pull from the tray. I'm starting to get the feel of it but it should be easier.

(my spouse is a photography type. I would use this printers renderings for most things, just not high quality imaging. It keeps printing and printing, giving great quality and images for all but high end photography.

The ink replacement program would be excellent if it worked. It worked fine with my first printer. When i got the new printer, I registered three times for the program and never got a delivery. Had to give up trying.

I had used brother printers before and they are great and long-lasting, decided to upgrade and my documents look like they were printed by an inkjet printer and the warranty will only replace the printer or fix it. I used this printer less than 10 times. The duplex printing prints on the opposite sides of the paper was told its the documents I printing which I don't believe because it happens every time I use this feature.

Setup was a little confusing, but, I figured it out. Works great and the only hit is how to scan. Got it to work but the instructions could be clearer. That said, I'll thrilled with it and hopes it keeps working as well as it's brother Brother has done.

I managed to get one page printed and then it never worked again. There seems to be no way to contact customer support so maybe someone will see this and take pity on me

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product for small office....but This printer is just what was needed for our small business, with the lone exception (which cost it a star) of the single sheet feeder option. At first I figured it was just a matter of user error, but 2 months later, it's hit and miss on the printer taking the sheet for single prints. Sometimes it will grab first time, others can take 20+ times. Rotating the sheet, going slower, faster, new sheet, it doesn't matter. It seems to take it when it's ready and not before. Annoying, but I just pull up my barstool and patiently wait. The quality of print is what gives it the 4 stars. Not for preserving your family photos, but handles graphics and small photos nicely with some minor difference in certain color detail. If you never use the sheet feeder, this is an outstanding product compared to the competition.

It will not work with any of the replacement toners, unless you get them from brothers. and they are 3x as high as any other brands. We are a school and we try to save money with the other brands. If I had known that none of these would work in the copier I would have gotten a different model copier. Now we are with out a copier until we get a new allottment of money. Next year.They should state that they only work with Brother toners.

It has one small thing, therre are light gray streaks on the paper which I haven't been able to figure out. I cleaned the parts it recommended, but still the gray streaks remain. For what I do, it's ok, but still annoying. Everything else works great - I was able to hook it up to my phone and macbookpro immediately, it's straightforward to use, and works in every aspect.

I purchased the Brother HL-L3290CDW because I wanted a color laser printer with scan/copy function and duplexing that could print via a wireless connection. For a day or two after I first set it up, it performed these functions beautifully. Then it mysteriously refused to communicate over the wireless network and could not be reached from any device in the house. Although it would always print via USB, over the next six months it only functioned as a wireless printer about 10% of the time. The printer claims it's connected to the wireless router with the proper SSID and IP number; the router sees it and measures a strong 2.4 GHz signal; yet a ping request sent to the printer's IP returns a timeout or at best a latency of several seconds. Sometimes (but rarely, rebooting the printer would instantly restore its ability to communicate with other devices on the network and reduce ping times to tens of milliseconds. Then, after a day or two, it would vanish again. I followed every recommendation from Brother customer service, including updating the firmware, performing a factory reset, and tweaking every conceivable network setting. Ultimately I reached an advanced level of tech support at Brother (after a 40-minute hold time) and went through a long process of diagnosis. The very helpful agent ultimately said that what the printer was reporting in its network reports made absolutely no sense, so it must be a faulty unit. He arranged for a factory refurbished warranty replacement to be sent out. I received it this past week, set it up, and it worked flawlessly... for three days. Now it too exhibits the same stubborn and intermittent wireless network bugs. I will end up junking two of these printers and buying another brand instead.

The printing is clear and crisp and it prints quite fast. I like that it is wireless so I can place it somewhere else in my office. So far the only trouble I have had is in printing single card stock or label through the front single feed door. When I try to prink a single card stock or label, the computer keeps saying paper jam and I have to reset it. It eventually works but it would be nice if I did not have to keep resetting.

The menu functions are easy to operate for general set up, color, sizing, printing, coping, and scanning. When I had to call Tech support for assistance with changing wifi modems. The representative was efficient, patient, and she truly knew everything about how to fix my issue with my printer. She was Amazin! It took some time to get it all running smoothly but well worth it. Great company.

Yellow and black are depleted. For a 370 dollar printer I would have liked to have seen the toners last 1300 pages…. Now with in 3 months of use I have to go spend a few hundred on toner… I didn’t go inkjet because I don’t print weekly to keep the heads from clogging but now think maybe I should have.

Still eats color toner like it's going out of style. Get less than half of the "pages printed" that each toner promises. If it functioned properly I'd really like it. It does not.

I very much appreciate the fact it is not an ink jet as the previous one I used was ink jet (a competitor and was missing lines within the first 200 pages and required a new and rather expensive print head within 2000 pages. Installed very easily. I won't give it a 5 star yet but maybe after more time. Color is not perfect but very very acceptable for the cost.

I currently have a Brother QL-710W (label printer) and a Brother ADS-1500W (scanner). They are both workhorses. I thought this time around, I'd give a Brother laser printer a shot. I`ve been using the Compact Digitial Color Printer HL-L3290CDW for about 2 weeks now. As a remote worker, I need a printer and scanner that I can trust will work. This printer did that and more. The printer is fast and the quality of the printed pages is spectacular. The copy machine and scanner machine also work well. The machine is simple to use with a few buttons that highlight printer, scanner, etc. The best part is that it is a WiFi printer - which is something I had never used before. I would highly recommend this printer to my other colleagues who work remote and have already recoemmdend to my parents who are retired but still need printer/copy/scanning functionality.

Awfully pleased with the quality construction - an understatement, and its flawless performance, just like we had been with the 8350CDW previously. We also have a Brother MFC-L2700DW - same positive experience. One of the many reasons we gravitate toward Brother products is their complete, up-to-date, software/driver web site support even for old operating systems. This has not been the case with other major manufacturers as we discovered belatedly. When it comes to office products, Brother is out number one choice. PS The HL-L8350CDW was performing impeccably well for years, until its support stand was knocked over and in the process the printer fell from three feet high. It continued working perfectly well however, we felt unjustifiably uneasy. So we decided to donate it to charity with a full explanation note. Somewhere at this moment there is a happy bargain hunter.

Reliable. I owned a Brother MFC 4500 (which is the backup printer but we needed wireless and a flatbed scanner for printing from books etc. Also, color is great for school reports and business reports. I know the cartridges will cost more, but I know they last longer. And I anticipate this printer to work for years to come.

NOTE: To download updates you may have to temporarily disable your antivirus as the download address is blacklisted. When it is time to replace the toner, just order a new printer, the cost is the same as 4 tone cartridges. This way you can sell your old machine and get your cartridges less expensively and always have a new machine under warranty.

Its fast & consistent, does duplex printing, prints from my phone or any pc on the network. Everything works as it should. I'm expecting the included toner to last me a while. It was a breeze to set up with the quick start card. Based on some prepurchase research, this printer was better than others in the same price range in regards to color photo prints, although it is not a photo printer, it does a pretty good job & I am more than happy with the results.

It even showed me how to open it to put ink cartridges in. I also connected my iphone and iPad up to it. If I could do it, anyone could! Decided I'd had it with inkjets so finally found this color laser that allows you to print straight through on cardstock! First impressions: My first impression of the Brother HL-L3290CDW was that it is heavy. Like throw your back out if you`re not prepared for it heavy. Unboxing and removing the packing materials was quite a process to do solo & I wish I had had someone help me with it. This is not a printer for Grandma unless Grandma`s linebacker grandson is there to carry the thing in the door and help set it up. Not to over-emphasize the point, but I went out and bought a new printer stand because I didn`t think the small table my previous printer rested on would be sufficient. This is a serious printer, it does not tolerate the weak. (I later noticed there a small diagram of two people carrying the printer etched into the side of the device in the plastic as warning/guideline- `hey, this is heavy`Removing all of the packing materials that secure the internal components was fairly straightforward, though there are quite a few pieces of tape and plastic securing the toner cartridges and paper tray. The benefit of this is that the printer need only be plugged in after removing those materials and it is ready to be set up.While printer shipped with a CD, I decided to skip the CD and download the latest software from the Brother website. I wasn`t able to find the software on my first attempt with the website & ended up just searching for the model number and "software" to get to the download page. After downloading and installing the software the printer Wi-Fi setup went smoothly; from powering on to printing a test pages took maybe 15 minutes. Subsequent installations on additional computers went more quickly.Using the printer: The printer allows both printing and scanning to be done wirelessly. Basic copying can be done with the flatbed scanner, though there is no attachment for scanning/copying multiple documents- it`s one page at a time. The buttons and small LCD display allow some stand alone functions with the use of a computer. Separate buttons for B&W and color copies are a nice included feature- you don`t have to navigate through a menu to select one or the other, just push the large dedicated button. A dedicated button for 2in1 (ID) copying is also included which might be very useful to anyone coping ID`s, insurance cards, etc. where both front & back are needed on a single page. The LCD screen provides simple directions on how to use the feature. A dedicated WiFi button is also on the controls which illuminates a dull neon green when connected to WiFi. I find this somewhat distracting as the printer is in my peripheral field of view. There may be a way to disable the light in the settings, but I haven`t delved that far to find if it exists. The software from Brother just works, with minimal effort on the part of the user. Scans transfer to the computer and pages print without issue. The software does include a telemetry/data analysis option where data on how the device is used is transmitted to the manufacturer. I wasn`t comfortable with this and disabled the setting. Also, the ability to scan documents onto a thumb drive via USB port would be a feature I would like, it is not included with this model.Quality: Scan quality is very good, though with only one-page-at-a-time scanning possible, scanning is secondary to the print functions. Both B&W and color printing looks very sharp and colors are accurate. I would not hesitate to use this device for everyday office printing. Having used the device less than 2 weeks I can not speak to the longevity of the toner cartridges, obviously use will determine how often they need replacing (the printer does have the ability to accept extra capacity toner cartridges & the model number for both regular and high-yield toner are on a sticker on the front.) All-in-all, very happy with print quality.Final thoughts: Overall, a solid device with good feature and great quality, make sure you have two people to lift it!

If you don’t use it for a while the ink dries and and you have to replace a half full expensive tank. Now that I’m working from home I still print infrequently but when I need to print it needs to work. All the time. This printer works all the time, it prints fast, and the prints look great. It’s also reasonably priced and the included “starter” cartridges are good for 1,000 prints which will last me a long time. Definitely recommend.

It’s perfect for any colored graphs, flyers even pictures they just won’t be all HD but the picture will look good. I can print from my phone. I love it. If I could change one thing. I have not figured out yet how to get it to print the wanted size on photo paper. In other words it tries to print an 8 by 10 inch photo on a 4 by 6 inch card. Scanning is more complicated than I expected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cheaper in the long run The main reason was the toner instead of the ink like laser jet printer use, it lasts a lot longer. These printers appear more robust than other printers out there. The all-in-one printers of other brands appear to be lightweight and easily damaged where as the brother appears stronger.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy setup! This unit was very easy to setup. Wifi works perfectly. Wakes up right away when a document is sent to print without any delay. Scanning works well too. Expected better colour print quality. Colour is not crisp, more blurred and doesn't capture the actual image.

Then it would not connect to my computers (3) even though it had done so previously. I am rally technie and tried everything (reboots resets off/ons - printer, router, computer) nothing helped. Network reports showed printer on Wi-Fi but not to any computer. Called support, told 10 minute wait, it was 45 minutes. Tech spent 15 minutes with me (useless) and told me to contact my internet provider and no one else at Brother could help me. It is a printer problem but their support could not see that. Don't buy if you may need support.

Drawback #1, it does not have an auto feed for scanning, only manual flatbed scanning - HUGE drawback Drawback #2, it can take up to a few minutes to render a print job with very much colour Drawback #3, the scanner software (Brother iPrint & Scan) will periodically send info to the printer, causing it to run through a physical 'scan', which is pretty noisy, any time of the day or night, if you forget to close the app. Good point #1, it was the most affordable colour laser I could find.

It's very slow to print, both to start and to complete large jobs. Even medium jobs, it has to pause every 3-4 pages to catch its breath and then start up again. The majority of the printing I do is black and white, but when I occasionally use the color printing, the colors are not true. I use the printer over a wifi home network, and I frequently have to reconnect it to the network. The print quality of black and white documents is good, but overall, I would NOT recommend this printer to others.

Now after three months, can’t even read the pages. Customer service people are not easily reachable. It is disheartening that I had to deal with printer problems only after couple of months of purchasing the product.

The small screen and navigation make it very difficult to setup and apply various settings. Connecting wirelessly to some computers was fairly difficult. Printing in great. Would choose a different brand such as HP in the future.

I like being able to print from my phone too, which is always nice. Color laser ink is somewhat faint on regular printer paper, but I personally have preferred this to the thick wet ink jet prints. I haven't had to change the ink yet. I'm hoping that doesn't change my opinion.

The printer before this one was an All in One toner printer that is still going strong today. That one is about 10 years old. I love my Color Laser printer. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice upgrade! This is a nice upgrade from the HP Ink jet I had before that was expensive to operate. This has already saved us money in ink costs alone. There is one issue that has come up. The AirPrint feature, printing straight from our iPhones. Worked great and instantly the first few weeks. Now when we try our phones state there is no printer available. The printer itself is in “deep sleep” when this happens and doesn’t remedy itself until we push the WiFi button and the printer searches for a WLAN then all of a sudden the AirPrint feature works again. Don’t know if this is a settings issue that we need to adjust or if it’s an “update” issue as we have had to do an update a couple weeks after purchase and that is when the trouble started. Aside from that this is a very nice upgrade and am enjoying it so far.

I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion. I have a home office and had limited spaced on top of my workstation desk. This printer/copier met my needs and demands to handle multiple tasks with speed and user friendly features. It was very easy to set up. Take out of box, and simply remove packaging around each toner cartridge, located on top of the machine. Next, I just removed some of the tape and packaging in the paper tray. Since this printer is wireless, it only needed to be plugged in to the wall for electricity. The wireless set up was much easier than I thought. Once the CD is installed, it will automatically recognize the WiFi network you are using. From here, I just followed the prompts and within minutes, I was ready to start printing and coping!For a laser copier, the only slight drawback is that it is a bit noisy.

Great quality printing, no jams and no issues in the 30 days we've been running it. We've printed a couple of art pieces for reference during homework - not photo quality, but it does the job well. Still has plenty of ink and I've printed nearly 1000 pages, including lots of music. Great machine.

The printer was great just what I needed copies fast prints and fax fast also. Very decent size and easy to get too components and the inside too. Its on the heavy side but for all the stuff that it does I didnt mind the weight of it. I had no problem connecting plugs and connecting to my computer download,even downloading software to my computer no problem. All around I had no problems,the price matches the quality worth every penny. I would advice anyone who needs a printer that moves fast and can handle large quantities for your buisness paper work this would be perfect for you.

The printer was easy to set up and instructions were clear. Took about five minutes from unpacking to printing. Easy! I assembled it in no time. My favorite feature is that the printer automatically prints 2-sided, which is great for saving paper. It is very quiet and takes up just a small amount of space on my desk, especially considering the flatbed scanner. In the past, I have had a laser printer and a color flatbed, but this product is better than both of those because it provides all the features I need in one machine. Printing quality is excellent and professional. I did have a little trouble initially getting the printer to print with WiFi, but got this resolved. Overall, I would recommend this printer for a home office.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Printer Stinks! Due to HP ink costs, I switched my printer from HP to Brother and it was a huge mistake. From Word, the printer automatically detects that the document contents are labels, so you are FORCED to manually feed each label... Want to print more than one label? Sorry, one label at a time and you must hold the label to ensure it actually gets fed, otherwise it jams or it arbitrarily switches to the the standard paper tray, I can't win with this printer!!! If you think I didn't change the printer settings in Word, you would be wrong.... The printer overrides you selection each time you open a previous file. Here's another fun feature, want to change the paper size? No problem, just remove the entire tray and try not to cut yourself in the process. I make at least (50 different color labels a day and now my job is made longer thanks to this printer. This is absolutely the WORST purchase I have ever made.

So, if you do a lot of scanning, this is NOT the printer for you. It does not have a feeder for scanning just the flatbed. My wife likes to print pictures and this is a not the printer for printing pictures because of the toner type. I personally think it is slow. Overall, it was an overpriced printer.

Did not have duplex printing and did not play nice connecting with devices other than hardwired computer. Did fair amount of homework, finalized on the Brothers LED MFP. Where we have the printer does not permit the paper feeder (would recommend if you scan multiple pages more than a few times per month. Quite operation, air drop works (although sometimes slowly), very good scanning that is quick even with multiple sheets being manually placed. Overall quite pleased and believe we made a good purchase. After 4 or 5 weeks did have problems with black blotches and lines appearing on the printed paper. Performed recommended cleaning process multiple times, did not resolve the problem. Eventually problem resolved itself. Also had to change black toner after perhaps 6 weeks, maybe less. Do not know if smaller capacity cartridges are shipped with MFP or not.

This had a small discount off the total price, but was reasonable for a color laser printer. I examined the reviews, and some of them said that it didn't do pictures well, but so far, I've been satisfied with what we've printed. Love the front/back printing capability, and the scanning function has proved to be valuable, especially since I have been scanning family photos that go back over 100 years, and the scanner picks up subtle details and conveys them onto the finished file. Enjoying this printer immensely!

This printer was new out of the box and should not have happened. Check your quality control! I think you should replace the cartridge he got for me!

I wish it had a feeding tray but that's a minor aspect that doesn't really affect my use if it. It is quite large and takes up more room than I wanted it to but that is also a minor detail.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works like it should There are a couple reviews from incompetent users regarding this printer so I knew I had to leave a review. Over the last 2 weeks this printer has produced over 600 black/white text pages of invoices, roughly 50 full color full page images of job sites, and has had no jams so far. My desktops do not have a disk reader, I was able to find the software in less than 2 minutes on Brothers website and the whole install process took less than 15 min. Change the paper weight in the print settings for heavy paper, and make sure to use the correct tray for it. You wouldn't buy a car and then not read the owners manual to see when/ what type of oil to use, so don't pick up a printer of this caliber without taking the 5 minutes to read though the manuals.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Laser AIO, But Not Very Easy to Use The unpacking, set-up and footprint is very easy or good. However, to set-up wirelessly with PCs is tricky and unreasonably tricky. Both of my PCs detected the printer, but the printer would not print as-such. Needed to do some installation that caused me to be uncertain that it was being done properly. In the end, it worked. There is a delay from when it "Receives Data" until when it actually prints. It is easy to load sheets. It would be helpful if there was an icon or instruction on which end is up/down and top/bottom. Also, not sure how to use manual feed. Still, I'll figure it out. It prints very satisfactorily, including Avery labbels.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Technology Teacher It prints beautifully though I have not used color yet. Scanning works perfectly too. It is certainly fast enough. The only downsides are very minor. First, it is heavy, 50 pounds so you might need two people to get it where you want it. Second, the printed documents do not come out far enough, it takes an extra few seconds to get your fingers on the sheet(s. If it lasts as long as my last Brother, an HL 2070n, 12 years, I will be very happy. Another great thing about Brother is that there is no expiration on the free tech support. I needed a little help in getting it connected to my complicated network. The support person figured it out quickly.

When I received the printer I wasn`t expecting it to be as large as it was. First thought, too heavy and too large for my desk. Anyway, I opened the package and followed the instructions and got the printer working. The steps were easy, the hardest part was getting my computer to sync with the printer. Printing using my smartphone was a breeze as well as holding up the WiFi. I printed my first page and was pleased with the speed, how quiet the printing was and the quality of the printing. Even though I have to find a space for the printer, I won`t go back to using my old printer.

The copies are clear and crisp, and the double-sided printing is easy and paper saving. My wife, in particular, loves the fact that she can print directly from her cellphone. The printer does not use a lot of toners which is a big plus for it. Overall, very pleased with this printer.

Just refilled all toner cartridges with Brothers cartridges. Brother cartridges are pricey but I tried others in my previous Brother printer and eventually went but to Brother cartridges.

Takes a while to print up a stack of papers from my computers but it is connected by WiFi not sure if it’s faster if it is directly connected.

Having two teenagers and an office in my house, this printer sees lots of action, it hasn't missed a beat. The color prints are not true color and not as vivid as our old inkjet but they are close enough for what we need. Hope it last longer than our last 3 inkjets.

The print quality is very good and the printer is quiet. My favorite thing is I can print in color without the worry of consuming a tone of ink (I had an inkjet that ran out of ink very often).

Any ink cartridges are readily available. This is my first color Brother printer I recommend to anyone. Brother is the most reliable printer we ever had will buy no other.

After many print attempts just couldn’t get streak free printing without lots of superfluous ink residue on copies. Did some research, called service and ultimately returned to store for a replacement. This one works like a charm with perfect copies every time. Seems like a quality product that serves our needs quite well.

I bought it to make stickers and never gotten a clean print. a brand new printer should not print grainy like this. Ive used glossy paper, card stock etc. and still the same thing. I've cleaned the toner as the troubleshoot said. im Livid. I also had to buy a new black toner because it was leaking. a new printer!!!. Im so unhappy with this , im not getting anything done.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Network issues The initial review was good. I was impressed with the printing quality, however, it is no longer recognized by my computers on the network. The printer status is online and shows current network name, IP address, and speed but the troubleshooting and setup wizards will not work on the computer. One tool had me change the IP address which allowed a test page to print from the computer but afterwards the rest of the setup was unsuccessful with the Brother iPrint app and windows device setup on the computer or the app on my phone. I brought my old ink jet back out to have something while I wait for Brother to contact me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pretty good but often frustrating I replaced a printer. Installing this was hideous. Took a couple of days. Realizing I needed to lift it to find the p/w was not great news but I did that, then installed a new p/w that is more secure. Now, it says I did not do that and need to uninstall/reinstall and reset the p/w again. VERY much dreading that process. When it works, it's great. When it goes offline, it is a pain. I need to update software but of course, it won't allow me access because of the p/w issue. ugh. As to general issues: often the print job is 'messy', with dirty looking results. I love this thing when it is easy to ignore.

Of course, only time will tell how it holds up but for now, we couldn't be happier. Having a color laser printer is clean and efficient.

When I had the opportunity to purchase this laserjet, I decided to take the plunge and go for it (even though the initial cost was higher than an inkjet. I am so very happy I did. This printer well exceeds my expectations in both quality of print and even image quality as well as being a quiet and relatively fast printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact But Powerful I purchase the HL-L3290CDW to replace the my MFC-9560CDW printer I purchased in 2007. The HL-L3290CDW is a new and improvement from the large business printer I had for 14-years, which I've NEVER experience ANY problems. This why I went back to Brother for a new printer. The old printer is still functioning, but I mistakenly purchased non-Brother toners. The knock off cartridges leaked inside, so now, all of my printouts are bleeding a rainbow of colors, which is why I purchased a new printer. I will donate the old Business printer to Goodwill.

I am extremely pleased with its high quality laser prints (clear and sharp, full of color and a scanner that allows a range of DPI choices.
